Old thread here.

We seemed to be running out of space (again) so I made us a new thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Meant to add, this is possibly the best fiver I have ever spent:

No problem Wors!

We've had a nice day here today after the best night for a very long time. Madam went down after 45mins screaming at 10, woke in her cot at 2.30, then feed and down again 3-5 then into bed with us until 7.30! Excellent!

We went for a lovely lunch with DH and my parents, mini-Yo threw a cup of thankfully tepid tea over me and ate a load of my pea and mint soup along with her cucumber and mango and I had a massive ice-cream sundae! Lush! I think we'll be hitting the purees tomorrow after soupgate I'm ignoring the probable massive salt content !

The little lady has been in the jumperoo for over an hour now while I've been singing to her, it's like a third parent.....is this terrible???

How's everyone's Friday night? We were planning for Fish&Chip Friday but DH has been on the phone for 90mins with Sky doing battle to get the cost down when he came across a really rude guy so is now in full on complaints mode! Dinner is on hold until battle is done....by whih time the bedtime of wonder will take over.

Anypants · 16/08/2013 21:51

Indian takeaway night here - we walked to the pub this afternoon and DD kept trying to grab mine and DH's pints with both hands and put it to her lips. Going to have to give her a cup of her own tomorrow as she keeps doing the same thing with my coffee in the morning and I don't think she needs the caffeine.

LaLaLeni · 17/08/2013 11:16

Gosh it's hard to keep up with no internet!

Been struggling with flatpack furniture here. DS not letting anyone get any sleep so muddling through with a very fuzzy brain.

Second sofa is about to show up - hoping this one makes it upstairs!

DS has suddenly started smelling like syrup?! And keeps doing a funny wiggly dance when he eats during the night - he wiggles his hips from side to side. He is a strange bean. He did a poo so huge it soaked right through the nappy earlier. That's another first.

Baby clinic was awful, we waited an hour and a half with a waiting room full of kids - one lady had 7 with her, including one wearing a woolly hat and strapped to her back in a fleece in 25 degree muggy heat Confused

Worse - glad you're on the road to recovery, seems like an obvious thing they should have checked to save you all that pain Shock

Right, sofa's here, wish me luck!

pudtat · 17/08/2013 11:20

You still taking fenugreek Leni? Makes you and them smell like maple syrup.

pudtat · 17/08/2013 11:20

StormyBrid · 17/08/2013 13:14

I've seen double posts before, but triple posting is a new one. We'll done pud. Wink

Got my fingers crossed that sofa fits!

We've had two days of delightful baby. That was a far shorter fussy phase than I was expecting.

OP posts:
pudtat · 17/08/2013 14:05

Blush No idea what happened there. Mobile app has a mind of its own...

LaLaLeni · 17/08/2013 14:59

Haha, no, weirdly I'm not but when I was, I didn't smell of it at all! Not BFing anymore, supply just died out. It's just the baby that smells funny, strange.

Sofa is in! Feels weird, I got used to grubbing around on the floor like a squatter.

pudtat · 17/08/2013 17:17

Hurray for sofas!

SoYo · 17/08/2013 18:09

Leni this might seem like a very strange comment but does his ear wax smell of it too? If so it's probably worth popping to the GP for a urine test. This is completely left field but there's a very rare infant disorder that causes sweet smelling urine & it's massively unlikely but definitely worth ruling out just to be safe. I am full of very random information and very paranoid though so probably just crazy!

KFFOREVER · 17/08/2013 21:18

leni instead of going to the horribly busy gp clinics to get DS weighed why dont you go to the local childrens centre. I did this and was in and out in 10mins. Much quicker and less queues. Welcome to the south of the river.

worsestershiresauce · 17/08/2013 22:35

Leni another strange question - have you changed your hand cream? DD kept freaking people out by smelling of chocolate, until we sussed that the cocoa butter hand cream I use transfers when I stroke her hair.

