Am loving all these smiley baby photos!

Bedtime here is anytime between 7-9pm. We don't do a bedtime routine. He just falls asleep when he's ready in the moses basket downstairs and then we transfer to crib later.

Missi wow, can't believe weaning has started already on this thread. How exciting, let us know how you get on.

Time so glad to hear things are going better. DS1 had a flat head as he had a torn tendon in his neck from the forceps delivery and wouldn't look right for ages. At 4, you really can't tell now, so either it's grown fine or hair covers it!

Hope all the tired, grumpy babies settle soon. J had his BCG today but no obvious effects. He napped for most of the afternoon though. Here he is doing happy tummy time.
Purple this lasts approx 2 mins before we have to turn him back over!

Wow what beautiful babies! rhu I'm very impressed with how high he can happily lift himself! My money's on J being an early crawler Grin

ffaux thanks for sharing those docs, really good night-feed-reading!

No bedtime routine yet here because I'm too lazy and also want to keep cuddling him on the sofa

DH has driven me mad this last 12 hours! He came home at 1745, DD was a pain at dinner which escalated into him putting her straight to bed at 1815. He then went out and I had 2 hours of shenanigans from her but I had to follow through with his ridiculous punishment whist also giving DS1 some attention and do his reading etc and settle DS2.
So this morning, the older 2 got up at 6 - they have a lamp on their room that comes on at 7 and the rule is they wait/play quietly until then...DS1 comes in and DH authorises him to get dressed and play with Lego, cue DD also wanting to be up for the day which means basically resuming where she left off last night. Meanwhile DH (who has been asleep all night which I obviously have not) lies in bed and I deal with the fall out. Grrr. The noise has now woken DS2 so at least I'm in bed feeding and have kicked him out to deal with the other 2.

Sorry, that's quite a rant! Thanks for 'listening'.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 08/06/2016 09:46

Very impressive head lifting rhu! DD2 had her bcg jab last week and didn't really have any effects. I haven't noticed a reaction on her skin yet but I think it takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks for it to happen.

Loving all these baby pictures- keep them coming!

Another awful night here. DD2 slept 7-11 then was up at 11, 12 and 1. At 1 she started refusing boob so I woke DH up as she started screaming. He tried to rock her to sleep but she was still screaming her head off so he changed her nappy and gave her some calpol, then we had a massive argument about fuck all, just tired snapping at one another which escalated massively and was really unpleasant. Finally DH got her to sleep and held her in bed till he was sure she was asleep. She then woke up at 3 and I just co slept with her till nearly 8 as DH let me lie in. Was awful. She's struggling to nap again today, I put her in the sling about 9.15 and she's only just popped off to sleep, not sure how long it will last. So unbelievably tired! It's definitely a caffeine day today! I've got yoga this afternoon which will be nice and relaxing (hopefully) and is followed by cake so have that to look forward to.

magpiedreams · 08/06/2016 10:13

Ah marmite that sounds like a horrible night. Brew CakeChocolate for you today. Hope she has a decent nap for you now. DS2 has fought a nap for almost an hour here too and just dosed off on the boob. I think it's too hot and stuffy for babies. Hope your yoga class is good.

Paperblank · 08/06/2016 12:23

Sympathy, Brew,Cake and a ((hug)) for you both Magpie and Marmite (and anyone else who needs one)

We do have the cutest bunch of babies. Even when they are being sods they are still our perfect little bundles.

Having said that, I nearly put M on ebay last night. She threw up all over DH the second he picked he up (she does it every time...) I escaped for a bath at 9 and she screamed. I gave up at 9.30, got out the bath, started feeding her and she was all smiles. I'm going on a hen do in two weeks - DH is in for a hellish 48 hours Confused.

Hmm dd has found her thumb and loves to suck it more than a dummy. Obviously I can't stop her as the dummy falls out in her sleep and she replaces it with her thumb.
Will this become a terrible habit or should I just go with it ?
Shes been interested in her thumb for the last week or so.
Sorry to hear about all the bad sleep and non napping babies. It's hard isn't it. Sofa day today. Feeling anxious though as c is hard work today and cant wait for oh to get home. He had her last night and I slept 10-5am. He said she only woke three times but took a long time to settle each time as was all smiley and wanted to play

Oh sympathies marmite and magpie BrewBrewBrew

I'm having more arguments with DH lately, MIL being here so long doesn't help. His work has got quite stressful lately and I feel a sorry for him, but it's meant he's helping less. He unloaded shopping yesterday and hit his head on a cupboard, then complained that every time he does a good deed he hurts himself. He said it in a lighthearted way but I jumped on the 'good deed' comment with a 'WTF?' and had a right moan at him! Like it was my job and he was oh so kind to help! He also said once that he has two jobs (work in day and baby in evening) and I only have one (baby)!!! Sometimes it feels like a constant battle to prove who has it harder. Grrr!

