Well, it seems the good sleeping was just a blip, we're into a whole new world of night time shenanigans now.

Bed at 6:30, woke at 12:30 - 'fab', I thought, 'if he does another 6 1/2 hrs he'll go until 6:30/7am, that's good'.

Uh, no. Not only did he not do another 6 hours he fussed and messed and refused to go back to sleep until 3am then woke up again at 5:30, for the day.

GGGGGGgggggggrrrrrrrrrrr .

He was really hard to settle the night before after his feed, took an hour and he's taking ages to settle at bedtime too, so goodness knows what he's up to.

TBH, it's driving me bananas. I actually prefer getting up 3 times a night for 15/20 mins than spending over 2 hours trekking back and forth to his room or sitting on the floor next to his cot patting his sodding bottom!

Indith · 26/08/2007 13:45

A Spanish measure is pouring until you leap over the bar and wrestle the barman to the ground to make them stop isn't it Lucy? Also a major lightweight, I got pretty good in Russia but now half a G&T and I'm done for.

Glad you had a good holiday Castles

I know exactly what you mean about sleep Oli. I'm terrible for taking the easy way out and feeding back to sleep as I know I can be back in bed in 10 mins though it doesn't solve any problems.

Ds is showing signs of finally settling (ish) though teetihng def an issue. Night before last he needed resettling 3 times before I went to bed (didn't feed at all was very proud of myself) but then he woke at midnight and screamed his head off til we got teething gel on him. Of course he won't let us anywhere near his gums to do it so it is a tough job. He quietened downa nd had a feed then slept til 6! Had another feed and slept til 8.30! LAst night he went til 2 before a feed then 6 again (grr) then 8.30. Looking up although I prefer getting up for the day at 7 to 6 then 8.30!

jabberwocky · 26/08/2007 19:24

Lol at the Spanish measure! I've got to tell my nephew about that one. I'm pretty sure he does this on a regular basis without knowing the name of it

babypowder · 26/08/2007 20:15

I really take the easy way out. I know that DD2 will settle after her first night feed (around 1am), but that she probably won't after the second (around 3am) I feed her back to sleep, pop her in her cot, and if she wakes again I bring her into bed so that I can sleep.

I know this is a rod for my back - I did it with DD1 as well But I do so need my sleep ...

babypowder · 26/08/2007 20:20

And Oli & Castles, please stop eulogising about Scotland. We've started talking about moving South!!

It is so glorious up here. Today the air was so clear we could see Lochnagar, and the clouds pouring over the Cairngorms. I'll be to leave.

Olihan · 26/08/2007 20:41

How far south, BP? Into England? That's a big change for all of you, what's prompting that (if you don't mind telling us)?

I have to admit, when it's just me I stick ds2 into my bed if he won't settle. Trouble is, he doesn't like it when dh is in bed too and it makes him worse, so weekend nights are spent sat on the floor by his cot. I've got quite good at falling asleep with my head resting on the bars of his cot, only to be rudely awakened by ds2 grabbing a fisful of my hair .

I wonder what joys tonight will bring...................

babypowder · 26/08/2007 22:39

It's work that's making us think about moving to England. Just the usual corporate bo*ocks that mean that if I want to continue my career it makes more sense down there. And it would be closer to DHs family, so it makes sense on a lot of levels.

I worry about moving DD1, though. I know kids move schools all the time and suffer no long term damage, but she is my PFB, and I'm still learning

And I really would miss our little corner of heaven. But may I say that, as a Canadian, the winters up here are just fine. We rarely have to dig ourselves out of the house

magnolia1 · 26/08/2007 22:56

Just wanted to pop on and say I am off camping tomorrow for 5 days. If I am honest I am dreding it. Really tired and the thought of having to get up in the night with ds1 and then entertain and keep the holiday spirit going all week is a pain

See you all soon xxx

Olihan · 26/08/2007 23:08

Aww, Magnolia, I can sympathise. Holidays just aren't the same with babies in tow. If we didn't go over to my dad's I wouldn't go away at all. Try and enjoy it a bit - it might not be as bad as you expect .

BP, how far down into England then? Cheshire's nice .

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 27/08/2007 17:59

Hi all! The weather's been lovely today. We're off to a nature trail tomorrow.

Good luck with camping Mag1. dh keeps trying to convince me to go camping. I may go one day....