Am having the best time ever this weekend, courtesy of the fact that for the first time in what feels like forever I don't feel ill!!! I've been a right miserable depressive recently, which is weird as frankly I have nothing to be depressed about, but turns out it was nowt worse than a mild case of internal poisoning. Excellent stuff. Good to be back so to speak.

Hope you've all had fun days. I played hooky and escaped into town to buy some clothes. Well bras really. There comes a point where you have to ditch the greying old rags that have faithfully followed you through bf-ing and beyond, and get something pretty. As boobs like the rest of me are not what they were before. Now, thanks to the MN bra intervention threads I now have stuff that fits. Woohoo. First time for everything.

Not much news on the worselet front today, unless you are interested in the fact she just did the most disgusting nappy ever seen by human eyes. Ever. Nope, thought you wouldn't be. She did eat some puree though, which is progress. That's proper eat, not just taste and spit. Tomorrow we try peach. It's taken me a whole week to ripen the damn things so I'm on tenterhooks as to her reaction.

Stormy I tried watching some Harry Potter, but the acting killed me by the third minute. You have to hand it to the 3 main characters... they made an awful lot of money out of very little talent.

Pud Aloe vera for the sun burn. Works a treat.

somethingbeginningwith · 18/08/2013 00:37

Well, tomorrow's the day I set sail for Edinburgh and leave DS at home for a whole week. I'm not ashamed to admit that I have spent a good deal of time crying about it. I'm not worried about him, I know he's going to be so well looked after and it'll actually be nice for OH to spend some time with him like I do but...it'll be like leaving my right arm at home, won't it? Sad

LaLaLeni · 18/08/2013 07:21

Soyo, I shall endeavour to smell his ear wax today! KF, we don't really do weighing, he just needed his jabs. Whereabouts are you? It's my first time South Of The River Shock Worse no hand cream here, I'm crap at things like that, I barely ever moisturise and have no 'skincare routine' as other people seem to!

The horrible spots I had under my boobs before I was pregnancy have returned with a vengeance. Really sore. Also having AF, nicely timed for attempting to trek to a baby shower in some studio in Hackney in the rain with DS later, then come home for cooking lamb for guests.

DS met a baby girl 2 weeks older than him yesterday, our friends brought her over and upon opening the door, she did a huge grin and mr fusspants burst into tears. Such a polite host! They were really funny playing together though, grabbing each other's hands and faces. DS is huge compared to her though, not fat, just tall and solid. When I picked her up I almost threw her she was so light.

LaLaLeni · 18/08/2013 07:22

Something - but just think of all the sleep! Wink

StormyBrid · 18/08/2013 09:37

Something - you'll miss him, yes, but try not to dwell onissing him. It's an awesome opportunity for a week of adult company and not having to deal with any bodily waste except your own. Make the most of it!

Those of you with girls, how do you do dresses on them? I'be this vague worry she'll have cold legs...

OP posts:
ecofreckle · 18/08/2013 10:23

stormy we do dresses sometimes, just because we've been given loads. We tend to do them with leggings (loose-ish jersey trouser things) because tights look really silly on a baby who spends most of their time on their back with their legs in the air (espcially with massive cloth nappy!). If it's warm or she's in the car then the matchy matchy cloth over pants things have been known to come out mostly to appease the grandparents who gave them to us
Mega nap going on here but have just said goodbye to one lot of visitors and about to prepare for next batch....sister/niece next and then MIL....so better dash and do something.

Happy Sunday. And hurrah for the start if the football season.

Not really.

SoYo · 18/08/2013 10:37

Something it'll be tough being apart but I'd much rather be teaching my DD that although being a mum is the most important thing I've ever done its not the only thing & I'm a success in my own right & there's other important things in life! It's something you've worked hard for & deserve to see through. Your LO will be fine now & impressed when older! Plus think of the sleep!!!

I'm about to drive 75 miles just for a roast dinner! The parents better make sure those yorkies are excellent!

