It's time to move to Post-Natal clubs.

Yay!! Go S!

Hope you're both feeling a bit better soon, illness + baby = shit really tough Sad

Cavort · 18/03/2014 16:32

That's great news Alex (not feeling ill, obviously). I hope she keeps it up for you!

Mother that sounds like the start of separation anxiety. E went through that phase but is much better now. She is still a bit mardy and clingy for 10 minutes when she has just woken up but is fine all the rest of the time now.

Which multivits are you all giving to your babies? I asked DH to call at the supermarket on his way home last night to get me some ice cream for my sore throat BFing-friendly stuff to alleviate cold symptoms and asked him to get some baby multivits as well. He got some called Abidec which are bright yellow drops which I mixed with E's porridge this morning and then she wouldn't eat much of her breakfast which she normally wolfs down. I'm wondering if the multivits taste horrible or if it's just a coincidence as she was having a bit of a funny morning?

Alexandra6 · 18/03/2014 17:22

DH just came upstairs so S could have a feed - they were playing his tickle game and laughing but when I asked how it was going, he said "yeah, she was crying quite a bit before...it's tiring, isn't it!! I appreciate what you do even more now!"

So at least the vile bug has achieved that! Grin

BlearyeyedLol · 18/03/2014 21:06

Cav I'm giving L one called wellkid. If I'm honest it tastes vile but she seems to be happy taking it in her evening bottle of expressed (which already contains a bit of porridge)!

MotherOfCleo · 18/03/2014 21:23

H is in his cot in his own room for the first time tonight.....eeek, scary.

MotherOfCleo · 19/03/2014 06:57

well it was a better night Grin 9 - 6.30, he woke up coughing at 12.30 and 4.30 but that is still far better than usual. I'm trying to put him back down in the hope I can get another hour. I slept awfully as I kept waking up and listening out for him.

Alexandra6 · 19/03/2014 07:20

That's great mother, did you get up and feed him when he woke up coughing or did he get himself back to sleep? S currently has a pattern of sleeping through with two short wake up feeds, which I'm happy with. I think we're going to move her into her own room when we get back from our Spain holiday (woop) when she'll be just over 6 months but we might need to do it sooner as she's getting long for her cosleeper bed.

Alexandra6 · 19/03/2014 07:22

By the way are people still using their angelcare sensor mat when babies go into their own room and bigger bed? Does it still work ok?

MotherOfCleo · 19/03/2014 07:45

Yep I went to him and fed him, basically as a way to stop him coughing, poor guy Sad he went back down awake but took far longer to settle, think it was all a bit strange for him. My oh is poorly an his snoring is awful an he kept waking H so this seemed a good time to try H in his bed, he is the same, he rolla so much in his crib that he hits the sides and wakes up. Hmm

Took him back to the docs yesterday as he keeps coughing up his milk, he now has 4 days of steriod tablets I have to disolve in water and give to him, they have definitely helped though!

Alexandra6 · 19/03/2014 07:51

Would a bumper or rolled up towels help with the side banging? (If ether are safe?) I've heard mixed things about bumpers and safety.

I think S is getting more aware by the day so in a way, it might be a good idea to have her in her own room now while she isn't that aware of things. I'm not going to go against SIDS advice this early though. How old is H mother? Well done for doing the first night apart!

janey1234 · 19/03/2014 08:12

I think for young babies you're not supposed to have rolled up blankets or bumpers as they can suffocate them. Not sure at what age you are supposed to be allowed to use them though? I know they sell breathable bumpers in John Lewis though...

Cavort - I am loving your contribution to the Malaysian airline thread... It's mad isn't it that it's just disappeared, just can't imagine how awful all the families must be feeling ??

