Good luck with car hunting lilly

Glad you are feeling better yw you are defo not a loom. Or a loon.

fruit did you gave your drive round and come up with any areas you liked?

MIl has taken ds1 and O has gone to bed. So I went to bed for an hour, which is completely unheard of. I opened all the windows and drew the curtains then smuggled in drifting off to the swish of the wind turbine. I think I got nearly an hour of that funny, not quite full sleep, daytime sleep.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 15:22

yw I often get hunches and am often right. However I would guess in this case the empty pushchair spooked you a bit. If it happens again I would phone up and check he is ok if that would put your mind at rest. I'd avoid saying you have a bad feeling because people tend not to get it and think you're a loon IME. But you're not a loon I promise you that.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 15:26

Glad you got a rest wanda

DD1 and my teeth were fine. Yay. Another year gone by with no need for fillings, which is surprising, considering my uk trip sugar fests and my quiche box of treats at Christmas.

My dentist told me not to worry about what food or fruit DD1 eats as long as her teeth are brushed.

Am really proud of how DD1 has behaved today. School went well, she got heaps of compliments at the restaurant for her behaviour and disbelief that she is only a young 3, and was then great with the dentist. Yay.

Wandathewindfairy · 30/06/2014 16:16

Yay for being proud of DDs. How much settling in do they get pr?

Wandathewindfairy · 30/06/2014 16:20

In Other news DH has been put on a swanky European Senior Managers Course which is 5 4 day sessions over the next year alternating between Brussels and Florence. This pleases me as it means that the company he has been working for since last Sept must think well of him and we think I will join him out in Florence on one of his sessions next year. Grin

YellowWellies · 30/06/2014 16:53

Woo a trip to Florence would be lush! I used to work in Milan regularly and do miss my trips to Italy. Italy or Galicia in northern Spain will be our first overseas family holiday. Ahhh one day.....

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 17:07

That's great wanda those senior mgt courses are a massive expense investment so they must be pleased with him.

She just had a morning at school last week with nursery and this morning with a few of her future classmates. That's it until September 2nd when she will do full days including bus trip to the canteen at lunchtime. I'm going to have to take her on a bus beforehand so she knows what it feels like.

MsJupiter · 30/06/2014 17:36

PR I bought my mattress from Groupon, it's great.

YW I don't think that's stupid, I don't believe in psychic stuff but I do believe in instinct and sometimes things don't feel right but you can't put your finger on why, but there may be a reason - or it may be nothing.

I had a hosp appt today to see about taking my wisdom tooth out. They are outsourcing me to the private clinic at the top of my road which is handy but in alarming news they want to do it tomorrow Shock good to get it out the way but I was expecting several months' wait and am feeling slightly discombobulated. They are doing it under a local with no sedation, for my other WT I had sedation and don't remember anything about it. So I hope it's not too bad. Aaaagh quite scared Shock

Lily311 · 30/06/2014 17:51

I love Florance, went there for my 30th.

Car was faulty. Search starts again. Grrr.

Zamboni · 30/06/2014 19:15

My DM spent a year in Florence and loves it. DH and I have not made it to Italy yet - it's top of our city break list when we have both £ and time!

Jupiter hope it goes well tomorrow.

PR sounds very grown up. My DC love the bus and the train - sometimes we just go for a short journey for fun! I think adjusting to change is much worse for us than them, I am sure DD1 will take it in her stride.

YW that feeling is weird and unsettling. If in any doubt I would call my nursery or text a key worker. They actually often text me if drop off has been a bit teary for any reason to say when DC are all settled.

Very busy day back at work. My boss was very appreciative of my return, which is always extremely gratifying. Although it is very demanding of my time and energy I am lucky to enjoy it for the most part. Remind me of this when I next moan!

Oh - and the pox has finally landed here for S. We checked carefully this morning as today is a nursery day and he was fine, so off he went. Call before lunch so he and DH had a man afternoon of hanging out in their pants, making odd food combinations and watching ice hockey. V rare for us to have one on one time with either DC so think he really enjoyed it. S not too fussed yet.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 19:58

I believe in psychic stuff. I have been called it but not going to brag/try to persuade you of/ about that on here.

But i had a student years ago, internet illiterate, who described my mum and granny in a specific place in my house, right down to the clock on the wall behind where me and my mum would stand talking to my granny. One day I told her (this was 10+ years ago) of an accident my granny had had. She described it perfectly. It was not a usual accident.

She used to come to class and say things like don't worry about this thing in your life, or do worry about this other thing. Regarding my personal life.

She didn't do anything more than the immediate future, and our classes were 95% other stuff, but every week she would surprise me with yet another detail.

As I said, people accuse me of being psychic, but this was something else. Before facebook, knowing very little about me.

YellowWellies · 30/06/2014 20:01

I believe in psychic stuff too - my mum had the gift and my twin does a bit too. Sadly I'm as psychic as a brick and can't even guess my baby's gender. Jonas was fine. Sore teeth but generally had a good day. Phew....

StuntNun · 30/06/2014 20:04

I'm not sure I really believe in psychic stuff, I tend to assume it's all coincidence but on the other hand I do think it's conceited and wrong to assume that we know everything and can therefore discount it. Perhaps it's more that I would like not to believe in weird occurrences. There have been more than a few in my life that's for sure.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 20:14

And don't get me started on ghosts...

Anyway. Where would you buy light waterproof trousers for a 4/5yo (dd1) ? Went to two sports shops today who said they didn't exist because "why would you take a toddler on a hike?" Hmm I know they exist but before ordering some vastly expensive ones from a specialist store, have any of you bought/ seen them on the high street?

