Thought I'd take the liberty of starting a new thread since the last one filled. So mark your places, get comfy and prepare for a few sleepless nights!

In particular we think of Empress and little Sam - hoping and praying he's coming home! :)

That pushchair looks nice!

I got this for our holiday in September

chicco snappy

Got it for £26 off eBay apparently used but it looks brand new!

Dysgu · 30/05/2013 09:54

I like that Zeta buggy although we don't need another buggy. I use a sling more than either of our buggies/pram. I use the travel system sometimes if we take Evan out in the car - although I have been known to take the buggy to carry stuff and put Evan in a sling - very useful for days out with the DDs. I use the pram twice a week for the school run - it carries all of the DDs' stuff on the 2 days they get to scoot to school. I will also wear Evan around the house if he is grouchy or needs to sleep but won't be put down.

Re baby poo vs diarrhoea: Younger breastfed babies often have very soft yellowy stools. That?s perfectly normal. If, however, the stool is watery, mucus-streaked, unusually smelly and more frequent than normal then it is diarrhoea. Evan's formula creates very yellow, watery poo all the time - his recent tummy bug was different as he also had a fever so HV figured probably diarrhoea. Still, when they are this young, apart from extra cuddles (and Calpol if necessary) the only thing we had to check was that he was still taking enough milk in to avoid dehydration.

We have already had today's poo - I have just put all his clothes in the wash....

Trishstar · 30/05/2013 10:02

Nicky all of H's clothes in the wash at 5am!

I don't think it was diarrhoea now just a massive poo backlog from yesterday as he is otherwise perfectly fine!

I'm dreading a poo explosion when out and about!! Confused

usernamegoeshere · 30/05/2013 12:38

Haha trish every poo is an explosion for us, best was about 3 days old had one on a visitor!

Baby user fed and stayed up for 2 hours seeming quite happy, puked all the gripe water but been farting ever since so hope some stayed. She has gone sleep now, who posted the EASY sleep cues stuff? I just put her down from remembering those cues, with no tears asleep almost instantly, so thanks!

Fingers crossed rest of day goes so well! Have drawn up my gripe water ready for next feed...

LikeCandy · 30/05/2013 12:57

trish the majority of BabyCandys are noisy/squishy and we've had a good few go up her back!

edin biological nurturing positions don't work for us - because (despite having copious amounts of milk) I still have small boobs she isn't the right size to sit and feed, I don't have any boob to move closer to her, she'd have to stoop!!

We're still in vest and sleepsuit combo most of the time too. Sunday when it was really hot she went vestless for a trip to the local shop in a sling. Our house seems to be a steady 18deg at night so she's vest, suit + 2 blankets or 2.5tog bag.

Well we saw the BF counsellor this morning and are not waiting for an emergency GP appointment!
The vomiting is apparently the most she's seen in 10yrs (I fed her for 20mins, she threw up during, after and after a change 5mins later - that was the worst I've seen it too) apparently I have crazy letdown and an oversupply of milk, so although her latch is perfect she still takes in lots of air as she had to gulp to keep up with it. I have to burp her before, during, after a feed, and try expressing the foremilk for 2mins before she eats.
There's nothing more she can do/suggest so am seeing GP for baby gaviscon and to get the ball rolling to investigate reflux (as she also brings up old milk).
The hope is that she will grow out of it as she gets bigger and more efficient at feeding.
She was weighed and is still gaining well (15oz in 13days) and on the same percentile.
Bit cross that the HV didn't advise me to see someone sooner - they've know about it for weeks but said as she is gaining weight well and having plenty of wet/dirty nappies the sick wasn't an issue. This reassured me, I should have trusted my instincts
bad mother feeling guilty

angeltattoo · 30/05/2013 14:12

Last night was craz, after mot sleeping all day again, babyangel went to sleep from 5-11pm! I was then up with her until 3am and back up at 5am Sad zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just had 6 week check, baby being referred to physio as her feet turn in like her Daddy's, otherwise everything was fine.

