poor L and poor you lol. Best place though, hope you do get some rest! Hope the wall murals aren't as freaky as the ones in my hospital childrens ward....they were disturbing. Confused

Hope H is feeling better too brave!

My H is so much better, although he is coughing so much its making him sick at times Sad

MotherOfCleo · 13/03/2014 07:46

Ahhh finally some sleep! Grin Grin 12 - 7.30 with just one 10 minute wake up at 4.30, I would happily take that every night! Grin Grin

He did have a 10 minute coughing fit at 6am but I'll forgive him as he's poorly Wink

Hope L is feeling better lol. Glad you got to come home from hospital!

Alexandra6 · 13/03/2014 07:58

Yay mother! S went down 8.30pm to 6.30am with just one wake up at 1.30am which I'd be very happy with IF I could've got back to sleep! I lay there in the early hours for aaages, was so frustrating, and the more I kept thinking I'm wasting quality sleep time, the more awake I seemed to be!

Glad you're home from hospital lol

MotherOfCleo · 13/03/2014 08:20

Ahh that is frustrating alex Sad

H was asleep from 10ish but woke at midnight coughing, I'll be glad when this cough has gone!!

HazleNutt · 13/03/2014 08:39

V declared that 6AM is morning, thanks very much. Well, better than yesterday when he decided to get up for the day at 5.
Just might have had some evil thoughts concerning DH who was grumpy and complaining that he was woken up by the baby.
Um -
a) so was I
b) I was also up twice to feed the baby during the night, he happily slept through
c) V will have a couple of naps, so DH can sleep as well, I don't quite get the chance here.
Honestly, great husband otherwise, but I think I 'win' here.

Oh and had some awfully sad news which I just cant stop thinking about. My friend who got pregnant through ivf with a donar egg after nearly 5 years trying and 3 rounds of ivf lost the baby Sad I am so sad for her, she was beyond excited to find out she was finally pregnant and I hoped beyond hope that it would all work out for her!

Alexandra6 · 13/03/2014 08:52

Oh no, I don't even know her and that brought a tear to my eye, heartbreaking. A friend of mine starts IVF for her second next week. Can't imagine how awful it must be for it to work and then lose the baby, especially if it's your friend's first and after trying for that long Sad

Yep hazle you def win. My DH sleeps in the spare room every night from when S has her first wake up, works out best for all of us with him having to go to work. lucky bugger Wink He got in trouble last night for closing a cupboard too loudly and waking S during the evening which was a bit mean as he was making us a lovely meal at the time and he tries his best to creep around!

BlearyeyedLol · 13/03/2014 12:28

I'm so glad e managed to come home last night! And I think the antibiotics / calpol combination must be drugging her so we had a better night than usual. Up at 2 and 5 then 9 only GrinGrinGrinGrin
Yes hazle you win hands down.

BraveLilBear · 13/03/2014 19:40

No question, you win Hazle!

We also had a good night (by recent standards) only one wake up at 315 for nearly two hours.

No more temperature spikes either so I dragged myself out of bed, got myself ready and then woke H up at 730 to get him ready. Felt so guilty :/

Still, made it out of the house by 8 and at work by 850. Result!

Glad to hear of some health improvements across the board, hoping for some clean bills of health soon!

Alexandra6 · 13/03/2014 21:44

I'm still bf'ing S to sleep, both during the day and night. Sometimes a dummy will work instead. It's working well for now and I've accepted the fact that S is a baby that can't just be put down awake. I'm just wondering when and how we'll make that transition though?!

Cavort · 13/03/2014 22:11

Alex we don't have a society of teenagers who have to feed to sleep so i'm sure it will happen on its own. E doesn't generally feed to sleep any more (she used to at S's age) but she certainly still uses it to wind down and get sleepy and to be honest I enjoy it. It makes getting her down for a nap much easier and it's a nice 10 minutes for both of us a couple of times a day. She is not reliant on it and will go to sleep without a feed so I will just carry on with it while it still works for us. Research has shown that babies who have a pleasurable association of going to sleep, whether that be fed to sleep, cuddled, rocked, etc., go on to be better sleepers in the long term so just think of it as laying the foundations for a good end result. Smile A good resource on feeding to sleep on Kellymom

Hazle you absolutely win!

So glad to hear of babies getting better. I raise my Wine at the prospect of some better sleep for us all!

Cavort · 14/03/2014 08:17

She slept!!

E slept 8-4, a quick feed and then 4.15-7.30. Grin I feel like a new woman! Please, please, PLEASE let it last!

