DS has black leggings to go with his guns 'n' roses t-shirt - looks like skinny jeans without being too restrictive. H&M. I get a size up to accommodate cloth nappies but they seem smallish anyway so I'd get a size up anyway probably.

Greenstone · 30/01/2015 10:46

Good luck lady!

cat glad the mastitis is under control. It's awful isn't it! Neurofen will help even more.

anna regarding the early wakeup, when dd wakes at this time I bring her in beside me. Normally I try not to cosleep but am always desperate for that one more hour and bringing her in is the easiest way. She loves it too.

omama · 30/01/2015 12:32

just catching up after a few days away - sorry to hear your ds has been poorly thisis but glad he is improving & hopefully allowed home. DD had bronchiolitis at 3 weeks old & it was awful so I really feel for you both.

Moggle - dd has suddenly started to refuse her dummy - wonder if thats down to same thing. Don't mind too much really but it can be hard work to settle her without!

Anna we often feed at 6.30am. Unfortunately ds gets up then & wakes dd good & proper so we usually get up & start our day! Yawn!

We are also getting dressed in proper clothes - mostly leggings, long sleeve top & cardi or knitted dress with tights - though that make her very slippery! Greenstone we have quite a few pairs from Next & Sainsbury's. Both lovely quality, wash well & decent price

Anna was it you who told me about the slings fb group? Its a bit addictive - so many lovely things! I've acquired a caboo & also an ergo for when dd is a bit bigger - oops! Now just to tell dh.....

Strawberryfield12 · 30/01/2015 13:00

I bought lots of clothes for future on mothercare sales, got about 20 items for £50. Hope DD will forgive me dressing her in previous season fashion Grin. Another place I like is Redoute. They very often send me discount codes £50 off when you spend £100. Not bad at all and I have bought some very nice proper clothes for spring. Lots of non pink and frilly girls clothing on offer.

Scary journey to school today main roads not gritted and at one point really thought we were going into back of lorry that or into incoming traffic luckily I was so far behind the lorry I had time to think n was going so slow we were millimetres away when it pulled off n then a number of slippy moments some def shit your pants moments for me n over an hr there n back normally 30mins with drop off school is 2miles each way but if snows again I am so walking 4yr old can go ok n buggy board it was far to scary with baby and 4yr old in car.

Thisisimpossible · 30/01/2015 14:06

WOOHOO! We're home! Thanks for all your lovely messages Smile they've kept me going and keeping up with you all has kept me sane Wink

Anna After our early morning feed which can be any time between 6 & 7 we usually get up. If I don't I miss out on DP having DS whilst I have a bath and get some make up on (only if I'm going out - days at home mean no make up) before he leaves for work otherwise I never seem to find the time to do it.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 30/01/2015 14:50

This is glad you are home and baby got treatment needed :)

Strawberryfield12 · 30/01/2015 15:25

The amount of washing definitely is something I hadnt considered before DD was born. I thought there would be more washing as there would one more person at home. But with DD spiting up on us, herself and our bedding means washing machine almost never stops, thank god for tumbledryer...

Annarose2014 · 30/01/2015 15:34

No omama that wasn't me - I'm the one whose child hates slings! But I'm going to borrow a SSC and see if a miracle occurs.

Disaster here! Tried out my very expensive Fisher Price mobile & DS started to cry after 2 mins! Nooooooo! Please god he's just too young for it or I'll never live this down with DH. There was a cheap one on the shelf next to it but I insisted on this one. SHIT!

happypotamus · 30/01/2015 16:10

thisis glad you are home and ok.

I am feeding baby then ringing hospital to see if DH is out of theatre and ok. I didn't realise until he text me the phone numbers last night that he would be in ITU. That makes it seem much scarier than a standard operation.
We are at my parents for the weekend so I have adult company and maybe help with the girls. DD1 didn't go to sleep until after 9 last night and DD2 slep less well than usual and both were awake earlier than usual. The cat wouldn't move off our bed last night either, though DH makes them be downstairs at night, so I was paranoid it would stand on DD or lie on her. Tired now

Thisisimpossible · 30/01/2015 16:48

Anna which one do you have? The one DS had on his cot in hospital was a Fisher Price one with fish and wave sounds or a choice of Bach, Mozart etc Smile He loved it! I think we may have to get him one!

happy best wishes that your DH is out of theatre and on the mend xx

strawberry ditto the washing explosion. I don't know where it all comes from. There are only 3 of us!

Annarose2014 · 30/01/2015 17:02

Its the Rainforest Peek a Boo Leaves one with Bach & Mozart so prob very similar.

