Pinions, rain check as in i'll take a rain check ie don't want to to it now maybe another time, she was LOL as it's also raining which means they couldn't do what was planned. Think that's right

SOKL, Georgia was on Farleys and Harry's on aptamil.

mammyjo · 07/05/2007 18:00

Sorry about this post but need to vent and dont think Ffion will be very interested!
I feel like I want to punch my dh. He is so bloody unreasonable and I am completely sick of it. I am fed up of being taken for granted around the house, things are just left lying around as he knows I will tidy up. Dishes are just left in the sink as he also knows I will do that too. Maybe I should leave it but I cant stand the mess. I got a bit extra in my pay this month so I cleared some debt and paid £130 off his credit card. He got a bonus and what does he do? He goes and spends the lot on himself. Selfish bastard. I know this is so petty but I am fed up of being the one who has to sort everything. I suppose it goes with being a female but its driving me mad. I dont want grand gestures, just the odd bottle of wine or some chocs would do me. Maybe its just me being over sensitive. AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH.

Eddas · 07/05/2007 18:03

Lucewheel, don't you have a 'look'?

Mammyjo, on your behalf at lazy dh. Mine's very good, can't complain at all.

oh and nutty I agree that a newborn does tend to sleep most of the time you're out, so maybe don't worry about the crying thing just yet. My 'look' has been in use since dd started talking and walking, at about one!!!

Eddas · 07/05/2007 18:08

xpost mammyjo. Don't think you're being oversensitive at all. I don't think that men think sometimes. Would it not help to tell him? Or would he just ignore you anyway?

nuttygirl · 07/05/2007 18:20

Mammyjo - at your DH. Men never seem to take the responsibility. Shove him in the spare room and dump all the messy stuff IN the spare bed .

Thanks all for your replies. Pinions unfortunately I'm not going to Leeds on Sat...wish I was, it seems quite baby friendly. DH has a works thing on in York (company weekend on Fri & Sat) and this year they're finishing in the morning on Sat. As DH isn't staying overnight I thought it would be nice to go to York for the day (DH will meet us after his thing finishes). I know some of the shops in York are v small and not pushchair friendly (and there's cobbled streets to contend with!)...a lot of them have steps aswell. Have had to think long and hard about where to go for a drink so I can feed Erin. Hopefully she'll sleep but she tends to be quite awake in the mornings . I've ordered a sling today, if it arrives in time I'll use that .

LOL @ the 'look'. DH said just ask someone to carry the tray but I was a bit worried if it was busy people in the queue might give me funny looks. Have decided if they do I'm just gonna say "Well you haven't offered to help" ...I think I'm getting used to this mum thing already

Bugmum · 07/05/2007 19:32

Hello All,
I thought DS2 was a far more chilled baby than the colicky nightmare that was DS1. I was wrong. He hasn't slept ALL day, and has been a real pain since yesterday evening . Not his fault, I do know that, and because of DS1's reactions to crying I know too that I deal with it by shoving a boob in where perhaps I might not do that if DS1 wasn't bothered by the crying. Feel like Crap Mummy today.

Oh well. Pinions - could it be piles? They aren't always bunches of grapes

LuceWheel - sounds like a UTI to me, sweetheart. Get it checked asap, as they can take a while to clear (there's lots we can't take for them if bfing, and I seem to remember you are?).

Mammyjo - No, you are NOT being over-sensitive. Sheesh. I cannot believe some men. Is there any way you can talk about it nicely over a bottle of wine? Thus putting yourself wholly on the moral highground, as you will be telling him how you feel rather than ranting (not that you wouldn't be entitled to rant, frankly!!)? Or would he not listen?

SOKL - I too think green poo is normal, but maybe that's wishful thinking as DS2's is sometimes green.

Bloody baby just started crying again after a nanosecond reprieve (hope you see this, runny )

Love to all xx

CaptainDippy · 07/05/2007 20:43

Evening! Has been a bit of a non-event today, really, but has been nice to be with my little family all the same! Finally got out of the house at 4pm - took the sproglets to the park in the pouring rain - was very funny! DH wanted to "wear" DD3 in the sling, bless him - He is really is a big girl .... he loves shopping and trying on clothes and he esp loves all baby stuff like slings and cute wraps and wee pretty pink clothes .... he was MADE to have baby girls!!

Tee! Hee!

Hope everyone else has had nice Bank Holidays ..... Last day with DH at home tomrorow.

Well - have managed to get three of them to bed while dh plays golf - ernie giving it some welly but when I pick him up he stops crying, yawns, puts his head on my shoulder and goes to sleep aarrrghhh! So am leaving him for a bit to see if he just passes out!

Bugmum - nanosecond reprieve LOL - know just how you feel!

Lucewheel - def a UTI - get some antibiotics and that should sort it out. Is there anyone left who hasn't had a wee infection??

Mammyjo - crap dh - think some tears are reqauired honey - don't store up your anger - let it out and tell him you need help - always works with my dh and usually get some chocolate or flowers thrown in! There are moments when I see a glint of 'why do I have to do ...' in his eye when I ask him to do stuff - but just cut him dead with something about being up in the night or had crying baby for two hours - guilt is def the winner around here!