Alexandra6 · 14/03/2014 10:08

Ah great news for you cav! I'm feeling frazzled as not a great night with a couple of wake ups and wind (Sophia, not me!) and DH getting in at midnight, eating all my breakfast toast, needing the loo at 4am etc! Oh well at least it's the wkend so DH will be around to help - and the sun is shining!

MotherOfCleo · 14/03/2014 16:36

fab news cav, hope it quickly becomes habit!!

H was up at 2 and 5, then up for the day at 7. My OH has now gone away for the weekend especially nice of him as its my bday tomorrow and so its just me and short stuff alone...oh and builders working in my kitchen spreading dust everywhere....yay.

Quodlibet · 14/03/2014 18:32

I need a gin!!

MiL very kindly came up today to babysit W while my colleague and I worked from home on a major funding deadline today, but it was the first time she's done it and I had to do a fair bit of listening to W crying and grizzling from the other room while MiL tried to feed and settle her; she clearly just wanted me :(. Fortunately she then did then obligingly conk out for a three hour nap so MiL could wheel her round the park.

MotherOfCleo · 14/03/2014 18:40

not fun quod, I had to resist the urge to take H away from my mum yesterday, he was really upset and screaming and when he gets like that even my oh gives him to me as that calms him quickest, mum insisted on persevering though.

I've finally managed to get H to go to sleep by putting relaxing music on, phil collins works a treat, who knew huh!! Shock

Cavort · 14/03/2014 20:46

Mother I would much rather listen to the dulcet tones of an overtired baby than those of Phil Collins. Poor you!

Gin it up Quod, that sounds like a stressful day so you've clearly earned it.

E's passport arrived today thank goodness. Now I just need to worry about the million and one items of baby junk I need to fit in a suitcase. Smile To those who have taken babies on holiday already, are there any items you didn't take with you but wish you had? And is there anything you took with you but didn't really need?

Steve Jones is on Room 101. That man is just gorgeous! Mmmmm!

HazleNutt · 14/03/2014 21:05

don't take too much cav, there are shops everywhere. No need to stuff the suitcase full of nappies and food.
Take a change of clothes in your hand luggage though, we once had quite a spectacular projectile vomiting incident on the plane.

Alexandra6 · 15/03/2014 07:11

Do you think that's the case if you go to the Maldives or Mauritius? I'm thinking you'd need to bring nappies and wipes - especially the Maldives? I need to decide on our holiday plans. To my surprise DH has suggested Mauritius this year! (I mean surprising as I'm on crap mat pay obvs so I guess it's his treat!) I'd love to go back to the Maldives but we'd either be risking going out of season, or we'd need to wait until early next year when I'm potentially back at work and it would be a shame not to make good use of DH's holiday days for this year. I'm going to start researching - has anyone been to the Maldives out of season? Or to both Mauritius and the Maldives?

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/03/2014 10:57

Been to the Maldives out of season 3 times. In all the time I was there only had a couple of rain showers, (afternoon normally) and they were an hour max. Have actually had worse weather on times I have been there between Nov and March. Its rare for it to rain for long periods of time every day, and I would def go off season again. However research the atolls as the weather is very different across them and some are much more settled than others. Also the worst times (the ones you really want to avoid) are the monsoon changeover months (which off the top of my head are Oct/Nov and Mayish I think) as it can be v unpredictable and the sea tends to be pretty cloudy

Alexandra6 · 15/03/2014 11:14

Oh that's really useful thanks merk although damn October would be ideal timing for us. We could always go mid-sept though. What times have you been and which resorts? Amazing there isn't it.

janey1234 · 15/03/2014 12:48

Alex, is this your unsubtle way of telling me you are coming on honeymoon with us in Sept? Wink

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/03/2014 13:41

Er my list of Maldives trips is actually embarrassing as its so long (and would out me for sure) but I've been every month except Oct, Feb, Apr and May

Alexandra6 · 15/03/2014 18:19

Have you ever been the chaaya reef or reethi beach? I absolutely love the Maldives, DH laughs because I measure everything financially by the Maldives - he wasn't allowed to build an extension this year as "we could go to the Maldives 6 times for that" Grin

And yep janey, you won't mind babysitting S on your honeymoon while we swan off snorkelling, right? Wink

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/03/2014 13:34

I do that too! Am putting off new windows to campaign for a Maldives holiday instead (with the argument it will be easiest before baby can crawl)!
Haven't been to either of those but from everything I've seen/heard/read I would pick Reethi beach. A few years ago the Chaaya resorts weren't getting the greatest reviews but that may obviously have changed now
