Welcome back!

(Dear greetings cards manufacturers: 'Baby's First Christmas' does NOT necessarily have to include Baby being liberally sprinkled with glitter from your shoddily-made merchandise.

Except that, as I'm rapidly discovering, it does.

Urgh just found out an old workmate has MS :( shes only 30 what a crappy crappy thing. My mum has MS so i know what shes going to go through. Shes not one for sympathy so i cant really say/do much but i just really feel for her.
She did say shes looking forward to meeting my screaming baby tho lol!

ohthegoats · 01/01/2015 00:55

Did some random putting in a cot tonight in the hope that she might sleep. Used a monitor and everything (scary) because we're away for a few days. She did 7.30 - 9, meaning four of us could eat dinner together, then 10.15 until 11.55 - typical she woke just before midnight, but we actually had adult fun (not dodgy!!) without a baby around for the first time since she was born. I've tasted evening freedom and I like it, sleep training starts Monday.

wondermoose13 · 01/01/2015 02:05

Ooh thats very promising goats :D

has anyone had mastitis? After out first feed at 8pm my left boob was really sore but really close to the top of my chest, feels like a little painful ping pong ball, and while babymoose was asleep from 1130-130 ive ben in bed roasting and shivering :s not keen on it whatever it is!

tattyblue · 01/01/2015 07:05

A. had her first injections yesterday- late for administrative reasons- and after a big scream and a dose of calpol has been asleep since eight pm yesterday. Have I used this time to get my first good night's sleep since early October? No. I've been awake since three, when I woke her for a very reluctant feed. Even with dp sent to sleep in the sofa it's been no good. Horrors.

RudyTuesday · 01/01/2015 08:36

Well we stayed up till 12 and headed to bed at 12.01. DS had been asleep since 10. I get snuggled in bed and bloody DP sits beside me and gives his nose a brain_shaking blow. DS therefore wakes up and spends next hour in my arms while DP snores beside me. What an imbecile.

HNY

ExcitedCJ · 01/01/2015 08:36

Bloody phone!!!! Typed a big reply to you Moose & it froze & then wiped!
Short version - sorry about your colleague.
Re mastitis, never had it but had blocked ducts, which may have been close. Advice is, hot compress, massage out the lumps in a warm shower & while feeding. Feed lots.
How are you this morning?

FATEdestiny · 01/01/2015 08:55

Happy New Year everyone!

ohthegoats · 01/01/2015 09:03

Haha rudy at 11.55 when small woke up last night, I considered faffing around trying to get her back to sleep, but thought no, I'll take her down to watch the fireworks on telly, then come back to bed. As soon as I picked her up she settled back to sleep on my shoulder, all good - until I get downstairs where both blokes are having sneezing fits - then blowing their noses so loudly while laughing about sneezing, that she wakes up immediately.

As the woman who is here said (she's got a 13 month old, and is 8 months pregnant), "Isn't it amazing how you go from spending s lot of time being desperate to have sex with them, to spending a lot of time desperate to kill them."

On a plus note though, boyfriend mentioned last night that he thinks this is the year for a vasectomy. I've been wondering if we'd do another kid, but was nicely surprised that my instant reaction to vasectomy wad 'good'.

splendide · 01/01/2015 09:20

Happy new year! I went to bed at 10, got him sleeping by 11 then we were both woken at 11.45 by the fucking fireworks then had a crappy night from then. Oh well!

ExcitedCJ · 01/01/2015 09:36

How do I shift our day back by 3 hours or so? Seems DS will sleep from 11ish to 11ish with 2 wakes. If I could get him down for 7 & have first wake around 11pm & second around 3ish it would be great! Just no idea where to start!
New Years resolution - he will nap during the day!!

mrsb87 · 01/01/2015 09:40

Happy new year everyone!
We went will to bed as normal last night around 10ish. D decided he was going to chew on my nipper for over an hour and scream like I've never heard before when he fell off! It was a miracle when I finally managed to pop him into the crib on the side of our bed, I held his hand til he fell asleep properly. Slept til 7:30 when I woke up with the most painfully full boob and had to express which woke poor Dylan up. He's now asleep again. We're thinking we might put him to sleep upstairs tonight with the monitor and see what happens. Feeling a bit weird about it to be honest :-(

Inthewaysince82 · 01/01/2015 09:59

Hello all, I've just been told about this group, is there room for one more? Blush

JeannePoole · 01/01/2015 10:00

Happy new year, all Smile

We've started it by me having the crappest night in a long long time. Bed at 1 (had woken DS for a bottle at 12.30, he'd been asleep on DH before that). Two hours' sleep, then a veritable extravaganza of wriggling, thrashing, flailing until I brought him into bed with me. He slept for a bit. I didn't. Put him back in his cot at about 5. He thrashed about quite happily until I gave in and brought him down for a feed at 6.30.

