Oh no Yummy. Poor ds. Poor you. How's he doing now? Have you got his temp down? The hot weather can't be helping.

Stormy I'd have said the same last time round, I loved being pregnant, felt great, had loads of energy and looked 10 years younger. I also had one of those tidy little bumps so that from behind I didn't look pregnant at all. That gave a few people a shock Grin. However.... not the same this time at all. Feel constantly sea sick, have a horrible pain on my right side, and am very tired. I need to see someone about the pain really. I'm hoping it's just the cyst, as it's a fairly familiar pain that has flared up before.

Gerrythetootallgiraffeswife · 10/06/2014 07:44

I didn't find out last time til about 7/8 weeks (the trials and tribulations of PCOS meaning it was not unusual for me to go 2-3 months between periods) then had no drastic symptoms but just felt a little nauseous and completely off my food, I lost a stone in my first two trimesters. Was only sick once though. All I wanted was cold fizzy water and iceberg lettuce. I always joke that being constantly pregnant would definitely be the easiest way for me to lose weight. The nausea and exhaustion stopped at 20 weeks, just as the spd raised it's ugly head, which had me signed off work at 29 weeks. Still feel like I got away lightly though compared to my poor friend who was hospitalised weekly with hg then had blood pressure issues which meant daily hospital visits from 32 weeks! She said never again, but they're already ttc with a 6 month old!

Feel like I'm finally recovering from my weekend. Fantastic family wedding but didn't really benefit from the toddle free night in a hotel as I was so hungover I woke at 6am, puked all morning, and missed breakfast. And I LOVE a hotel buffet breakfast! Note to self: I am too old to do jäger bombs with my younger cousins and siblings, especially when it's a free bar which I've already abused substantially.

Today I would like you all to cross your fingers that dd has a day of good napping so I can get some interview prep done.

yummychocolate · 10/06/2014 12:24

Ds has tonsilitis. Booooo. Every symptom i put down to teething. Its so hard when to know when its something else. The doctor has prescribed antibiotics and i have prescribed lots of mummy cuddles.

Good luck for the interview tomorrow gerry.

BettyOff · 10/06/2014 14:10

Quick check in to nag. Doli please go and see someone about the pain! It's likely your cyst but they can take an hcg level and make sure you're not further on than you think and scan you if you are. If the pain isn't too bad, isn't getting worse and goes with paracetamol it's no rush. If it doesn't and is really bothering you then it's best to check, just to appease me if nothing else Smile.

dolicapax · 10/06/2014 14:42

Betty thank you. We're so lucky having your expertise on hand for all things obstetric Smile. I'm fairly sure it is just a flare up of the old problem as it's eased off massively today, but you're right I should go and get it checked.

Yummy poor ds Sad. Dolitoddle struggled to swallow with foods like yoghurt and mashed potato when her throat was swollen, so stick to liquids or chewables. Get well soon.

Good luck Gerry! Hope you've had some productive nap time.

Sun is shining here, and I'm in a great mood because I'm home alone, with no builders to bugger up brighten my day, the toddle is napping nicely, and I have a brand new unopened pot of almond butter all to myself. It really doesn't get any better Grin

ecofreckle · 10/06/2014 14:48

am on phone discussing public liability insurance but wanted to say it does get better Doli. Just imagine.....you've given birth to babax and you and dh and Dolitoddle are in post birth euphoria mode. You didn't fancy eating during your (beautiful) birth but the midwife suggests some toast and almond butter. You eat it whilst babax lies on your chest and Dolitoddle and dh look on with admiration. Surely that's better? Grin

dolicapax · 10/06/2014 15:07

Eco I think you might be right Grin

yummychocolate · 10/06/2014 16:27

doli think of those newborn snuggles and that newborn baby smell. Mmmm....

somethingbeginningwith · 10/06/2014 18:46

There was post-birth toast?!

WottaMess · 10/06/2014 18:59

Oh yeah best bit Wink

yummychocolate · 10/06/2014 18:59

If you mean the rank toast the hospital provided then yes there was post birth toast. It tasted good because a) everything tasted disgusting during the pregnancy b) you was starving from using all your energy during childbirth.

somethingbeginningwith · 10/06/2014 19:07

I never got post-birth toast Sad did you, fellow hospital sharer, plonk?

dolicapax · 10/06/2014 19:27

There was post birth slightly stale bread with jam where I was. Elf n Safety stole the toaster Grin.

StormyBrid · 10/06/2014 19:30

I had to wait eight sodding hours for my toast, and when it finally arrived it was rank white polystyrene with crap jam. It was the breakfast they insisted I stay in for, and it was NOT worth it. Next time I'm coming straight home for proper toast even if it is two in the morning.

Meanwhile, the battle to get social services to accurately assess my mum's needs has begun. Stressful times ahead...

Plonkysaurus · 10/06/2014 20:08

I did indeed get toast Something. It was, as Stormy says, plastic crap. I was most annoyed as we had to wait ages for it because those numpties insisted on pouring a bucket full of saline into my veins before letting me eat. As ds was born at 5.12pm I missed dinner Angry so had to make do with two pieces of crap toast and rubbish tea. Happily I had the foresight to put a snickers duo in my hospital bag.

Doli if you have a home birth you can have real bread and real peanut butter...just sayin...

StormyBrid · 10/06/2014 21:24

I'd heard scary things about the first post birth poo. So I shoved a packet of fig rolls in my bag. Went down a treat once the pethidine wore off and I remembered the world existed.

