What's kale? Don't think you can get that here.

Well DD1 got through the day without beating anyone up. But LO's lovely white and blue shirt came back bloodstained. She was playing with a toy truck and it kind of flipped up and hit her inside her mouth cutting that bit of skin between the top lip and the gum. The nursery worker said it pissed blood but the nurse said no need for stitch as complicated in the mouth and it's not quite bad enough.

Passmethecrisps · 20/03/2014 17:33

Kale is kind of like wild cabbage. Long green leaves which are sort of bobbled.

Poor dd1 with a split lip.

ValiumQueen · 20/03/2014 17:56

Did a long update and it got lost. Will do later. Basically I have antibiotics, hate my job, and have the correct diagnosis and treatment for J finally.

ValiumQueen · 20/03/2014 18:06

And thank you for kind words. It helps Thanks

Lily311 · 20/03/2014 18:30

Great news re J vq. Sorry about the job hating.

I had the most amazing day with O.she was in top form, lots of giggles, and cuddles and kisses. No tears, none at all. We had to go to the eye clinic and it seems she will need glasses. We have a second appointment mid April, need to give her eye drops for 5 days beforehand.

And I bought her brand new clarks doodles for £2 in charity shop. Bargain!

Can I just say the biggest thank you to this quiche? I might have received a Mother's Day card today but won't be opening it till next Sunday. It made me cry and I feel grateful to be part of such awesome group.

Passmethecrisps · 20/03/2014 18:34

Sounds like lots to hear. I will tell you what vq the last two days have been just a drop in the ocean of what you have coped with day in and day out yet I am still about done in. Sorry you had a bad day. But glad you got a diagnosis for J

YellowWellies · 20/03/2014 18:42

VQ you're an utter lioness. Glad you've got a diagnosis. Was it HF&M? Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Pass hope P is feeling better - that video of her was so Sad Sad

PR lots of them lose their lip tie as a toddler - ouch though!

By going out today and forgetting my phone - I panicked both DH and my sister that I'd done myself a mischief. So many missed calls Blush baby brain!

PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2014 18:45

Yeah it's the kind of injury that looks scary but isn't really. The bloodstains are something to behold :o

My life has been turned upside down. J has been able to play happily without being on my laps or in my arms all day. He is so much happier now. My clingy baby has turned into an independent toddler just by changing his milk. I might phone the HV tomorrow and tell her that J is fixed and why couldn't she have been of any use to me when my baby wouldn't sleep for over a year. At the same time my grandma is desperately ill in hospital so I'm torn between elation at J's mahoosive improvements and despair at losing my gran.

Exanthem, which is an auto-immune response to toxins from the virus he has been fighting. There was something to do with how his body reacts to milk proteins, and his system reacting to toxins in a similar way. It made complete and utter sense at the time, and he has piriton and calamine lotion. It was deffo not infected eczema, and antibiotics were not necessary, but has protected it going on his chest. Had he not had so many days of them already. I would have been told to stop them, but it is now safer to give the full dose. There are six exanthem, slapped cheek being the fifth one, he has the measle one. All very confusing, but the pictures could have been of him. It was spooky.

And this was my GP colleague, through talking to me about his symptoms and looking at pictures on my phone. He talked me through a process of elimination, and we came to the conclusion together. All the usual disclaimers, but utterly accurate. I could have kissed him indeed I would quite like to as he is lush

ValiumQueen · 20/03/2014 20:25

Stunt great news on J and the milk revelation. Sorry about your Gran Thanks When J was finally on the right meds and off the right foods, the difference was incredible. He still has his problems though, bless him.

ValiumQueen · 20/03/2014 20:26

PR I have my tongue protectively on my lip tie thingy. Ouch!

StuntNun · 20/03/2014 20:28

Exanthem VQ? I've never come across that before. Does that mean some resolution to his ishoos? He's such a darling little boy it's not fair that his first year and a bit has been so tough for both of you.

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2014 20:37

stunt relax about your little boy now, you've nailed it. Well done. I'm sorry about your gran.

vq that is EXACTLY what LO had after her Mmr jabs. An auto immune type eczema type but not quite reaction. Anti histamines dealt with it. My paed used that same word exthantème. Or summat like it. She said it was a healthy if uncommon reaction and didn't mean lo would need scratch sleeves (which was my worry).

But she did say it might pop up again at weak auto immune moments (like after jabs, or colds)

ValiumQueen · 20/03/2014 20:49

It makes for interesting reading Stunt. I am very angry the doctor did not listen to me, or indeed look at him properly. PR explains it better than me. I will link to a NZ website for skin problems tomorrow. Apparently it is a superb site.

ValiumQueen · 20/03/2014 20:53

His skin is much improved today. Most of the red raw bits are now as soft and smooth as a baby's skin should be. No sign of scarring or anything. Pretty amazing, and as per description of the condition. His hands are really sore and look incredibly like the pox, but I think that is just because they are fingers as opposed to expanses of skin.

I have to leave him again tomorrow it seems. I will see how I am in the morning, and what kind of a night I have.

Night night peeps. Sweet dreams all, especially Stunt and J Thanks

ValiumQueen · 20/03/2014 20:55

And the exanthem is just an answer to his current skin ishoo. He still cannot tolerate anything more than traces of soya and dairy, and is still shite at sleep. He however now knows 'miss Polly had a dolly' complete with actions.

