*third and last not first. I swear I do know how many children I actually have!

Hawkmoth · 08/04/2016 01:46

Saying hello after coming back to the thread. Nice to catch up, especially not feeling so alone with potty, clothes and other problems.

Sunbeam18 · 08/04/2016 20:44

Can I ask a quick question about current car seats? We have still been in the phase 2 (or whatever it's called) seat but it's definitely now too small. Have yours all moved onto the third size of seat, and does anyone have good recommendation/s? I can't bear that kind of shopping though I know it's important...

Biscuitswithtea · 08/04/2016 22:12

We're still in stage 2, and will be for ages I suspect, ds is both a short arse and only just hit 12kg. Sorry, that's not much help! Ours is a Britax Duo something or other.
Do you have access to Which reviews or similar?

We are heading towards growing out of the Dualfix (for height, nowhere near weight!) which goes up to 18kg or when they're too tall. We just cannot bloody decide on which one to have next. Tips would be good!

HungryHorace · 09/04/2016 08:26

Oh. And a bit more potty success this week. Tentatively crossing my fingers!

SunnyL · 09/04/2016 20:44

We've got the maxi cosi axiss - apparently it will do her up to age 4 or 18kg. Suits us very well particularly when I had a trapped nerve in my back as it spins so I don't have to lift her.

Poor Lil keeps having lovely days with us then it all falls apart at bedtime because she wants to stay with us because baby is with us. She won't let me put her to bed at the moment so DH is getting all the flack. Think it's pretty wearing for him.

BeanCalledPickle · 10/04/2016 20:30

We have one of the kiddy pro seats with the crash pad across their middle. It's again the sort that serves them until 3.5 to 4. There's no chance she will be out of it in time for the baby to have it. Which is annoying. So we are buying another of the same but in groups 1,2 and 3 so it expands up to twelve. No idea why I didn't do this first time round. If we weren't doing that I would just buy a standard booster. Is there really much between any of them?

SunnyL · 11/04/2016 12:38

Oh god oh god oh god. We've lost Lil's favourite dolly. It was a present from a friends mum who used to be a health visitor who gave them out as gifts to new mum's so there is no chance of replacing it. DH went for a mammoth journey yesterday all over the Scottish Borders trying to recreate our steps. We've begged the place we think it is to search their gift shop as I think the monkey has buried it in one of their exhibits.

When she realises it's gone you'll hear the wails in Londonshire I reckon.

cuphat · 11/04/2016 23:17

DD is in the Maxi Cosi Pearl (her second seat) which lasts until 18kg/ until around 4.

We're going to move DS into it when he outgrows his 0+ seat and buy the Maxi Cosi Rodifix Air Protect for DD, which lasts up to around 12 years.

Oh no, Sunny!

Biscuitswithtea · 12/04/2016 08:10

Sunny have you looked on ebay for similar dolls? A similar thing happened to a friend - ebay came up trumps. It worked a treat, they then found the original toy too!
DS has a blanket that he adores so I ended up making a spare. One is always hidden away ;)

Am knackered. Was enjoying a few weeks of feeling human. But now the exhaustion is creeping back in. 23+3 already which is great. But still another c17 wks to go!!!!

Cup, your DD is tall...how's she getting on height-wise in her seat? DD isn't quite 15kg, but is over a metre tall, so her head will definitely be above the safe level before she reaches 4 / the 18kg weight limit.

We have 3 of DD's mice that she loves. She'd still be gutted if she lost one though!

SunnyL · 12/04/2016 08:37

We've been all over eBay and no luck. The Friends mum thinks she might have another in storage somewhere so I'm praying. We've got a spare blanket but unfortunately it's about 10 shades whiter and she won't look at it. I'm still praying that they will do a stock take in the gift shop and will magically find her dolly stuffed in the back somewhere.

