Welcome back!

(Dear greetings cards manufacturers: 'Baby's First Christmas' does NOT necessarily have to include Baby being liberally sprinkled with glitter from your shoddily-made merchandise.

Except that, as I'm rapidly discovering, it does.

moose I think we all know what your DH needs, and it definitely isn't 30 minutes to himself!

Could baby moose sit in bathroom while you shower? I sometimes take DS in with me in his bouncy chair ... he seems quite entertained by mummy's reverse striptease when I get out Grin

Unfortunately he really hates his bouncy chair...or anything that means he isnt attached to me

Kirstipops · 22/12/2014 23:36

Thanks for thinking of me folks :) Luckily I wasn't in town today, my friend and her 5 year old son unfortunately witnessed it though from across the road while they were waiting for a green man, so glad they are OK. Fortunately her little boy only seemed to see all the rubbish flying out the back of the lorry Sad. It's all too soon after the helicopter crash last year, I work for the police in road collisions department and remember the terrible atmosphere after then and apparently it was exactly like that today, so glad I'm removed from all of it, just tragic, especially if kids are involved.

What is it about when MiL's are bad, they're truly awful? Mine is an eccentric but thankfully not an offensive one. Mrsb what a difficult situation you're in with your DH and his business, you must feel really stuck sometimes.
Splendide I'm so glad your HV has been, and also relieved that she is fully aware of how crap you've been feeling, you're on the road to recovery now, I hope you know that :)

mrsb87 · 23/12/2014 00:21

I take Dylan in with me too, he likes the sound of the running water.
Just realising what a drama queen dh is, couldn't find his pj bottoms > we're all going to die.

Happytimes31 · 23/12/2014 02:58

Mine also watches baths Smile my poor boobs are so confused. After sleeping through a couple of nights he is now wide awake and starving despite having a massive last feed!

ExcitedCJ · 23/12/2014 03:54

Why can I hear the milk hitting my DS stomach? It has been happening for about a week now. It's like he has never been fed & it's an empty pit in there.
I remember reading with DD it was a sign of reflux/CMPI/TT or something but can't remember what. Anyone know? Yellow?

ExcitedCJ · 23/12/2014 04:52

Yellow I think I may need a private consultation with you in your capacity of reflux/CMPI expert. I have had a sneaky suspicion for a week or two now that DS may have issues with cows milk. I EBF & he is on Losec, however the initial improvement seen on Losec has not been maintained. He has gone back to not sleeping & there are a few other things that I am starting to Q. He has constant congestion/wheezing, hollow belly sound upon feeding, rashy/dry patches on forehead & pretty constant runny poo with mucous.
What are your thoughts? Hope you don't mind.
I think the high dose of Losec might be masking some of the other issue.

wondermoose13 · 23/12/2014 05:24

excited babymoose is exactly the same, except we cant get losec into him so stikk just using ranitidine. We get the hollow sounds pretty much every feed, not sure if its air being gulped in due to his poor latch and high palate.
He sounds really congested atm and im sure its because i was told to trial dairy. I didnt think the dry skin on his forhead was part of it until now. He has had very wet green mucous poo since 5 weeks old. Im not sure how much of the issue is dairy and how much is his feeding issues but its very confusing!

YellowWellies · 23/12/2014 06:10

CJ I think the hollow sound on feeding (which both of mine have done on and off dairy) is more of a latch, lip tie, high palate issue - the hollow sound being gulped air / trapped wind. But then lip ties and high palate are midline defects which often present with CMPI. If losec alone isn't resolving reflux symptoms, and you're sure baby is getting enough hindmilk then I'd be minded to think food intolerance and dairy / soy. The congestion and rash suggests its not Ig-e mediated CMPI (unless the rash is hives?) so it wouldn't show on blood tests. The only way to be sure is 6 weeks total exclusion (even of dairy and soy traces), maybe try after you've given yourself Christmas day? Moose I'm wondering the same and if little moose is comfort feeding? I'd say go to your GP but loads are shit on CMPI, so maybe do a total dairy and soy exclusion (taking appropriate dairy and soy free vit D and calcium supplement) and if you are seeing an improvement go to the doc and request a paed / dietician referral. It might be able to be managed on diet alone ie without losec xx

Pregnantagain7 · 23/12/2014 08:35

Hi glad everyone up in Scotland/Glasgow is ok what an awful awful tragedy.

As I've said before I've no experience of cmpi or other similar but with both my dds I used to be able to hear milk hitting their bellies when feeding and they both didn't have any milk issues.

On the subject of 'd'hs mine went out on Sunday to and all day boxing show (piss up) rocking in at 12 just after I'd finished feeding r to tell me he'd lost his jacket with his phone and wallet in it. No other words except fucking idiot! His wallet with all the credit cards/debit cards gone but worst of all his phone with all the pictures of r just after he was born gone because he didn't bloody back them up.

I was supposed to go shopping with my mum yesterday for a couple of hours to chose some Xmas presents for me but couldn't go cos dp was sorting all his stuff out.