He's 14 weeks tomorrow. Sleep regression kicking in?

Hello intheway welcome :)

ohthegoats · 01/01/2015 10:47

Dribble bibs (currently essential) make them look like little cowboys! Either cowboys or jaunty Jack Russells!

ExcitedCJ · 01/01/2015 10:48

Hello intheway plenty of room. How many weeks is your DC?
We are all a bit sleep deprived!

JeannePoole · 01/01/2015 10:52

goats I got some fabby bibs from Funky Giraffe. I deliberately bought the most cowboy-looking ones they had! Grin

One of the cmpa facebook groups panicked me about mastitis so ive been to ooh and got some antibiotics. Put a hot cloth on it this morning before a feed and it did seem to help a little. Still feel like ive been hit by a truck, but thats probably because i was awake all night shivering and listening to dh snore and ds cough and splutter lol
today dh is putting a telly on our bedroom wall...so hes basically ignoring us all day to play with man toys! Fun times in the moose household

Pregnantagain7 · 01/01/2015 11:25

Happy new year everyone!
Welcome intheway pull up a chair

Well after stressing about getting everything done and much grumbling yesterday we had a really really nice night I drank more than I should and am feeling a bit queasy this morning as dp did the night feed and got up with them this morning. He came up and moaned how knackered he was and could he lie down for a bit! Yes dear welcome to my world and he'd not even got anyone dressed I know he fed them because the breakfast dishes are still on the table.

Both babies stayed asleep through the noise of the kids running around screaming and just generally being noisy I was amazed and of course because dp was doing feeds r only woke once and went straight back to sleep grrr.

Inthewaysince82 · 01/01/2015 11:38

Hello all, thank you for the welcome! DS is almost 10 weeks, born at the end of October, so I hope I'm in the right place!

Happy New Year! Just managed to get her off last night before the fireworks woke her up!

Hello intheway - how old is your little one?

Goats, I know the baby months are hard but don't rush into permanent contraception like him getting a vasectomy. That's a really big decision to be making when you are sleep deprived.

Wondermoose, I had mastitis but it didn't need antibiotics. Breast massage and lots of feeding sorted it. I think mine was mild though, it cleared within 2 days. What was OOH like on new years day? I imagine it being packed full of still drunk people Xmas Hmm

Pregnantagain Did you keep the kids up late too? Mine were in bed by 8.30, even the bigger two.

Put DD down in her cot upstairs at 8pm last night for her first 'proper bedtime' (rather than napping downstairs until I go to bed). She went down awake and fell asleep herself Xmas Shock, with the aid of a dummy I should add. Woke about 11.30pm for her quick 10 minute feed and then slept 'til 7.30am.

FATEdestiny · 01/01/2015 11:48

Sorry, crossed post Intheway. You are indeed in the right place.

splendide · 01/01/2015 12:00

Omg fate you're my parenting hero. How old is your baby again?

Pregnantagain7 · 01/01/2015 12:03

fate yes the eldest two (9 and 4) are allowed to stay up usually I'm a stickler for bed on time but this is the only night they are allowed to stay up. Dd1 asked to go to bed at 12.15 and dd2 fell asleep mid sentence at 12.05 despite being adamant 5 mins before she was not tired and was going to stay up all night!

They don't have much of a lie in and were up at 8 so we are having a lazy day one of the people we had over last night invited us for Sunday lunch but not sure if it was they wine talking I can imagine her waking up this morning thinking oh god I invited pregnant and her four crazy kids over last night Grin probably not what she needs with a hangover!

R is having his nap and l is about to go up for his sleep so I'm going to curl up on the sofa and read one of my pile of Xmas books that I never have time to read :)
