I for one have a very surprising baby.

utopian99 · 14/08/2013 20:48

Haven't done any sleep training but waited till after our holiday when he was 6 months to move to his own room and he was then pretty good (down after supper plus half hour feed at 8, one wake up at 3/4 and up for the day at 6.45). Has been noticeably worse while we are on holiday this week so we'll see how long if, please god let it not be if it takes him to get back to normal..

He's just gone off and so I'm off to finally have a Wine and leisurely read of the ft with dh and pil, who are all watching football! they are very patient to put up with my lack of sporting interest...

utopian99 · 14/08/2013 20:52

Also Shock at haircuts. I never ever want to cut ds' hair. Dh says I am a galloping hippy..

lazzaroo · 14/08/2013 20:52

Oh, and stacks she does drink out of a sippy cup but only 50-75mls at a time. But that's with me around. Hopefully she'll take more!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2013 20:52

Dp has football tonight, which is fine. He's only playing ten minutes away but on no, he has to take his fucking 30 year old brother home in the opposite direction before he can come home because the nob head can't drive. Fair enough if you don't want/need to drive but ffs stop sponging lifts off people Angry

DD has had loads of haircuts but it's still long enough to badly french plait.

Lazzoo that's exactly the feeling I have! Great way to explain it.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/08/2013 20:53

Utopian it's quite possible ds will be one of those long haired boys I always raised an eyebrow at.... Grin

lazzaroo · 14/08/2013 20:55

DD1 was born with a crazy amount of proper thick hair! I couldn't attempt to cut it myself and I think she'd be tripping over it now if we didn't get it cut Smile. Dd2 has a pretty good head of hair but by comparison she's practically bald!

jackandjilly · 14/08/2013 21:11

Busy day here, friends this morning for a play and natter, then swimming this afternoon. Both dcs well behaved and made for a lovely daySmile

Another one hoping any sleep regression does NOT happen!

Haircuts!!! Dd is 4 and not needed one yet!GrinGrin

ISpyPlumPie · 14/08/2013 22:23

Yep, think there's an eight month sleep regression going on here. It's a little difficult to tell for certain, given that N's sleep has always been on the decidedly rubbish side but we are averaging a wake up every hour before I cave in and co-sleep which is getting tricky now he's so mobile.

Also there's something a bit random going on with his poo. Since weaning, things have obviously moved on from ebf nappies but it's still been soft. Today however, he's suddenly started passing fully formed stools. The poor thing goes bright red, grunts and looks really surprised - he clearly doesn't have a clue what's just happened. I know that this is what is supposed to happen eventually, but seem to recall from last time it was a more gradual process and it didn't appear to cause DS1 any discomfort. He hasn't eaten anything out of the ordinary, isn't dehydrated (massive horse wees too) and is otherwise completely well. Any ideas? Confused.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 14/08/2013 22:26

No ideas Ispy but the same thing is happening here. DS' poo looks like playdoh and he does a real bearing (baring? Which one is it?) down face when he does it Grin

halestone · 14/08/2013 23:49

We have the poo face which goes bright red here as well and the bearing down and if shes sat in a upright position she lifts her legs. Also 99.9% of the time she seems to poo if shes say upright gravity must make it easier for her.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 15/08/2013 00:59

Argh J's been asleep for 5.5h and I'm still not! I just cannot sleep Confused

utopian99 · 15/08/2013 05:45

Hmm no solid poo here yet but colour has definitely taken a turn for the darker and bits in (sorry, that's really tmi!) Also more of a paste consistency..

Can I ask (know we've discussed before) how much yours eat and how long it takes them? We are blw but with some preloaded spoons of the mushier stuff whichI kload and then just hold up so he can choose to take or not. Also if out and no better option am using plum pouches which again I hold the end of and he 'steers' (he likes to eat straight from the pouch)

The thing is I have no idea what's typical at 7.5momths. Yesterday he had a few handfuls ofweetabix, about a 1,5cm of bannana and a sq cm of toast for breakfast. Half a dozen good squeezes of a lamb and pea plum pouch and his fist sized lump of my ham and cheese sandwich foe lunch, plus the insides of three slices of tomato and a slice ofcucumber.
Supper was a couple of his handfuls of noodles, a mangetout and sq cm of chicken in bits, with a third of the pot of apple and plum puree for supper.
Snacks are rice cakes, grapes and baby biscotti.

Written out like that it looks likequite a bit but doesn't seem like it in person iyswim? He's still feeding at least 5 times a day and twice at night and I'm sort of hoping he'll be fully weaned by 1yr old...

utopian99 · 15/08/2013 05:47

Crickey sorry for the essay!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/08/2013 06:11

Yesterday ds had:

Bf
Porridge with half a fruit pot
Bf
Few skips, baby biscuit, baby yoghurt (we went to macdonalds and that's all I had that was portable!)
Bf
Goodies oatie bar
Chicken, rice and peas (about 3tbsp)
Bf
Ff

It wasn't a very healthy day Grin so your ds sounds like he's doing great utopian.

Maryland2013 · 15/08/2013 07:00

Yesterday DS had
7oz FF
Porridge for breakfast plus 1/2 fruit pot
Chicken noodles pouch for lunch
Biscotti biscuit
Full fruit pot
7oz FF
Cheese potato veg pie
Yoghurt
Few bits of apple and orange
Few organix crisps (to prevent shouting whilst dinner prepared!)
7oz Ff before bed

Not that different to other babies I don't think.. Sounds fine Utopian..

