There is nothing crueler than being wide awake from 5am and your child sleeping till 7am.....not fair! Confused Obviously 5 hours was enough for me last night. Hmm

Alexandra6 · 04/03/2014 08:36

How annoying, I hate it when I can't get to sleep immediately after each night feed! Luckily I managed to get straight off after each one last night. She also slept 8pm-8am, only waking up for quite quick feeds at 2am and 5am. I'm happy with that. Keep wondering what the 4 month regression will be like as it's looming ahead! For the moment I'll enjoy the nights we have.

Our best bet with S not crying for a meal is having her at the table on my lap facing everyone, and eating with one hand. So if she's not asleep and she's kicking off, that's what I'm going to do and I will sit next to DH so he can give me a hand. I can't believe they'll make comments again even though I know they will

MotherOfCleo · 04/03/2014 21:12

I woke up having an awful dream that someone was in the house and was going to kill us......understandably I couldnt then get back to sleep. Sad I used to have awful nightmares but have been fine since moving here, hope this was a one off!

My OH has been amazing though, I felt like death when he got home and he sent me straight to bed for a nap, he then cooked dinner while I had a bath. I love that man heaps on days like today Wink I feel so much better now!

H slept 11.30-7.30 last night, with 10 minute wake ups at 1.30, 3.30 and 6.45. Not too shabby.

Alexandra6 · 05/03/2014 08:09

Has anyone been swimming in a normal pool? What did your baby wear? Water babies says they should wear a wetsuit as it will be cold for them but all I could see in mothercare was a body warmer, not a full wetsuit - maybe that's enough? I'm also guessing it would be handy for her to wear in the pool when we go on holiday to Spain, both to keep warm and protect from the sun - the pool is usually cool, not uncomfortable, but not really warm.

Alexandra6 · 05/03/2014 08:11

Oh and another 8pm-8am here, bedtime routine is going really well until it all goes to shit tonight when we go for a meal at MIL's house!

BlearyeyedLol · 05/03/2014 10:09

Alex I swam in a pool and also in the sea when we were on holiday and L wore a long swimsuit. Not a neoprene one, just normal fabric. She was fine as I think the sun and overall heat help!
Janey have you found the one???GrinGrin
L woke up at 2 and 5, and then slept till 8. Best night in ages!

janey1234 · 05/03/2014 10:38

Alex I've been swimming in a normal pool and had a body warmer thing. For France I will get him something with arms to protect him from the soon. You'll soon realise when she gets cold in the pool - was easy to tell with my niece as she went blue and was shivering

lol - narrowed it down to two!! Now in a bit of a pickle... Gah....

janey1234 · 05/03/2014 10:41

Oh and good sleeping all round! DP was meant to do dream feed at 10.30pm last night as I'd had an early start due to teething (can see to other #3) but he fell asleep and forgot to do it. That meant M woke up at 3am hungry which was mildly annoying, but he was back asleep with 20 mins. Woke up early at 6.30am again today though, damn teeth.

janey1234 · 05/03/2014 10:41

That should have been tooth number 3

HazleNutt · 05/03/2014 12:09

V is a lot happier now that 3rd tooth is out, so hopefully the grumpiness should not last long for M either.

Well, there is an upside to working - I don't mind the 6.30 wake ups, as I need to get up anyway and can then spend some time with V. Silver lining and all.

He's dropping more and more milk feeds though, now we only have the bedtime, dreamfeed and night reliably. Other times he's sometimes interested, sometimes not. And of course refusing formula, no chance.

I have to say that all official advice is remarkably useless. "milk should be the main source of nutrition", "should get x oz per day MINIMUM!!". Well thanks, would you like to come and try to get it in him?

I am starting to suspect that it's all a con, touted so people would not start feeding their 4-month olds steak only. Because I can't really see why milk is so special - it's mostly water, with some protein, vitamins and minerals, but he should be able to get those from other sources as well. Or has anybody found any reliable sources explaining why babies must have all that milk?

Hola. We've been cutting teeth and settling into nursery - he's already got the entire nursery staff eating out of the palm of his hand!

I'm back to work on Monday. Not looking forward to it at all - department is in chaos, I can't find anything to wear and we've yet to make it to nursery before 930. Need to be there by 830!

How's everyone else getting on?

Cavort · 05/03/2014 16:47

Alex E started out wearing one of these and now wears a happy nappy and one of these. There is a baby in our swimming class who just wears a happy nappy costume and her teeth are always chattering by the end of the lesson. I always feel sorry for her being cold but her Mum doesn't seem to notice.

Hazle I was just reading this thread which has some theories/answers about milk until 12 months.

Hey Brave, I can't believe you're back at work already. How are you feeling about it? Good news that H has settled well into nursery.

