Perilously close to filling the old thread suddenly!

eco you're right, the bedtime milk thing is all ok as he doesn't wake up in the night for milk and I guess, to him, cuddles in his room with milk means bedtime. I think it was just still using the Tommee Tippee bottles that made me think, aren't we "supposed" to stop using them by now? He only uses one for nighttime; has milk in a different cup during the day. I'm overthinking it, aren't I? He's all cool. Glad to hear you're feeling a little better too. I suffer badly when I ovulate and it sometimes feels like pregnancy symptoms. I've always been able to feel it and sometimes it renders me unable to even climb the stairs good to know for TTC though Unsure as to whether or not I have PCOS as DSis has and apparently it runs in sisters (?) but I agree, feeling like rubbish and not knowing what your body is up to is bloody horrible, so hope you feel even better as the day goes on.

doli oh you poor thing. HFM, although not particularly bad bad still sounds rubbish. I hope you all come through the other side of illnessillnessillness soon.

trumpy sounds to me like you need another muddy event to train for? Amirite?! Grin

New job for me. Hooray! (And thank you for all your congrats on FB) It means I get all my mornings with DS and he only goes to the CM 3 hours a day. It's less working weeks (term time only), less childcare, less hours a day, and more money. Can't complain really. And seeing as how I'm on annual leave next week, I only have to work the rest of this week and I'm done. My horrible managers clearly want to make it as miserable as possible for me though. One told me off for telling my colleagues about the new job and the other outright ignored me. So glad to be leaving.

Also just found out that I am to have another nephew in 20 weeks. SIL had her scan yesterday and has clearly rigged it so that she can have all of DS's clothes. It just means that we need a girl next time so that we can have all of our niece's clothes! And BF is due next week but is struggling so much she can't even move off the sofa. All this along with the excitement of doli's babax is making me broody. Humph!

yummychocolate · 17/09/2014 15:42

doli uh oh not another illness. You need cake and hugs. A man being ill is just like having another baby to look after.

something congratulations! Can you say what your new job is? I have ovulation pain too. When I came off the pill I noticed the pain but it is only my right side that hurts. I wonder if that means I only ovulate from my right side only.

I say lets all be really craaaaazzzzyyyy and have our second baby. Come on doli needs our company. Smile

dolicapax · 17/09/2014 17:10

Yummy I absolutely do!!! C'mom you 'orrible lot. Get procreating and share my pain Wink

Thanks for all the support today. I'm feeling much better now. It's amazing what a fish and chip lunch, afternoon nap and cup of proper fully poisonous caffeine loaded tea can do. Plus DH is actually over the worst of it now, having done the fever and proper ill bit of it over the weekend so all is not as bad as it could be. I'm just a bit ugh at the thought of yet more sleepless nights. I'm not good at falling asleep so if the toddle wakes twice it usually ends up so I don't fall asleep at all. A few weeks of that and you start to fall apart at the seams. Which is what I did earlier!!

Eco wise words, we do need a bit of immunity boosting. That starts with sleep. The rest can follow. I'm sure it's just a phase and we'll all be fighting fit again one day... soon, hopefully!

Catch with everyone else's news later, the day has run away with me and it appears to be toddle tea time already. Already! How can that have happened Confused

StormyBrid · 17/09/2014 18:00

I'll join you in number two if someone will kick the man for me.

something the thing with milk in bottles in bed is it's bad for teeth. I assume because of the sugar in the milk. For a clear conscience, brush teeth after bottle. Or you can do what I do, which is assume we'll stop bedtime bottles before adult teeth come through, and so don't worry too much.

Sure I had more to say, but brain frazzled.

Albadross · 17/09/2014 20:15

Is everyone going for a second apart from me?

Trumpelstiltskin · 17/09/2014 21:20

If procreating means no more periods ever then yes please!! My mooncup hath surely runneth over.

WottaMess · 18/09/2014 07:11

No alba. Not the plan here Smile

StormyBrid · 18/09/2014 08:20

Not sure Betty's planning another either, in case she gets another one that thinks sleep is for the weak! Betty (if you're about) how is the sleeping going these days?
Also, fog! What is this autumn rubbish all about? I can see cobwebs.

ZedsDeadBaby · 18/09/2014 08:21

I went and done a name change due to a bit of Pulp Fiction inspiration. You used to be able to spy me with your little eye.