Anyway gorgeous baby photos all, they really are a cute bunch aren't they??!

time DD is also finding her thumb and I was wondering the same thing. I think it's good that they are learning to self soothe though?

docmcstuffins1 · 08/06/2016 16:19

Ffaux I feel your pain. DH come home from work and asks me what I've been doing all day, he's trying to be nice but I always feel like there's a bit of criticism in there for all the things housework I haven't had time to do. He's been much better since he was in sole charge while I had my hair done. He said "how do you manage to get anything done?" which made me feel quite very smug.

Gorgeous photos everyone. I'm joining in with the tummy time photos, Ollie doesn't mind being on his front, but can only hold his head up for a minute or so, and then he face-plants into the mat so we turn him back over.

Beautiful babies everyone! Here's one of R in her last Moses basket snooze - can't believe how fast they are growing, she gets annoyed bit getting her arms out to sleep in it so daytime naps are now in the pram or on the play mat..

I take my hat off to all of you with more than one DC.. I've had my nephew for three days with my sister here as well and it's still been a mammoth effort juggling them and getting two of them out the house!

Missi can't believe Z is being weaned already hope it's going well!

Hope everyone is managing to enjoy the sunshine.. Now I'm back to just the one child in the house going to catch up on the other posts!

rhu, what a beautiful photo, he is really getting his chest up. E gets less far up but the main impediment to any crawling is that her legs are both up in the air.

vroc I am not looking forward to moving on from the moses basket, with 2 dogs (1 pup) in the house it has been so convenient to have her in a basket on a side table. I'll have to watch pup like a hawk if she is in a bouncy chair.

missi' hope the weaning is going well, must feel funny when he is so small.

Do reusable nappy users here line with disposable liners or microfleece? We had planned to move to reusables when E was pooing less but we get 4-5 runny poos a day so bit the bullet and have been using reusables as if a couple of days. My sis gave me some disposable liners so using those but they don't seem to catch much of the poo and aren't particularly soft so might fleece be better?

magpiedreams · 09/06/2016 12:38

1french we use these www.amazon.co.uk/Multipurpose-Purest-Bamboo-Nappy-Liners/dp/B0089GWLJA
They are lovely and soft and do seem to catch all the poo though I do find you have to do an immediate change to prevent poo leakage whereas with a disposable you can get away with leaving it a few mins if necessary.

ffauxlivia · 09/06/2016 13:38

doc haha I was hoping for the same reaction when DH was in sole charge for 2 hours last weekend, but sadly not! I'll just have to leave him with her for a whole day next time :)

Yukky question but do you know what it normal discharge for us at this point? I thought you remained pretty dry until after finishing BF and periods starting, but this week I've had a lot of the egg white type discharge I used to obsess over when TTC! I also had one day of pinky discharge the other day and I often used to bleed a bit around ovulation, so I'm wondering if I am ovulating and to expect my period? Will be pretty gutted as mine are super painful thanks to endo, and I'll take it as another indication of my crappy low milk supply :(

TheMshipIsBack · 09/06/2016 17:39

1french we use bambino mio flushable liners on top of micro fleece. Very few leaks.

Swearwolf · 09/06/2016 22:26

Loving the photos ladies! They're all proper babies now, not newborns any more.

French, my MIL had the same worry about ds around her dogs, and she bought this awesome rocker chair that goes up to different heights so the dogs can't reach - this. It's great, and S has been in it several times and prefers it to the bouncer we have at home. Not sure if it's too expensive, but could be an option.

We were back at the hospital today - S had her casts off for good (we've got a splint to put on at night for six weeks though and still have to do the stretching exercises) and got discharged from the hip clinic, meaning we can stop putting her in a double padded nappy Smile She feels very light and skinny without all the extra bulk!