Gloria42 · 27/08/2007 21:05

What a weekend! At least I can post some good news - if you can call viral gastroenteritis "good news"!?
After the mega-puke of Friday evening DS slept through to 6.30 as usual, but when I went in to get him he was completely listless, no energy and white as a sheet. He was sick twice on the changing mat, just lovely yellow bile, then up-chucked everything we managed to get into him from his morning bottle. Lovely.
Anyway, one call to NHS24 and we had a docs appointment for 8.30 and the lovely nurse practitioner diagnosed as above. Isn't it weird how just giving something a name can make you feel so much better?
She prescribed 1/2 strength formula for 24 hours and no solids. She recommended no solids for this time either, but said Rich Tea biscuits could be given as last resort for a starving baby. DS loves his food, so you shouldn't be surprised to hear he ate about 6 throughout the day!
So, today he was about back to normal although he's back to plain veg and fruit purees for a while until we're sure he's 100%

babypowder · 27/08/2007 22:02

Gloria, what a relief for you! Hate it, hate it, hate it when they're ill, as they get so poorly so quickly. Of course, they bounce back just as quickly, leaving us absolutely shattered

Oli, we're looking kind of East Anglia, Essex way. Who knows. Cheshire is lovely, though, so maybe ....

Olihan · 28/08/2007 07:59

Oh, I grew up in east Anglia, just outside Cambridge, in fact. Parts of it are lovely but it's very flat, totallt the opposite to where you are, I guess!

Gloria, glad ds is on the mend and you're less worried. Poor thing, tummy bugs are awful.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 28/08/2007 11:15

Glad your DS is on the mend Gloria

GodzillasBumcheek · 28/08/2007 11:18

Hello...just popping in for a mo...hope everyone's ok. Not staying long as have to go out. Just keeping my name in the ranks!

babypowder · 28/08/2007 20:22

Oli, I don't have anything against East Anglia, just really love it up here. (Although Essex is another story ... )

I'm convinced DD2 is going to do herself a serious injury soon. She's determined to move, but seems to want to bypass crawling altogether. Hence, she keeps falling over, usually onto her nose, but quite often onto the back of her head as well. I just keep hearing the 'thump - WAAAAA' sequence. If only I could wrap her in cotton wool

jabberwocky · 28/08/2007 20:36

Well, here I sit at work...counting away the minutes I have to be here. Had a bit of a scuffle over my schedule for my last month here. I wanted to just say "FFS, I'm leaving, I'll only be back 4 times, let's just do this in a civilized manner!"

Ho, hum, 3 hours to go...

LowFat · 28/08/2007 22:19

Hi everyone - cant belive Magnolia is camping???

we are off to Butlins next week, as well as visiting my family and the organistation for that is too much for me!

Cor jabber, wich I was leaving my job! I only have 15 hours of work before holiday - make that paid work, I have hundreds of hours of stuff to so at home, yet here I sit chatting on MN

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 28/08/2007 22:25

Lowfat - are you self catering at Butlins?

Which one are you going to?

My dd1 loved it (I was a bit overwhelmed with her demands so make sure "no" means no!)

LowFat · 28/08/2007 22:30

Hi Margo -

We're off to Minehead - in a gold apartment (ooh gold!) Yes we're self catering, which is a shame as we're broke!

have gathered some baby food for DS, formula nappies etc, and DH has about £250 for spending - hopefully we wont spend anywhere near that. But we'll dine out once a day for a good meal - and i read they have free baby food in the family friendly restaurants.

Have shown DD the website and she can;t wait to go!

DS had his Baptism on Saturday, and 3 weeks after we get back it's DD's b'day - hence no money as we've had top pay out for these!

Am going to put come pics on my profile I think!

lucy5 · 28/08/2007 22:35

Hola, not much to report here. The weather here is grotty, sweltering hot but no sun. We are all sweaty and horrible. Ds not sleeping because of the heat and teeth. Sorry to say it but roll on winter. I will be able to leave the house again!!!!!!!!!

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 28/08/2007 22:39

We have DD2s christening and joint 3rd birthday party on Sunday, and my cousins wedding reception on Saturday.

I will be extremely knackered.

Lowfat - I'm glad you got Gold Accommodation. Much much better than silver.

LowFat · 28/08/2007 22:42

I have added pictures again...so will have to refrain from saying anything about people in RL so they dont identify me.....as if I would

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 28/08/2007 23:03

Aw they're beautiful!

jabberwocky · 29/08/2007 03:00
