NEW THREAD!!
i've copied this list from an old thread, added in a few additions from the recent thread where appropriate except for fluffymummy because i am not sure when your little one's birthday is. Also not sure of names for the new additions so if you want to copy/paste and repost with corrections that's be great! We've had some fall by the wayside, but i've left everyone in in case they pop back in.

Happy birthday to your little boy! Are you going to join us permanently?! What's his name?

LazyLinePainterJane · 25/08/2007 09:04

Thanks!

I think I might, I made a couple of posts further down but not really kept track of the thread.

His name is Jake.

Are you discussing their talking?

josey · 25/08/2007 19:31

Hi Lazyline and Happy Birthday to Jake

on the speaking thing I remember last year some of us counting how many words the los were saying, so I decided to do so for dd to see what was what just before she turns 2. I was totally amazed at reaching 85 Useless info I know just thought I would share with some other mad mums that wont think im totally off my rocker (well i hope not anyway)

LazyLinePainterJane · 31/08/2007 09:42

I keep counting up his words but he adds to them every day so I can't keep track. He seems so far off actual sentences though, he babbles constantly.

josey · 31/08/2007 13:06

DD had a great time yesterday, she loved all the toys, the shopping basket adn trolly with things like eggs, bread, chicken packets and tins were a great hit, and her trike was funny as she would sit and shout push then when you would push she would jump off.

She made me laugh by shouting loudly CAKE and trying to sniff the candles instead of blowing them out.

I know what you mean about the words, DD is adding about 10 everyday and leaving me open mouthed at some of the words she is saying as some I dont know where she is learning them from, she is also counting to 3 by herself and if helped can make 5.

Hello everyone and happy belated birthdays. DS2 had a bit of an anti-climatic birthday as we headed off on holiday to France that day - we didn't even eat the cake I had brought along. Still, I think the 2nd birthday suffers from not being such a big occasion as a 1st birthday plus the child having little concept of what a birthday actually is. We had a nice time on holiday, although the weather the first week was appalling. We made it to the beach the second week though. It seems like something has finally clicked with DS2's speaking - its as if he suddenly realises that there are different words for everything and likes to point at something so that I can say the word. Still a long way off a decent volcabulary or sentences, though. Interesting that some of you have had HV check-ups - I haven't seen a HV since DS2 was around 6 months and certainly have not been called for a check-up in that time. Finally, I've only got just over a week before I give up work, but lots to get done in that time. I do hope I've made the right decision.

PanicPants · 05/09/2007 20:53

Great a new thread. I've only just found it!

Happy 2nd Birthday everyone and well done QR for passing your driving test.

Ds had a lovely birthday and the weather was actually hot and sunny!
Like everyone elses lo's he is picking up more and more words daily but seems a little way off sentences as yet.

Can't believe they are 2!!!!!!!!!!

queenrollo · 12/09/2007 16:11

just popping in........ds is pushing the boundaries a bit more now, but is such a loving boy!
hope everyone is well!

Hi everyone very quiet on here.

DD is starting to recover from her op she got last week, I was worried she would stop speaking and not eat but she has done really well, her mouth still looks sore if she lets me near it. At least she lets me brush her teeth now.

She has been so much fun lately, she was helping make tea tonight, nothing over the top just put the cut potatoes in the empty pot and put the mats on the table, but she was running about saying I help and eat it all beacuse she helped.

Azure · 19/09/2007 13:19

Josey poor DD having an op - I'm glad she's recovering well. I finally gave up work last Thursday and my nanny left on Friday (to have a baby) - so now I'm officially a SAHM for the first time in my life. The last couple of weeks were quite stressful and traumatic, trying to pass on my job after 11 years and tie up loose ends, not that I managed it and had a phonecall from the office only this morning (which I'm fine about). It's going to take some time before it really clicks that I'm not going back to work. The other exciting news (ok, to me only) was that DS2 had his very first haircut. He had lovely curls which pinged up wonderfully, but looked like a long and dodgy haircut when wet. Anyway, I asked for it to be not too short and I'm delighted that he still has some curls (DH and I have straight hair, so we're not expecting it to last).

