I have a baby walker. Bought a very cheap one in Asda during my trip as e needed a thing for LO to sit in. DD1 had one too but broke it in the end.

They are illegal in Belgium and Canada I think due to safety issues. However common sense should avoid any risks ie, nowhere near steps, and watch out for things on surfaces above them - they go for things like coats hanging in chairs (risk of pulling chair onto them) phone chargers with the wire hanging down from the window sill etc.

DD1 just to speed across our tiles and crash into the wall, laughing, by about 12 months she was in full control mainly so tested how far she could push the speed barrier :o

LO is loving the independence of it. She has mastered going round corners, through gaps, backwards and forwards in just a couple of weeks. She's not running round in it yet though. I popped a pic on FB last week.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/07/2013 10:00

A quick google however found this very negative article. I guess like everything it is weighing up the pros and cons. Under supervision I choose to use them.

Lily311 · 02/07/2013 10:07

Baby walkers are bad for hips. However the specialist recommended the jumperoo and baby bjorn for O as it helps her hip to stay in the right position. I'm not getting one though, no no no.

I had a personal trainer session this morning and O was good with the babysitter. Finally. I joined sw online too as I have a stone to lose and getting desperate now. A stone and a half and I would be thinner than ever. det, izzy what do you have for breakfast? I'm stuck on ideas. I like porridge with milk but than I can't have cheese later. Also best tried recipes? I did bean casserole and it was yummy. Personal trainer is dead cheap here, so is the babysitter.

O slept through, she is getting really good at it. As for clothes I bought a bundle on eBay for £9. It had 40 items (6-12m), most are gap, next, and sainsburys. I got another bundle of 27 items for £17 for the 12-18 month stage, really nice ones. Can highly recommend bundles, they only wear them for a couple of months. As for toys, charity shops, forums and gum tree is your friend. I use book people for books, O has an impressive collection already. I'm frugal as you can see.

How can I get rid of milk residue on bottles? I use mam ones, it has 6 parts and I don't have a dishwasher. I soaked them, scrubbed them but still can't get rid of.

ValiumQueen · 02/07/2013 10:13

I was given a hideous pink walker by my SIL for DD1. Sadly I managed to lose it before DD2 arrived Wink I do not like them and DD did not like it. The Jumperoo and DJ booth are fabulous though. I recall being very upset by the safety reviews at the time.

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 10:14

Magic eraser lily?! Grin It gets shit off everything! Don't think you can use it on bottles unfortunately though!

Milton? Soak them in milton for a few hours perhaps?

Breakfasts here are usually cooked for now, feck knows what I will do when I go back to work! I often have either:

Boiled eggs and soldiers Grin using 2 slices of 400g wholemeal as a healthy extra.

Bacon, cheese and fried egg toastie. I do the bacon and cheese on toast, and dip it in to the fried eggs!

Quorn fat free sausages, grilled mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, fried eggs, extra lean bacon with no fat, soft or hard boiled eggs, hi fi bars or alpen light bars and fruit. Combination of those things usually forms breakfast here. DP sometimes has poached eggs and tinned spaghetti. But I don't like that. :)

This morning as I have no fecking oven or grill, it was 2 hi fi light bars and a pear.

I'm going to hard boil some eggs in a minute as I am still peckish.

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 10:17

Oh, with porridge you can do it with water? Or if you use Alpro Almond milk you can have 950ml for your HEA as opposed to just 250ml of semi skimmed! But, it is only 1/2 a syn per 100ml, so you could still have your porridge and only use a tiny bit from your syns. :)

Lily311 · 02/07/2013 10:18

Wtf is magic eraser? I read your post yest but haven't googled yet.

Milton might be a good idea. I have an electric oven and the grill takes ages so not sure about that. Toast and eggs are good.

Lily311 · 02/07/2013 10:19

I don't like porridge with water :(. Or any other kind of milk.

ValiumQueen · 02/07/2013 10:20

Lily if you have soaked and scrubbed then is it stains? My Tommee Tippee ones stain badly but they are clean and safe. Not long and bottles will be behind us anyway. Do you have local FB selling pages? They can be good too.

