Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

bugsy id love to give him brocolli and stuff are you mushing it or leaving it as is so she can sort of suck it? If so have you had any chocking issues Grin im shit scared of choking but id love to give him chunks of stuff!!

Lora1982 · 27/06/2013 22:50

After reading about your scones I let him have a crumb... because im tight and I earned the scone for myself. Its getting quite weird, if I come out the kitchen I'll have the cat and dog staring and waiting for left overs aswell as dexter getting all excited and smiley thinking he'll get some too. I might have to start eating my food under the stairs.

mrsbugsywugsy · 28/06/2013 01:31

I'm just giving dd chunks of foof and letting her feed herself; I cooked the broccoli for slightly longer than I would for myself as she doesn't have teeth yet Grin.

I've also given her toast soldiers, carrot sticks, banana, and nectarine slices.

she hasn't choked yet; apparently so long as your baby is sat upright and feeds itself then they won't choke, but I have watched a couple of first aid videos on YouTube just in case.

mrsbugsywugsy · 28/06/2013 01:32

foof? food. gotta love autocorrect sometimes Grin

glorious · 28/06/2013 05:31

Poor you apples . I hope DD1 is better behaved today Sad

Laughing at feeding the baby foof Grin Grin

Or having to eat under the stairs!

Angielka · 28/06/2013 09:30

Oh apples I know how you feel. DD1 has started hitting for attention, so we're doing naughty step until she apologises, but she's not even 3 yet... I find myself getting so frustrated and know she knows exactly how to wind me up. Maybe it's a girl/mum thing. I know how to wind up my mum afterall...

We had more work with DD1 than with Molly - luck of the draw. I bet those of you with one will get all broody again in a few months/years though Grin. DH has always wanted 3, but I find myself thinking I'm happy with 2. His family was all 'the third will be a boy' as if we couldn't possibly be complete without at least one of each. I don't know though - how you cope with 4 is beyond me apples!

lollipoppi · 28/06/2013 09:55

Creepy just reading how many sit ups you do before breakfast hurts my stomach even just thinking about it!
I need to get back into some sport, before DCs I trampolined professionally and represented at international level, after DS1 I went back to national level, I'm too scared to go back again not sure my pelvic floor is strong enough Shock

I cut out the dream feed last night and DD slept 7pm - 8.30am!!! Shit myself this morning and had to keep checking she was ok!
Same cant be said for DS1 who was up 4 times trying to get in my bed!

CreepyCrawly · 28/06/2013 10:39

I did 120 this morning Wink 60 before breakfast, and 60 after. Doing them in sets of 15 makes it easier.

Wow what a sleep! It's seems to be quite common when one sleeps, the other doesn't.

I heard Nancy raspberry-ing at 5:30 this morning. I looked over to her cot and her feet were up in the air, but in the wrong part of the cot. She'd managed to turn herself almost upside down. She looked very pleased with herself.

Grin at foof and eating under the stairs!

Lora1982 · 28/06/2013 12:26

I gave him toast and watched like a hawk for choking from the remains I pieced together I dont think any made its way to his stomach. And as if to prove your theory of not choking if they feed themselves he coughed and spluttered when I gave a spoonful of weetabix :-D

Certainly no sit ups go on over here perhaps they should

Birdies · 28/06/2013 12:40

I'm at the end of my tether with the lack of sleep. X sleeps nearly 11 hours now that she goes to bed early (7-6am) but I'm feeding her every 1-2 hours all bloody night. I think I might be more tired than in the early days :(

I'm also still swaddling as whenever I try without she wakes herself up with her hands.

Help!!!!

Meringue33 · 28/06/2013 13:21

LO cried for six straight minutes while I finished up at the beauty salon - feeling so guilty! Someone please tell me I'm not an ogre? God I really can't stand him cry :(

Meringue33 · 28/06/2013 13:22

Sorry sleep is still tough Birdies, don't know how you are coping. Are you co-sleeping? Sending you big (((((hugs))))) in the absence of anything more practical xx

Birdies · 28/06/2013 13:44

Thanks meringue.
6 minutes isn't too bad! Though I'm the same, I get so stressed when she cries, I can't bear her being her being unhappy. Hmm maybe that's the cause of the sleep problems!

Right, am I mad for contemplating paying for a sleep consultant? DH thinks I am!

glorious · 28/06/2013 14:21

birdies I'm in a similar position as E goes 8-6 with goodness knows how many awakenings (less than hourly after 2, more like 2 hourly before). I've instituted a master sleep plan, mostly to make myself feel better by doing something rather than because I think it'll work. I got the ideas from The no cry sleep solution, have you read it?

