Ohwool you can take ibuprofen. Hope it clears up soon, I've had mild blocked ducts 3 times now and it's awful. Luckily never needed antibiotics though as no skin redness or fever with it, it just cleared with lots of massage and O feeding off that side first each time.

O had his 1st swimming lesson last week (we're with waterbabies), it was ace. You don't need to wait for jabs any more ohwool but when they're little the pool needs to be warmer than normal (guidelines say over 32 degrees Shock if less than 3 months or 12 lb, or 30 degrees from then until 1 year) or they get cold quickly

Swearwolf · 29/05/2016 14:25

I don't want to depress you wool, but I seem to remember something about mastitis and pumped milk. I was in a feverish haze at the time so this might be a mis-remembering, but I think it's ok to give them as long as it's fresh but you can't freeze it. Check that though, don't take my word for it! Glad you're getting antibiotics, what a miserable way to spend the bank holiday.

Very jealous of all this swimming, I can't see when I'll take Sylvie as I'm too nervous to take them both on my own. Might see if my mum wants to go one Monday.

If you're looking for sensory-type things to do, can I recommend those silver blankets used by paramedics and marathon runners? You can get them on Amazon for a couple of quid. I've been getting a lot of use out of the play mat, and we've been doing a lot of singing and wanging the baby around going 'weeeeee'. She seems happy enough!

RhubarbAndMustard · 29/05/2016 16:29

Dom we do the lie-in stand off too! That made me lol.

Vroc very impressed with your 9pm to 7am. J goes down earlier and woke today at 4 but he has gone till 5 the two nights previous to that.

Wool hope it's gets better very soon.

Ffaux superhero baby pic as requested Grin. Party went really well and yay to beautiful sunshine today. Having a well deserved pimms and chill out with J while DP has take DS1 to a family BBQ.

Impressed with those taking their babies swimming! I'm way too chicken to do that with DS now.

Pleased to report he's so far much better today. I've been putting him down for naps at the first sign of grouching (after checking he's not wet/dirty/hungry) and I notice a marked improvement in his mood when I do so.

No pattern to his naps yet though. Also he's consistently waking every 2.5 - 3 hours at night. Where are the 6,5 or even 4 hour stretches I was promised!!!

DomesticAnarchist · 29/05/2016 19:05

I wrote a whole post earlier but lost it.

I also lost the sleep stand-off. I plan on instructing DH that he will be getting up with the children tomorrow (and has to actually supervise DS1).

maybe, we don't have much of a pattern with naps either (though the school run does help with a couple). And he's still feeding every 2.5-3 hours at night as well (I can't remember when we last had a 4-5 hour stretch).

Hope you're feeling better this afternoon OhWool.

We had a shit day out. Went to a nice local lake having a bit of a fun day. DS2 screamed for the first hour (wouldn't feed, though it's difficult to try with a huge audience whose attention is drawn by the sound of a baby being eaten), and then DS1 tantrummed and wailed for the second hour (all with an audience drawn by the sound of an 5 year old being eaten. I didn't eat either of them, btw, apparently the overreacting and screeching is genetic. Joy). Then we went home.

DS2 has continued to be unsettled and out of sync. He's finally fed but is now overtired and wild eyed.

Purpleprickles · 29/05/2016 19:33

Hello all, busy weekend here. It was my birthday Friday and then ds had a party yesterday and out to the cinema today so it's been all go. Friday was an odd day because on my birthday last year I was having an erpc for my mmc so I felt sad an thankful most of the day. Still can't quite believe E is here and ours forever.

Rhu that is the cutest superman I've ever seen. I love the way you've captured the arms in the right pose too Grin

Dom sorry to hear about your mare of a day. Sometimes you wonder why you bother don't you? Setting up nice things for it all to go wrong. Hopefully you get to sleep in tomorrow! I was out last night with a friend and had a few drinks, come the 4am feed dh actually asked me if I was getting up! Erm no I do them all in the middle of the night and I'm not capable after a few glasses of wine!!!