Sold 11 pairs of shoes last night. For £43 so not exactly good money, but to one buyer so less faffing. To list 11 pairs on eBay I would probably not ended up with much more though.

Have our babies all got shoes yet? What size are they? DS is a 4 already. Boat feet. DD2 was 2 before her feet were a 4.

ValiumQueen · 02/07/2013 10:23

Porridge with water is rank. I prefer if with Nutrimigen which is saying something.

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 10:25

O would be a 3 I think VQ. DP's sister gave us a pair of converse, and I tried them on him for size, they fit with not much room! I don't plan to get shoes until he is walking. Which I don't think will be long really.... Hmm

Magic eraser :) I got 10 for £5 or so, cheaper than this version. Work just as well!

I have an electric oven too. I find the grill heats up pretty quick? Takes about 15 minutes for mushrooms (portabello ones) and tomatoes to grill.

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 10:26

I did it with hazelnut milk and a little sweetner, it was fine without the sweetner though, but I wanted a sugar hit hah!

Kyzordz · 02/07/2013 10:28

Morning all! God I need a coffee this morning, really need to stop going to bed late! E had a good night in the end, got up at 7:45. For the past two mornings he hasn't really been bothered about his bottle, he drinks half then takes the rest eventually in dribs and drabs, weird!

Good stuff re the bottle izzy he is definitely getting there it seems!

9.5 hours chasing, excellent!

Oh vq sorry you had such a shitty night, hope the doctors give you many a lovely drug to help you and poor j

Glad you managed some sleep madame, though 5am is an unthinkable morning time :( also, that's good re dh I think, I know he is still needing lists but perhaps when he is doing things more regularly he will know what to do without the lists?

stunt don't be too cross with yourself, it was an accident and you didn't mean him any harm, hope he's alright soon enough

evil hopefully talking to p more will help but I think your friend and the other worker person were probably just trying to let you know help is there if you need it?

E has a baby walker and a door bouncer Blush he is never in either for more than 45 mins and although he had a phase of the door bouncer being a daily thing he goes in it much less frequently now and has been in the walker once in a blue moon as he is more interested in trying to crawl ATM

Glad you had a good night in the end fatima :)

Another shitty night detective not fair :( sounds like dp is doing pretty well still ATM though ESP if you ignore the oven breaking lol!

I'm ignoring the weight loss talk and repeating to myself that I am happy with my awful body, oh yes.

Shoes... He just has soft ones that are sized like clothes are. Can he have proper ones now? He wears 18-24 month shoes, he has massively big feet.

Weigh in today. Hope he's gained a tiny bit just so I don't feel bad for taking that df away!

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 10:45

Yes kyz I am choosing to ignore the oven incident!!! He's slipping in to bad habits again, but generally, I am not having to nag for the simple things like hoovering, washing dishes, clothes washing. He's done a couple of the jobs I've been waiting years for him to do Hmm. Even if he makes a hash of them!

Currently watching O crawl around the room. In his grobag. Who said they restricted them again?! Can someone tell O please!!!

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 10:50

And now he is riffling in my handbag.

He clearly hasn't learned never go in a ladies handbag!! Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 02/07/2013 11:14

I have done it. I applied for a loan and now I am a shakes mess on the floor.

Only thing, I did it online and got to the end it told you to submit without allowing you to check what you had out in. I have had no confirmation e mail so am worried I have put the wrong email address in in my wobbly messiness. Ahhhhhh.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/07/2013 11:32

Is it sweary Wednesday yet? Fuck and badgerballs. Crap and big dangly bull bollocks. I'm not in a good mood.

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 12:09

I understand that feeling Sophia it is horrible when you absolutely need that money and NOW!

They will write to you anyway even if the address is wrong. I don't ever remember getting a confirmation email though when applying online.

PR arse buggering bollocks indeed. Saw FB. I hope she can refer you on to someone else.