She wears a vest and sleepsuit each day and night, and went into a sleeping bag last night for the first time.

edin have been doing biological nurturing on your suggestion, THANK YOU it is amazing!!!

trish all of babyangel's poos are like that; we call it sharting, a cross between a sh*t and a fart Wink

photochick · 30/05/2013 14:25

all this poo talk! never knew babies could make so much mess!I have been weed on 4 times this morning and sicked on once!

Anyone else got a tommee tippee perfect prep machine. If you are on formula it's brilliant - no more kettle boiling, cooling / heating bottles!

like its good you have seen somebody, I hope it helps.

vests and babygros for us too. blankets at night, though keen to try grobags. MW told us you put them in the same as you are wearing plus one layer.

HadALittleFaithBaby · 30/05/2013 15:38

Speaking of poo, Faithlet usually goes every 5 days but we had two Sunday, two Monday and two today! We're on our third outfit of the day.

I'm persisting with gripe water before feeds and gaviscon after when she's awake enough. Basically she's much better. More gas (feels like she's clearing out!) but less stinky and much less vomit. She's also sleeping better. I put her in the bouncy chair earlier and she self-settled for the first time! She also went back into her Moses basket after her 5am feed. Definitely a two steps forward day :)

Poor baby username! Well at least you have some answers as to why its been so tough and some advice on how to manage it. You're right about instincts though. I gues you learn to push for help sooner with experience.

I'm going to look at the grow bags we've got to see if any are small enough for her! Might help her settle too. Never thought of that before so thanks for the suggestion!

I feel relieved that Hunter isn't the only exploding pooping machine!!

His new thing now tho is posetting after pretty much every feed, any one else getting this? Doesn't seem to bother him. Just strange he never used to do it much. He's been on 6oz feeds for 8 days so its not like he's just changed xx

Trishstar · 30/05/2013 15:42

Photo I've got the perfect prep! Love it! But mine is leaking so gotta send it back to TT Confused

usernamegoeshere · 30/05/2013 16:10

faith I think you meant likecandy with the pukey baby, mine only vomits gripe water.

I'm using gripe water in middle of each feed, before our usual burping break, only 3 feeds so far but she is more burpy. Not given gaviscon yet, figure I will get in gripe water routein then add it.

She has been alright today so far, been doing feed, cuddles/play then down for nap. Some tears but not like yesterday so far.

likecandy I hope doctor is helpful.

Not tried our sleeping bag yet, only got a primark one, still using and loving our swaddle but she is starting to outgrow it unfortunately. Might try find a bigger one, we use blankets as well but I worry about her overheating in them.

HadALittleFaithBaby · 30/05/2013 17:20

sorry candy/username!

Thanks for the suoport people, saw GP, BabyCandy has got reflux. But the Doctors preference is not to treat with medication as baby doesn't appear to be in pain, sleeping well and gaining weight etc etc!
She was a locum and suggested seeing our usual GP if at any point her weight stops improving or of the frequent feeding gets too much!

trish reflux starts commonly at 6-8w (this is when BabyCandy started) I hope that's not starting with Hunter?

Trishstar · 30/05/2013 18:18

Hope we've got past it candy! But I will be vigilant!

Jo1984uk · 30/05/2013 18:23

After briefly reading about the biological nursing position I did give it a go but found Sofia's nose was being pushed into the boob so she couldn't breathe Confused in all fairness it was probably me getting ahead of myself before doing enough research..

Angel, Sofia's feet also turn in but she has positional talipes (sp?) apparently so as she is able to put her feet in the correct position. we have been given exercises to do with her feet. It's because she has such long legs (unlike mummy at 5'2) so she had to turn her feet inwards in the womb bless her.

I also am hoping to try Sofia in her growbag, talked to someone in John Lewis about it the other day and they said to wait til she's out of the Moses basket?!

