Ok, day 12 here and baby still very distressed after every feed. I'm certain she has trapped wind as buros and farts (when they finally happen) make her feel better. But she quite often has poo explosions and vomits too.

So today we're going to start on the infacol and see if that helps.

Anyone had any luck with it so far?

Annarose2014 · 22/11/2014 12:56

Have tried the Infacol a couple of times - ooh he dislikes it! He grimaces like mad. But it definately works.

Bellyrub1980 · 22/11/2014 13:06

Ok thank you, that's given me some hope! Will try it and see how it goes, how long are you meant to use it for? A few weeks?

Annarose2014 · 22/11/2014 14:46

I think you can use it indefinately, actually. I know its completely safe, I don't even think it absorbs into babys stomach.

ladydolly · 22/11/2014 21:46

I can finally join you all after babydolly (Orla) arrived yesterday at a mega 15 days late via emcs in the end. she fed all night last night but also sicked most of it back. Another feed today and sickness again. Hospital mw says its just a clear out from living in the womb and that some babies are just like that. It seems strange to me, I've never heard of a baby repeatedly throwing colustrum up? What do you think?

Annarose2014 · 22/11/2014 21:51

Welcome! Mine puked up mucus the next morning. I think it was all the gunk he had swallowed. He hasn't vomited since though!

TwigletFiend · 22/11/2014 21:55

Hi lady, congratulations!

Minimal vomit here for first few days, but I can't imagine with the Toby amounts of colostrum baby gets that there would be a lot to sick up? So it might be mucus/fluid rather than all colostrum?

Does anyone else's baby make wheezy noises all the time when breathing? Jas does, going to ask mw about it tomorrow as bit worried she's having breathing trouble Sad

Greenstone · 22/11/2014 22:00

Welcome lady dolly and baby dollySmile how are you feeling?

my dd did this mucus/colostrum puke repeatedly in her first 24 hours and tbh is still very much a puker. It doesn't seem to bother her though, she just gets back on the boob and feeds again.

We were all out and about lots today and I've a feeling I'm in for a long night tonight because dd 2 slept so much in the pram. I recommend finding a naice hotel for coffee/lunch if you need to feed the baby: comfy couches, lots of pram space and usually decent loos in which to do the nappy change.

We had colostrum and mucus vomit for 3 days. Really shocked me first time round as the mucus was so sticky she struggled to clear it and went blue. I thought she was dying but of course she was fine. By day 3 it was gone. I have read the mucous thing is often worse following c sections.

ladydolly · 22/11/2014 22:26

That's reassuring bellyrub (if somewhat scary at the time I'm sure). I told dp it was probably down to the cs but started to doubt myself!

ladydolly · 22/11/2014 22:33

greenstone I feel wiped out, 15 days overdue, long(ish) labour and traumatic emcs and I'm in a lot of pain with the cramps when I feed. But, on top of the world, I can't believe how much I love her!! (even though every mother has told me it would feel like this).

Just saw everyone else's replies, such a help, you lot are the best, such a support, thank you.

Also, hormones are all over the place, feel very emotional!Blush

Annarose2014 · 22/11/2014 22:44

Ooh the cramps - awful. Mine had gone by the end of the 1st week though. Bloody uncomfortable. I even cramped when I heard him cry! DH was rather awed by that, lol.

utopian99 · 22/11/2014 23:00

Ooh yes the cramps! Mine also gone now, (9 days old) but c section aches and pains still kicking about. It really annoys me feeding so helpless in terms of what I can't do!
Has anyone heard from weeonion?

Bellyrub1980 · 23/11/2014 00:57

Ladydolly... I was 14 days over due. So, like you, already exhausted before my labour had begun. Infact I had contractions for 3 days and then ended up bein induced.

Anyhoo, I think I was in shock for a few days. And then I had the baby Blues for exactly 7 days. I really wish I knew the baby bues existed, because I just thought I was going mad. The anxiety was the worst thing, but also felt incredibly sad.

Bit I'm pleased to say I woke up on the 8th day and it was as if a cloud lifted. I felt normal again.

I'm day 12 now and still get a bit emotional but not in an 'ill' way like before. And it's probably more related to tiredness and reasonable worries about life in general.

So you might feel loopy at the moment, but grin and bear it, it dies get better. If it doesn't, phone your GP or HV

Greenstone · 23/11/2014 05:21

Shit night here. Feed puke cry feed puke cry and repeat.

Bellyrub1980 · 23/11/2014 07:09

Sorry to hear that Greenstone. Why is it always in the night? My baby is the same. Peaceful all day and then angry/hungry/gripey at night

TwigletFiend · 23/11/2014 08:52

I am stuck in bed this morning because gutsy girl won't stop feeding! I have things to do before MW arrives today and I can't leave the house with DD attached to my boob like a limpet!

DP didnt even bring me a cup of tea before he left...!

utopian99 · 23/11/2014 10:54

Whole house weigh in here. Dh wants to put on a few more lbs, ds1 is 2st 1lb Shock (my little baby is a proper boy now) A is almost the same weight as ds1 was at birth, and I have 1st 10lbs to lose. Urgh.

PlumFairy2014 · 23/11/2014 12:02

It's strange not many people have ever mentioned the baby blues to me. I also thought I was an awful Mum and going totally mental. Luckily my sisters came in force and told me their horror stories from the blues, including supermarket crying.

I have been avoiding the scales, I'll have a look through my fingers at week 4.... Or from behind the sofa....

Also having trouble farting here (DD that is) so going to try infacol too, feel so sorry for her whinging in her sleep. :(

Bellyrub1980 · 23/11/2014 12:58

plumfairy Infacol seems to have worked for my 13 day old. She has done a big burp after every feed. Hope it works for you too.

ladydolly · 23/11/2014 14:11

I read that day 3 is the worst for baby blues but I've had some lovely honest friends who told me it lasted a few days for them. I had the odd day when I was preg so hopefully I recognise it.

ladydolly · 23/11/2014 14:13

Oops, sent too soon!

at the moment, I'm almost blissfully emotional, crying when I saw dp rock her to sleep, that kind of thing.

Hopefully home later, I can't wait.

Bellyrub1980 · 23/11/2014 14:14

Ladydolly. Yes day 3-4 was the worst for me. I was a gibbering wreck, but a lot of that was sleep deprivation. 10 days on and I'm feeling much more myself. It can only get better from the day your milk comes in.

Bellyrub1980 · 23/11/2014 14:16

Nothing makes my heart melt more than seeing my DP with our baby. I had no idea how he would be (he hadn't even held a baby before) but it's beautiful. Although his role is a bit limited with me Breast feeding every hour! But he still enjoys his cuddles.

pinkgirlythoughts · 23/11/2014 17:08

I've been really baby-bluesy today- I had a bit of a weepy day on day 3 when my milk came in, and then I've been remarkably ok until today, when everything is setting me off. I think it's because DS is exactly a week old today, and I keep looking at the clock and thinking "this time last week I was..."
