So many August bus babies have arrived already! Anyone else fancy a chat during night feeds or wondering what to make of the contents of tiny nappies? Might as well get comfortable...

Oh Pear that's really frustrating Sad Flowers

Biscuitswithtea · 03/09/2016 07:28

On the plus side, maybe the ranitadine will crack it Pear That's great that she slept a bit better last night :)

LotsOfDots · 03/09/2016 08:26

sophia that sounds grim, hope it eases soon.

pear hope the sleep improvement is going to continue!

christine it's baby friendly screenings at the cinema, so the lights are left on a little bit, the volume is a bit lower and most importantly you have to have a baby with you so no one is judging you - they are all In the same boat! I don't recall hearing any crying this week but there probably was, it doesn't really register unless it is your own! At our local cinema you also get a cup of tea or coffee in the ticket price.

CheeseandGherkins · 03/09/2016 08:41

Daytona wow an hour! That's a great walk. I'm nowhere near ready for that. Freya is 2 weeks old now and I'm so fed up of not being able to do everything I want to. Well done on being back to pre pregnancy weight. I'm also back to mine, I didn't put much on though due to the GD but I'm making up for that by eating loads of chocolate now!

Christine congratulations. Lovely name. Are you getting on ok?

Plimsolls that sounds really difficult for you. I've had a few up and down days definitely and I'm two weeks post natal also. I imagine hormones have a lot to answer for. Do speak to your gp if you're worried or struggling though, or your hv if they are any good. I love learning about Freya and her personality. The new things every day are lovely to see and I really feel like I'm getting to know her.

Pear oh that's annoying isn't it. I was amazed at how dairy is in seemingly everything. Checking labels constantly took an age. Hope you get through the next week and then enjoy eating again. I was so miserable without dairy. My dd3 has reflux and was born at 34 weeks. Whilst in the nicu she was put on domperidone and ranitidine which helped a little but not lots. She had awful projectile vomiting after every feed and you could see she was in pain with it all coming up in her throat at times. Some babies also have silent reflux. We had to keep her upright for at least half an hour after feeds to try to help her and also prop the end of her basket up so she wasn't lying flat.

Had a good night here, feeds every 2 hours or so and been up since 7. Dh got up with dd4 at 6 and is going to take her and dd3 to soft play after I think. I plan to shower soon, get a tea or coffee and then get dressed. Maybe find something to watch on Netflix for when they're out. The boys' are at their dads house this weekend so it's just us girls, dh is outnumbered! Dd1 will also be around, she's 14 and no longer has contact with ex, hasn't for a couple of years. I imagine she will go out with her friends so it'll be a quiet house!

I'm still annoyingly unable to get on with things, taking it easy is so frustrating. Hope everyone has a good weekend

peardrop2 · 03/09/2016 08:55

Sloth I forgot to mention that both DS and DD had\have silent reflux which means they're not projecting up lots of milk

Slothlikesundays · 03/09/2016 11:00

Thanks for all the advice on reflux, going to make a doctors appointment as she's only happy when upright so we were up every 30 mins last night. Feel much better after a decent dog walk though - love not having pgp any more!
Well done Daytona! I'm still 1 1/2 stone off pre pregnancy weight. I put on almost 4 stone though so I guess it's not bad going in two weeks. Not too bothered though as I chucked out most of my none maternity clothes so even if I was small again I'd have nothing to wear Grin
Cheese glad you had a good night Smile
Also never knew about baby friendly cinema showings. Might have to go this week as the weather looks like it's going to be rubbish. It just started raining half way through the dog walk. Fortunately Forked out for the ergobaby 360 sling, after a disastrous walk last week with a boba stretchy sling. Can't recommend the ergobaby enough. Really sturdy, felt very safe and she was in a really good position. It has a rain/sum head support so dd stayed nice and dry. The rest of us got a bit soggy though!

Daytona79 · 03/09/2016 12:23

Sloth that's fab weight loss, yeah I only had 1stone 10lb to lose so wasn't hard.

I've had a terrible night , toddler kept me awake all night as full of cold my husband got woke at 3am by him and gave up and took him down stairs but baby woke at 4am and likes to cluster feed till 6am so I've not slept yet.