Baby-wise, my plan since I was about 7 (which is about the right age to plan a wedding, job, husband, family) has been to have two children; boy first, then girl. So far, so good. However, if the next child was a boy, then I would have another in the hopes of having a girl. If that one was a boy then that'd be it. Now, I'm not 7 anymore...I'm 26, and I can't work out how people manage with more than one!! That being said, I do want another in the next couple of years. Who knows what'll happen after that.

stormy if that's the issue with milk then tosh! I'm cool with that, and shall worry no more.

yummy thank you Grin the new job is support staff in a school. I've always wanted to work in a school, well I've always wanted to be a teacher but I don't have a high enough GCSE in maths because maths is STOOPID to train and I've managed to put off retaking it for years, so this, to me, is another way in. I think once you're in a school, the opportunities can present themselves. gerry can correct me if I am wrong Wink plus...part time and school holidays. Brilliant.

ZedsDeadBaby · 18/09/2014 08:23

stormy I LOVE Autumn. I had this conversation with myself the other day - I think Autumn is my favourite season. I can't wait to treat myself to chunky knit jumpers and Ugg boots!

yummychocolate · 18/09/2014 08:43

zeds good on you for the career change. Part time is really the best of both worlds. I hope you enjoy it. I hated maths too! Working in a school is my dream job when I decide to ditch social work.

I love autumn too. I need to do some shopping though. I have no decent clothes.

Ds' cheekiness is coming through. I gave him food he shakes his head and says no. I try to get something off him and clutches it saying "mine". Last night he went to bed at 7 woke at 8.30pm saying "finished" and gives his dummy to dh. He didn't go back to sleep until gone 11am. He had wheels on the bus on a loop. Drove us a bit crazy.

yummychocolate · 18/09/2014 08:44

Isn't it around this time when spiders want to come inside as temperatures start to drop outside. I better watch out.

yummychocolate · 18/09/2014 08:46

I mean 11pm. I would be locking myself in a dark room if he didn't sleep all night.

Trumpelstiltskin · 18/09/2014 11:42

Zeds excellent film, excellent name. And well done you for not taking the quote from the Ezekial passage. Personally my favourite bit is the bit with Christopher Walken, but I think the nickname Watchinhisass is a bridge too far, even for old Trumpy here.

Yummy your ds sounds a cracker. Good on that lad, but not at 11. I shall send MIL round to give him a stern talking to.

AUTUUUUUUMN. Yes. Love it. Am currently eyeing up a pair of biker boots in Schuh. But we're in the middle of a belt tightening exercise. My car has been written off so I'm getting a lump sum from the insurers, effectively doubling our savings. Operation House Buy is underway. Hopefully within six months it'll be complete (she says). This part of the plan must come together before Operation Baby No. 2 can begin, although I don't think I really want to do that for another year at least.

Feeling wistful today. Wishing I could vote Yes.

StormyBrid · 18/09/2014 13:53

Autumn cold, rain, big treacherous drifts of wet leaves (Nonesuch Street in the autumn? I appear to be quoting Pratchett), all these things I like. Cobwebs visible in the dew on a foggy morning I hate. My dad walked face first into one when going out the front door this morning, just the thought of it makes me shiver. T. gigantica doesn't bother me too much these days, I can happily shift them with a pint glass if the cats get to them first, but cobwebs... Ugh.

Word of the day: car! Said while pointing out of the window at a car whose engine had just been switched on. According to the red book, they should have 6-20 words at eighteen months. Who's in the suddenly fretting camp, and who's in the trying not to be smug (because they'll all catch up soon enough) camp?

ZedsDeadBaby · 18/09/2014 14:18

stormy surely a visible cobweb is better than an invisible cobweb?

6-20 words, eh? Hmm...car, duck, bubbles, bobbo, William, grandpa, mumm-EE, socks, shoes, Bear (with a capital because that's his name), and an understanding for many more. Of course, most of these "words" are indecipherable but all attempted so I'll go with it.

yummy I have no decent clothes either. I need an autumnal lottery win, I think.

trumpy could also have gone with Badassmotherfcker a la Samuel L Jackson's wallet but I'm far too timid for that Wink

Trumpelstiltskin · 18/09/2014 14:22

Stormy what's your favourite Pratchett? I got sucked into the Watch books more than the others, and would like some recommendations.