I'm definitely not a serious sleep training person, these are nice gentle things. I think sleep consultants tend to be on the stricter end of the scale which may not be what you want if you don't like crying. Or you may decide it's worth it.

But I know she can do 6 hours and then 3 so I'm mainly hoping once the teeth calm down she'll remember how. Probably wishful thinking.

AppleCrumples · 28/06/2013 14:29

Thanks angie sometimes i just need to breathe and remember its a successful day as long as we all make it through! Last night was better. You are right it seems to be a girl thing neither of the boys have done this and obviously both had to deal with new babies

birdies poor you, the lack.of sleep just makea everything harder doesn't? Tbh if you can afford it i would pay to get sleep sorted if nothing else worked. So no you're not mad!

creepy that made me laugh! Ivy does that and looks so pleasd with herself for getting about.

Trying to gethouse under control after my dm announced she was coming uo on sunday with visiting relatives. our house is rented and not in great shape so i hate having people over nevermind the anxiety i'm sure it will be fine but i could have done without it especially after a long week chasing after everyone else!

BuntyCollocks · 28/06/2013 15:48

birdies maybe try a pekemoe? I saw them recommended on old threads on here for babies that like to be swaddled.

Have an exciting weekend planned. The rug is coming up and the rubber mats going down so I don't shit myself every time she takes a headdive to catch a toy. Also easier to clean than the rug 😜

Clothes getting put up in the garage, and others coming down. A bit of a tidy, really. Things are lying about and driving me mental.

Dd is sitting munching on a bonne maman galette biscuit, and has just had two filled tortellini pieces. She devoured toast for brekkie, and it's chilli for tea. She's proving to be an excellent eater. Hasn't dropped any feeds, though!

Had a shit night sleep last night. DS was up at 12:30 (but wanted mummy which was lovely in a sleep deprived way), then dd was up at 1:15, didn't settle until 2:30, and was up for the day at 5. She got handed to her father, who had decamped to the spare room when I brought her into our bed at 2:30, at 6 with a growled "I need some sleep to look after two children tomorrow".

Fingers crossed for a better night for everyone tonight!

We're going to a work thing tonight. My office had been up here for 3 years, so we're celebrating!

I bet the DC will kick off. It starts at
6:30 and they're normally in bed by 7:30 :/

mrsbugsywugsy · 28/06/2013 16:11

we had a bad night too, dd wouldn't settle after waking at 1am...at 3 we gave up trying to get her in her cot so dp went to the spare room and dd came into bed with me. it was really humid here, wonder if that's why we're all having bad nights?

I'm interested in the pekemoe idea, since dd used to love being swaddled.

AppleCrumples · 28/06/2013 16:57

Oh no :( at all the rubbish nights! mrsbugsy all mine have been harder to settle at night when its humid.

We have the opposite problem here. She will settle and generally up once or twice but just won't give up during the day! It was ok when she was in the carrycot but she likes to be able to stretch out or have a boob in her mouth! Set up travel cot in boys room and going to try that tomorrow. I know am lucky but shes so tired and cranky by now that its impossible to deal with everyone else.

Little monkey blowing raspberrys at me whilst i try to rock her to sleep!

Odd question: anyone elses little one got lopsided hair? Ivy only seems to lie on one side so one side has hair growing in whilst the other is quite sparse?!

Pascha · 28/06/2013 17:16

Those PekeMoe's look cute. DS wouldn't be interested though, his preferred sleeping position is starfish and hands gripping the bars Smile

Off to sing row row row your boat for the 58th time. We're doing crocodile, lion and polar bear. Any other verses I've missed?

CreepyCrawly · 28/06/2013 17:38

cericlark.com/index.php/singing-row-row-row-your-boat-different-verses-i-could-find/1651 quite a few it would seem Pascha! I didn't know there were any ones other than the crocodile one until rhyme time on Thursday!

Nancy sleeps in the same position as your Dan, arms outstretched. She doesn't hold the bars though, that sounds so cute!

Sorry to hear there are still sleepless nights :(

Pascha · 28/06/2013 18:09

There's millions! Who knew?

Meringue33 · 28/06/2013 20:32

God next door having horrible teenage party. Worst kind of loud dance music and screaming in the garden :(

Lora1982 · 28/06/2013 20:46

If you see a telephone?! What would a telephone be doing next to the waterfall?

Lora1982 · 28/06/2013 20:47

P.s. made a shortcut to that link on my phone for when needs must.

Pascha · 28/06/2013 21:16

So have I.
