greenstone have you tried hand expressing instead? I find it much more effective than the pump.

amy83firsttimer · 19/12/2014 20:08

We're doing fine thanks barmy - had an 8lb 11oz boy called Milo -dragged out with forceps in the end. He'd been a dream until this week when he got oral thrush but otherwise good.

barmybunting · 19/12/2014 20:35

What a great weight and a lovely name Amy! Congratulations. I hope the thrush clears up soon for him and you don't pick it up if you are bf.

Similar forceps delight here in the end, she wasn't coming out voluntarily after about 48 hours of on off contractions and the induction drip so I was glad they got her out! I hope you are healing ok.

amy83firsttimer · 19/12/2014 21:05

Healed Ok on outside, not sure about inside as still getting on/off blood loss - think I'll wait til after 6 week check before DTD. Muddling along fits well here too, figuring out which faces mean what and what he likes / doesn't like. Silly thing is that as soon as you work it out the goalposts move!!!

Oh and pretty sure I've got thrush too but v mild, just trying to nip it in the bud before it gets bad.

barmybunting · 20/12/2014 00:46

Yes, just leaving DTD until 6 week check here too as blood loss still continues. The thrush sounds awful, I hope it responds to treatment quickly.

Yes to the faces and trying to understand them! Some of them are amazing!

ladydolly · 20/12/2014 08:36

The grunting!!! oh god the grunting! dd is such a brilliant sleeper but from 2nd feed at about 6am she grunts and groans in her sleep I never get any more zzzz's. She sounds like a constipated old man bless her!!

Greenstone · 20/12/2014 09:23

Bad night here, feeds every 1.5 to 2 hours

Hi Barmy, I think I remember your posts from the antenatal threads. Are you a teacher, or was that someone else whose name started with B?

catg83 · 20/12/2014 11:09

Welcome Barmy Brew

Mum has gone home after 10 says and now OH is on Christmas hols. Timing has meant we aren't on our own until the 4th Jan. The extra pair of hands really helps as with BF I feel like I am not doing anything round the house. Off to a 3 year old's birthday party this afternoon. We managed to find a Frozen Christmas stocking on the market so expecting to be very popular Grin

WorkFreeWannabe · 20/12/2014 11:55

So so night here. He slept from 7 til 4 with 1 feed in between but the wouldn't settle until 6.30. Wanted constant cuddles. By 6 I was shattered, but luckily DH had gotten up for work and took over for half an hour. Great timing as he had done the biggest, stinkiest mustard poo, so I missed mopping that up.

ladydolly · 20/12/2014 12:50

dear mum,

I don't want to sleep in the cot. or the basket. or the bed. only on you.

No I don't care how much you have to do today.

love,

babydolly

TwigletFiend · 20/12/2014 14:14

Lady Grin

I know that feeling so well...

happypotamus · 20/12/2014 16:55

Dear mummy,
I am hungry. I know you only just fed me, have spent most of the day feeding me, have lots to do and my big sister wants you to do something with her, but I really am hungry again.
Love,
Babypotamus

Dear baby,
Are you really hungry again? Is this some kind of growth spurt? Or is my milk not filling you up for some reason today? This worries me because I can't give you anything else if my milk is not good enough or if there isn't enough of it for you. Emergency formula is not an option for dairy-free you. Please be ok.
Love from mummy

barmybunting · 20/12/2014 17:09

Hi pink, yes, I am a teacher. You have a very good memory!

Thanks for letting me join you ladies! Congratulations to all in you on your new arrivals.

