Hmmm. Get up early and poas. Is it bad news if it's positive?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 17/03/2014 19:35

I really do not want another one. I am ready to grow with the babies I have got and I feel like I have done my lot of sleepless nights and wiping up shit, chasing after wayward toddlers, mr tumble and the night garden. I don't want to have to loose my baby weight again, or bleed for 6 weeks after the birth.

Having said that, if it is a BFP, then it really really really was meant to be, I shall embrace it and enjoy it and know that that person was always to be part of my family.

StuntNun · 17/03/2014 19:42

It's interesting what you're saying about the possibility of CMPI in the previous generation YW. My DS1 and DS2 weren't great sleepers in fact I thought DS2 was awful until J arrived. Cue my mum bitchily remarking that my brothers and I were crappy sleepers. Curiously she gave us evaporated milk rather than doorstop milk because of our eczema that started as soon as we were given milk. Couple that with the fact that my allergy symptoms and nasal congestion have cleared up since I cut milk down to just in tea whereas I used to drink up to a pint a day and couldn't usually breathe in through my nose. Like YW I'm starting to see CMPI wherever I look! J's sleep improved gradually over the week since I stopped giving him cows milk but also his mood has improved and he is much happier but also not quite so clingy. I'm not looking forward to the effects of the dairy challenge this week.

Ear wax - I just use the buds and pray to the Gods I won't do any damage Grin. We do them every 3 days. Along with his nails Hmm. We have a shit tonne of both. Hmm

We are mid dairy challenge. Taking it veeeeeeeeeeery slowly.

I would appreciate your thoughts YW. I haven't been around due to work, so DP reports the following:

Thurs/Fri/Sat were all as normal. Sunday he fell asleep very early (11.30, versus 1pm) while on his way to swimming Hmm. He had an hour, and then had another hour much later in the day. He went to bed as usual, but woke about 45 mins after going to bed. I wasn't here. DP said he gave him the rest of his bottle, and he went back to sleep after an ounce. (I never give a bottle after bedtime now grrr!) He slept through after that.

Today he fell asleep at 11.30 again, DP said he left the room, and when he came back a minute later, O was sat up on the sofa, asleep Grin. He had an hour and a half. He's gone to bed as usual.

Sunday he did no poo all day (he's a 3-4 times a day non solid pooer usually!) but this morning he did a mammoth one!

He seems okay. I noticed he has 2 new teeth on saturday, after not getting any for ages, of course he would fricking get 2 while in a dairy trial rendering all findings pretty useless Hmm.

So, we gave him some more dairy this evening.

I will give him some more in another 4 days.

Oh, the only other change we noticed is he usually falls asleep as soon as he is in the cot at bedtime. The last 3 he has been found chatting to himself 10 minutes or so after being put down. He hasn't cried, and has gone to sleep.

DP also said one night he woke and was chatting at 3am, but again went back to sleep.

I think it is going okay. I guess I could put the waking to teething.

TheDetective · 17/03/2014 19:50

I've read it back. I think I can answer my own question Grin.

He isn't showing reactions yet. Last time was a week when he stopped sleeping. And I didn't take it as slow as this.

Fingers crossed. :)

YellowWellies · 17/03/2014 19:55

Det just keep going as long as his symptoms don't worry you. And remember that it can be cumulative and symptoms may suddenly appear if he's had too much. Good luck!!!!

Stunt we can be like the kid from Sixth Sense, but with cows milk intolerance Grin .

VQ we both adored our time on the island and would do it again in a heartbeat - it just wasn't for us long term. It is a great adventure for a few years even if you don't make it permanent. Good luck! You never know soon you too could be a ferry louping sooth moother (Orcadian for incomer!).

YellowWellies · 17/03/2014 19:57

Det on the cotton buds thing - Jonas adores having his ears cleaned. He just lies on the towel, blissed out and still while I do. I find it soothing too actually. cotton bud addict Blush

TheDetective · 17/03/2014 20:01

Yep, I think that is what happened last time! Cumulative effect.

O loves it too Grin. Mostly. Occasionally he gets a strop because he has seen something more exciting!

I love a good ear clean out! Grin

They clearly take after their mothers!

Kyz · 17/03/2014 20:03

Checking in, been very busy, hope all is well

Sorry to read of many poorly babies, hugs all round xx

TheDetective · 17/03/2014 20:05

I should add the reflux seems totally resolved. He's not had ranitidine since January, and no Gaviscon for quite some time I've forgotten when!.

So, I reckon he should at least be okay with traces, even if he can't have cheese/milk/yogurt/butter.

I really want him to be able to eat without worry.

Does anyone elses LO's not have solid poo? O had reasonably solid poo pre-weaning while on Gaviscon, but not since. They vary on looseness. DS1 was the same. I thought it was normal, but it seems other babies have solid poo? Envy

StuntNun · 17/03/2014 20:20

Det J hasn't had a solid poo since the vomiting bug a few weeks back.