Crisis averted though, DH just came home & twigged it was the circular motion of the mobile that upset him. I guess he can't keep up with it with his eyes yet? If we leave the motor off he'll stare up at it & listen to the music. Phew!! Grin (Actually he got a bit overstimulated - feast or famine, lol)

Thinking of you happy

juulie · 30/01/2015 17:05

Hi Amy - I'm first timer too. Joined the thread as soon as I found it so I wouldn't forget or lose it again! Going OK ta. lo did have colic but touch wood pretty content lately. Frequent feeding and bitty sleep but so chuffed to finally have our beautiful little girl after yrs of trying that I don't really care!
Hi Thisis. Glad to hear your ds feeling better. Must be chuffed to be back home.
Hello Annarose: I've got an electric pump cause i heard manual ones were too much like hard work. Yet to try it. Have been a bit reluctant for some reason. I've been keeping a log too, trying to find a pattern. May have identified some nap times to build on. Good for me to have a bit of structure too. It has been a bit random seeming so far.
Hiya Cat. No worries. There's always something to worry about isn't there? I was worried about messing up the breastfeeding and baby just wanting bottle so can't win! Glad your mastitis is getting better. I haven't experienced that one. Won't ask what you do with the cabbage!

juulie · 30/01/2015 17:19

Can anyone tell me how to highlight (bold)?
I still love Fridays, probably because DH around.
Just ordered a Baby Bjorn carrier. Still waiting for it to be delivered - supposed to be OK for newborns but sits baby upright and supports head somehow apparently. Have a cloth sling I've used a couple of times but seems to scrunch baby up and not sure it's very comfy. dd is apparently quite long. People keep saying that anyway. Maybe that's why it scrunches her upMy back soon gets tired too.
Eastmids - Yikes. Be careful out there!

catg83 · 30/01/2015 17:41

juulie put a star at each end of what you want to bold
east how was pick up?

DS slept through baby massage today. He fell asleep about and hour before we were due to go and I was convinced he would be up by the time to go. Nope. Slept for 2 hours which is very rare. So no massage but I did get a cup of tea with my feet up and a nap. Grin

Thisisimpossible · 30/01/2015 18:04

cat I hope the mastitis is getting easier and better. I had to resort to using cabbage leaves a couple of weeks ago and my god, they were amazing! Such instant relief! I didn't believe it until I was forced to try it.

ladydolly · 30/01/2015 20:42

omama it was me with the fb sling group reccomendation! I've gone caboo and ergo as well. But love seeing the amazing wraps everyone has!

Was someone mourning their old baby bjorn? I have a 2nd hand one I got for a tenner I'd be happy to sell on?

dd fell asleep halfway through baby sensory again, I just can't time it right!

Went in for appraisal, was fine but will have to do an overseas trip in may... eek! dd would not take a bottle while I was gone but mum managed to rock her back to sleep so not too bad. Need to persevere on the bottle though!!

thisis welcome home!!

happy thinking positive for you.

happypotamus · 30/01/2015 20:46

so DH is as ok as can be expected according to the person I eventually got to speak to.

God knows how I will get any sleep tonight. My mum had arranged for DD1 to sleep on top bunk above my sister, where she has slept happily before, but she messed about standing up and jumping so I threatened that she wouldn't be sleeping there if she didn't behave. Lesson for the future for those of you who have just had DC1: don't threaten things you can't follow through on. The only other place to put her was in the double bed that DD2 and I are supposed to sleep in. There isn't really enough room left to safely co-sleep, so I can only see the solution of getting the single duvet from the bed she isn't sleeping in and sleeping on the floor with DD2. Surprisingly, my mum accepted that she wouldn't sleep on her own and didn't get a Moses basket or cot out. On the upside, I have had dinner cooked for me, been able to eat while DD2 played on her own, and had a glass of wine

ladydolly · 30/01/2015 20:54

Forgot to mention the gap sale, final reductions in there now, mum got dd a babygro for £1.80 and me some trousers for less than a fiver (should have been £35). I'm going in tomorrow for more!

Strawberryfield12 · 30/01/2015 21:06

anna DD has the same mobile and she loves it, but it means we cannot put her in her crib during the day, she keeps staring at it and would not sleep. I always put it on in the mornings, gives me time to get showered and dressed. Eventually she gets worked up with it, when it stops , she shouts to put it on again, but once it's on she gets overwhelmed but doesn't let to switch it off. Whatever I do she is not happy after some time.

Her interest in mobiles has sent to the bin our swinging cradle. weeks ago we could put her in there and she would sleep for hours swinging. Now we put her there, she wakes up and stares at the mobile over her head even if it's switched off, smiles and bubbles at it. Not bad, but no long sleeps anymore.

happypotamus · 30/01/2015 23:02

Many thanks to my dad, who used his many years of experience to move sleeping 3 yr old out of my bed. She woke up just enough to murmur "but I'm not tired" before falling back to sleep. I miss DH though. It seems wrong that he has had to go through major surgery and I couldn't be there. There was no realistic way I could have stayed in London for an unknown length of time with the girls though, especially as children aren't allowed to visit the hospital, getting round London with a baby and a child and luggage and the cost of a hotel.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 31/01/2015 02:23

Cat - the snow had melted and husband has just started driving again after knee surgery so he collected from school but think we will walk next week if we get the forecasted snow I can't do that again was v scary.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 31/01/2015 02:26

Happy hope your husband has a speedy recovery

ladydolly · 31/01/2015 08:30

I cut dd's finger trying to clip her nails. Good god the guilt!!