M still sleeping well. Properly have the fear about a 9 month regression though...

janey1234 · 19/03/2014 08:12

All those numbers were meant to be a Sad

Alexandra6 · 19/03/2014 08:45

Haven't read the thread but saw this on fb just now about the plane www.wired.com/autopia/2014/03/mh370-electrical-fire/

janey1234 · 19/03/2014 08:48

That article was linked to on the mumsnet thread the day before yesterday I think... Things I read last night on the thread are on bbc news this morning. Is worth a read - they're so ahead of the news! Lots of people who know what they're talking about including our very own cavort Smile

Alexandra6 · 19/03/2014 09:00

Just read cav's comments, interesting - I said to DH I wonder how much is really known behind closed doors!

Cavort · 19/03/2014 09:07

Nah Janey, I clearly haven't got a scooby doo what I am talking about with regards to airline engines but DH does and I couldn't resist passing the info on I love a good bit of gossip and speculation. DH has been trying to find out info from his RR mates but I think they've been told not to talk. I can't wait to find out what actually happened when it all eventually comes out.

Most of the rest of the people on the plane thread are very knowledgeable and have some very good theories and I am enjoying following it. FX for some news soon for those poor relatives and friends.

MotherOfCleo · 19/03/2014 17:21

ohh interesting, shall have a read Grin

H is 19 weeks on Friday alex, my oh has tonsilitis and has been told to keep his distance so it seems a good time to move H, rather that than risk him getting tonsilitis after already being so ill. I'm sleeping in the spare room (next door to H's room) too as I dont want it either.

To be honest it is for selfish reasons too, I can't hack being up 4-6 times a night so if this helps its worth a go.

BlearyeyedLol · 20/03/2014 07:50

Alex my angelcare monitor does not work with the big cot Angry. I have tried everything and it won't pick up her movements. So I've given up and just have a sound monitor. It was hard but I kept telling myself the risk of SIDS is much lower after 6 months! My only option would have been to buy another mattress and that would have probably cost me my marriage so not worth the risk

janey1234 · 20/03/2014 09:00

Oh yes forgot to answer that! Yes Angelcare works in his cot with his massive thick mattress (sorry lol)

Cavort · 20/03/2014 09:25

Has anybody bothered with crawling shoes or do you think they're a waste of money? I wasn't going to bother but E is very frustrated at the moment because she can't get enough purchase with her feet to propel herself forward so I was wondering if shoes would help?

HazleNutt · 20/03/2014 10:21

My angelcare works in the cot as well.

I haven't bothered with shoes, but V has several pairs of crawling tights, with non-slip feet and knees. Like those:

OP posts:
PickledLilly · 20/03/2014 16:16

I haven't bothered with any shoes or anything special and L crawls/cruises fine in babygrows or tights...her knees and toes are constantly filthy no matter how often I clean the floor but it's certainly never slowed her down and we haven't got any carpets so it's all slippy floors.

My moan today is about other people interfering with breast feeding...not literally as that would be weird but why can't they just butt out? My bloody mother keeps going on about how I've done my bit and I should stop now and how can I now she bites. I normally only feed her at night now but after another testing day of crying Velcro baby I fed her at 4pm for some peace for both of us and mum started ranting about what's she supposed to do when I go back to work, it's the first time I've fed her before 7/8pm in weeks and weeks aarrgghh! Just fuck off!

PickledLilly · 20/03/2014 16:29

On the plus side, I took her to be weighed today and she's finally hit 14lb and has stayed on the 2nd centile so all that being a food slave personal chef was worth it.

Alexandra6 · 20/03/2014 21:45

Yes pickled my MIL does that, totally sympathise! I don't have anything against bottle feeding if that works best for the mum or baby but at the same time I secretly think I deserve a medal for sticking with bf through the really tough first two weeks - and ever since I've found it convenient and enjoyable on the whole so I don't get why anyone would ever question it! Annoying!

Cavort · 20/03/2014 21:58

Lilly your Mum's concerns seem a bit strange as even if L BF's during the day regularly she is hardly going to request boob from your Mum. Grin I think your Mum can rest easy that she will be able to settle her by other means. Good news on L's weight gain. Opposite problem here, I haven't taken E for weighing since January as I am worried she will break the scales.
