When I pop DD in our bed in the morn with us, I use my long pregnancy pillow behind her to stop her rolling anywhere. Rolled up blanket is a good idea too.

Thisisimpossible · 12/01/2015 11:49

We co-sleep too. it took me a while to feel comfortable with it because of having the fear of God put into me about doing it, but he sleeps so much better and he always snuggles in to me. It is so lovely, but I rarely admit it to anyone else. It feels like a dirty secret and there is so much scaremongering about it. My mother would be horrified!

Has anyone else got the Babycalm book? I love it.

ladydolly · 12/01/2015 12:04

We cosleep but its just us in a double. I only ever worry about the duvet I use going over her but I'm very aware she's there. We don't really snuggle up but she's close enough for me to do the night feeds without her waking up (and I barely wake up either, those dreamy feeds are my favourite thing in the world). My shoulders do freeze up from sleeping with one arm above/around her though.

Having said all that yesterday and today she will only nap on me and is really grumpy when she's awake. Possible side effect from my antibiotics maybe?

Strawberryfield12 · 12/01/2015 12:04

DH bought this and it just got delivered. I hope it's not just a novelty thing and DD keeps liking it. She was bit tired looking so I put her on it when she was half way to be asleep and she actually didn't start to moan but fall asleep properly on it!

www.amazon.co.uk/BABYMOOV-A050405-Babymoov-Cosysleep/dp/B00GDEQOU2

Otherwise, we would have to get properly asleep on arms and then put her very carefully down and pray she doesn't wake up in 5 minutes. Fingers crossed it doesn't wear off, then between the swing, the cosysleep and bouncing her to sleep on pregnancy ball, I could actually have a decent time even when on my own with her.

Strawberryfield12 · 12/01/2015 12:15

We sometimes co-sleep after the 6am morning feeds, DD positioned the same as everybody else mentioned. Seems to help her when she start to moan about the wind. This morning she was grunting like crazy in her co-sleep crib, but as soon as I took her in to sleep in my circle she went quiet and fell asleep for couple of hours. I usually try to move away a bit but she keeps moving to me, so eventually I am well in the middle of the bed and DH balancing on the other edge of it.

Talking about co-sleeping this morning she played out a number once she woke up asking for boob. I didn't manage to give it immediately so she pushed with her feet against my tights face to face with me and started to scream in my face and arms going windmill. She is only about to hit 6 weeks, so what can I expect when she is a teenager?! Hmm

moggle · 12/01/2015 13:32

We did a bit of cosleeping at the start and I did enjoy it but now she is happy sleeping by herself in the bednest I am glad - I never slept that well when she was right next to me. We still wake up almost nose to nose in the mornings and the last few days there's been a big smile for me too which is just amazing :-D people sleeping with babies on the outside of you - if you've got a pool noodle and use fitted sheets you could put that under the sheet at the edge of the bed to make a barrier? Or the pregnancy pillow or rolled up towel/blanket under the sheet might stop it falling off?

DD still kind of cluster feeds in the evening. 'Kind of' because it's not as bad as when she was newborn, but from 11pm to 6pm the next day she goes 3.5-5 hrs between feeds, from about 6 to 11pm it's every 1-2 hrs. Frustrating because I'm stuck on the sofa every evening. I wonder if I woke her during her daytime mega naps and tried to feed her every 3 hrs she might not cluster in the evening? But I love her huge sleeps in the day, I'd be crazy to disrupt those, right, and should stop bloody moaning!!

Strawberry I like the baby nest may get one as we tilt crib n he rolls to one side, unsure how long he will fit as he is 14lb so big boy.

Back to doc today and got ranitidine doc carefully works out dosage triple checking, go to pharmacy and say I need a 1ml syringe for ranitidine and 5mk one for gaviscon, counter assistant tells me gaviscon is mixed into feed I said not for breast fed babies she said yeah it goes in bottle to give I said no you give with syringe n she shouldn't be giving advice unless she was sure it was accurate and could she let pharmacists know I need the syringes.