Biscuits have your iron levels been tested? I felt so much better (relatively) once I upped my iron intake

Biscuitswithtea · 12/04/2016 09:41

Iron levels haven't been checked since booking in appt. They'll get done next month at c29wks. With DS I was diagnosed as anaemic at that point, had a frantic call from midwife and put on iron tablets for months and months. Wouldn't be altogether surprised if the same happened this time.
Life has been hellishly busy for a few weeks so it may just be the impact of that...

cuphat · 12/04/2016 09:57

Somehow there's still lots of room in her seat! I'm not sure if it's higher than other seats or if she has longer legs (I think she has a longer body like DH though). She lasted ages in the 0+ too. She'll definitely be fine in it until DS has outgrown his in another six or so months, though the Rodifix is from age 3 so we can get that anytime really.

HungryHorace · 12/04/2016 12:48

I like the look of that one. It's good that it's from 15kg too (though DD hasn't put any weight on in over a year, just goes upwards!). I've sent the link to DH who researches such things!

The Dualfix isn't that high, I don't think. Though some 4 year olds are shorter than DD, so maybe it's a combination of tall child, slightly low seat!

cuphat · 12/04/2016 13:25

I'm normally the researcher but I struggle with car seats even though I know how important they are. We've been happy with our Maxi-Cosi seats so I haven't looked at any others. We just want something that's isofix. We're limited as we have to get what will fit behind tall DH. The 0+ seat won't fit behind him because it's rf!

BeanCalledPickle · 20/04/2016 22:15

Baby has had her first day of nursery. And her first bottle of normal milk as opposed to formula. She's one next week! I don't feel particularly sad to be leaving the era of tiny children behind me. Though my god the two of them are menaces when they are together. Sean was at home on his day off today having only returned from paternity leave on Monday. His text was 'these two are killing me. Wish I was at work'. So true!

SunnyL · 22/04/2016 07:15

Oh my she's grown up fast Bean and yy to them ganging up.

DH went back to work last night and so began my never ending carousel of feeding everyone else except me. I'll probably be as thin as Kate Moss in no time (if it wasn't for my biscuit tin) Sad

We had an ultrasound on baby's kidney on Wednesday - I was rather hoping they were going to tell us then if there is anything to worry about but they just did the scan and said they'd be in touch about the results. Still waiting on our hip referal too - did anyone here have a hip referral for their baby?

HungryHorace · 22/04/2016 21:51

DD had a hip referral, but not as a baby. I don't recall any of us having a baby hip referral.

I don't know how DH copes having our 2 all week! But DS starts preschool in September, so that'll give him a break.

BeanCalledPickle · 23/04/2016 11:17

I thought she'd been going a while??

HungryHorace · 23/04/2016 13:34

Yeah, DD started last September. DS starts this year, so he will have some child free time for a change!

BeanCalledPickle · 23/04/2016 14:56

Ah that makes sense. Will he not start working again?

HungryHorace · 23/04/2016 18:14

Yeah, odds and sods. But it'll be easier once they're both in full time school as a lot of his stuff takes longer than a couple of hours here and there.

cuphat · 23/04/2016 23:31

Oh, for child free time! We've just had the flu. And I mean proper bed-bound flu. DD got it first but she got away with a strange 24 hr version, I'm guessing the flu vaccine might have helped shorten it? But when she had a really high temp and wouldn't get up and was complaining about the light I had to drag her to see a doctor. We were surprised when she was suddenly fine the next day! Which was when DH came down with it - and he is rarely ill (and thus didn't bother with the flu vaccine he's entitled to!). DS and I came down with it just as he'd recovered enough to go to work - and as he had to go in he left me at home with two children and no support! I suppose i should be thankful he wasn't away for a change. The one time I'd have begged the inlaws for help and they are away on one of their holidays. DH set the travel cot up next to my bed for DS and luckily DD is pretty sensible. But it was still a massive struggle (that's an understatement). We're still suffering.

We find out if DD gets her nursery place on Monday. Whenever I've mentioned to anyone at the playgroup that we've applied I get an "oooh" and a look that means 'you'll be lucky'. I've said before but we live so close that if she doesn't get in we'll be very unlucky.