Oh wool hope you got on ok at the dr appt? Sounds horrible Sad

Hi to everyone else I've missed. Oh Ffaux had my mum here this week and she has been trying to get E to hold toys but it's very hit and miss. That's what we do though, basically tempt her with lightweight objects! When she does grab it she makes the cutest "aha" noise.

Me624 · 29/05/2016 19:53

ffaux we're just taking DS swimming ourselves. I looked at water babies but it seemed quite expensive for what it is and it's not as if they will actually learn to swim at this age so we thought we'd take him ourselves and do proper lessons when he's older. I probably wouldn't be confident to do it on my own without DH though!

Purple happy birthday for Friday! DS is the same with trying to hold things, he can sometimes do it if we hand them to him. Today though I had him sat on my lap when we went out for lunch and he grabbed a crisp from my plate [shocked]

Rhu I'm glad your party went well and love the pic of super baby!

Dom sorry you had a stressful day out!

DomesticAnarchist · 29/05/2016 20:11

Thanks for the sympathy. DH is being an arse (not intentionally, and he definitely doesn't realise). He's snoozing downstairs watching the GP while I'm bouncing between the boys trying to get them (and keep them asleep). He'd sent DS1 to bed but not closed his curtains or checked he was actually in bed or anything.

I just popped down to get DS1 his drink and said "oh are you asleep again!".

Was that too passive aggressive?! (I don't think I sounded sarcastic!)

DomesticAnarchist · 29/05/2016 20:12

Oh, I actually meant to post about swimming!

We looked at water babies for DS1 but it was way out of our price range. He started swimming lessons when he was nearly 4 (for a much more reasonable price!) and he's already better than me that's not saying much!

TriJo · 29/05/2016 21:57

The cluster-feeding today is actually taking the piss. He's fed every hour at most since 9am, I am fucking exhausted. :(

1frenchfoodie · 30/05/2016 07:54

rhu love the outfit. E does the superman (wonder woman?) pose a lot but it is not the same without the kit. She is currently dresses as a victorial bather Wink

Hope you got some respite in the night TriJo, I felt like I constantly had my boob out i. Week 6 but we are now 3-4h usually and had a 1 feed night last night, sadly only the 3rd ever..

purple my E does a lot of grabbing (she usualy has hold of her bib, babygro or a muslin) but more by accident than anything. Yesterday though she was looking at a soft toy rabbit we have had for a while and was deliberately reaching for its crinkly ears - eliciting very cute wide eyes then smile when she did get a handful. It is great to see them change.

1frenchfoodie · 30/05/2016 07:55

that would be Victorian, not victorial.

Ohwoolballs · 30/05/2016 08:55

Rhu that picture is gorgeous! So chuffed the party was a blast 🎉

swear awww gaddammit. It's all still in the fridge now thankfully. I'm not sure if the antibiotics are making Gs tummy rumble. He hasn't gone off the boob but the doctor said they sometimes do because the milk changes flavour.

purple belated birthday love! 🍰🍾 what a difference a year makes 💐

maybe I have no idea what kind of schedule G has, except every morning about half six he does a poo that wakes him, laughs and plays for an hour before needing to be rocked to sleep. 😄

Dom hope today is less stressful, and DH pulls his knickers up and helps out properly

I got a quick appt at the out of hours docs yesterday and have started biotics and paracetamol. Already the ache that covered my whole torso has gone back to just boob territory.👍

Ohwoolballs · 30/05/2016 08:59

tri giving your boobs sympathetic vibes! Hope today is more of the sleep aspect of growth spurts.

French loooooovely little girl!

I love all the pictures, we should post more ☺️

Paperblank · 30/05/2016 11:16

Greetings from the sofa. M and I are having a snuggle day.

I don't know what has happened to my DD but she is sleeping... we've had three nights of 9 hour stretches. It's amazing but I think it's a fluke rather than the norm! I could still sleep for a whole day but that's probably because I'm full of cold Sad thanks Dsis.

Hope you got some rest Trijo.

She looks super-cute 1french!