So 20mins wait +++ baby screaming so end up feeding him in there and then pharmacist brings me meds Inc so more gaviscon gp gave and I said are syringes in there she said yes 2 x 5ml one's I said oh does it graduate down to 0. Of a ml so I can give 0.4ml and she said oh no but we don't have any 1ml syringes I said well I can't give the med then n she said well you could measure to 0.5 n not give last drop, I looked shocked n angrily said are you advising me to guestimate a drug that's been precisely calculated n she said oh no I am not advising I am aware it's on weight I am just suggesting. So I said you have made me wait 20mins with a screaming baby n I can't even give the med so she suggests I try other chemists for a syringe I said yeah like I have time to go home get car n drive round so she said she could order for tommorow n suggested not advised again the 0.5ml so I said as a parent I wouldn't guess n as a nurse I certainly wouldn't as if I overdose him it becomes a safeguarding issue n I will lose my job n registration she then said she could order me a syringe for this afternoon so I said ok get baby back in pram n she shouts after me that a colleague has said they have a box of 1ml syringes upstairs in stock room n had gone to get one - ahhhh so if I hadn't checked would have got home without syringe n also some people would trust pharmacist n do as she suggested. I was a tad annoyed!!!

Annarose2014 · 12/01/2015 16:51

ladydolly We have a really cold bedroom (16 degrees most nights) so I wear my husbands hoodie in bed both for night feeds and also so that when I pull DS into the bed in the morning I can stay warm whilst having the duvet only waist height. Oh the glamour!

Arkkorox · 12/01/2015 18:54

DD has gone to sleep for the first time since 9 this morning. I don't want to have boobs anymore. She's not been crying which is fab but she wouldn't bloody sleep!!!!

happypotamus · 12/01/2015 20:05

Well, either that was the shortest lived childhood vomiting illness or it will be back with a vengeance later. DD1 was sick 4 times between about 7 and 9am and looked terrible, but by 11 was complaining she was hungry because I hadn't let her have any breakfast and has been fine since. DD2 has been fine today too after her big sleep last night, not crying excessively anymore, so now I think more likely a reaction to jabs than dairy but will see what tomorrow brings.

catg83 · 12/01/2015 20:17

happy Smile very pleased for you
ark must be fighting that sandman.

DS has been feeding since 5. He feeds for 15 mins, dozes for 15 and then we begin again. I will have no nipples by the end of this. x

catg83 · 13/01/2015 07:30

Had an alright night after DS not wanting to sleep during the day and cluster feeding all evening. I think he has a cold but doesn't look snotty. Just very snorty first thing. Went to BIBS group yesterday. Trying to retrain him and me to feed across body rather than underarm. He has grown so much I now can't support him under arm without my "breast nest" (pile of pillows my OH renamed). Spent the night feeding cross body and my nipples aren't too bad.

moggle · 13/01/2015 09:40

Argh! Finally got DD to sleep in her bednest upstairs yesterday evening, for the first time, she had a great sleep but then didn't wake to feed until 00.15 (usually has last feed about 10.30 or 11). Then she didn't settle to quiet sleep (and let me sleep) until 2am, woke at 3.30 but settled down again, woke at 4.30 but I tried to keep her sleeping so fed her at 5am, then after that she was so noisy I didn't get to sleep until about 6.45 and DH alarm goes of at 7. Reckon I had about 2 hrs sleep total! Well I have learned my lesson and if it happens again will wake her to feed when i go to bed at 10.30 instead of waiting for her!
I've got pilates at 11.30 and all I want to do is stay in bed all day, but I always feel like shit when I do that so will get up. Only silver lining is that having just fed now, she will hopefully sleep through the class instead of needing a feed halfway through... I imagine it's not very much fun breastfeeding sitting on a yoga mat with nothing to lean against!