Really wanted to clean my kitchen top to toe today and husband moaned at me to relax on sofa but I couldn't lol knowing it needed done so did it, we heading off to park and feed ducks after lunch as toddlers wants to go out

I struggle to sleep so hoping by time 8pm comes and I've put toddler to bed I will be able to go and actually sleep

Baby normally goes to sleep about 8-10pm them sleeps till 12-2am roughly

So hoping I will manage a few hours

Those struggling with non sleeping, non putting down babys you have my sympathy, it's awful

My DS1 was a nightmare , screamed constant day and night till 12 weeks old, it was bloody tough going , I'm so relieved this time round that DS2 isn't appearing to follow suit

Just hang in there it normally passes by 12 weeks well the screaming and not settling , he never really slept well and doesn't to this day.

LotsOfDots · 03/09/2016 14:26

Sloth baby cinema is one of my favourite things - I think odeon call it 'newbies', but I think all the big chains do it now. I go to an independent cinema and we get a hot drink with the ticket price (£6).

I haven't weighed myself since before I conceived. I'm planning to go to weight watchers once I get to 6 weeks post natal, I did this after DD2 and it worked really well for me. I'd guess I'll have 2 or 3 stone to lose at least, judging by the fit of my clothes. I am trying to get out for a walk with the pram every day if possible, and do my 10,000 steps. If I drop the girls at school and then walk to Waitrose for a coffee and walk home, it's almost exactly 10,000 - it's like it's meant to be Grin just have to ensure I buy a banana to eat instead of a cake!

Christinedonna · 03/09/2016 14:34

Wow I never knew about child friendly cinema screenings. What a lovely idea! Sympathies to everyone struggling with lack of sleep. I appear to be blessed with a very chilled out baby that takes after her daddy and sleeps like a log. Last night she had a bottle at 11:30/12 and didn't wake up for another one until 5:20! I thought being tired was confusing me and I'd forgotten that I had fed her inbetween (happens a lot) but she had slept through! Having a major organising day today. Can't stop until the whole house is done. (Apart from like now for little cuddles)

Christinedonna · 03/09/2016 14:44

And oh wow! The sweet smelling poos have gone. What just came out of my child was a real shit. No wonder she was working so hard on it.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 03/09/2016 17:52

Christine fab birth story! After waiting that long she clearly wasn't going to hang around when she did decide to arrive! Glad all went well - do you feel like pregnancy was worth it?!
Pear how annoying re bread (and turkey slices, wtf!?). It is totally ridiculous how many things unexpectedly contain dairy and/or soya. Fwiw, co-op's fresh baked bread is all dairy and soya free, if you have a co-op near you. Excellent news that the ranitidine seems to be making a difference though, everything crossed for you for another half-decent night tonight, preferably without your DS waking up this time!
Day I often think your DS1 and my DD must have had a word at some point - she wasn't a screamer so much but she just never fecking slept! She was still up every hour at 6mo and is still very hit and miss even now at 4 years old. It took me 3 years to recover enough to think about having another! Like you, I'm having a vastly easier time this time and I'm so, so relieved - another one like her would've pushed me over the edge I think. Also well done to you and Cheese on going back to prepregnancy weight! I'm still half a stone up, boo. I look back to normal though so I'm telling myself the half-stone is all in the bf boobs Grin did day 1 of the 30 day shred today too, want to firm up the jiggly post-baby bits.
Cheese we have a stretchy wrap - it's been great so far but DS is such a chunk that I'm starting to feel it in my back now so may have to think about something a bit sturdier soon.
Feeling a bit guilty about all you sensible ladies taking your babies to the baby cinema - have been with DS twice, both times to normal showings! He saw The BFG at a few days old and Finding Dory a week or two ago - it's my secret weapon for when I need to get out with DD but can't be bothered to do anything. He was fine both times thankfully.

Well after witching hour(s) last night me and DS went to sleep about half 11 - he went right through to half 4! AMAZING, thought I...until he then completely refused to go back to sleep. Tried everything but no joy. Finally went and dumped him on DH at half 6 but was still knackered today. DH out all day and I spent the day at home as just couldn't be bothered to get it together to go out (plus to be fair it was pouring all day!). DD was very good, pottered around doing her own thing and watched shitloads of telly. Honestly don't know how some of you are functioning right now on so little kip, I take my hat off to all of you. Sending the Chocolate and Brew round to anyone who needs it!

