Oh and my work could also be a bit grim - have been told we're retendering for my job in Oct. Boo fucking hiss

HungryHorace · 04/08/2015 06:28

I was expecting it, Mrs, so it's not a surprise. I just need to find an NQ job for October. No pressure!

HungryHorace · 04/08/2015 06:48

Oh, and I'm more than happy to leave. But obviously I need another job!

Gawds. Crap work behaviour all round Sad

Sorry yours is rubbish too Cup. Hungry - October is months away, don't you know?! Sunny - will retendering impact on mat pay?

BeanCalledPickle · 04/08/2015 08:03

Sunny can you keep your pregnancy secret until then? Not that it should be a factor but you know..

SunnyL · 04/08/2015 08:34

Technically it shouldn't matter but my client is pretty anti - children. As in she's just set up a holiday cottage business that is anti - children. It would be pretty difficult to write a tender saying 'Sunny is the expert responsible for this work and will work 100% on thiscontract' if they know full well it won't be me for 9 months of the contract. So yes the plan is to try and keep it secret till after the tender.

only issue is I'm meant to be going to deepest darkest Mozambique in Nov but I'm having 2nd thoughts after ending up in hospital the last time I did a long haul flight when I was pregnant. May have to tell my boss sooner therefore

Raeside · 04/08/2015 08:45

Bleurgh to all the work news.....if anyone wants to swap and work away in Bristol for 3 days a week come September then let me know. I'm dreading it.

In Stevenage this month. Don't come here unless you are forced to.

In upduff news, my boobs are killer sore and I get a few waves of nausea most, if not every, day, and I'm as tired as all get-out HOWEVER I get very few stretchy, tuggy, bloaty feelings where I should be getting them. Well, I think I should be getting them. I am convincing myself that it's all a non-goer. Can you remember having those feelings? Gah.

BeanCalledPickle · 04/08/2015 09:35

Rae- second time round I had none of that. It was like my body was all 'yeah we know this gig, played it before, it's all good' and just cracked on. No sore boobs, no aches and pains. Just sick and tired. Every pregnancy is different. Hell every child is different which I would do well to remember as I say 'your sister didn't do that' approx 476 times a day. Along with 'gently' and 'be careful' which I am sick of hearing myself say.

Sunny that is difficult. Will your boss be sympathetic to your position and essentially support you not mentioning it to the client until the tendering is done? Mozambique might be a bit much. Or could be entirely fine. How do you feel about it?

Raeside · 04/08/2015 09:43

Thanks Bean that is reassuring.....I say gentle to Joe approx 200 times a day at least and he hadn't even got a younger sibling to terrorise yet. The dog, however...,,

Sunny I'm inclined to agree with Bean bout trying to hold off till tender done. If you win it then client will just have to lump any changes in staff sane as they would if someone went off ill or quit....

SunnyL · 04/08/2015 10:22

Yes if i have to tell anyone at work I'll swear them to secrecy from the client. Just have to hope the tender comes out in Oct and not Dec as I'm not sure I'll be able to keep it secret that long. Something might give it away Wink

HungryHorace · 04/08/2015 16:08

Wooooo...I got the job.

Slightly disappointing money, but scope to progress within the firm. Top 50 law firm, so that's something to be pleased with! :-)

Hey thats great news HH. Really great.

In other news I think our potty training is not going well judging by the wet patch on my trousers. Sad

RueDeWakening · 04/08/2015 16:52

LOL week 3 of the summer holidays and all I can now say is:
No hitting.
No throwing.
Don't shout.
No football in the house.
Indoor voices please!
Gently.
Be careful...

Someone pass me the gin...I now understand why they called is a mother's ruin :o

HungryHorace · 04/08/2015 17:29

Our potty training really isn't good either! She got traumatised by pooing her knickers yesterday and refused to have more knickers put on! Fail.

And if I had a pound for every time I said careful I'd be super-rich!

Raeside · 04/08/2015 18:46

Congrats Hungry nice work!

I'm still avoiding loo training. Might possibly be in denial.

cuphat · 04/08/2015 21:37

Congratulations Hungry!

Toilet training hasn't started here yet. DD hasn't been showing any interest recently (since I read the book and got the stuff together for a star chart!).

And yes to saying 'gently' and 'be careful' over and over again. I'm a nervous wreck by the end of each day.

Mrs81 · 04/08/2015 22:28

Well done Hungry Smile Glad it's come together for you

HungryHorace · 05/08/2015 07:01

Cup, DD has bursts of interest, then goes totally in the opposite direction and seemingly detests the idea of toilet training. I'm sure it'll happen at some point though!

SunnyL · 05/08/2015 11:33

According to the book Lil is an ethusiast. That is she'll happily take her nappy off and sit on the potty only to wander off and pee on the floor/dog bed/mummy.

Ideally I think we'd stop it for a few weeks but she's decided she really likes taking her nappy off Angry

Mrs81 · 05/08/2015 11:45

Remind me what the book is? Was it aimed at potty training girls specifically? DS announced 'poo...toilet' this morning - and then immediately did a poo in his nappy. I'm going to try and order a toilet seat with an integrated children's seat that lifts up. I doubt DS would like one that lifts on and off unless it was VERY secure. Yikes. This could be messy!!

HungryHorace · 05/08/2015 11:54

We've got one of those seats, Mrs. £20 from eBay. :-)

DD is the same as Lily, Sunny.

OP posts:
cuphat · 05/08/2015 13:26

It's 'Potty Training Girls' but I think there's a book aimed at boys too, Mrs.

We nearly got a seat with integrated mini seat but the reviews put me off. We ended up with a £5 lift off one from Boots as they were recommended by a friend and it's great - very secure with no movement at all (on our toilet seat, anyway). There's also one on Amazon that has loads of great reviews.

HungryHorace · 07/08/2015 17:23

DD is definitely improving with her potty use. I think it's just getting used to knowing she's needs to go and getting to the potty beforehand. I'm not sure it'll be speedy though!

SunnyL · 07/08/2015 19:30

3 puddles tonight says tat Lil really isn't getting the hang of potty training Shock

HungryHorace · 07/08/2015 20:35

I've had a puddle and a bouncing poo to contend with!