YellowWellies · 17/03/2014 20:26

Det Jonas' reflux is totally gone - until we do a dairy trial. I'm going to wean him off his meds after the effects of this trial wear off. Please may he not be awake again between 1 and 5 am tonight Confused .

TheDetective · 17/03/2014 20:30

I so hope it doesn't return. We haven't got any meds in!!

Stunt Did J have solid poo from weaning? :)

I'm praying for no babies to wake tonight!

BigPigLittlePig · 17/03/2014 20:30

Glad you've brought up the subject of poo Smile.

F has had diarrhoea, offensive eggy stuff, for months, and getting worse, even without egg. This isn't normal, right? Paeds appt is in 9 days only taken 16m to get it and have a funny feeling they will tell us to get rid of wheat as well in order to assess things. I am so happy to hear of babies outgrowing their allergies, but for all the good news I hear, I feel so sad that F still has such a dreadful reaction. I just don't know where to go from here, she's on the max dose of meds, so no room for manoeuvre when things flare up. I don't know, poor paediatrician is going to be bombarded with Qs!

VQ I like the sound of a change of scene, and totally get the resenting clients thing. Sometimes I have to slap myself for being cross that the patients are poorly Blush

Det it sounds like all is going well. The dietitians instructions to us said, challenge with small amounts, if no reaction after a couple of weeks, up the amount and keep going, until they begin to show signs of problems, then drop back to the last tolerated "dose" of dairy.

Chasing glad O is doing so well, enjoy this week with him. Hope you are feeling a little more positive?

YellowWellies · 17/03/2014 21:05

BP we were told to ditch a dairy trial entirely if his nappies turn stinky and lose solidity to protect his gut health long term. Hence I'm ditching this trial now. I'm considering trying him on dairy free probiotics to see if that'll help his tum.

BigPigLittlePig · 17/03/2014 21:08

She's having no dairy, soya or egg though, this is what is worrying/perplexing me. Surely there can't be something else?! Perhaps we need to be stricter on the "may contain traces" stuff.

BigPigLittlePig · 17/03/2014 21:09

I worry so much about her poor tum and the longterm effects all this will have. I feel quite cross at myself for not pushing harder for this appt Sad

ValiumQueen · 17/03/2014 21:19

Dispatches quiche fish to BP. You are doing everything you can for your baby. Please do not start with mummy guilt over this x

YW I clearly have no idea what island life would be like. I have visions of a little plot of veg outside the back, and setting up a campsite in my huge garden. Glamping no less. I will apply, then if offered the post I will have a decision to make. Just the process of applying will no doubt help lift my mood.

Night night quiche, I hope you all get good nights x

ValiumQueen · 17/03/2014 21:21

Just googled pro biotics for kids of the dairy free variety. Fuck me! How much?

BigPigLittlePig · 17/03/2014 21:30

Thanks for the slap vq, wondered where old fishy had been hiding. I just feel I should have known better, especially in my line of work.

Night all xx

YellowWellies · 17/03/2014 21:33

VQ caravans on the island are typically held down by concrete weights on rope - there are campsites but most folks don't camp twice Grin ! Apply!!!! It's definitely a fantastic change to modern life Smile
BP I feel that too. Sad

BigPigLittlePig · 17/03/2014 21:37

Whats good for one etc etc...

PurplePidjin · 17/03/2014 22:06

BrewCakeWineThanks all round

I dropped my phone in the work car park, thank fuck it's been handed in! I checked everywhere else, just obviously not there hard enough Hmm twat

I have R's cold. It's a hell of sore sinuses and swollen glands, I can barely swallow let alone speak. Youth working involves lots of enthusiasm, thank fuck I've only got tomorrow to get through then Wednesday night off

R has started saying Cue when you hand him something food and tonight we had to say goodnight to all the toys and put them in the toy box before he would go up for his bath :o He's still grumpy, had barely any lunch but then hoovered up a honey sandwich and yoghurt with strawberries when we got home to my mum's so I skipped tea (he ate at 3:30) and he's been sparko since 5:15. FX no sleep talking tonight, he kept me awake from 10:30-1 with it last night then pooed at 6 Sad

YellowWellies · 17/03/2014 22:26

Corr Pidj that was lucky!

VQ no one can really know about island life until they do it. One thing I would say is it seems to be good for folk's careers - by making a move that others wouldn't it's a good way to fast track a promotion. I knew lots of teachers and healthcare folks who'd made the move for a promotion - some stayed some didn't.

The reality is always different to what you expect. Glamping made me giggle as I remember standing in the queue of Argo's (the best baker on the island) and seeing my reflection and that of the rest of the queue - think windswept / waterproofs even in July/ homeless chic and wondering where any last vestage of glamour had gone Grin . Wellies are tres chic on the rock.

PurplePidjin · 17/03/2014 22:27

One of the benefits of a small rural community Wink

Blasted baby is muttering, I want to go up to bed but don't to disturb him and definitely don't want him thinking I'm going in!!