Nutty

  1. Always get someone to carry your tray - most places do offer - if they don't - ask.
  2. Never leave your pushchair anywhere - in Bath loads of the shops have steps/narrow doors/changing rooms upstairs etc - so don't tend to take pushchair if know going to certain places - would take sling. Tend to go to The Mall at cribbs causeway - all flat and no doors! Also be wary of your handbag on your pushchair.
  3. If a place doesn't take pushchairs I wouldn't go in at all.
  4. Hmmmmm screaming baby and shops - sounds mighty familiar - ds1 used to scream as I walked into a shop when he was a toddler and would stop when left People used to give me funny looks but just used to say something ridiculous back like - he doesn't like pink or he wanted to go to the pub. When you have a baby people are much more vocal about what they think - you may find that most people think he needs a feed, nappy change or a sleep - some people will even tell you to rock his pushchair or use a dummy - its great - you simply slip on your shit shield (now it really comes into its own) - and all remarks are simply deflected. Good responses are 'hmmmm' or a simple knowing nod at them - make sure you have a twinkle of sarcasm in your eyes

Or a simple 'thank you for your advice, how thoughtful of you' - normally shuts them up!

Ernie has gone to sleep I knew he was playing silly buggers! All quiet in the octo household - time for a glass of wine!

I have changed ds2 party to soft play The whole jungle party thing was too much to deal with - think may get some jungle helium balloons for them instead! If anyone knows where can get picture of a parrot cake (LOL) please let me know!

This week I am going to make a concerted effort to get out more with the pushchair and do stuff rather than just sitting at home trying to get him to sleep! Wish me luck ...

In fact its dh last week off - so going to make most of him being here!

CaptainDippy · 07/05/2007 20:44

Hello Octo!!

Oooooooooh, glass of wine .......

nuttygirl · 07/05/2007 20:49

CD - lol @ your DH, sounds like a sweetie. I bought a sling today and DH let me have the girly fabric!!! (Hoping he's gonna let me get another so I can always use the fabric as a bargaining tool!)

Bugmum - sorry to hear it's so difficult. I don't know how all of you with other LOs manage, everything's like a military operation with just one! I'm v much in awe

octo · 07/05/2007 20:51

yummy red rioja

... ernie awake again but doing the settling noise ... leave him or intervene - finish wine first maybe ?????!!!!!

We are a blue household here CD - dh only does boy sperm LOL!

Can I just say how cute Ernie is and how yummy he is I love it when he has nothing on and his skin is so lovely and pink and soft and odd bits of fluffy hair - and down his ears if you look closely he has a row of tiny little hairs and on his forehead he has hairs that go in a circular pattern like on top of your head or a fingerprint and the bottom of his feet are sooo soft ... ooh gone all gooey

CaptainDippy · 07/05/2007 20:52

Oooooh - what sling did you buy, nutty!!!!? (I am a bonafide "SLing Whore"!!!! )

nuttygirl · 07/05/2007 20:55

Hi Octo - x-posted with you! Thanks for answering my q's...am hoping my sling arrives before Sat. Think I'm a bit oversensitive about people's comments at the moment cos I didn't really look after Erin much when I was ill (Mum & DH did all the work) and so still feel a bit of a newbie!

nuttygirl · 07/05/2007 20:56

Ooohh..hang on, I've forgotten what it's called

CaptainDippy · 07/05/2007 20:56

nuttygirl · 07/05/2007 20:58

It's from here the hotslings cotton stretch one in the designer fabric called sweet pea.

Am becoming a slingaholic tho...I want a wrap one and a ring sling too. Just have to convince DH.

eca · 07/05/2007 20:58

hi all

Just popping in quickly. I'm shattered after a weekend of non-stop visitors and painiful bf and an upset boy. Had my niece down for the day today and my nephew's girlfriend. I think they had come to play babies. It was lovely to see them, but I have to confess I got a bit annoyed at dn's girlfriend. She kept poking and prodding and tickling T ALL THE TIME when he was asleep to try to wake him up. She seemed to think this was perfectly acceptable. I was getting more and more annoyed. I had to refrain from screaming at her DON'T WAKE HIM, BECAUSE WHEN YOU DO HE WANTS TO FEEEEEEEED NOT PLAY AND MY NIPPLES NEED A BREAK!!!!! Then the icing on the cake was when I turned round to find her trying to give T some fresh orange juice off her finger !!! I know she didn't know any better, but she just seemed to do these things without even saying 'is it ok?' GRRRRRR It's stressed me out !!!

Anyway, thankfully we've got a quiet day tomorrow, with just the 3 of us. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on some sleep.

Hope everyone's doing ok tonight. xx

CaptainDippy · 07/05/2007 21:01

Ooooh, I have got that one in sweet pea too nutty!! It is fab!!

Octo - DD1 is 3.3 and DD2 is 23m; so do you think your boys might go for the younger laydees!!!? DD1 is a brunette with BIG eyes and a quiet, thoughtful personality and DD2 is a blonde and a bit psycho!!! [