Talking of Moses baskets Sofia is nearly to the top of hers.. Was having a look in kiddicare the other day at the cots, however she's in a rocking Moses basket at the mo and I'm kind of dreading not being able to rock her to sleep!! Have become kind of reliant on it, especially now the dream sheep batteries have ran out and I havnt got round to changing them yet!!

And Sofia had mastered poo explosions, especially when she's in a new outfit Smile

JaquelineHyde · 30/05/2013 18:52

Hello everyone

Long time no speak/type, I have been so, so busy with the 4 DC.

So Hugo is 4 weeks old now and thriving beautifully. The first 2 weeks were hell as I was confined to bed because of the mess they made at the hospital during labour.

All is good now though apart from an achey back.

H is now being exclusively formula fed and I am perfectly happy with it, he has taken to it beautifully and when he was weighed a week ago he was 8lb 9oz. He takes between 3 and 5oz at each feed and goes anywhere from 3hrs to 7 hrs (once or twice) over night which would be amazing and make having a baby feel like a breeze if it wasn't for the other 3dc Grin

H has loads of hair that is showing no signs of falling out yet, he loves having a bath and has been smiling and talking to us since he was about 3 weeks old. I will try and post some pics on the FB group later if I get the time/remember.

Hope you are all doing well and loving the stinking, screaming bundles we all waited so long for Grin

wishfulthinking1 · 30/05/2013 19:29

Hi jac! Just quick message to say hello, then I'm off to be sick with jealously over your 7 hours!! I'm happy to make 2 and a half!

Really glad to see you and that everything is going well x

Trishstar · 30/05/2013 20:14

Glad to hear from you Vic!

usernamegoeshere · 30/05/2013 21:02

Glad your doing well jh!

JaquelineHyde · 30/05/2013 21:59

Oh and just to annoy you all some more DH and I have been DTD for the last week and a half!! Grin Grin Grin

angeltattoo · 30/05/2013 21:59

jo that's really interesting, she has long legs like her Dad so that rings true! Hopefully they'll give us exercises and our girls will be fine!

Good to hear from you JH

Forgot to say earlier when talking about clothes, people have bought us lots of georgeous footless rompers, we desperately need some sunshine so she can wear them!

tattooedapril87 · 30/05/2013 22:24

Jo Milo has poistional talipes also. when he was born it was terrible, he was so squashed by W that he held his legs like a genie for weeks and his feet were so curved we had alot of apps with specialists as was on borderline for ponsetti method. it was so bad they spotted it at 20 wks scan! it made for difficult nappy changes too having his legs permanently crossed tightly over his front!
but just for your encouragement we have been discharged by hospital at 10wks and just have to continue with physio and his feet are looking great!

tattooedapril87 · 30/05/2013 22:26

oops- above for angel too

Dysgu · 30/05/2013 23:29

Good to see you here JH and glad that you are doing so well and so is Hugo. I agree, having a new baby would be so easy if it wasn't for all the other children around (and DS is only DC3 for us!)

Of course, for everyone currently enjoying DC1, that is not to say that it is easy - but once you move on to DC2 then DC3 there are times when having just one would seem easy IYKWIM.

Also Jo we have always used grobags in the moses baskets and have never had any problems with them. i find them so much easier than blankets, so much so that Evan slept in a lovely pink one we have from the DDs' early days as all of his were in the wash and a pink grobag was better than blankets.

enjay0811 · 30/05/2013 23:33

Pushchair coming tomorrow trish and dysgu can't wait to try it out. Looks like u had a bargain with yours! You off anywhere nice on hols? Cornwall for us next week. Fingers crossed the sun comes out for us!

user and anyone else using gripe water - how do you manage to give it to lo? Tried giving some to F earlier with a syringe and she promptly spat it all back out!

candy so glad you got some answers. Hope things improve for you soon.

Hi jac Smile glad things are goin well!