CheeseandGherkins · 03/09/2016 18:07

Pear with dd3 it was like a horror film when she was sick, it went so far. Dh had a knack of always being thrown up on too Grin

Sloth do you have a newborn insert for the ergo? Not sure if that's the same one I have but I never got on with the insert.

Daytona I admire you for doing all that cleaning, I'm tired just thinking about it! I hope you're getting some rest and that you have a better night tonight.

Lots I get nowhere near 10k steps, well done to you if you plan on doing that. Sounds like a lovely walk though and enjoy the coffee. The odd cake won't hurt I'm sure Wink

Christine that's a great chunk of sleep there, hope it continues

Coco I still look 3 months pregnant even though the weight went. I'm wearing maternity leggings for comfort as my tummy is sore and swollen still. Hang on, you did the shred?! Wow. I did a day of that pre pregnancy and thought I was going to die! Well done! I found the ergo to be really good for weight distribution and being kind to your back. Hope tonight is a better one for you.

Anyone else looking forward to the X factor tonight? I'm really enjoying it. Had some Netflix time with just me and Freya earlier as dh took dd3 and dd4 to soft play, dd1 also decided to go along too. Freya's cord finally fell off the night before last too. Took a while.

Christinedonna · 03/09/2016 18:37

four once she was ready she was ready! Very glad it's over, she makes it all worth it but I still really don't think I could bring myself to ever do it again!..unless I miraculously forget.
cheese I'm still wearing my maternity clothes but feel horrible for having to do so. Leggings that come up over my belly and emphasise it..and tops where the seam on the side is clearly maternity make me feel like everyone's looking at me thinking "she can't shift the weight" going shopping on Friday for new clothes and have mixed feelings about it. New clothes but big number on the tag and having to actually admit to myself I'm no longer as small as I was (never been particularly small but never this big). I had such plans to lose weight when I was pregnant, join a gym, exercise, eat healthy etc. But when will I ever find the time to go to the gym now?? And if I do, I won't want to leave her. Being here with her is just so much more appealing than anything else & bad food is so much easier than healthy food.

Slothlikesundays · 03/09/2016 19:26

Cheese yes we have the newborn insert. So far no dramas and she's been in it for an hour at a time.
Christine I'm feeling the same about having to buy new clothes. And I'm glad your little one is a chilled baby. You had a difficult pregnancy so definitely are owed one!
Lots it was clearly meant to be that little run round. Think I'd reach 10,000 steps more often if the prospect of a waitrose coffee was dangled in front of me.

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 03/09/2016 23:28

Our day just us two went well. I even managed to make myself sims dinner and eat it!

pear it sounds rough trying to work out all the food!

christine welcome back and congrats. I wouldn't be worrying about clothes and wait- you've only just had her. It will come.

four well done on the shred, sounds like your recovery is going well!

I've lost 2 stone in 5weeks but still a little bit to go. I'm back in my own clothes but still s bit snug. Not in any particular rush though.
I've been using a hana wrap with DD. It was great st the cinema because she slept so much in it. I have a Tula for when she's a bit bigger though.

Hope everybody had s good night tonight! We've had an odd night as was driving over cluster feeding time and she's had an expressed bottle so she's a bit confused about what she's doing just now. Hoping she goes down shortly.

peardrop2 · 04/09/2016 03:22

Feeling guilty but so much better for it... Made DH do the 12-3am shift tonight after a day's work Confused I knew it was this time slot that I needed to sleep again. DH practically just threw the baby to me in a strop saying he's going to bed Grin

BellaGoth · 04/09/2016 05:29

Just had a good 3 hour stretch of sleep which was nice! Hoping DD goes back to sleep again soon so I can make the most of not having to get up early with DS.

The boys are having a fabulous time camping. DS rang me yesterday to check I was looking after the baby and tell me that daddy absolutely did NOT feed him smarties all day!

