Welcome back!

(Dear greetings cards manufacturers: 'Baby's First Christmas' does NOT necessarily have to include Baby being liberally sprinkled with glitter from your shoddily-made merchandise.

Except that, as I'm rapidly discovering, it does.

Baby:
Lillemor (Lil, Lilla, LillaGorilla) is DD1 and DC2, so named as it translates as 'little mother' and my waters went on the 18th anniversary of losing my Mum. All pregnancy I knew that despite only being 35 odd weeks, that would be the date I'd go into labour and I did. She was 6lb14 at 35+6. My DS turned up at 35+6 too! Born by CS as she went breech when my waters went. (DS was back to back ventouse and remains contrary!) Now Lil is 14 weeks and maybe 11lb, comfortably in 0-3 months. She has reflux and suspected CMPI but after going dairy and soy free when she was 5 days old - she's the most chilled out and contented bub. So different to the CMPI colic hell with my DS. I EBF and plan to feed until 18 months though am on a dairy and soy free diet so I might cave and want cheese and choc quicker!

Mum: 36, climate scientist working on climate change adaptation for my local council after years in research and consultancy. Live with DH, DS (Jonas, pronounced Yo-nas, 2), an elderly cat and border terrier, on the Fife coast. Originally from Yorkshire, I left my heart in Oxford - where I went to uni and lived for many years, and have lived all over from Finland, South Africa to Hong Kong, I had my wee boy whilst living on a remote Scottish island (Orkney).

Interesting fact: When retracing the Silk Road I once rode down the Karakorum highway in Pakistan in full shalwar kemis on the roof of a truck. I am a backpacking nut who can't wait to get on the road with the kids.

Hi Everyone. I've been a bit slack with posting on here lately but will join back in with the new list:

BABY:
Boy.
Born 4/11/14 (Ended up a November baby as he was born at 40+10).
Weighed 7lb12 - tracking just above the 75th percentile so quite a big baby now.
EBF - had a few formula top ups in his first 2 weeks due to very poor latch and a posterior tongue tie.
Normal vaginal delivery following induction due to suspected preeclampsia. He's our first baby and we were very luck to conceive him on our first cycle of trying.

Mum:
31 years old. Live in Kent. Working - I work in quite a specialised job so have been doing little bits of work throughout pregnancy and since L arrived.

Random fact, I have been on TV a few times as an extra type person including on the Graham Norton show.

YellowWellies · 02/01/2015 21:06

In a similar vein everyone - what's the story behind your username? Smile

I live in my yellow fisherman's wellies that were essential footwear on our wee croft on Orkney. I luffs them so much because they're yellow and cheery and steel toe capped. Everyone feels kick ass in a pair of steelies Grin

splendide · 02/01/2015 21:14

Oh yellow I used to go to Orkney all the time as a child. I quite fancy living there but I don't think DH would go for it. Did you actually give birth there? I thought they sent people to Inverness but that would be years ago I guess. I remember an aunt travelling to givd birth but maybe she had complications. I was little so wouldn't know.

MundayCakes85 · 02/01/2015 21:16

Joining in the stats:
Baby girl Etta (Etta poo pants Smile ) born 12/10/14 8lb6.
Induced as 2 weeks overdue. Ended up with a forceps delivery as b2b and stuck, did g&a until then.
Me 29, work for the NHS in Dorset, FTM but Shock DH just suggested we start trying for DC2!!!
Interesting fact: I met DH whilst travelling in Australia.

wondermoose13 · 02/01/2015 21:19

Haha badger i know its typical of the trams! Out of interest whats been your favourite show to work on?

yellow gosh thats made me think! When me and dh got together 10 yrs ago there was something on tv im guessing a comedian or something that said a moose mating call should be "i am a moose, come shag me" which i found hilarious and since then me and dh have been each others mooses, i think the wonder bit came about when i needed a username for something shortly after and its just stuck :)

STIGZ · 02/01/2015 21:20

fedup i think you have blonde/brown hair, small build, think you tell your dp whats for now & again, but think you wear your heart on your sleeve xx

ohthegoats · 02/01/2015 21:27

I too can't wait to get on the road with Pip. Probably just me and her, since boyfriend less interested in my favourite places (Africa and the Himalayan countries). I'm thinking I can take her to India at 5. Trying to convince boyfriend to go to Nepal trekking while we can still hire a porter to carry small child though. Both of us have lived in the Alps for a few years (before we met), so love the mountains - I'm hoping the Himalayan bit will sway him. We plan to go back to France to live for a couple of years when Pip is 3 - 5 years old. Those will be boyfriend's time to be childcare, cos I'll be the one who can earn most as an expat.

ohthegoats · 02/01/2015 21:30

Username is a line that Spike Milligan's dad shouted during a dream, as written in his war memoirs.

FATEdestiny · 02/01/2015 21:30

I mentioned my username earlier - FATE are the first letters of my children's names. Destiny just goes with FATE - I feel my children and my role as their Mum was fate and is my destiny

My username used to be SeptemberBabies. 3 children and my birthdays are all in September. Although we are on the October babies thread, I believe that a higher force has showed me that I was never meant to have an October Baby.