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/03/2014 21:05

stunt That's brilliant about J. Am so pleased for you and him!

And vq glad you have a diagnosis for J. I hope it clears up very quickly.

E has been beyond miserable this afternoon but is sleeping peacefully now. Long may that continue.

Kyz · 20/03/2014 21:09

Evening all! Didn't get on last night as so busy, but hope all is well! E was coming down with a cold but it is just a cold and he is ok. pass I saw the video of P just now and teared up, the poor little mite, I really hope she's better soon.

donna e chews the brush sometimes too but I try to keep it fun and get him to go AAAAHHHH then I catch the back ones. I think i'm pretty lucky that he loves to brush his teeth. Do you have a mirror? E loves a small mirror angled so he can see himself nicely and that seems to keep his attention for a bit.

yw I have to really concentrate when I sneeze now. I totally get why my mum can barely laugh without a dribble sorry mum

sorry and Flowers for the bad nights Sad but yay [stunt] for your good one!

sophia hope your AF turns up soon and you feel better, hugs

lily sounds like a sensible decision you've made with work etc :) I also have a terrific weakness for galaxy chocolate, particularly ripples and bubbles, I love them.

flouncy I manage to call you flouncy but my head still calls you izzy if that makes sense. I'd be rubbish if i met any of you IRL because you will be your nicknames to me and I would probably call you that

glad there's sleeping through again in the wellies household

E doesn't have a dolly, should he have? He had a lamaze my friend emily but he doesn't ever bother with that now and it's just a soft doll, with a dress on and not removable

gosh chasing that's alot of teeth at once - hopefully though all out of the way at once = less pain in long run? hopefully anyway!

sophia I wish I could be so calm with E and meals. I am definitely better than I used to be but I do struggle with him when he's purposefully being a toad. MIL popped in today and I was proudly feeding E a sausage and bean casserole being very proud of myself that I'd found a vaguely gravy (not really but hey ho) based meal he would eat. She laughed and asked when he'd decided to go off gravy. I told her he has never liked it. She said he polished off a cottage pie last week. Grr. He fed himself the other day for my mum too, with a fork and spoon. He throws it at me. My mum says i'm too soft. I don't know how to be anything else.

PR I have nothing useful to say on DD1 and bits of violent behaviour other than I am sure it's just a phase and she'll be ok with everyone reading from the same page and whatnot when it comes to what you do with her.

wow pikz your wedding has come around quickly, wonderful!

aw hope sharing a pic finds M's monkey fatima I'd be a bit :/ about it being lost too :( but i guess these things happen :( bless her. E loves teddies but no specific one just yet

Sorry you had bad nights last night gt and vq

vq ouch, hope you're feeling better soon, and J too :(

glad you had another good night stunt, I think i would stick with things as they are for a bit longer maybe? the toddler milk and the cheese and yoghurts i mean? If things are going well.

hmm yw i might have to try that one! I put on 1/2lb this week but have had no AF for about 7 weeks now. So am hoping that's it. The rats love kale, I rarely eat it but it's a nice superfood for you so should proably eat more of it!

oh bless her pr hope her lip is ok

vq so pleased you've got an accurate diagnosis for J, and boo to the job bit. Glad his skin is getting better though bless him

sounds like a lovely day lily

stunt i'm so sorry to hear about your gran. I read the first part of your post beaming because you sound so happy and the second part feeling upset for you that you can't just be happy and have it as that. I am sorry :(

Hope everyone has a good night xxxx

PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2014 21:36

When LO had that reaction the interesting thing was she only scratched if it was naked skin. So scratched her cheeks regularly. But her torso only if she was naked. And her legs not at all though she did have some freaking sores on there. I'll see if I've kept the pictures I took vq but iirc right around her birthday she had open sores on her leg as a reaction to a virus. I posted them on fb the same day as I was worried. It looked like infected eczema.

GTbaby · 20/03/2014 21:53

A few other oct bus babies are also screaming in their sleep, arching back, being very uncomfortable. Maybe it's a "thing" they go through? And not an egg reaction as I initially thought. Not sure what to do. How to improve his sleep.

He is 6months old. My goal was to be back to pre preg fitness by his 1st bday... Not even had one work out yet. Oh dear v

PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2014 22:11

6mo growth spurt gt ? It's a biggie. They get hungry right about nlw but as you said on fb might not be ready for solids.

YellowWellies · 20/03/2014 22:16

GT or maybe a few of them have intolerance / reflux issues? (40% of babies do). Back arching and screaming sounds more like distress than developmental leap. When J has had a leap we have those chatty, owl eyed wide awake nights - they're not usually screamy for us? If the back arching babies sleep goes to shit and they comfort feed every couple of hours then I'm guessing it's a diet thing.

Did anyone watch Davina? Epic lady!

PetiteRaleuse · 20/03/2014 22:51

You're right as ever yw I was thinking of the 6-12 week colic that I was advised btw over here should clear up at 12wo and if it doesn't to seek help re intolerances.

Hindsight eh?

I was v careful on the early threads to not say "oh over here the advice is..." Because I did it so often and it sounded like bragging.

There is a definite 6mo spurt though , right round when they get hungry and it's a toughie.