Anypants · 18/08/2013 11:07

something Just think how happy you'll be to see him and you get to experience the 'hasn't he changed in just a week' phenomenon. And in this modern age, you just have to skype or send a video message to see him. Almost as good as the real thing.

stormy when DD is in a dress, she's normally warm enough indoors and if we go out, I shove some cute booties on her and make sure i've got a blanket, just in case. The weather's been so cr*ppy the last few days though that the babygros have been back in use...

WingDefence · 18/08/2013 14:56

Argh I lost you for so long! Marking place then will read back to catch up Cake

ecofreckle · 18/08/2013 15:03

wingd hello

I am just about to do the same thing: have a big catch up with all of the news...

ecofreckle · 18/08/2013 15:23

worse so very pleased that your wassname exploration made an exciting, if somewhat late in the day, discovery. SIL had a retained placenta which was got rid of after a couple of weeks by D and C (I think?.Soyo will tell me if that?s not what it was likely to be) and those 2 weeks were pretty horrid for her, so it sounds like you have been a soldier. The new streamlined Worse now has go faster stripes. God help Kent and your DH!
worse would you be kind enough to shed the light on the wisdom of the MN bar forums please? A précis for us? Despite getting fitted in M and S, returning there to say ?really? Does this really fit?? by boobs feel about as adequately supported as Putin?s recent policy changes. And, where did you head for the new ones? I tried John Lewis but they only had grey saggy horrors about a month ago for which the sales lady was very apologetic. Oh, and how was the peach? We did melon today. I discovered that a melon chip is easy to gum in half in one swift chomp, leaving a perilously sized choke fest wandering around in DD?s mouth. I just this second clicked on the froggy link you shared. We had been given one of these and it?s languishing at the bottom of the toy box. I am going to go and dig it out and try it on DD when she wakes. Thank you for tip!
something aren?t things coming around fast? It seems only a few days since we were encouraging you to go to Edinburgh. I hope that you have a fantastic time up there and that the absence only serves to make your heart grow fonder for a very happy reunion at the end of the week.
soyo so? Tell us! I?m living my Sunday roast fantasy through you today --we have burritos?so spill the beans. Was it worth the journey? I?m guessing so. Nice food + nice company = happy Sunday. Oh, and, Jumperoos as third parents? That?s fine in my book. Our space blanket is ours and she?s very cheap and reliable.

leni spots, sofas, baby showers, lamb! Gosh, it?s all going on for you. DH is from Sarf of river and tells me there?s all sorts of adventures to be had. Have you discovered any nice things to do with DS around your new locality?

So stormy are you through what is called the week 26 wonder week do you think? Just reading about that now as DD is 22 weeks (but three late) so could be any day.
any how did you get on with the cup? When we eat and the time isn?t right for DD for one reason and another we give her the doidy cup and spoons to play with in her high chair. She has the doidy action well sussed now but still not brave enough to put water in it whilst indoors!
pud what happened with your HR chat? Get anywhere? I?ve been working a little this week and it?s a strange world when butted right up against the baby world. Not bad, just odd. I?ll get used to it!
Right I?m off to fish out froggy and grab DD ready to bundle her in the new jalopy Phil and Teds so we can walk and meet Daddy after the football has finished. Happy afternoons to you all.

worsestershiresauce · 18/08/2013 16:14

A quick one for Eco, the bra gurus of MN follow the measuring guide according to the following links - the first shows how to measure, the second how to adjust for different boob shapes.

thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.co.uk/p/fitting-advice.html
www.reddit.com/r/ABraThatFits/wiki/shallow

There are loads of threads on MN about this, anything with 'bra intervention' in the title will find you all the experts.

Worked for me anyway. I'm a 30 back. Who knew. I've spent my entire adult life in a 34, and most of that hoiking the front down every time it rode up.

Happy shopping! I'm afraid I didn't go anywhere more glamorous than M&S, largely because I don't think there is anywhere more glamorous than M&S locally. VJ will probably put me right on that though.
