DD sleeps in a long sleeved vest. She's a little oven!

On the colder nights she's also tolerated pyjama bottoms. If we are lucky.

I got our initial duvet / pillow on eBay, but DD found 4 tog too hot, so I bought a - rather pricey - 3 tog from The White Company (with a discount code!).

The covers I got initially from eBay, but got new ones when we moved to match her room theme from Asda. They were still a good price though. Cheaper than sleeping bags!

Mrs81 · 16/12/2014 10:33

DS is long sleeved vest and sleepsuit. But our house is old and chilly at night.

Ikea duvet and covers are cheap and cheery for a starting point Smile

HungryHorace · 16/12/2014 11:20

Ours isn't warm either (neither was the flat) but DD takes after her dad, heat-wise.

Meanwhile, I'm realising how hot I was the last 2 winters while pregnant as this is the first year in 3 that we've had the winter duvet on the bed! Sadly for DH, while he runs hot, it's not that hot and he froze his arse off with the summer duvet on the bed! He's glad I'm not pregnant this winter. :-)

cuphat · 16/12/2014 13:33

Regarding gloves, DD has these magic mitt mittens which stretch to all (child) sizes. We went out for hours today and they stayed on the whole time and she seemed very happy wearing them.

DD is still in a sleeping bag. She moves around so much in her sleep that she'd never stay under a duvet.

I love being pregnant during the winter as I normally really feel the cold. We still have the summer duvet on. DH does feel the cold but I've told him to get pyjamas if he's that cold!

HungryHorace · 16/12/2014 16:15

DH was sometimes fully dressed in bed. I'm sure he doesn't miss that!

curlyclaz13 · 16/12/2014 17:05

Ds is still in a sleeping bag, he has his first proper PJ's on as of last night ! he is a super wriggler though, he migrates from one end of the cot to the other, bangs his head then wakes up.

SunnyL · 16/12/2014 17:58

That's why Lil is still in a sleeping bag -she moves so much in bed I was worried a duvet was pointless because unless I velcro it to her backside it'll be pointless. she does have a favourite blanket that she takes to bed but it's generally balled up under her head.

off to investigate pillows and duvets for toddlers.....

HungryHorace · 16/12/2014 18:32

DD wedges her head against the top of the cot bed, curly! It seems rather painful / unnecessary!

She doesn't use a pillow yet. She's not keen!

BeanCalledPickle · 16/12/2014 20:33

I am vaguely entertaining the idea of moving to a duvet in the summer months as then it will be less of an issue when the duvet is inevitably lost!

Yeah liver is just a monitor type thing for now. I feel utterly wretched and wonder if it's related or not!

Just gone in to see her and yet again the rat bag has taken off her sleeping bag. Duvet purchase it is then! Angry

Mrs81 · 18/12/2014 10:38

Sunny - do you have a blanket you can use in the interim? DS often insists on lying on top of his duvet so I usually just drape a blanket over him once he is asleep!

I have an hr at home alone this now. never happens DH is off today and has taken DS to weigh in and Bookbugs Smile I get to drink a cup of tea while it is hot before heading out to a work meeting in a bit Grin

SunnyL · 18/12/2014 12:47

She fell asleep on her blanket Angry . She's a bit like the kid from snoopy and has a dirty white blanket that she drags around the house when she's feeling fragile.

Mrs81 · 18/12/2014 13:16

Sunny, I believe the word you are looking for is flibbertigibbet Wink

SunnyL · 19/12/2014 11:43

Right duvet, duvet cover and pillow bought. Don't think I'll do it tonight when it's our teenage neighbour babysitting. That would be cruel.

OR

it will be the best sec education lesson she'll ever have! Wink

AlohaMama · 19/12/2014 22:37

We have a duvet here. I think E runs cold - she sleeps in long-sleeve bodysuit, pjs, grobag, plus duvet! Can't deal with sleepsuits, all those poppers, much prefer PJs. i think she has the hang of pulling the duvet round her too.

AlohaMama · 19/12/2014 22:37

6 sleeps till Christmas peeps - are you ready??!!

cuphat · 19/12/2014 23:02

No! I have to pack to go away for Christmas but we're going away this weekend too so I can't really pack till we've got back. We've had to invest in a roof box thing; we've got away with cramming into every available space so far but with DC2 due that wont be an option soon.

pinkbear82 · 22/12/2014 20:09

Because I think it's going to get silly busy I will now wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope you and all nearest and dearest have a wonderful time.

Hope Santa brings all that is wanted! WineThanks

cuphat · 23/12/2014 12:12

Thanks pinkbear.

Wishing you all a happy Christmas too.

I still haven't packed - must start now while DD's asleep!

Mrs81 · 23/12/2014 21:39

Happy Christmas everyone Smile xx

We are travelling to inlaws first thing tomorrow. It's the furthest we have travelled with DS (6+ hrs pre DS...) so wish us luck!!!

HungryHorace · 24/12/2014 12:04

Safe travels to everyone having to go elsewhere for Christmas.

We are staying at home for the duration, with no visitors expected. :-) We may go to the inlaws' briefly, but we shall see how things go with naps / potential excitement meltdowns etc!

Happy Christmas!

SunnyL · 24/12/2014 20:48

merry Christmas all. We've been to the christingle service tonight and DH has just finished building a toy kitchen. I'm actually really looking forward to tomorrow! Grin

BeanCalledPickle · 29/12/2014 11:33

This child will be the end of me! We are in Germany and it's extremely cold. And it looks like she has a cold allergy as in literally allergic to the cold. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_urticaria

I didn't even know this is a thing!

She gets red welts on her skin as soon as its exposed. It obviously hurts her. Poor little thing swelled right up yesterday with red hives with blisters in them.

Took her outside for two mins this morning and up popped the welts again. Feel so sad as she was looking at all the snow this morning and all little girls should get to go out and build a snowman:-(

Oh dear, Bean, your poor DD. What a shame. I'd never heard of it either but that article suggests it must be inherited if she has it at such an early age (acquired "can occur as early as 5 years")?

BeanCalledPickle · 29/12/2014 14:58

I get rashes in the cold. I actually thought everyone did, like everyone burns in the sun! Nothing as bad as this though