Are you finding there is a time they consistently go down at night yet? DD seems to love a party from anytime between 3-6pm ending around 1am each evening, particularly a party which involves loads of snacking and toilet usage! She has however, fallen asleep at 10pm for the last 3 days. She still wakes every 2 hours for a feed, but 10pm feels so much better than 1am!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/12/2014 17:56

Just done Xmas food shop home round Sainsbury n back home in hr n half baby slept through it all n 4yr old didn't moan once bribed with a hulk bubble bath toy thing. Just really fresh stuff like milk bread cream n fruit will be needed n husband works nr aldi so can nip in on Tue.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 20/12/2014 18:00

Barmy about 8pm here waking again anything from 10-11 pm n then awake feeding an hr or so n then hrly-2hrly through the night, had the 3-4hr being awake from midnight til 4am til last week where we fed slept on me down in cot wake in 5mins up again feed some more nosey around n repeat!!

ladydolly · 20/12/2014 19:33

Anything between 10 and 12.30 (or on a really bad night 3 or 4am) then 2 wake ups around 3 and 5.30 then up about 9/10.

Annarose2014 · 21/12/2014 00:37

We seem to be consistently getting him down at 11.30. Its fairly challenging getting there though. If he doesn't have a nap after 6pm then by 9/10 he's hit the dreaded "overtired" knicker fit. And its bloody hard getting him to nap after 6 - he just wants to stay wide awake laughing at our living room plant.

Tonight he had an overtired meltdown at 10 and eventually we actually had to put him in the pram and wheel him up and down the hall and around the kitchen. It worked! (Though then putting him into his GroBag was like difusing a bomb. Dontwakeupdontwakeupdontwakeup...)

Those of you who are getting them to fall asleep at 6/7 - how in earth are you making them go off??

utopian99 · 21/12/2014 01:39

anna Grin 'laughing at out living room plant'.

So when A was born we spotted his two bottom front teeth were really close to the surface. It now looks like the first one is coming through. At 5 weeks. And he's too young for calpol.

ah the joy.

Greenstone · 21/12/2014 02:55

Omg teeth at 5 weeks!

Bed for the night at 11 or 11.30 here too Anna. Dd seems to feed and snooze off and on from around 6. dh takes her once he's eaten and gets her really warm in a huge blanket and she uses his little finger as a dummy and falls asleep.

Tonight she woke up twice when I was putting her into the sleepyhead - argh, so annoying!

OP posts:
Greenstone · 21/12/2014 02:59

Does he like the sling any better now Anna? Dd still rages for 5 minutes when I put her in sling but then conks right out.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 21/12/2014 04:09

Ahhh snuffly baby equals not going down til 9pm n hrly waking n that includes feed time nose drops have done zilch as not actually blocked nose n have crib tilted at 45 degrees, sleeps fine on his front on me though!!

barmybunting · 21/12/2014 07:14

I know what you mean about the noise they make eastmids, I can't believe one baby can make so much noise! Hourly wake ups is hard going, I feel for you there.

It was a long night here, back to 1am bedtime as DD was screaming with wind and in a right fix, I hate seeing her like that.

Is it just me who looks at DH at night feeling rather jealous of his sleep? He is absolutely brilliant, will happily get up to change nappies/wind her etc in the middle of the night but I am still rather jealous of his sleep at 3am!

moggle · 21/12/2014 07:27

Argh the night time noises! Driving me nuts. She's been so wakeful tonight. Lies there chattering away to herself. Even when I've got her up and walked around with her she holds her head up with massive eyes looking around. Then gets bored in the crib even though she is yawning away. I don't know how else to encourage her to sleep. She never feeds to sleep apart from a brief few minutes after some feeds. I'm sure shes overtired :-( just hoping this is part of the growth spurt. Although she's not feeding much more often at night, just being so awake :-(

Annarose2014 · 21/12/2014 09:12

Greenstone he only tolerates the Mei Tei if I have it fastened a bit looser than I'd like. But its a loan from the Sling Library so in January I'll try a different one. I'm determined to find one that works.

Shit night here - awake pretty frequently. And when he's asleep making those terrible noises and writhing like he's straining to do a poo. Even through earplugs I can't get any sleep.

He's now awake and thinks the bedside lamp is hilarious. Its pretty cute thats he's started smiling though.
