Question: Left Lo on his side for a nap (refuses to sleep on his back) and he has rolled on to his front. Do I move him or is it ok at 19 wks?

ChasingDaisy · 25/03/2013 11:42

GP appointment done. Prescription collected. Calorific lunch purchased. Fortune spent on baby clothes, teether and toys in Boots. Surprised that Boots don't sell baby hairbrushes. There was a child in the waiting room called Peaches. Or Beaches.

Limpit80 · 25/03/2013 11:45

I hope it was beaches! Grin

YellowWellies · 25/03/2013 11:46

Made home made sausagemeat and stuffing rolls (dairy free!) ready to go in the oven. Came downstairs to find DH had hung out the washing, washed up and done the bins before leaving for the airport - so am feeling really ahead. Also just heard from first direct that alls cool with the valuation survey - so wah it looks like we'll complete on 5th April Hope everyone else is having a lovely day.

ChunkyEasterChick · 25/03/2013 11:46

limpit think it depends on whether he can actually roll yet or not. If he rolls deliberately other times, he can roll himself over in his sleep, so you'd be there all day/night, constantly adjusting him. If he can't yet roll (my DS can't yet, but rolls on to his side to go to sleep), and he has gone on to his front by mistake, then I would move him personally.

ChasingDaisy · 25/03/2013 11:49

Could have been Bitches Grin.

I agree re the rolling, if he can roll over by himself and not by accident, I would be happy leaving him on his tummy.

BigPigLittlePig · 25/03/2013 11:54

Hope it went ok at the GPs chasing - at least that's one thing you can tick off the to-do list.

yw I may have to crack out the wine again to raise a celebratory toast to your new chateau.

No clue about sleeping on front. I'm just Envy that LO's asleep somewhere that is not on a person.

ChasingDaisy · 25/03/2013 11:56

GP was fine thanks pig. Quite straightforward. Need to go back in three weeks.

Almost home now and interested to see if MIL has managed to get O to nap anywhere other than a person. Bet he is asleep in his cot, the little traitor Grin

Limpit80 · 25/03/2013 11:56

Grin@ bitches!
Going to sling library today to hire a sling, but the deposit is £95 and I Cant find my cheque book! Bugger!

BigPigLittlePig · 25/03/2013 11:58

chasing part of me wishes F would behave in a traitorous manner like that - I suspect she would actually sleep dodge for the duration and just be in a vile mood upon my return. I haven't actually left her for more than about 30 minutes though so have yet to test that theory [coward emoticon]

capedcrusader25 · 25/03/2013 12:04

chasing if you want any advice at any point I'm more than willing to help. I may not know how to get the tiny human to sleep more than 4 hours at a time but I am a qualified social worker and work in child protection :) So just shout if you need anything Flowers

PetiteRaleuse · 25/03/2013 12:18

yw Envy homemade sausage rolls. Yummmmmmmmm.

pig yes Guernsey and Jersey are ridiculously expensive

I just embarassed myself in front of some neighbours. Was saying hello as we got out of the car and swung my bag on to my shoulder but swung it too enthusiastically and it swung round and banged me on the back of my head.

Oh well, at least it didn't bang LO on the head.

jakecat · 25/03/2013 12:25

Haven't had time to catch up (trying not to lurk again by mistake!) but hello all.

Question - why are babies always very sick on their just washed one and only snow suit just as you are squeezing easing them into their buggies??

Stunt N's sleep pattern has been very similar to your LO's (and they are similar age?). We had minor improvement last night because she went back into her cot rather than slept on us but had spells of her being completely wide awake without any trace of being sleepy...

StuntNun · 25/03/2013 12:37

VQ he hit all his other growth spurts a week early (he was born a week overdue) and his sleep has been poor since about 14 weeks so I was hoping we were over the four-month growth spurt by now. Maybe in a few days everything will change. He wakes up crying with wind, farts a lot (!) then wants to be fed back to sleep. And every nappy is diarrhoea at the moment. My mum thinks he might have an infection but he doesn't seem ill, he's in a great mood when he wakes up for the day and smiling and happy the rest of the day. Apart from when he's tired when he screams himself to sleep if there's no
food forthcoming. Pass I feed him frequently in the day because he's a nap dodger and he will doze a bit while he's feeding. The thing is my first two weren't good sleepers - DS1 had colic and DS2 didn't sleep through the night until he was six! But J seems to be much worse about sleep. I don't have high expectations about him sleeping through the night or anything, I would just like him to go longer than an hour or two between feeds at night. I have a few things in place to try and help him sleep but they'll take time to work.