Glad you're feeling better OhWool.

I didn't win this morning's lie-in standoff either. But DH got up sooner, and though DS2 woke up as soon as I tried to go back to bed, DH redeemed himself by taking DS2 in the carrier to do some cooking with DS1 while I had a shower. He still has DS2 in the carrier now!

TriJo · 30/05/2016 11:25

He slept well overnight - bed 10:30pm, feeds 3:30 and 6:15, up at 9, feed 9:15, 10:30, now (11:25)...

Paperblank · 30/05/2016 11:26

Oh bloody hell. Pressed post instead of return. Doh!

We're going to take M swimming in a couple of weeks - she's a happy little splasher in the bath so hopefully she'll be the same in the pool. I was thinking about water babies but it is expensive and as she sleeps all the way through baby sensory we might knock that one on the head after this term and try swimming instead.

Purple I hope you had a lovely day 🎂 it's been a whirlwind year for you Flowers

Love the baby pics. We had very cute babies Grin

Hope everyone is doing well

Xxx

9 weeks today - I thought it would have eased by now!

TheMshipIsBack · 30/05/2016 14:11

tri hope you get a break soon! T's on her second day of cluster feeding in a row. She's 12 weeks today, apparently 3 months is another common growth spurt. Here she is looking stripy.

Me624 · 30/05/2016 14:52

Gorgeous photos french, Paper and MShip. We did make a cute bunch on this thread!

Sorry to hear about the cluster feeding Tri, sounds exhausting. Hole up with a box set?

Our first swim today was a big success! DS cried when he first got in but he soon got over the shock and enjoyed himself after that. I'm glad DH and I both went together as getting him dressed and undressed for it was much easier with two pairs of hands. DH wants to take him every week, I don't think we'll quite manage that but it will be good for him to get used to the water.

marmiteandcheeseplease · 30/05/2016 22:27

Sympathies for the cluster feeding tri, DD2 has been feeding two hourly (day and night) since yesterday. Am absolutely knackered. Just got back from weekend in Bristol and woke her up trying to get her into the cot so gave her a feed and am hoping that gets me a few hours sleep.... she's nearly 11 weeks so feels a bit early for the 12 week growth spurt, though she is apparently going through a developmental spurt at the moment according to my wonder weeks app so wondering if that has something to do with it. She seems to have suddenly got massive and we've suddenly been getting leaks in size 2 nappies so are moving onto size 3.

Haven't taken her swimming yet - DD1 hated water babies and going under water and it's pretty expensive so I don't think I'll bother this time round. I am going to try to take her to a warm pool with some of my mum friends from antenatal yoga, so hopefully that will be a bit more chilled out than water babies.

No lie in stand off in this house - DH gets up with DD1 every morning. Was 5am this morning Confused I love visiting my family but DD1 always sleeps terribly whenever we go anywhere different, glad to be at home and back in normal routine.

magpiedreams · 30/05/2016 23:17

Sympathies on the frequent feeds marmite and tri. We're the same here, it's relentless. Settled down in bed for what I hoped was a good feed before a HOPEFULLY longer stretch of sleep and then he did a poo. Grr. Would normally nudge DH to do a nappy change but he's snoring away and has been less than useless today as apparently he feels tired and poorly. Mustered enough energy to do the couple of things he wanted to get done though Hmm. So I'm stubbornly refusing to ask him to do anything now.

Hi to beaut if you're reading. Hope you're ok and half term is ok for you.

Maybebabybee · 31/05/2016 00:04

Every three hours at night it killing me. I'm sooo desperate for a longer stretch. He was doing them before, why has he suddenly stopped!!!

TriJo · 31/05/2016 00:21

He did it again today - fed every hour until 7pm, then pretty much alternated sides with a maximum of a 15 minute gap until falling asleep on the boob at around 10pm. He's generally ok at night though - I'm expecting him to wake around 2:30 for more boob, then probably 6 ish. He is fairly big for his age - around 6kg and 65cm, in size 3 nappies since 7 weeks.