Maryland2013 · 15/08/2013 07:02

Oh and to answer your other question utopian he eats it as fast as he possibly can and shouts in between mouthfuls!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/08/2013 07:03

Oh yeah ds shouts between mouthfuls and eats his meals in less than five minutes but I spoon feed him

lazzaroo · 15/08/2013 07:18

Am relieved to see your little ones are on snacks between meals too, was worrying it was just my bottomless pit of a baby!

She is starting the day as she means to go on....has had a Ella's kitchen banana brekkie pouch and some toast fingers for breakfast. Hasn't bf yet but that's probably because she fed 3 times last night! Hmm. Will feed her before we go to take dd1 to pre-school.

Yesterday she had;
Bf
Porridge & toast (breakfast)
Bf
Rice cakes (snack)
Bf
Breadsticks & dips, fruit puree & nectarine (lunch)
Bf
Bf
Cottage pie, fruit puree (tea)
biscotti biscuit (supper)
bf

She usually eats when anyone else is to avoid her freaking out and clambering all over them, so I feel like I'm constantly shoving something in her general direction! And she usually happily takes it!

lazzaroo · 15/08/2013 07:23

utopian I was hoping I'd be able to reliably drop a feed by now too but it's very unpredictable. Am craving a bit more routine now really which I hoped would come with meal times. Doesn't help that her naps are so unpredictable!

Interested that you've tried grapes, how do you cut them? And has anyone tried raisins yet? Dd1 used to choke & be sick with them!! Can't remember when she got hang of them!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/08/2013 07:23

Ds has refused breakfast in favour of additional boob

WillYouDoTheFandango · 15/08/2013 07:34

Sounds about right to me Utopian. DS probably takes less at lunch than your DS as that's finger foods and more of a suck and spit out meal Grin but he hammers tea as I spoon feed him.

Typical menu:

4oz formula
Full weetabix with whole milk and blueberries
7oz formula
Spread cheese sandwich, cucumber sticks, cherry tomato halves, nectarine
4oz milk
Stew/vegetable pasta/our tea fork mashed (If having plum pouch he eats it all) plus full fruit pot or yoghurt, 2 rice cakes and a plum or apricot
2 x 7oz formula in evening/night

He eats finger foods slowly, I usually give him at least 30-40 minutes at lunch time.

utopian99 · 15/08/2013 08:47

lazza we cut grapes in half lengthwise so he has some grip apparently less choke risk..

itsMYNutella · 15/08/2013 09:28

Morning. I'm feeling better after a big whinge yesterday. Also my oldest brother had phoned on Tuesday night to say they have spent all their money (80 grand) on an extension so they can't afford to come to my weddingSad made me sadder than I thought.

Anyway, met a friend yesterday for lunch. Then I did a little bit of wedding cake shopping - waste of time Sad German cake isn't going to cut it and their customer service is rubbish!
I also made an appointment at the very expensive wedding dress shop in town GrinGrinGrin

Little man has only started having breakfast for the last week or so and our day runs a bit like this :

Breakfast (he normally BFs sleepily an hour ish before getting up for the day)
Big handful of healthy version of Cheerios with some fruit purée or yogurt (need to buy yog and milk!)
BF
Lunch- vegetable sticks, bits of fruit some pitta with a tuna spread on it.
BF
Possibly another bf
Dinner - porridge with fruit in which is spoon fed and probably when he eats the most.
Bf

When I find time to cook I want him to eat dinner with us... Or have a bigger lunch but hey ho. This seems to work for him.

Off to the Zoo today which I'm really looking forward to Smile

MaMaPo · 15/08/2013 09:37

Morning all. Another broken-ish night - you could set your clock by this baby. She self-settled fine last night (we went out for dinner - yay for adult conversation, not to mention steak) and then was up at 2 and 4 then up at 6. She's awake and doing tired grizzling, but just can't settle herself at those times. Not sure if it's a sleep regression - I wonder if it's the carryover from becoming more active during the day. She is definitely more frustrated and more keen to get moving, so maybe that's it.

For you mobile babies - did they go through a period of unsettled nights right before they achieved something?

Have decided to be zen about it. I know she can self-settle, but she's telling me she can't at these times. It's like she's super wired though completely exhausted.

Re meals - some improvement here. She ate nothing while we were in Berlin (except for some weisswurst, some pretzel and some schnitzel tastes - Grin)

Breakfast - about 2-3 tbsp porridge with bm, apple puree; half a banana mashed in plain yoghurt. A bit of toast occasionally, mostly just played with.
Lunch - hit and miss, but yesterday had 2 cherries, half a banana, a large plum, some rice cakes and lots of water.
Dinner - about 4 tbsp of chicken casserole mixed with sweet potato, a baby yoghurt, and a peach.

She doesn't really snack. She is a fruit and yoghurt fiend.

ISpyPlumPie · 15/08/2013 10:31

N's menu yesterday -

Breakfast - porridge and raspberries
Lunch - 50/50 roll with cream cheese, quorn mini savoury egg, couple of small spoonfuls of cous cous and a couple of melon squares.
Dinner - a few pieces of salmon, rice, mange tout and baby corn (was given three of each, but took a few bites out of each one before discarding). Ella's kitchen biscuits.

Sounds a lot written down, but as we're blw more probably ends up on the floor than in N.

Not really doing snacks at the moment - he still bf on an ad hoc basis between meals. He is reducing it a bit now though so might think about introducing snacks soon.
