There are different packages but we got the 3 mth entertainment package which costs £20. You get one box and the entertainment package for 3 mths.
After that you don't have to pay anymore if you don't want to but you can still access Iplayer etc.
You also get a 30 day free trial of sky movies when you open your account.
If you want to continue with the entertainment package it costs £7 per mth but can be stopped at any time.
You can run your account on multiple devises as well. So I have the app on my iPad and iPhone so I can watch stuff anywhere.

Sorry that was a long splurge that had nothing to do with babies! Hope it was helpful though Smile

misog2000 · 11/01/2015 22:47

I have Netflix which is £5.99 per month and I also sign up to a site called unblock us which makes your IP address look like it's in America so you can watch their Netflix which has loads more on it! Greys Anatomy, Scandal, Bones, Supernatural and loads more that aren't on the UK one. I love a box set, just don't have room for loads of DVD's.

I'm feeling slightly better now, I think the cold I had was what was really pulling me down instead of the thyroid issue. I'm still not back to normal by any stretch but I'm able to function a bit better. The only bonus of it is that I have no appetite, a normal day for me is a bowl of dry frosties eaten over the breakfast and lunch period and some plain pasta for dinner, any more and I'm sick, so I am back to my pre pregnancy weight. Not the best way to do it but there has to be a bonus to feeling this bad! Fingers crossed when I go back at the end of Jan they can give me something to treat the cause, not just my joint pain!

Nazly · 12/01/2015 00:03

Thanks banana, very helpful. Sorry all for dragging this, misog how do you watch Netflix? (Which device)

The thing is it is a long time I wanted to get us something so we can watch movies; we were with lovefilm but when amazon bought it we stopped; there are too many other options and I can not work out which is best and dh can not help as too busy right nowHmm I would have loved a device which apart from working with specific operators, allows us to explore internet and watch clips too... But as I didn't find that option I guess I'll just get sth now

Misog I didn't know you are unwell; I must have missed some posts...?

Honeybear30 · 12/01/2015 02:26

We have netflix and now tv and watch both through PS3. Pretty sure this isn't the most cost effective device! We also have a Google chromecast for our bedroom which will show iplayer, netflix, now tv, YouTube and a couple others. That was £30 and is brilliant. I believe you need a smart phone or tablet to operate it though.

Acorncat · 12/01/2015 02:27

I've just watched Breaking Bad and Dexter, just starting Always a Sunny in Philadelphia. I want to watch West Wing but worried it'll be too intelligent in my baby brain haze! One day I'll watch Lost again. I use Netflix, haven't bothered with the US version yet. We got the Amazon Fire box as have prime too so that works well for us. DS naps really well only sleeps on me so plenty time for TV watching. It's always on in the background too.

CumbrianExile · 12/01/2015 06:12

Nazly we watch both love film and netflix through my dh kindle fire. It has a hdmi port so can connect to the tv too. And you can also get internet on that.

bananapickle84 · 12/01/2015 07:40

My DH looked into all the different options and the two hands down winners (according to all the reviews etc) were either Now TV or Amazon Prime. That was based on content. You would go for Amazon if you do loads of shopping on there as Prime includes free shipping. Now TV has more content.

Misog glad you're better.
There are ao many horrible viruses about at the mo. Me and DS aren't fully over it all but hoping to start exercising and eating healthier from today so hoping that may help recovery.

Bizarrely I got a letter lady week from the HV saying that they want to see DS as they haven't seen him for a while but I got him weighed two days before Christmas. Do you reckon they've just haven't noted down that they've seen him?!

TeamEponine · 12/01/2015 07:56

Barely slept last night due to DDs cold. Feel wrecked. She's so bunged up she could barely breathe, so I had to keep her virtually sitting up all night and she could only feed a few mouthfuls at a time before gagging on her snot, so I seem to have been feeding all night. Her nose is dripping like a tap!

How long do their colds usually last for? She has a hospital appointment for her follow up hip scan today and her last lot of injections tomorrow. Not sure what to do about those now.

lilone1234 · 12/01/2015 08:29

Misog - I hope you manage to get something to treat the cause too. Are you taking a multivitamin? I would recommend you do if not as only being able to eat some frosties and pasta will end up making you feel run down and lethargic in its own right.

Team - sorry to hear your DD is poorly. Is horrible when they have a cold. They can cling on a while too, like ours. Our nurse still did DD's jabs when she had a cold, she said they could be done as long as she didn't have a temperature. This is also what the NHS website says, but I think some nurses choose not to do it if baby under the weather at all.