On a different note, what are the most successful lunches you feed to your two-year olds? I don't seem to be having much success at the moment with finding something that DS2 likes.

queenrollo · 20/09/2007 17:39

ds and food are hit and miss.
breakfast - porridge, always. he won't eat anything else at all for breakfast. he used to eat toast but latey just refuses it no matter what topping i try.

Lunch - grapes, wedged apple and roll/sandwich. for months he refused to eat the sandwich or roll so would just have a slice of cheese or a bit of ham.

Tea - i give ds whatever we are having for tea. tonight it was scampi, salad and chips. quelle surprise he only ate the chips he won't touch veg, pasta, rice or meat. he likes the character tins of pasta in tomato sauce but for obvious reasons i'm reluctant to give them too often. i'm trying really hard not to stress. Even bargaining doesn't work. Last night he refused to eat his tea, just wanted chocolate mousse.....so he had no tea!

otherwise ds has suddenly upped his vocabulary and talking quite a bit. he is totally obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine.....i'm beginning to regret buying him the DVD!! he's playing nicely with other children at playgroup and sharing well, although i fully expect that to change at some point!

Hi all,
been wrapped up in the business recently and hardly had any free time...hence quiet on here. It's all going well though so that's good. Dh away just as much so no change there but oh boy! hhhhowww much paper work??? I'm drowning in it.
I am 8 wks pregnant with no2, due in May so am feeling pretty lousy and knackered...just as well ds is being a darling just now.
He is just an angel (for now), eating just about anything I give him so for that I am very grateful. One thing he does makes me laugh- you know when you feed a baby and dribble some food down their chin so scoop it up with the spoon? He does that- to himself! Also tries it with a fork which doesn't work so well!
He knows most colours, obvoius ones, is now counting and placing a number to each item (before he would just recite numbers in order) and has on occasion said please without being prompted. He sometimes does something like bash in to the dog or whatever, and say "ooops, sorry bramble, never mind"!!! He knows quite a few nursery rhymes, managed to get him to recite a few on tape tonight. He did 4 wees and a poo on his potty on Sunday, of his own accord. If his nappy is off he will look for the potty, when he ran off to do his poo I peeked through the gap in the bathroom door, I was so proud, must eb making it very obvoius as he now does whatever then stands up and claps! Of course I just join in! Dh's auntie bought him pants for his birthday and tonight I tried them on him before his bath, he adored them and didn't want to take them off! He kept looking down at them (over his belly) and in the mirror!
He is obsessed with pennies in his little purse, jigsaws, books, baking, play dough, tractors and diggers, and "Postan Pat". And spinning round and round and round, sooo funny.
He's an angel at going to bed just now too, so we're going to take the side of his cot. Dh insistent we put up a side of some sort, thinks he will break if he were to fall the 6 inches he cot bed is from the floor! However he managed to trap his fingers in the boot of the car on Sunday .

I'm painting such a lovely picture aren't I?!?! He's at a really good stage though and we're really enjoying it. Anyone else finding that?

josey · 27/09/2007 13:56

How quiet on here??

Big Congrats Brambalina

Your DS sounds a darling - DD is quiet similar with counting and colours favs are purple and green and she counts up and down the stairs. Eating isnt bad not too fussed if she wont eat some times and she will always ask for and Apple(papol) or Raisins (waysin) when hungry, not interested in potty apart from what the puppy does she announces Bennie done potty Bed time is much better though we were in a fit of panic the other day, DH went to wake her and we couldnt find her, she was fast asleep under her bed she was very cute when she woke up to 3 suprised faces kneeling at the end of her bed when she crawled out.

queenrollo · 29/09/2007 07:07

dp and i are separating...........i keep crying at what this means for ds. i never wanted him to come from a broken home......this is tearing me up.