DS loves cars. In fact, some days, everything is a car. He loved sitting in the police car on the A38 last week and saying 'car!' every time anything drove past. Which was pretty non-stop for about 30 minutes. I'd hazard a guess that we have about 20 words, but not sure if they count, considering only me and DH seem to know what he's on about. Does it count, for instance, that hair is often 'ha....' (or even 'hay-a') and gone is go? They are getting clearer though...

Trumpelstiltskin · 18/09/2014 14:23

x-post with Zed. I'll take those half words then.

dolicapax · 18/09/2014 14:53

Ah words, well that depends on how exactly you are defining 'word'.

According to me she isn't saying a lot.

According to my mum she can say : fish, grandma, mamma, dadda, baby, cat, owl, cow... and probably a few more. She certainly understands all of those and many others, but actually saying them? Well that's debatable. Perhaps I'm too technical about these things. When is a word a word after all? How close an approximation counts? Grin

I'm in a super good mood today. Can you tell? First and foremost the Toddle slept. Yay! 1.30am I woke briefly, and on not hearing any shouts for milk went blissfully back to sleep again. Second, I have been for a swim! I haven't swum in ages, what with the pool being a cold, and a bit green, and DH being all draconian about things pregnant woman should and shouldn't do... but DH is back at work today, and what he doesn't know won't hurt him Wink. Plus it wasn't that cold or that green so I'm sure babax won't have been inconvenienced in the slightest. Third the HFM has yet to spread, and DH is almost over it, so dah dah daaaaaaa no one is ill.

Someone is awake though. Damn. That was a short nap.

StormyBrid · 18/09/2014 14:55

If it's pronounced consistently and used in context it counts, even if the pronunciation is a bit non-standard. I'm accepting ju for juice and dat for cat. Favourite CBeebies men are Dum (Tumble), Mager (with a hard g, Maker), and Boom (Bloom).

Invisible cobwebs only bother me if I walk into them. Otherwise I don't know they're there, so they don't alarm me.

Pratchett recommendations, hmm. Well, all forty odd Discworld ones, for a start. I like the Watch ones best too. Think Nonesuch Street's treacherous drifts of wet leaves are from Feet of Clay. I've recently finished The Long War (sequel to The Long Earth) and that's rather good too.

StormyBrid · 18/09/2014 14:58

doli trust your mum! Fartypants says doba for biscuit. It's consistent, it's in context, it counts!

Trumpelstiltskin · 18/09/2014 15:10

Well in that case then we have.... dog, cat, Rosie, bird, car, moo, baa, duck, gone, shoes, socks, hair, nose, eyes, Mama. Yes, I am smug.

Doli swim sounds goooood. Since when did a little green hurt anyone? So glad you're in higher spirits, long may they last.

Stormy will peruse the Discworld catalogue forthwith.

eco I made your muffins again! But with dried apricot and some raspberries. You're going to make me fat again, aren't you?

yummychocolate · 18/09/2014 15:29

Does choo choo and broom broom count? Smile

we had daddy, doggy, shoes, mine, no, finished (in home language) and gone (in home language). He says his keyworkers name too. Still no mum though. Angry

Why do I not anything about Pratchett? Who is that?

StormyBrid · 18/09/2014 15:53

yummy he's a very very good author. Writes very very funny fantasy novels. I started reading his books aged 11, because I wanted to know what my dad kept sniggering about. He's got a type of early onset Alzheimer's, and the last few books have been subtly different because of it, but he's still excellent. Trumps have you not read them all yet then? Best after the Watch books are the witches ones. Start with Wyrd Sisters. Equal Rites should technically be read first, but it took him a few books to get into his stride, so I never recommend starting with Equal Rites. For the Death series start with Mort, and those ones are well worth it too, because Soul Music is IMO his best book, and because Hogfather poses Very Important Questions, namely: what does the tooth fairy do with all the teeth?

Trumpelstiltskin · 18/09/2014 16:00

Yummy does ds say anything in English yet? I'm so curious about two languages in one developing mind - a good friend of mine has a not yet talking baby who gets spoken to in English and French at home, then German and Trini at her grandparents. Interesting blend!

Stormy I will download Wyrd Sisters tonight. I quite fancy a new book and a soak in the bath, but perplexed by the thought of reading Pratchett without a good dose of Nobby and Colon to look forward to.