KitKat1985 · 12/01/2015 08:46

Misog sorry to hear you've been ill. I'd second lilone's suggestion of a multi-vitamin / iron supplement or you are going to get really work down.

Team sorry to hear your DD is ill. Hope she gets better soon.

I bought DH an Amazon Fire for Christmas. It looks good from watching DH use it, but I haven't really played with it myself yet.

cookielove · 12/01/2015 08:47

Elijah still had his injections when he had a cold but I know others haven't.

I am thinking about getting a head start on sorting out purees for weaning and bunging a load in the freezer.

Also Elijah has another cold it is one after another at the moment. Look forward to better weather which may or may not help.

KitKat1985 · 12/01/2015 08:47

^ worn down not work down!

Honeybear30 · 12/01/2015 08:48

DS has a cold to :( second time for us. The last one only lasted a couple of days but he does seem worse this time. Also due injections on Thursday which I will postpone if he's still poorly. My surgery won't do them, plus he's miserable enough as it is without having jabs to.

RedToothBrush · 12/01/2015 08:58

We have Now TV here. But I confess to not getting past the free channels.

DS does not have a cold. However he kept us both up most of the night for some reason. He seems to have been constantly hungry this weekend (yet was refusing to feed a lot of the time) and has visibly grown. We think he has grown at least a cm over the last two days.

DH after not helping matter last night with his pane rattling snoring, managed to put the nappy on too loose so my first task this morning has to be to deal with a pooplostion.

I think its safe to say, I'm not in the best of moods this morning.

I love amazon prime. have just started watching scandal. ds teething so feeling v sorry for himself and is currently snoozing on me.

Honeybear30 · 12/01/2015 10:06

Oh red I feel your pain. The snoring drives me nuts. And I also had to do a little tutorial on nappies for dh the other day!

CumbrianExile · 12/01/2015 10:42

Red and Honey - another who feels your pain. 3 hours I laid in bed last night listening to DH snoring. Managed to get to sleep about 2am, and A, for the first time in about 3 weeks decided that 5am was the time he was getting up! He had missed his last feed of the evening as he fell into a deep sleep, so I did expect it, and luckily, once he finished his bottle I took him back up and we both got another couple of hours sleep. But at one point last night I was ready for holding a pillow over DH's head!

lilone1234 · 12/01/2015 11:43

I can't stand snoring either. I prod DP til he stops. If I can't sleep then he's not either! Mwahaha!

Apparently I snored when pregnant though. I was telling Molly this morning when putting her socks on how when pregnant with her my feet were too swollen for socks and shoes. Feels like an age ago now!

Honeybear30 · 12/01/2015 12:24

Poorly DS is asleep on me and I need to weeeeeeee!

Nazly I've got an overactive thyroid which is supposed to make you feel full of energy but just my luck I've got the less normal symptoms of fatigue, joint pain and dizziness Sad it is quite common post pregnancy (1 in 50 women). It normally goes to under active after a while which is much easier to treat so hopefully that happens soon.

I watch netflix via the PS3, it's the only thing we use it for now DH has grown out of games lol.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone, I am taking a multivitamin and spatone for iron.

Has anyone decided on whether they are going to go for BLW or purée based? What are people's experiences? The above blog post and comments may be of interest as I'm sure this will be very much a hot topic between us in the next short few months!

At the moment I'm thinking I will start with good old fashioned purees. I think it is too much of a jump to go from milk to solids and am terrified of choking!

misog2000 · 12/01/2015 15:05

I'm gonna do purée too lilone, I'll probably give her something like cucumber to hold to make it easier to get the spoon in but will mainly go with puréed whatever we are having as long as it's not to salty.

holls2000 · 12/01/2015 15:55

I'm going to do puree too

Honeybear30 · 12/01/2015 15:56

I haven't looked into it enough yet but think I will go with BLW. DH hates purée, like really really hates it. And it does sound like a faff to me. I'm very happy bf at the moment and am happy to continue whilst DS gets the hang of solids so he'll still get all his nutrients from me. I don't mind if it takes a while which I understand it does take longer with BLW. I'm quite looking forward to giving him real food actually! But am worried about the salt content of our food so may have to actually get cooking some 'proper' food for him. We'll all be eating separately as well since he goes to bed between half six and seven and DH doesnt get home until at least 7 usually so he won't be able to just have some of what we're having anyway.

Anyone looked at high chairs yet? We have a real space issue so I'm looking for one that clamps on to a table as its minimal storage space. They all have such mixed reviews, I hate picking baby products when you don't really know what you're doing!
