Hurrah hales! And sorry for the hangover wl would kill for a glass of wine

Dh has spoken to his parents and put them off by a day which gives me a bit of stress relief. All floors theoretically sanded and sealed now. We shall see.

Maryland2013 · 29/05/2014 17:47

Yay Hales! And good news for utopian too. Hope you're less stressed.. Moving is horrible :(

WLmum · 29/05/2014 19:17

Fab hales! Deep breaths utopian it will all be ok in the end!
Feeling slightly more human now but still cannot wait to get to bed. Just the online shop to do after dds all in bed.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/05/2014 19:27

How exciting hales!

Both dc in bed asleep and I've tidied and washed up. Dp had just got in from work and I'm going to eat some chocolate Smile

WLmum · 30/05/2014 12:56

Recovered today and had a good run this morning. T came and told me that she'd done a poo earlier - I know there's a way to go yet but it's the start of the end of my nappy era!
hales have you had any more toilet success with H?

Stacks · 30/05/2014 14:48

Talk about growing up fast. Today we had a mini tantrum from DS because I wouldn't let him play with his willy longer! Instead I was mean and put a nappy on him so we could go to playgroup.

I've started to really like the idea of getting into running after baby. How long do you have to wait before you can start with something simple, like the couch-5k program? I did it pre-DS but never took up running as a hobby, just did it in the gym for a while then stopped going to the gym..

DS will sometimes tell me he's got a dirty nappy, and is often telling the truth. He'll even occasionally let me change him when he does. Sometimes it's just wet though, so not accurate yet. Still, I change him when he says it, so maybe he'll learn to tell me more. Or maybe he'll stop telling me because he doesn't like nappy time..

halestone · 30/05/2014 15:43

H says wee or poo all the time now usually as shes doing it but sometimes before. Sometimes we manage to get her to the toilet on time though. We still sit her on the toilet every time she says wee or poo though. Then she says paper and then wipes her own bum and gets off.

We've also put her in pull ups in the day now as we find them easier to put on her. If shes refusing i'll just say quick get your nicky nacky noo's on before whoever is in the living room does and she comes running. Also she can get the other nappies off now it takes her a little bit longer getting her pull ups off.

Well done to T WL i feel bittersweet about it shes growing up but shes still a baby to me.

Stacks my friend has a little boy and told me the other day that she doesn't need bath toys now as he's found his willy. It made me giggle i hadn't thought of that.

WLmum · 30/05/2014 19:28

That's really impressive hales! I feel the same. Life is sure easier without nappies but it'll be the end of the baby era.
coffee I think it's really up to how you feel. The general advice is 6 weeks but my very fit obsessive friend was back in the gym after 2 weeks. It took me over a year! I have to say I'm loving the running now and would go every day if time allowed but realistically it's 2-3 x a week. I've made good progress with gradually building distance and speed over the last few months.

Maryland2013 · 30/05/2014 20:18

Wow Hales I'm so impressed :)
H seems so grown up!

I have thought about putting DS in the toilet after his tea as he goes like clockwork then I won't have to clean it out if the nappy but DH says not yet?

Stacks I remember you definitely can't do anything for 6 weeks but after that I suppose it's how the birth goes and how you feel? I waited 12 weeks I think but that was because I went to an outdoor pramfit class and it was just too cold before that! I did a bootcamp in the summer and lost 10.5 inches (!!) it was bloody brilliant.
I think c25k would be ok as it's a gentle ish introduction rather than full on killing yourself at the gym!

All these little ones knowing about their nappies they're definitely growing up too fast!!

WLmum · 30/05/2014 20:20

In the toilet is a bit harsh maryland! Wink

PurplePidjin · 30/05/2014 20:26

R "tells" me he needs to go but doesn't have the language yet to do it other than by crying or acting up. I'm learning to read his cues though. He's always detested an overly-wet or dirty nappy so I was half expecting this. I'm not trying to train him as such but he has lots of nappy free time at home and has access to the potty, and knows what it's for, so will get there sooner or later. He's also been dry overnight a few times.

Maryland2013 · 30/05/2014 20:42

Ha ha ha ha WL- I can assure you DS won't be going IN the toilet. Funny.

Maryland2013 · 30/05/2014 20:43

Does anyone use signs for dirty nappy?

Stacks · 30/05/2014 21:40

Thomas has come up with his own signs, completely untaught. He waves his hand for "no" (interestingly, it just happens to be the 'real' BSL sign) which I think comes from waving away food in months gone by. He also says dirty and taps his nappy at the front. If he hasn't told me it's dirty, a sure fire way of knowing is his refusal to sit down at all.

I've been feeling very proud of DS today. Last few days he's taken a bit more of an interest in those wooden peg puzzles. Bought him a Mellissa and Doug one off amazon which arrived today - he can take out and out back all the pieces without any help! Not sure if he's just a genius (please take with a pinch of salt, all our babies are geniuses!) but the puzzle claims to be for age 2+. Grin

Stacks · 30/05/2014 21:40

Didn't notice I used his name. Ah well, it's not a secret!

Maryland2013 · 30/05/2014 22:05

Sounds like a genius to me! I'm amazed by everything they do and how quickly they learn stuff :)

WillYouDoTheFandango · 30/05/2014 22:19

J just hands me the puzzle pieces and makes me put them in! Genius in a different way Wink

Congrats on the house Hales.

DS doesn't seem to notice a wet nappy but will usually cry his eyes out if he's pooed and I don't change it fast enough.

He is very good at making himself known, so when he's finished his meal he says nerh (no in a strange Yorkshire accent even though we're in Gr Man) and pushes your hand away with his. He's very funny Grin If he's hungry he leads you by the hand into the kitchen, points at the fruit bowl and asks to be picked up. Then he picks himself some fruit. It's ace!

halestone · 30/05/2014 22:27

I think we have a group of genius's Grin Well done to T for completing that puzzle Grin

H is a very vocal baby and can say so much i'm lucky that she seems to pick words up quickly, so understanding her seems quite easy.
I am definately not toilet training her yet i'm just following her cues. I also just want her to associate wee and poo with the toilet so when she says either word we take her the toilet. Hopefully when we decide to toilet train it'll be a tiny bit easier. She seems to have always had a huge dislike of having a dirty nappy though, so i think thats why shes happy to use the toilet.

Maryland that in the toilet comment made me giggle. I think if hes that regular at going the toilet after his tea i would be tempted to put him on the toilet just so he can get the assoication.

Our babies are all growing up! Love this stage where they are real little people and showing their personalities.