Re: weight loss, if you're breastfeeding you'll probably see the weight come off. I lost 3 stone after I had DS! Unfortunately I got into really bad eating habits and when I stopped feeding him the weight piled back on. I'm a few pounds below my pre pregnancy weight now, but lost over a stone whilst pregnant due to hyperemisis! I don't recommend that as a weight loss technique... Hmm

Christinedonna · 04/09/2016 07:46

Well I DEFINITELY spoke too soon! Last night Alice wouldn't settle anywhere but in bed with us. Just given her a bottle and she's straight back to sleep, OH didn't even wake up and I have about an inch on the edge of the bed. She looks so peaceful, he looks like he could do with a nudge off the bed

Christinedonna · 04/09/2016 10:52

This is not a "I got back on the horse" announcement. My child just projectile vomited in my bed

August 2016 - early arrivals to the newborn cuddles & graveyard feeding shifts
Lou2711 · 04/09/2016 12:35

Morning ladies,
Annie Sophia arrived Thursday morning at 9:05, weighing 7 pounds 12.
Went to hospital weds to discover I was already in labour at 4cm dilated and cervix totally effaced. So they didn't need to give me the pessary and decided to break my waters as I only had back pain... To discover they'd already broken (probably in the first examination when I got there). So then gave me the drip to encourage contractions to start in the front. Turns out all my labour was in my back and not the front, but the drip caused me to have 7 contractions in 10, which the gas and air and pethedine helped with but it was intense and I was high as a kite! Got ready to push at 8:57 and she was here by 9:05!! They said her head would come out on the push last push, however we had different plans and the whole of her came out in one and flew down the bed, the midwifes barely had chance to catch her. Left with a small 2nd degree tear and no muscle damage. Feeling great and loving life with my little lady, bf is going well (I think), but she's had the odd ff so mummy could have a well earned rest Grin
Here's a pic Smile

August 2016 - early arrivals to the newborn cuddles & graveyard feeding shifts
Biscuitswithtea · 04/09/2016 12:44

Am irrationally jealous of your handing DD over for 3hrs pear. Irrational because my DD will usually sleep for 3+ hrs once or twice in the night anyway. But because I am bf her, there's no point in DH getting up so I do all the night stuff with her. He usually doesn't stir when she wakes. And whilst she is an infinitely better sleeper than DS was, I've not had a decent night sleep for nearly 8wks now and I am feeling tired and grumpy today.
DS is clingy to me which is understandable but when one or other sprog is needing me in such a full on way all day long and I am tired, it leaves me feeling like I am not doing a very good job at the moment :(
We have a party to go to this afternoon which I need like a hole in the head but hey ho.

So far we have taken DS swimming and to softplay.

Clearly I need some more coffee, put on my Big Girl pants, give myself a kick up the arse and get on with the day!

Biscuitswithtea · 04/09/2016 13:05

Xpost Lou - congratulations!

Re clothes and weight loss, I only have 3-4 pounds to go before I am at my pre pregnancy weight. But my shape is different at the moment - my hips are def wider still. I think they will/are narrowing again but it takes time. In the meantime only some trousers fit me.
I have started running again, albeit slowly. After DS I lost an extra half stone during mat leave, mostly from walking miles with the buggy.

peardrop2 · 04/09/2016 13:30

Sorry why are you jealous Biscuits? I'd swap with your pattern any day! I ebf too but as you know DD has only ever slept in her cot for approx 1hr so I've never had anything close to 3hrs. You definitely have the better deal Grin

Biscuitswithtea · 04/09/2016 13:50

Oh I know Pear!! It's totally illogical. I think it's the idea of being asleep for a little while without having an ear open for DD stirring next to me. That's all. Her sleep pattern is pretty bloody amazing really, I know that & appreciate that hugely!

Sophia1984 · 04/09/2016 18:14

I think my little guy might have reflux. He brings up cottage cheesy spit after every feed, squirms and grunts as if his tummy is really hurting , arches his back and pushes away from my breast and pulls at my nipple and comes off screaming. Also his nappies smell of vinegar. Does that sound like it? Planning to go to doctors tomorrow. Don't think it's colic as he isn't screaming for hours.. touch wood.