I spent four hours wrapping all the kids presents last night at 11 I said you need to feed r he said I've not stopped all day! I'd cleaned the house, done a food shop and done all the wrapping cheeky fucker. Needless to say he did the feed.

wondermoose13 · 23/12/2014 09:33

yellow im sure he comfort feeds, but he feeds so badly in the day i tend to think he needs it, its so frustrating tho when he falls asleep on me but wont be transferred anywhere.... and i can imagine the grief im going to get about it from mil over xmas :s
I just wish i could get him feeding more efficiently so he'd at least get a few big feeds in the day

Greenstone · 23/12/2014 10:57

Hi everyone. Been lurking for ages so thought I would finally drop in and say hi Smile

Dd2 was born a week early on 31 October (any other Halloween babies?). So coming up to 8 weeks and so far is super high maintenance like her older sis. She was awake from 9.30 to 3.30 last night Shock so reading ahead to hear about longer stretches of sleep from some October babies is encouraging...

splendide Hope you are doing ok today. It's so very hard, I know.

fedupofrainydays · 23/12/2014 11:03

R slept through last night with just a little whinge (but no feed) at 2 am. 8Pm til 7am. Not expecting it to last. But we seem to have jumped from waking every three hours for food to this...

hope everyone is doing ok. How was HV splendide?
I've still got so much to sort for Christmas but currently have a baby attached to boob.. Again

ohthegoats · 23/12/2014 11:29

Boyfriend helped with dressing small this morning.. he then asked if I'd be alright with her on my own for 20 minutes while he goes to the post office. Erm, yes dear I expect I'll manage. Ha.

mrsb87 · 23/12/2014 11:43

goats lol cheeky monkey! Sounds like he's being considerate though so that's good.
we too had a good stretch last night, 11-7! I'm not sure what to expect when we go down to my mum's tonight. Last time he cried near enough the whole time but that was before we knew his discomfort was cmpi. Fingers crossed he settles as well as he does at home now!

wondermoose13 · 23/12/2014 12:14

Been to have babymoose weighed and hes dropping weight again so they sent us to GP who helpfully told me you cant get cmpi if you ebf ×bangs head against wall×
No idea how i get him to put weight on tho :( hes so long and skinny

splendide · 23/12/2014 12:57

Well I've given in and given some formula. DH gave him 2 oz and he then went to sleep on him. First time he's ever fallen asleep for DH. I've had an hour to myself which feels good.

ohthegoats · 23/12/2014 13:03

That's good news splendide. MrsB - I'm also worrying about sleep over the next few days - she sleeps in other places, but not very well and not very early. I predict me being knackered by the weekend.

wondermoose - do you have to go and get him weighed? My HV said that since my baby is clearly long and thin but also healthy looking (and has decent nappy stuff going on), that I should avoid weighing her for a month or so because she suspects it'll worry me.

fatpony · 23/12/2014 13:32

God, am now in a house with 18 people, everyone is very sweet with M but the sheer overstimulation led to a screaming meltdown this morning. It's so hard to manage because he wasn't even being passed around too much, seems to be more the no of people, change in tempo/atmosphere and noise.

tattyblue · 23/12/2014 13:45

I'mso glad we're staying at home for Christmas. MIL is coming so she can be happy looking after the baby for two days while I am happy not looking after the baby. Everyone's a winner. Due to a snafu at the butchers, though, we almost ended up with 4 1/2 kg of beef for three people for lunch HO HO HO. Luckily boyfriend went and sorted it out.

I'm feeling inexplicably cheerful today it won't last.

fedup I feel like you're shining a beacon out from the darkness at me. Imagine more than three hours sleep at a time. Imagine.

FATEdestiny · 23/12/2014 13:54

splendide We are lucky to have formula milk because if it were not for formula milk some babies would become very ill and malnourished if they lose too much weight. Don't think of formula as bad, it is a saviour for many.

Babies do sometimes drop centiles, in that they gain weight more slowly than others, especially breastfed babies. But actually losing weight is not ever OK for a baby. No matter what anyone's principles for breastfeeding are, losing weight should always be taken seriously.

mrsb87 · 23/12/2014 14:03

moose so what does your oh so wise (Hmm) gp suggest exactly? Can you see a different doctor? Useless sods, I have a serious disliking for gp's since I got pregnant.
Fingers crossed for us both then goats!

MundayCakes85 · 23/12/2014 14:07

Goats did you manage ok on your own while your fella went out?!? Wink
Splendide glad to hear he took some formula.
Not looking forward to the overstimulation either. Last time we went visiting she didn't do day time naps but still kept the night sleeps. Not sure how to force naps maybe force the ILs to bugger off?
Moose sorry babymoose is having weight trouble, are you doing formula top ups? E's weight gain has slowed down after 8 weeks so not sure if that's normal but losing weight sounds scary.

ohthegoats · 23/12/2014 14:12

We're in a car heading north. Car rammed, roads rammed.. woohoo, festive rammage. Next year we're staying at home!

ohthegoats · 23/12/2014 14:15

Munday - just! Was a close run thing I'd fed her, got her to sleep for a nap, packed her bags for 4 days away, had a poo and cleaned my teeth