Ds has come out in spots today, chicken pox is doing the rounds and I'm sure this is it. Bad timing as it's too damn hot to be stuck at home in quarantine, and we don't have a garden. S needs walks and fresh air too, no idea how I'm going to get a decent nap out of her! I'm also worrying she's a bit small to get it, though she might be getting immunity through my milk, would it be something to worry about at 12 weeks?

ffauxlivia · 10/06/2016 03:01

Great news swear! The casts that is, not the pox! So from what I've read, chicken pox in babies is likely to be v mild and not serious, as for the first 6 months they have some immunity from being in the womb (more so than from your milk) so I don't think it's anything to be too worried about. Hope she doesn't get it though, I expect it can't be that pleasant for babies even if mild!

FirstTimeMummy25 · 10/06/2016 04:54

Swear- DS was Round both of his cousins the day before they both come out in pox and he dodged them both times. I spoke to the HV the first time as he was only a couple weeks old. She said that when they are new new born to take them to the docs to get checked over as they are so young but once they are over a month then they are at less risk and to ride it out. Luckily DS escaped it both times. The HV did also say sometimes it's better for babies to get it as they can't itch it as much?
Hope they don't get it tho, fingers crossed!

Swearwolf · 10/06/2016 06:34

Thanks both, sounds like it shouldn't be a problem then. I was actually hoping they got it this year as I won't have to take a fortnight off work!

docmcstuffins1 · 10/06/2016 08:00

Yay to the casts coming off swear, but boo to the pox! I also heard that it's better to have them as a baby as it causes less issues with scratching etc. as long as little one is feeding ok etc.

Earlier this week we had 2 nights of 7 hour stretches (10-11 hours in total with one wake up) and got really cocky thinking "yes we've cracked it". Spoke to soon - every 2 hours for the last 2 nights

Woodenmouse · 10/06/2016 09:46

I'm loving the pictures! My little man is growing up way too fast! He learnt to roll from nack to front thhe other week but he can't go front to back! He's so chatty too. His brother loves him, I popped into the kitchen for something the other day and D started crying. When I got back ds1 was say next to him stroking his head and saying it's ok mummy is coming back in a minute.

1frenchfoodie · 10/06/2016 14:02

swear great news on the casts and thanks for the rocker link, Can you give me a rough idea of height (knee, hip etc) as I can't find info online. Our dogs are 40kg lab and 20kg pup so not sure it would be high enough for hands and feet not to get licked but worth a look.

doc similar experience here, a fortnight of 6h sleeps at night and now up every 2.5h. Hopefully just a growth spurt..

Swearwolf · 10/06/2016 14:30

French I'm not sure but it's the right height to sit at the dinner table with us. Probably waist or hip height when standing up. In-laws dogs are whippets and a lurcher so a bit smaller than yours.

Purpleprickles · 10/06/2016 16:07

Hi all, busy hot week here. I also now seem to have a high maintenance baby. From this week she no longer lays happily playing, it's just lots of low level and high level whinging. She's also been sleeping lots so I'm hoping it's a growth or development spurt or something and now the new E! Makes getting things at home done quite tricky. She is lovely when out, just moans at home. Any one else got a baby with a new personality?

Swear great news about the casts! Hope the pox if it is that isn't too bad.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 10/06/2016 19:52

purple we've also had a bit of a personality transplant this week with DD2 being v clingy and still refusing to nap in the day. She even screamed her head off every time I tried to out her in the sling today! I was just like WTH is going on?!

Another crap nights sleep, think it's the new norm Sad. Up every 2 hours again last night -11, 1, 3 and 5. And DD1 woke up for the day at 4! DH got up with her and tried to put her back to bed, worked for like an hour and she was up again. So we're both exhausted today. Have moved dd2 out of the bednest and into her big cot as I'm wondering if she's outgrown it and that's why she's waking . expect we'll find out soon enough tonight!

Euros start tonight which means the small amount of time in the day I have without kids is going to be taken up with football. Boo!

Purpleprickles · 10/06/2016 20:31

Marmite it's reassuring to hear I'm
not alone but I'm also sorry you are going through it too. Dd moans in the pram now too so I've hired the mattress slightly to see if looking out helps. It doesn't really.

Dh came home drunk tonight, work lunch blah blah. I could cry. He does this about once a year and I hate it. I don't care if he goes out but go out at night, don't day drink and then inflict the aftermath on us. I had to tell ds he has a stomach bug, I made half the fucking (sorry) dinner while dancing around for a grizzling E which I'm now not cooking. He didn't even give me a text to say I've been out be warned. I've told him to sleep in the spare bed but last time I was upstairs the fucker (sorry again) was still laying on our bed. I can't be bothered to argue tonight, you never win with a drunk.