October 2004 - DC1 was planned for. She was conceived 1 month before we officially started trying
October 2005 - DC2 was planned for. Took an extra month to conceive
October 2009 - DC3 was expected. He came end of September
October 2012 - EDD but miscarried in April
October 2013 - EDD but miscarried in March
October 2014 - DC4 missed October by 4 days

YellowWellies · 02/01/2015 21:33

Fate that's amazing!

wondermoose13 · 02/01/2015 21:39

Grr babymoose wont poo! Sorry if tmi! Its been over 24 hrs and hes normally 2-4 /24hrs his tummy is really hard :s weve given him dentinox for wind and rubbed his tummy but doesnt seem to be helping, really dont want him up all night in pain :s

fedupofrainydays · 02/01/2015 21:41

stigz that's kinda accurate! Although I also tell everyone what I think - my friends both love and hate me for it!!

My username just originated when I was fed up one day stuck inside after weeks of rain with my crazy son and joined my local MN page for things to do but there was zero of use on there! Not changed it since!

YellowWellies · 02/01/2015 21:43

Splendide yes he was born in Kirkwall at the Balfour. Lots of women fly south to Aberdeen for labour - any complications, if you want an epidural or an elective CS (neither can be done on the island) multiple births, or if baby is prem or overdue. Jonas was prem but the air ambulance was stuck in Shetland due to bad weather so I had him on the island. Mums to be from the smaller islands move INTO the maternity ward for the last fortnight of pregnancy to make sure no emergency lifeboat shuttling of women in labour is needed. Having an autumn baby is always a bit hair raising as there's a real risk of not being able to get off the rock! It was a wonderful place to have your first - old fashioned care and staffing levels. Smile

FatFlashingLazer · 02/01/2015 21:48

My username is a combination of various nicknames I've acquired. The Fat part is because at uni I was quite slim but ate like a horse. My housemates once bet me I couldn't eat a family sized pie after I'd already had dinner...I finished it in about 15 minutes. It's funny seeing the looks of astonishment on peoples faces when we meet up now and they all greet me with a loud call of 'Fatty Fat Face'...especially as I am no longer slim!

The flashing lazer part was from an old boss when I worked in a pub. I used to work super quickly and did a lot of rushing around. He started calling me flash and singing the Flash Gordon song at me all the time...not sure when the lazer part was added but think it was something to do with being quick, like a lazer Hmm. God, that's long winded!!

RudyTuesday · 02/01/2015 22:10

Hi all

Baby: Charlie born bang on his due date of 3 October. Forceps. 7lb14. Bf. First baby, and probably only one.
Me: 38 living in Newcastle upon Tyne. Not missing working as a Project manager in local government.

I have an unhealthy interest in zombies.

Missus2ndwife · 02/01/2015 22:19

I've been lurking a bit on this thread and mostly on FB now

Baby Zachariah born 18/10
induced 2 weeks early due to loss of amnio fluid.
Weighed 7lbs 4oz
Today weighs a very healthy 13lbs 14oz
FF as he wouldn't latched and I never produced milk :(

Me: 40 FTM
Would like another baby if we can
On Mat leave, haunted by gay boss who is anti marriage & babies (doh!)
Married to father of two young adults hence username and often cause of much frustration

Haven't snogged anyone famous but Noel Gallagher once walked into my chest (he is that short) !!

We are going to a wedding tomorrow up in London. Taking the baby...
Going to be interesting!

YellowWellies · 02/01/2015 23:06

Bump thanks for putting your LO's birthday and age. I had to confess to DH today that I'd lost count of how many weeks Lil is! Poor second child! Blush

Kirstipops · 03/01/2015 00:13

Hi to the newbies!

Baby Heidi (aka Heidipops; my username is my dad's nickname for me) born 4th October, 7lbs 8, a week late. Forceps and episiotomy due to "foetal distress". Induced with a pessary but I'd gone into labour beforehand so reckon the pessary maybe just sped things up a bit as had baby 10 hours later.
Me: 33, living outside Glasgow. We might have another baby, too soon for me to think about that tho! I work in force support for the police, really dull so I'm not sure I'll go back after maternity leave, still wondering what I'll be when I grow up, have an English degree.

Random fact: I (unsuccessfully) auditioned for a part in Gregory's 2 Girls, an (unsuccessful) sequel to Gregory's Girl, which was filmed in my home town. Probably just as well as the role was of a precocious schoolgirl who John Gordon Sinclair fantasises about, which is just icky as I was a young-looking 16 yo. Also haven't snogged anyone famous but my DH is a drummer and his band's song was used on American telly a couple of weeks ago which was pretty excitingGrin

wondermoose13 · 03/01/2015 04:30

Oooh kirsti that is really cool about the song :D

JeannePoole · 03/01/2015 07:39

My user name: I wanted something that sounded like a real name but nothing like mine, in an attempt to make it harder for family members to stalk me on here like they do on Twitter spot me here. Given my job, I really wanted JeanPoole, but someone had beaten me to it Sad

OP posts:
Pregnantagain7 · 03/01/2015 08:04

tatty my mums name is actually addolorata and in Italy the shortened version in Ada which is pronounced aa dah. When my mum came over hear people struggled to pronounce it like that so she kind of made her own spelling/pronounciation to make it as similar as she could.

My user name very boring and self explanatory but I. Thinking of changing it for obvious reasons. Grin

I love finding out bits about everyone too and I think you definitely build up a picture of what people look like in your head.

MundayCakes85 · 03/01/2015 08:13

Morning, we managed to watch the final of Breaking Bad last night with only minor interruptions! E did a 6 1/2 hour stretch but then woke up again after an hour Sad Hopefully she'll give me another hour.
DH back to work Monday, have enjoyed him being home but didn't get as much rest as I'd have liked.