Chasing you will get no judgement here, we all know you are in a difficult situation. Personally I would rather hear exactly what you are going through so that I can offer as much support as I can. I would dread to think that you would feel you have to hide anything for fear of being judged. Many of us have been in similar situations and we know how hard it can be. I for one am glad that social services are getting involved. You do not have to worry, they won't take O away. They do everything to keep babies is with their mothers. They would only take a baby away if the mother was a source of danger for example if the mother was doing hard drugs or had a history of violence towards her children. My cousin's girlfriend had her children taken away because she gave heroin to her baby and had one of her older children going around the hospital stealing for her to get money to buy drugs. Honestly PND won't even get a look in as a reason to be concerned about your ability to look after O, especially as you are seeking treatment. Social services are well placed to refer you for additional support, it would be great if you could get a Homestart visit. Tell the social worker about any past incidents with your partner, I think you mentioned he had a history of other incidents. Also mention the emotional abuse especially any gaslighting. If you and your partner separate then there will need to be a decision made on his access to O. You need to be in a strong position to make your opinion heard. There was a thread on MN recently by a woman who was raped by her partner but the courts have awarded joint custody of their child. So she has to see her ex-partner to hand over the child, even though he has abused her in the past but she is afraid to have contact with him. Obviously your case isn't as extreme as you're letting him stay in the house but you do need to make sure you have a strong position. Remember that social services are there to help O, they want to ensure that you are safe and supported. Good luck with things tomorrow.

Oh no Tits I hope you get it sorted soon. What a disaster! Is the house okay to live in? Can you cook at all?

Stunt diarrea in otherwise healthy babies can be due to saliva, it's a very drooly age, or mucus if he has had a cold or something like that. Doesn't mean there's an inefction necessarily though obviously if you'e worried get it checked out.

ChasingDaisy · 25/03/2013 13:02

Thanks caped, I guess they just want to assess the situation on Wednesday. I won't go overboard with the housework etc and there is clear evidence that baby comes first in this house. You cannot move for baby toys. O is happy, chatty and thriving so I hope I have nothing to worry about.

Thank you for your advice as always stunt

Have taken the first tablet so I don't chicken out.

Well MIL couldn't get O down to sleep either so he slept on her. Secretly pleased. However, she also couldn't get him to take a feed despite him being hungry. That's because she ignored instructions about heating the feed and made it too warm. She is always saying that his feeds are too cold, despite us saying that he prefers it cold. Hopefully now she will leave that one alone

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 25/03/2013 13:11

Ok so feeding more during the day hasn't started out so well. He fed at 7.25am then a piddle wee feed at 8am then I tried him at 10.45am and he spent about 3minutes at the breast!

I've dropped DS and DD at my mums as I was waiting in on new suite being delivered. I called my mum around 12.40pm and he was taking a bottled of EBM at that point. I want know til later he much he has taken.

However in other news my couch is here!!! There was a more than slight concern that the corner section would not fit but the guys assured me they would try their hardest to get it in. It fit!! Thank god!! So I now have a swanky new couch to sit and MN on :)

Tesco delivery has just arrived too but I think I shall have some lunch and then a wee nap before heading back to collect the munchkins. My mum need never know that tesco and couch have been and gone!

ChasingDaisy · 25/03/2013 13:27

Izzy I like the sound of your plan! And regards the feeding in the day, I imagine it will probably take him time to get used to the idea, so I would keep persevering.

O isn't a great night sleeper & by increasing his day feeds we have gone from three night feeds to two still three wakenings but its a start

When are we supposed to start introducing sippy cups and drinks other than milk? Is it at weaning stage?

Clarella · 25/03/2013 13:29

stunt that sounds extremely similar to our state! except all due to tt and added delight of amoxycillin. mind you I had no idea George was ill when they picked up a slight uti so it might be worth checking out?

FatimaLovesBread · 25/03/2013 13:49

My first every selling experience on eBay is finished. I managed to see 9 out of 10 items I listed for a total of £89! Impressed! Not so much with the eBay and PayPal fees that'll need to be deducted though

Jims · 25/03/2013 13:51

How do they know? F's being really really slow to feed when i have a dentist appointment in20 mins!!

ChunkyEasterChick · 25/03/2013 13:51

Ffs. Why, WHY has grumpy baby, who has today, thus far, not been grumpy, just vommed all over himself? Literally drenched. Soaked through 3 layers. I didn't see it as I was in the kitchen making lunch for DD & I and obviously, in this, as in all things baby, they wait until we're not looking to do it.

I haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary, either yesterday or today. Ok, so roast lamb yummy isn't our usual Sunday dinner, but the veg etc was pretty par for the course, as was the lovely glass of Wine. The apple pie & cream wasn't unusual or particular tart etc.

So why does he do the HUGE vom??!!!

I am hoping that the lack of grumpiness today means that the general grumpus was an after-effect of the jabs.

ValiumQueen · 25/03/2013 13:58

chasing I have today given J an empty Tommee Tippee cup to play with. Best. Toy. Ever! Straight into mouth. Very impressed with his skills. Good to chew too.

ChasingDaisy · 25/03/2013 14:03

VQ I nearly bought a TT one during my spending spree in Boots today! Will get one next time. Going to Ikea on Sat to buy weaning stuff and obviously millions of other things I don't need so am going to start letting him play with spoons to get used to them.
