WHAT??? bastards. everytime they put milk in something I have to find a recipe to male something similar at home!! Think I may have a get out of jail free card now the baby is here.

Things you don't want your doctor to say number 276... 'hmmm that really doesn't smell great'. Yes the c section site is still infected and getting worse. His advice 'lay down and give it plenty of air' a hahahahahaha because my 6 week old baby gives me so much time to lay around. More antibiotics and the warning that I must take it seriously because it could get really nasty. The doctor saying you smell is pretty nasty!

I feel beaten today :(

Thisisimpossible · 06/01/2015 20:34

Have a hug Ladydolly. What a rough day Sad

We had our 6 week check today. DS is 10lb 11oz and doing well which is a relief after all the latch issues. He managed to pee all over the HV's measuring chart when she measured his length. He has quite a sense of timing that lad. No normal warning signs either - a complete ambush!

ladydolly · 06/01/2015 21:37

thanks thisis feel very sorry for myself.

Old bedtime routine : cleanse, tone, moisturise, serum, fake tan. New bedtime routine: cream on infected wound, cream on post natal excema, cream on piles.

On the plus side dd is 12.03 at 6 weeks and apparently very tall. I'm only 5'5 so dp who is 5'10 is glad she's the spitting image of him or there woild be questions! Back in 2 weeks because she wriggled too much to hear her heartbeat properly.

Taking advantage of baby laying in bed with me awake to 'air' my wound. Oh the glamour.

WorkFreeWannabe · 07/01/2015 07:29

This thread has moved so much in the few days I've been missing. Not going to attempt to fully catch up.

Oh Lady, how incredibly charming of your Doctor.

Speaking of Doctors, I'm really annoyed at the receptionist I saw back in December who booked today's 8 week check and jabs. Turns out he'll only be 7 weeks 4 days, despite her calculating the appointment date from his date of birth. Luckily the HV mentioned he had to be over 8 weeks otherwise I would have turned up for nothing.

On a happier note, DS happily slept from his last feed at 11 til 7 this morning - yay me! Please let this be a sign of things to come and not a one off. It was much appreciated after going to bed at 1. Apparently DH had a 'headache' Sad so left me on my own to pack away the Christmas tree and decorations. Even though they were down, I couldn't leave the packing leave totoday.

MusicAndBooks · 07/01/2015 07:41

Sending a hug for you ladydolly

I sympathise with the bedtime 'glamour' routine and things you don't want to hear the doctor say... At my 6week check he had a good look up me and informed me there was a lot of scarring, surprised they only said 2nd degree tear and said my opening is more "lax" than he'd expect and told me instead of 10 pelvic floor lifts I should be doing at least 70 religiously daily or I'll pay for it in the next decade and said I shouldn't put any weight on or it will make it worse. I've returned to my pre-birth weight and didn't need someone scalding me like a teenager, cue lots of crying and despairing and feeling pretty rotten about the whole thing. I think some doctors should go on a course to learn how to be tactful!

Nessalina · 07/01/2015 09:43

Good grief music! Confused No one wants to hear that. My GP didn't even look at my stitches, but I'm pretty sure I need to do a LOT more pelvic floors doing some rather than none would be a start! Blush

ladydolly · 07/01/2015 10:46

You earned your good nights sleep workfree

music what a git! At the 6 week check you should get a bloody pat of the back for making it through in one piece not a load of nagging and scolding.

New problem, lochia stopped totally about 2 weeks ago. Last night I've had blood when I wipe, bright red but not loads. Anyone else had that? Can't be a period starting I'm still full on feeding. Terrified it might be to so with my cs infection but it doesn't smell (tmi!!!) so guessing its not that.

Thehedgehogsong · 07/01/2015 11:30

Ladydolly my blood loss starts and stops a lot, I think it's just from some days being more sedentary than others. Last time my periods didn't return until 9 months but that was because I was on a course and away from DD1 in the day for about 8 hours straight for a week.

WorkFreeWannabe · 07/01/2015 11:36

Wow! Music
That's totally freaked me out as I have my checkup today. I've been doing pelvic floor exercises when I remember, but none of the ones the hospital gave me. Even though my stitches are gone, something still doesn't feel quite right down there, but I guess I'll find out today. DH has been counting down the days to this appointment as I told him DTD was off limits til then. why didn't I keep my bloody mouth shut as its come round far too soon

Lady, I had something similar, but not as long as a 2 week gap. Mine appeared when I had a day of doing too much.

happypotamus · 07/01/2015 12:47

We had our 6 week check yesterday too despite DD being 10 weeks old. The Dr didn't even ask about pelvic floor. His attempt at PND screening was to say "so, are you feeling depressed?" In a rather abrupt manner. I have had depression before and would definitely not have responded to that question asked in that manner if I did have PND. DD weighs 10lb 7, which I am happy with after all the issues with weight and feeding in the first few weeks, though he said she is a small baby. Had first immunisations too, then booked 3 yr old in for pre-school MMR which is going to be even more traumatic.