I'm still giggling at O from earlier. I was watching him with the corner of my eye while browsing a book. I heard a funny smacking noise. O was sucking away on the corner of the hearth FFS! Proper suckling too! His teeth must really be giving him the run around! He must like how cold it is! He does keep lying there with his cheek on it too!

DP is in the bad books! I bought a birthday present for him from Amazon. He knew he was getting it. He knew it was for his birthday. So why the fuck does he think he can open it and use it before his effing birthday, which is over 2 weeks away. That ANNOYS the fuck out of me. Ask for something, so I get it. Then open MY post, and use it before hand. No! You ask, and I will say no haha! Presents are given on birthdays, not before! Wink Sorry. Petty rant. But a massive bug bear of mine Grin. I'm really annoyed! I clearly need to get out more!

PetiteRaleuse · 02/07/2013 12:37

I'd be angry about that too Detective

How old is he? I haven't tried to do something like that since early primary school.

Can't decide whether my cold is hay fever or a cold. It definitely gets worse when I go outside.

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 12:48

They were a pair of wireless headphones for his fucking laptop so I don't have to see yet another wire trailing all over my living room. I came down to find him sat there, headphones on. I must be hormonal as I just saw rage Confused.

They are back in the box and away now!!! Might send them back Grin.

Oscar is rocking the one leg out the babygrow look today. Asda babygrows always give me this problem! His leg just comes out of them as there seems to be a design flaw in them! I've give up putting it back in. It hasn't hindered his adventures today though Hmm.

I just gave O some egg for lunch. It was messy. The dog joined in. O has been licked clean .

Also, O finds trouble wherever he goes. I took him in the kitchen while preparing the egg. He crawled straight over to the iron - which is on top of a side. But the wire hangs down the side between the wall. His hand was right in there digging it out. FFS. Nothing is safe. NOTHING. I didn't think (given the oven is gone!) there were any hazards in there at present! Nothing on the floor, nothing in reach. Low cupbaords don't house anything dangerous.

Should have known. Next time I'll just have to put him in the baby jail and leave him to cry grrr!

ValiumQueen · 02/07/2013 12:54

He will get used to the baby jail.

I now have antidepressants.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 02/07/2013 12:58

((((((((((((vq )))))))))))))))

TheDetective · 02/07/2013 13:01

Okay, now I know I'm definitely hormonal today. Next door got a new car a couple of months back. It's alarm keeps going off randomly. Well, it isn't that random actually. It is near enough every time a HGV rumbles past. Which living on a main road, is ALL THE FRICKIN' TIME. Last night I was feeling very pissed off about it as I lay there trying to sleep, it has gone off 3 nights on the run (more than once). Now I am sat here thinking I should go around and ask them what they plan to do about it. It's fairly noisy. But not just that, when it goes off, we rush out of bed in case it is DP's as it is next to her car. But then what would going round to speak to them achieve? Other than get my own back for them complaining about our bathroom extractor fan FFS!

Another petty rant! A girl I used to work with posts status' about her pram for her unborn on the book of faces. She has posted a few times, and people ask her what she has got. She says 'I'm not telling'. I know she has the same pram as me Hmm because I asked her privately as I thought it might be, and wanted to warn her before she bought about a massive safety problem with them (they collapse as the front wheel buckles and snaps). Anyway, she is now 38 weeks, and has posted today how the pram is up and ready and how much she loves it. Fair enough. Except someone posted 'put a pic up'. She replies 'no pics please, not til baby is here'.

WTF?! Is there a pushchair paparazzi these days?! Can one get millions of pounds for the first picture of their baby in a pram?! I know it's bitchy, but c'mon. Get a grip!

Anyway, enough hormones for today... Confused

I clearly need chocolate. What is WRONG with me!!!

PetiteRaleuse · 02/07/2013 13:04

vq I really hope they help. You need a break.

NEWSFLASH

I have not mentioned DD1's bed to her this week. In fact probably for several weeks. She just annouced she was going for a sleep, got undressed and went and lay down in her own bed. I'm not sure if she will go to sleep there, but she's there. Right now. In her own bed.

Had to remove LO as she was overexcited at having someone in 'her' room so the sooner we move her into the spare room the better.