Plonkysaurus · 10/06/2014 21:42

I had to wait five days for that delight Stormy

Yummy I forgot to add, hope ds feels better soon. So hard to tell what's what, ds gets a dodgy tummy even with a cold so no wonder you thought it was teething! Sounds like you're a hero atm, between these bouts of illness and your job. Have a Brew

ecofreckle · 10/06/2014 22:16

Ah yes Plonky, the home birth delight of being snuggled up on your sofa with your man and your new baby nibbling sour dough toast with unsalted butter and marmite It was pretty much the moment of birthing that I was most looking forward to! And you asked about poo bum....well, it's odd. Saw nurse yesterday and because of me still feeding my lovely
parasite baby they ushered me through to urgent doc. They think that last week I had a virus and over the weekend I recovered from that but that the poo renaissance this week is a post viral lactose intolerance Hmm Sounds dubious to me. Apparently this is not unusual. And it's temporary. And I am fecking starving. Everything nice has lactose in it. No choc, granola slices, éclairs, cakes, biscuits. All the things that keep my extra 500 calories up. I've dragged down my hippy cook books and am making some worthy snacks and cakes so I don't waste away over the next month. I gave the removal men all my goodies today. They were very Smile

Yummy little snuggles for your ds and you. Sounds rubbish. Any cooler tonight? Fingers crossed.

Wotta I might have climbed a tricky wainwright hill in first tri too. All stories to tell our children when they're older.

Doli how is the toddle's sleep? Is it officially a habit now?

I am going to say nowt about my own life right now (if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all being my mantra). Hope you are all chipper and loving the sunshine. Off to eat some marzipan for a sugar fix Sad

WottaMess · 11/06/2014 07:04

Eco try Harry Eastwood for dairy (and gluten) free cake which is to die for. Made with veg so positively one of your five a day. And if you have a food processor then a total doddle. Just grate as finely as you can. Hope better soon.

And healthy vibes to Yummy mummy and toddle too. I know how horrid the endless sickness can be (see dec-apr here) and it's just so wearing. Hope sunshine makes it all better ASAP.

Plonkysaurus · 11/06/2014 07:07

Post viral lactose intolerance sounds shit. Literally. Did they have any idea how long until you're able to devour dairy milk (and digestives) without nasty consequences.
Sorry to hear about your, erm, life (can't think of any other way to phrase that). You know where we are if/when you want to blow off steam.

We tackled the second baby/when to ttc issue last night. Well, I say that. I told dp I wanted another in about 18 months. His response: 'ds will be early three!' Cpt Cleverclogs that one. He then had no opinion on this. So that's settled, ttc when ds is two, maybe. If I can wait that long!

Ooh and what are we all putting the small folk down to sleep in in this weather? Clothes wise I mean. Ds is going to bed in a long sleeved vest and seems happy enough, but mob rules Smile

OP posts:
yummychocolate · 11/06/2014 07:41

eco i hope you get better soon so you can scoff those eclairs. Sorry things are not going well for you. We are here for you though.

Thank you all for your well wishes. We have a problem that ds is not liking the antibiotics and spitting it out. We have tried the syringe and squirting at the side of his mouth we have also tried a quick squirt as he opens his mouth to put dummy in. I don't really want to restrain him and give him a bad experience of this but he needs to take the medicine. Any advice is welcome. Currently there is more pink stuff on his vest than his stomach.

Dm is about to take over while I get my zombie self to work.

plonky good news about he plan to ttc baby 2. We have no plans yet. Days like this one baby is enough for me.

yummychocolate · 11/06/2014 07:47

Plonky- Ds is in a vest all day but his legs were a bit cold before i put him to bed so i put him in the thinnest baby gro i had but took it off in the middle of the night. He has a thin blanket but he always whips it off him at night.

dolicapax · 11/06/2014 08:01

Eco that sounds miserable Sad. Hope it is very temporary and you feel better son.

Yummy Dolitoddle was equally resistant to antibiotics, but she would take them mixed into milk. I found the ratio 5ml medicine to 60ml milk worked best, as that was the max she would drink is she wasn't particularly hungry.

As for sleep, she is now consistently self settling. It is in all honesty like having a different child. Ok, so last night it was 9.45pm before she could be convinced it was bed time, but once convinced she snuggled down with the musical seahorse and was asleep within minutes Shock.

I'm now living in a slightly surreal world where tea tastes rank. I have no idea what to drink for breakfast. Hot water is a poor substitute. Plonky are you sure you want to join me in this tea-less world? Grin ah gowan, I need company

StormyBrid · 11/06/2014 08:12

Oh, doli, you've just reminded me, I went off tea for weeks around the start of the second trimester. It was a terrible state of affairs. No idea what to suggest. I opted for dehydration until tea stopped tasting weird.

Sleeping bag and long sleeved vest here, when possible. We only have three long sleeved vests that fit. When they're all in the wash it's extra thin short sleeved vest and thin cotton pyjama top. Have acquired a 1 tog sleeping bag recently. It's massive.

Plonkysaurus · 11/06/2014 09:38

Yummy I'd suggest the same as Doli - when ds had scarlet fever he held onto his appetite but was stupidly fussy. Apparently strong Ribena is also a good shout.

Doli if we didn't seem to be mid annus mirabilis I wouldn't have had a coil fitted! We're just so damn busy all the time now, I haven't got time to get pregnant yet Wink (in every way) last time I had all day nausea to 20 weeks and was signed off work with exhaustion at 22 weeks ish. Then mat leave at 30 weeks. This time I know it will be quite different with working from home and all that jazz, so I'm quite excited and very impatient.

Would a herbal tea work? I lived on chamomile and nettle teas from about 8 weeks.

Ds is starting to burst out of quite a few of his 12-18 month clothes. And has started dropping things on purpose then saying 'uh-oh!' so you were right Yummy. Redeemed himself by giving me a kiss when I asked for one earlier though.