I am still using the earplugs but think my brain has adjusted its sound level, I can hear everything! Am locked in dummy hell too... it's the easiest way to get her to settle but then she pops it out every few minutes...

thisis I have Babycalm book and it's great! I hope to get to the end of it by the time DD is 12 months though. She is definitely the 'clingy' one and requires lots of attention :)

After all that new babynest didn't work miracles, DD didn't slept for the rest of the day since 12pm and most of the time required her walking around the house over the shoulder so that she can observe things. My shoulders were numb.

Am terrified about how much and big boggies one can pull out of a tiny baby. And it can be done on daily basis without any detriment to the size of the treasures. We use some spray of sea water to clean it, but I have started to worry if it's ok to use it so often. It says there are no side effects and slightly salty water should be ok, but still ....? Cleaned DD nose last night and this morning I can here there is something inside already.

moggle · 13/01/2015 10:49

I only collect the bogies when they are poking their heads out, I don't worry about ones 'brewing' inside so to speak. I am sure the spray isn't harmful but if she isn't snuffling too much do you really need to go getting them all out? They are an impressive size and colour though here too!!
I have come to the conclusion that the purpose of pockets on baby clothes is to put their bogies in when you are trapped on the sofa without a Muslin or tissue...

I have a pal with a 4 month old whos a doctor & she says she uses it every 3 hrs so I'm sure it fine!

We have realised we have a baby who is very nap-dependant. It all kicks off if he misses one. Its a pain, tbh. I seem to spend half the day shushing him for one nap or another. And then sitting there whilst he naps on me so the place is a tip. If I put him into the travel cot he only naps for 10 mins and will gwt cranky.

I got a new sling from the sling library - a Hoopidiz Hop Tye whatever that is - and must try it today just to get some housework done!

Greenstone · 13/01/2015 11:18

I've just booked a cleaner for the first time ever. Eek! Feels a bit strange but just going to see how it goes for a few weeks. With dd2 still not in great form after her hospital ordeal it's so hard trying to get it all done, she will not be put down and dh and I are knackered.

First night of routine last night - the evening went quite well but it was 1.5 or 2 hour wake ups after midnight so very tiring. Still we'll persevere.

Strawberryfield12 · 13/01/2015 11:30

LOL moggle about the pockets! I would not bother to get them out, but DD gets very upset bcs she struggles to breathe and even to attach to feed and then she goes completely mental. Tries to get a boob, but cannot and then she starts ti cry so badly she can BF even less.
First time we got the spray when she was 4 weeks and pulled out boggie of the size of her small finger. Shock

Thisisimpossible · 13/01/2015 11:51

Lol moggle! Love the pockets for bogies!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 13/01/2015 14:31

DD is continuing to grow well. 25th centime for weight but 75th for length. Am not sure how as I'm 5' 3" and DH is 5' 9"!

We've had to swap to the 0-3 month sleep suits from Asda now as she's too long for them (at 2 months old - jabs tomorrow). The Next, Mothercare and Sainsburys first sizes are fine though. It's just confusing.

She set a new record the other night. 7 and three quarter hours between feeds.

I keep waiting for things to go wrong as we've been incredibly lucky.

Hope everyone else is going okay.

WorkFreeWannabe · 13/01/2015 20:15

Evening All

I've been missing for a few days whilst dealing with a DS stuffed full of cold with a hacking cough. The cough has eased a lot now, just the blocked up nose to shift. Saline drops are helping along with the aspirator now and then.

Matchsticks at the double today. DH's aunt died suddenly yesterday so spent the evening round at the parents in law with all the family. Ended up staying until 1 and not getting in til gone 2. At least everyone cooing over DS helped to lighten the mood. Not a chance of a nap today as DS only catnaps for 15-30 min stints

Arkkorox · 14/01/2015 09:35

Lol moggle I got DD dressed and she's got a pocket on her baby gro, DP now thinks I'm insane as I announced ' ahh you have a snot pocket! '

Arkkorox · 14/01/2015 09:36