eastmids CMPI for us was a miserable, squirming, spotty, unsettled baby with green, watery or mucusy poo that we didn't think was anything out of the ordinary until she had bright red blood in her poo. We still don't know if CMPI is definitely what she had, as it was obviously a diagnosis of exclusion (they ruled out other more serious issues so decided it must be CMPI), and I was advised to cut out dairy for only 4 weeks so reintroduced some a week ago and don't know if her current tolerance will last. I'll be honest, it was a hard 4 weeks. We ate a lot of the same meals, cheese and chocolate were especially missed, and the long view bought up even more issues (no ice-cream in the summer, what to eat at work when I go back as my job involves living off microwave meals, and especially how to wean her). I am crossing my fingers now and hoping 4 weeks was long enough even though it sounds unlikely to me that she would have recovered after so little time. Would you consider trying 4 weeks dairy-free to see if it makes a difference to him? 4 weeks sounds a lot more manageable than forever.

moggle · 07/01/2015 13:45

Funny you should say that ladydolly as I've had some more bright red blood on wiping since last night, and my lochia stopped a few days before Christmas so at about 6 weeks. Don't really know if it's a problem or not, going to stick my head in the sand and hope it goes away. It doesn't smell (tmi sorry) and I've not got a temperature so I'm not too worried about an infection.

Got DD's jabs tomorrow, oh dear...

ladydolly · 07/01/2015 13:57

moggle that is odd!
Mine is heavy now, like a period and given my infection I'm going to call the maternity ward for advice. Well I will if babydolly ever goes down for a nap!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 07/01/2015 14:06

Thanks have started dairy free today did a Sainsbury shop n found quite a few bits was shocked gravy had milk in but found a chicken one that doesn't.

Actually lots stuff didn't have milk in n value biscuits seem to be good

Have had black tea, porridge with water for breakfast, crumpets n vitalite as a snack, waffles with tinned beans n sausages for lunch just about to have couple chunks dark choc as no milk in it

weeonion · 07/01/2015 14:56

Hi folks - just had 6 wk check with consultant ( even though dd2 is 9 weeks). I am still bleeding quite heavily with occasional clots. I have had a uterine infection and whilst my external scar is ok, my tummy is still tender and sore. Consultant had a good ole feel around and I have been referred for a scan to check if there is anything left in there (!!!!) and to check section scar. She also took swabs though she did say I had a "lovely cervix'. (why did I feel pleased by that!!!). I also registered to become a breast milk donor for neo - natal unit. I have (over)abundant supply and as dd2 is def my last - I really want to do something positive!

happypotamus · 07/01/2015 16:18

eastmids my Sainsburys has quite a good selection of dairy-free chocolate and cakes. Not as nice as the real stuff but not too bad. I read lots saying that often the cheaper products e.g value or basics range are more likely to be dairy-free. Also, for nice cake/chocolate fix, jus-roll croissants and even pain au chocolat are dairy-free. You do have to roll them out and bake them yourself but they are worth it.

catg83 · 07/01/2015 17:12

Weeonion that is such a wonderful thing to do. Good for you.

We have our first go with a breast pump today. DS is 5+5 today so we are going to refrigerate the milk and keep it till

catg83 · 07/01/2015 17:17

...cut me off!

So refrigerating EBM till beginning of next week when OH has a day off to try a bottle. I expressed for about 15 mins and got 2 1/2 oz. Anybody know if I can add more milk to this bottle tomorrow or if I need to keep each session separate?

This little one seems to be loving his day time naps today. We will see what that means for tonight!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 07/01/2015 17:20

Happy I love those just roll pain authority choc will have to get some

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 07/01/2015 17:22

Cat I mix anything expressed in a 24hr period n can be kept for 6 days in fridge easy thing to remember is 6,6,6 - 6hrs out fridge from expressing, 6 days in fridge, 6mths in freezer

moggle · 07/01/2015 18:11

catg - you might want to keep the amounts seperate for the first time, just in case he doesn't take much the first time, so you don't waste a whole bottle. Obv that assumes you have more than one bottle to pump into! That's a really good amount for the first time btw!

I really need to remember my pelvic floor exercises. I'm convinced I can't hold in pee as long as I used to. But its hard to tell as (TMI) I have a ton of yellowy watery discharge. So I don't know if I'm letting a few drops of wee go or not.

Are pelvic cones any cop?

moggle · 07/01/2015 20:15

I'm going crazy with the pelvic floor squeezes at the mo as I can't hold in a fart any more! Now I'm wanting to go out in public more it's becoming embarrassing... Didn't have any damage in that area so think it must be just that she was back to back and her head was pushing on my bum for so long. Delightful!

catg83 · 07/01/2015 20:20

eastmids Thanks. The 666 will be really useful.
moggle I only have one bottle for the pump so I am going to buy a cheap bottle tomorrow to sterilise and put one lot in there. Thanks for the advice on him not taking a lot. you are right. Don't want to waste any of it.

Thisisimpossible · 07/01/2015 21:37

cat Lansinoh also makes pre-sterilised breast milk bags for the freezer. I bought some at the weekend as the individual bottles are taking up a lot of room. They weren't desperately cheap at £5 for 24 bags but I felt worth the money as you also save time on having to sterilise them. I got them in Tesco.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 07/01/2015 22:44

We have a nuby pump with 2 bottles plus couple tommee tippee bottles so use one of them for storage. I express to mix with gaviscon. I just ordered some lansinoh bags on ebay couple days ok used them last time for freezer storage as expressed til 14mths for using on breakfast n made white sauce for ds with it as didn't give cows milk til a yr due to hx family intolerance.