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 20:16

I think it is difficult to reconcile science with woo - I know you are scientific stunt but there has to be so much more we don't understand. Right?

BigPigLittlePig · 30/06/2014 20:41

I am a scientific bod. I swore blind I didn't believe in ghosts, but on the morning my grandad suddenly died, I had a vivid dream of visiting him and him not being there, and waiting in his bedroom (in a care home) for him to come back, trying not to listen when the staff said he wasn't coming back. Woke in a panic, checked the time, 6am, thought, phew what a horrid dream. An hour later the phone went off to say he had passed away - at some point between 5.30 and 6.30. She also had a dream about him at the same time that night.

Without having talked about him much to F, she pointed at his photo today and said gra-dad. I fair wept.

Glad J was ok in the end. And equally glad that the poxy S enjoyed some boy time and is non-plussed.

Have been up since 5pm yesterday - now in bed abot to crash out! When I was reading Fs bedtime story (Mog), I must have fallen asleep, because next thing I knew I was saying out loud "when the paramedics arrived at the house..." and she was giving me a Hmm Confused look Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 30/06/2014 20:42

The she being my gran.

Brain is proper pickled tonight!

Rowingdowntheriver · 30/06/2014 20:44

I love the diversity on this thread, from feminism to psychic abilities!

I'm a feminist because I believe in equality of the sexes.

As far as childrens toys / clothes go, my boys and girl can play with what they want and in what colour they want. The boys can dress up as princesses if they like although I'm not sure quite whether I'd actually let them go out of the house like that though.

I was a total tomboy as a child - short hair, dungarees, climbed trees, played football. I was given girly presents so had a sindy house and barbies etc but it didn't make me girly.

I totally disagree with the genderification (if that is a word) of childrens toys. Maybe it wasn't as bad when we were young or maybe my parents brought me up with the confidence to not care if a toy I wanted was targeted at boys. Either way nothing stopped me from choosing or playing with typical boys toys as a child.

A massive issue of mine is the bloody page 3 of the sun. How can that be acceptable in this day? It really really pissed me off to see the political leaders all posing with their free copies of the sun off the back of the world cup publicity stunt the sun carried out recently.

I love to hear stories of psychic occurances but I am a bit of a cynic. I love solving problems and can't help seeing these things as problems that can be solved logically.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 20:45

Our babies are at a ripe age for woo. My little brother used to talk to a lady in my house at this age. We named her. Or my parents did. I was too young to understand but plenty of people knew tale of this lady he spoke to.

Dd1 gets very chatty when she walks through the village graveyard. Sat on the grave of a tiny tot and chattered for a while.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 20:46

Back to feminism. I had a bit of a run in with my local toy store manager today. The shop has been refurbished. Pics upcoming.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 20:48

The shop has been divided in two!

Evening all :) E has been a funny old thing today, quite hard work but hilarious at the same time. Seeeeeeriously difficult at meal times but could've been worse, or that's what I kept telling myself whilst pulling my hair out

E used to eat houmous but won't entertain it now. He sometimes eats cucumber sticks but often does the whole chewing up and spitting out like gts H. I do keep giving them but I don't think he's overly keen!

GT glad you dropped the 3am cuddle, yay for better sleep :) Sorry A woke early this morning though, :(

gosh wanda sounds like a nightmare! Hope you've had a relaxing day today

awww pr glad she's enjoyed her second session. Work out the coffee maker and ask them at the next opportunity? I have bought several bits from groupon and never had a problem :)

sorry the car was a no go lily, and if you like each other don't let distance get in the way :)

butch i would've thought they might've been notified too so i would've received said bollocking also.

you're not a loon yw, definitely not - glad all was well and it was just a weirdy unfounded spookily feeling

sounds like dd1 has been fabby today bless her pr

ooooh lovely wanda

msjj i love the word discombobulated! Tomorrow is very sudden though, gosh! Hope it goes well :)

I sort of go for the spooky psychic stuff

Hmmm. E is screeching and singing and talking in his cot. I can't see tonight going well based on this :/

StuntNun · 30/06/2014 20:56

Well I'm a biochemist PR so the science is largely irrelevant to woo. I used to suffer terribly from premonitions as a child and it went as far as getting 'exorcised'. My mum's family are all convinced she's psychic and there have been a few occasions where she has had funny turns when people close to her have died.

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 21:04

Bloody hell stunt that must have been traumatic. I actually have personal experience of exorcism (not me) and would be happy to discuss that via pm if you would like to talk about it.

YellowWellies · 30/06/2014 21:06

I think I've mentioned before J's best little pal who was born the day before him (and is super advanced - she knows her colours, can tell you who is a man, woman, girl or boy, is starting to recognise letters and numbers etc!!!!) sees a man with long hair in her room every night that she talks to. It's really freaking her parents out now, she describes perfectly a man with long hair and a beard, wearing a tall hat, waistcoat and an angry face. Her Dad is a baldy and isn't into the steam punk look. They are seriously thinking about selling their new house as she is up to talking to this man most of the night.

Wah got goosebumps just typing that.

PR that shop would give me the preggo rage. At the farm shop we were at on Sunday, someone had hired the barn for a kids party. The party company's van made me puke 'Glitzy Girlz' parties. A bunch of 4 year olds getting made up like TOWIE. Presumably today's 4 year old girls don't have any boy friends they would like to come to their parties. Angry