Sleeping is still shit here. Not quite as shit as when teething but still loads worse than normal. Please, please, PLEASE let this be the 8/9 month sleep regression so I can look forward to it being over soon. Confused E went into the 4 months regression early so fingers crossed. We've had a month of bad sleeping so far but she was teething for the first 2 weeks so it's difficult to tell how long the bad sleeping has really been going on for.

Is Purple still around?

MotherOfCleo · 05/03/2014 16:58

alex H wears a happy nappy and a mini wrap wetsuit, but oddly he is the only one in our class that does, the others just wear happy nappies. Hmm

BraveLilBear · 05/03/2014 17:03

I was wondering about purple too :(

Entertainingly I think my first proper AF is trying to come to coincide with my return! Makes sense as with solids and the 1-2 ff a day the bf demands are fewer.

Bit nervous about it being a first coil AF and worried about whether or not I'll be able to use tampons. The glamour!

Have been so inspired by the underwater pictures that I'm thinking of shelling out for remortgaging proper lessons. H would be heading towards a year tho by the time we got to s picture - what age does it work til?

Sorry to hear nights are still crap. They're crap here too, coupled with low iron stores I'm not sure how I'll cope next week!

BlearyeyedLol · 05/03/2014 17:36

Hi brave long time no see GrinGrin
Ooh janey tell us more about two contenders!!
Random question- is anyone giving anything up for lent? I was looking for inspiration online yesterday and found this forum where one person is giving up lying, masturbating AND facebookGrinGrin. So I figure I must lead a very boring life. Decided to stick to chocolate, biscuits and crisps!

Cavort · 05/03/2014 20:23

Lol neither DH or I are religious so won't be participating in Lent per se, but I imagine I will be forced to continue to involuntarily give up sleep so I guess you could say I am kind of taking part. Wink I think chocolate, biscuits and crisps is a commendable attempt. I think I would find chocolate particularly hard, especially when AF is due.

Brave the guy Lol and I are using for underwater pictures shoots babies/children (that sounds so wrong!) up to age 10, but I guess they are all different.

Why wouldn't you be able to use tampons? I have been using them without any issues ever since AF came back at 7 weeks postpartum so I'm sure all these months later you should be fine. When I had a coil prior to having a baby it did make AF a bit heavier but manageable, but since giving birth AF has been much heavier every month so when I had a coil fitted last week I had a naturally heavier AF combined with the affects of the coil which resulted in the first 2 days of bleeding being so heavy it was soaking through the thickest tampon every few hours, which clearly isn't a manageable situation. I have decided to give it a few months to see if it settles but if it doesn't improve I will have to get it removed and get an alternative.

BraveLilBear · 05/03/2014 20:29

Eek! Sounds horrendous Cavort - fingers crossed it settles down soon.

I'm slightly worried that I might not be able to hold a tampon in place anymore following the whole childbirth downstairs reshuffle. I've heard it's an issue for some.

God that would be a ridiculous last straw if I am one of them!

HazleNutt · 05/03/2014 20:44

thanks cav but that mostly says the same, that 'must have' and 'main nutrition'. I bf as much as I can, of course, but as said, he's losing interest.

lol as I managed to overdose the thyroid hormones I take, I have already given up everything that can speed up metabolism or raise body temperature, as this would make me feel massively crap. That includes coffee, sauna, alcohol and spicy food. I have nothing left to give up!

OP posts:
janey1234 · 05/03/2014 20:44

Oh brave lovely to see you - and I hope you're worrying unnecessarily about that. Mind you one of my best mates once came back from the loo on a night out looking like this ShockBlush as a girl announced her tampon had "fallen out" on the way to the loo. It was the middle of summer and she claimed to have no knickers on. I didn't know her but she went to the same school as my friend. They were about 25 at the time and childless. I always hoped that she was lying and a massive attention seeker otherwise there must have been something not quite right?!

Lol will send you links to dresses. One is couture and double the price of the other but have promised myself to not worry about the cost and just choose based on the dress... Yes still can't decide!

HazleNutt · 05/03/2014 20:47

oh I want to see too, can you post them on Facebook berry thread?

OP posts:
janey1234 · 05/03/2014 20:52

Lol. Yes - chocolate, crisps, biscuits, sweets and cakes. Have done it every single year since I was about 7 - except last year when I decided that i had given up everything fun anyway due to being preggers.

janey1234 · 05/03/2014 20:52

Will do... This is the bug unveil for Alex too though!! Alex - don't tell a soul!x

janey1234 · 05/03/2014 20:53

Big unveil. Not bug.Confused

BlearyeyedLol · 05/03/2014 21:41

Wow janey you have some willpower! I did think about sweets and cakes but that was too much at once! And considered wine too but then thought I deserve some especially with dh away!
Currently sat in my front room enjoying a dh free evening - watching an old episode of OBEM with L sleep on the couch so as I don't have to keep going upstairsGrin

Cavort · 05/03/2014 23:45

E has been in bed since 7.50 and so far has woken up 5 times. Sad