I'm sorry queenrollo

Are you okay?

queenrollo · 29/09/2007 15:18

i'm not ok.......my two guys love each other, playing and laughing and giggling. hiding under the duvet in the morning.......reading bedtime book together.

and i just destroyed all of that......

i am almost griefstricken at what i have done.

LazyLinePainterJane · 29/09/2007 16:49

oh queen

Is he moving out? What happened?

bramblina · 29/09/2007 23:10

QR I'm so sorry. Surely it isn't something you have done? It needent be too bad for your ds, don't think he will suffer as he may well not. All he needs is love and I'm quite sure by the sounds of things he'll have plenty. Not wanting to go on too much on this thread, have you started another?

josey · 29/09/2007 23:16

QR thoughts are with you, I have been in the same situation with my DS so understand what you are going through. Try not to worry, kids are strong and survive these things, he is also young enough that he wont remember IYKWIM

Azure · 01/10/2007 13:47

QR so sorry to hear your news. Take each day as it comes. The love you give your DS is what matters most.

queenrollo · 02/10/2007 21:58

i have another thread in the Relationships section.....called 'after much soul searching......'
I am staying with friends for a few days, dp has taken the week off work to look after ds.
Dp is staying in the spare room, we haven't really got any further than that.
I don't want to break up my family but can't envisage staying in an unhappy relationship just so ds has both parents under one roof.
Today dp has suggested he would like primary care of ds.....so just as i thought i was finding a level in my head to work from i've been turned upside down again.

I hope you're getting the support you need at this difficult time.

pookey · 13/10/2007 21:30

Really, really sorry to hear your news quenrollo it must be so difficult for you.

Congratulations Bramblina, I remember you were thinking of ttc!

I had a baby girl in July she weighed 9lb and started off back to back, but I dilated 8 cms in about an hour and had no pain relief yay! I have had mastitis and a breast abscess though, my 14th medical app about this is schedulef for next week. keep trecking to hosp with my my double buggy and mum in tow to look after ds an dd while I am aspirated (someone called it my entourage lol)! Have managed to avoid an op and continue 100% bf so feel lucky really.

Things have been much easier this time round and ds is company but obv dd does not get as much attention as he did (probably no bad thing). Ds has suffered a little with jealousy though and has slept through on only the odd night since she was born. DD has been a little angel baby but she has started teething already red cheeks, drool, bitting fist the works.

I think DS is teething he keeps saying his teeth hurt but I may have to take him to the dentist incase it is decay? His eating is not great and I need to make more effort and cook him proper meals . His speech is fantastic really clear and he memorises lines from books (with word missed out here and there of course!). he is going to be a bit of a cheeky smart alec though I think... he is already like a stropy teenager sometimes but then my sweet baby at other times.

queenrollo · 16/10/2007 09:22

things are ok here.....exdp and i getting on very well. he's given up his weekday job and is just doing his music at weekends. he's been looking after ds most of the time during the week.....and made me realise i was really ready for a break. it feels awful to admit i've not being enjoying mummyhood........but having some space means i'm finding ds much easier.
still haven't made any decisions about the future. looking into nursing as a career, but need to get my self confidence back before i start anything!

hope everyone is well..

Azure · 23/10/2007 21:10

QR glad things are settling. Pookey, congrats on your DD - sorry to hear the difficulties you've had but glad you're pulling through. Your DS's speech sounds amazing - my DS2 can still only say the odd word (useful things like bridge and train!). We went to Mallorca last week (DS1 has a 2-week half term) and had a great time. The weather was lovely apart from one day and we were able to catch the last rays of sun before winter. It seems so autumnal since we've returned. I felt rather sad when I packed away DS2's summer clothes after we got back, as they won't be worn again. I'm going to have to have an almighty sale of clothes soon as the storage boxes are piling up.

Hope everyone's well and enjoying half-term, if applicable.
