Shit fuck shit

In 5 weeks I will be on a plane. In 6 weeks I shall be married. Must stop procrastinating and do something wedding related

Retaliatory wind farms - I love it!!!! If you are really offended by them think of it as a temporary borrowing of our hills whilst we figure out cold fusion / other energy sources - they can be removed leaving no trace which is more than can be said for other options. I love this article on their temporary nature and our need for a stop gap technology.

I know I am an utter geek on this. We've been known to stop the car when we drive past a wind farm so we can go and have a walk amongst the turbines and listen to their quiet wooshing. Grin I am lucky to have found a similar geek in DH!

YellowWellies · 24/03/2014 16:33

Just opened that link PR am ShockThat farm would never get past planning in the UK. It would be turned down for the visual impact on a cultural heritage receptor of importance (i.e. spoiling the view from and setting of, that castle). I am against bad wind farms as they just give the industry a bad name. Virtually every EIA practitioner in the UK would also tell the developer to find a new site and stop wasting their money before it even got to planning as there wouldn't be a hope in hell of it passing with our planning system.

PurplePidjin · 24/03/2014 16:36

we have fields of solar panels down here. they're pretty cool as habitat grows in between

PetiteRaleuse · 24/03/2014 17:07

I quite like wind farms yw. It shouldn't have got past planning and wouldn't normally but France has no jurisdiction over German planning, and vice versa. The castle is literally on the border. So the Germans were within rights to stick them there - the French could 't do anything but shout loudly :)

I find the whole thing quite amusing and will pop up there soon to take pictures.

PetiteRaleuse · 24/03/2014 17:11

Imagine if you get an independent Scotland. They'd be able to stick them where they liked along the border and the English on the other side wouldn't be able to do a thing about it. The German village within whose boundaries it lies can't really see much of it as it is over a hill. It literally is just pissing the French side off.

Lily311 · 24/03/2014 17:50

Thanks fuck it's bedtime. Enough said.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/03/2014 17:51

I love my wind small holding and all it's whooshing.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/03/2014 17:54

They'd still have to connect to the Grid though........... And what happens when there are wind farms everywhere and it's really windy on a Saturday night bank holiday weekend and there is not the demand?

Ohhhhhh the discussions to be had over a bottle of wine. Wink

ValiumQueen · 24/03/2014 18:33

I would love my own wind turbine. I think they are beautiful.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 24/03/2014 18:37

Changing the subject entirely, I have been meaning to ask for ages about BBC ALBA and whether anyone else's. Children watch it. DS1 can often be found watching something about a Prince on it.

It was a great night last night. We chatted till midnight, which as you know, Is v v late for me, but there was sooooo much to catch up on. then O was up before 6.

I had to drag myself to ladies morning (aerobics and crèche) and had to sneak out and sit down on the loo twice I was so tired Confused

Is definitely bed for me at the same time as DS1 tonight. I am having my hair cut and coloured tomorrow so I might do some pass stylee before and afters.

YellowWellies · 24/03/2014 19:11

Soph v true we need a good mix of generating plant. PR given the national parks alongside the English / Scottish border, poor grid connections in the area and the RAF's tactical training area / radar issues - you'll not get an inundation of turbines alongside the border regardless of independence. Also the same developers operate across the border so they'd not want to piss off the local planning officers on either side by an insensitive development - it would backfire on them in terms of ill will. UK planning decisions can be much more governed by the personal whim of planning officers (and Eric bloody Pickles climate denier piss-ant grumble grumble Envy ).

PetiteRaleuse · 24/03/2014 19:14

Possibly, but I was using the example to explain why legally the French could do nothing about their castle.

PetiteRaleuse · 24/03/2014 19:16

The German planning people who did approve it couldn't give a stuff about the French opinion/monuments iyswim.

PetiteRaleuse · 24/03/2014 19:22

Ha! Reading more into it online. There has been an agreement signed between eu states regarding things like this in border areas. Germany and France both signed but it hasn't been enshrined in German law yet. But it has in French law. So while the French couldn't do anything about the German windfarm the Germans have successfully opposed a similar project on the French side a little further up the border line. Cheeky sods. Sorry I'll shut up now. My local politics is rarely this interesting.

Passmethecrisps · 24/03/2014 19:25

I also like wind turbines. I think they look quite majestic.

This time next week we will be in France!! Family pass that is.

Defo do pictures sophia

How was work chasing? I was thinking of you.

YellowWellies · 24/03/2014 19:31

I'm feeling v smug. I've got Jonas bear a spiffy new coat, bodywarmer and cardigan each for 99p on eBay. Smile Cheap and good for the environment!

Chasing yes yes how was your day?

Pass envy to France - we can't justify a foreign holiday this year what with baby 2 in the oven. Boo. It's a holiday or the wood burner. Sad

Passmethecrisps · 24/03/2014 19:42

I will take you all with me virtually. We wouldn't either if it wasn't for the fact the apartment is SIL's. Looking forward to it
. If it evens things up I a well jell of your wood burner.

P is very much improved today. Proper good mood at bedtime. Phew.

YellowWellies · 24/03/2014 19:46

Am v glad. I love her high heel antics on that video. I instructed Jonas to take note - he's still walking holding hands and some quiche babies are mastering walking in wedges!

ChasingDaisy · 24/03/2014 20:05

Hi all,

So glad to hear that wee P is feeling better Smile. My day was mainly good. I'm really enjoying work. Really enjoying it. It's a job I can do well and I am already thinking of ways to improve things. My team are really great and it seems like a really fun place to work. Was very difficult leaving O this morning though. I had only seen him for an hour or so yesterday and half an hour this morning. It feels very weird not knowing how he got on at toddler group today had to stop myself phoning the childrens centre to ask and knowing everything that he has done today. I'm sure I will get used to it, but I sure as heck missed him a lot today.

Passmethecrisps · 24/03/2014 20:10

Why not call? What harm would it do to check in? I am delighted you had a good day. It sounds fabulous.

I know I have mentioned before that there is usually always at least one point on my journey to work where I could just turn the car round and come home. However, I was born to work. It is who I am. If I didn't I would be a very, very poor mum. As it is p sees the very best of me. I figure that the time she sees me and I am at my very best is worth more than all day with me miserable.

And no matter how tired I am when I come home, seeing her is like a shot of espresso.

You will find your groove

ValiumQueen · 24/03/2014 20:12

Flouncy I would be tempted to take J for a picnic outside A&E and give him dairy. I would not risk peanuts, but I would give dairy a go. You could then get him an epipen in time for the holiday. Make sure it is a quiet day though. I cannot remember what else he is allergic to.

Passmethecrisps · 24/03/2014 20:15

Good idea vq. mr flouncy is allergic to legumes IIRC amongst other things. Eggs?

flouncymcflouncerson · 24/03/2014 20:16

Eggs vq. So far milk, eggs and peanuts. Likely pulses if he's taken after DH.

YellowWellies · 24/03/2014 20:23

Flouncey that's not a bad idea! Or can you buy an epipen online?
