Why did no one tell me before lily I would have moved to Hungary ages ago!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/03/2013 06:50

stunt you need a break, you are right you can't continue like this, in pArticuar when you have the other boys to care for too. First port of call is to give DH a quiche slap and get the spare room sorted.

Xxx

PetiteRaleuse · 21/03/2013 07:04

When prescribing meds for babies do they take into consideration that they spit out some of it?

StuntNun · 21/03/2013 07:10

DH is in Belgium under strict instructions to get lots of sleep and bring back chocolates but I have sent him a quite aggressive assertive e-mail saying that changes have to be made now. I have been holding on to the hope that J's sleep would improve for a while now but realistically even if it does I will still be carrying a huge sleep debt.

I also have the problem of all the clutter in the house that really needs to get sorted as it is impossible to keep the place in good shape. There's nowhere to put things, no room in the loft, no room in the shed and we have stuff 'temporarily' stored at the PIL's house. I'm going to have to persuade him to part with some of his hoard. He has a real mental block about any kind of clear out so it's just got worse and worse over the years. But it makes the housework much harder for me. And we're supposed to be moving house, we're going to have to pack all this shit up and move it to the new place if we don't get it sorted. I really think we can take the videos and cassette tapes to the dump now!

Stunt I know where you're coming from with the clutter. Here every surface is covered and it drives me mad.

Dixiebell · 21/03/2013 07:16

PR, not sure they do. Are you using a syringe? Best way as u can get it back and to the side where they can't spit it out and just have to swallow.

I am thankful for DH, who does the washing up and shines my sink :)

Now, whose idea was it to book a family dentist appointment for 8am? Madness. trying to get in enough feed/sleep for Ted that he doesn't have a meltdown while we're in there, and get ds1 dressed, fed and teeth thoroughly cleaned for his first trip to dentist. Hope he also doesn't have meltdown when we sit him in a strange chair and let a stranger poke sharp things in his mouth. Hmm And no snacks to pacify obviously, can't imagine snacking in front of the dentist is quite the done thing. Oh well, I am thankful we were woken by Ted at 5.15, giving us plenty of time to get ready...Hmm

PetiteRaleuse · 21/03/2013 07:38

Yes I am using a syringe but I'm possibly not putting it in far enough. I hate the idea of forcing it down her or making her gag.just quite a bit gets dribbled out.

Ok, next time I will pretend I'm giving meds to the cat and try and ignore the squirming and shrieking. The first dose was easy as I got her by surprise. Last night and this morning she was wise to it and wouldn't open her mouth and moved her head and pushed my hand away.

These babies are surprisingly strong.

YellowWellies · 21/03/2013 07:44

Morning quiche. I'm thankful for sex. Tis a fab way to unfrump this Mummy. When DH came to bed last night I threw a box of condoms at him with the words 'he's asleep' - I appreciate this degree of romance and seduction isn't for everyone Grin but what can I say the passion is still alive at Castle Wellies Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Contradictionincarnate · 21/03/2013 07:44

woah Lily what's their NHS like...
up again since 6 feel like so much of my day rides on whether she will go down again now ...and hopefully later than 9 ... I am thankful I am still on my first! though don't know how I will ever have dc2 let alone cope Smile

Contradictionincarnate · 21/03/2013 07:46

Oooo get in Mr yw !!! - literally!!
reminds me I dreamt I was having sex with my X last night!! Sad

YellowWellies · 21/03/2013 07:48

PR we have given oral meds twice a day every day since Dec we - you have my sympathy. They do get used to it. I find he mimics me so if I open my mouth wide - he will too. Put the syringe slightly further back than you're comfy with. We are told to readminister if he voms within 30 mins of giving but I think this might not be the case with antibiotics - ask your doc?

ValiumQueen · 21/03/2013 07:51

YW it can really help I agree. Helps to un-frump, re-connect with DH and it is good to feel like a woman rather than a mother for a few minutes. If only we had the energy and inclination to do it more often. There will be fireworks when sophia gets some action Grin

Contradictionincarnate · 21/03/2013 07:52

ps sounds like a plan ...I also feel like this with the exception dh sleeps through most wakes Sad
he was away on business last week and this whole weekend on a stag.
I want just one 6/7 hour kip!
oh and thank you to those thinking of me...even though your having worse times selfless quiche!
transferring ....
now

PetiteRaleuse · 21/03/2013 07:54

Thanks Shagged up Yellow I will call. Se's not vomming, just spitting it out. And I see some of it is going down as she's swallowing and shuddering :o

kirrinIsland · 21/03/2013 08:02

Jeez stunt That is bad. I have to admit I am curious about who would choose guitar stuff over a good nights sleep - but I love sleep so perhaps my perspective is skewed. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Set the bed up in the study while he's still away?! He's had it his way for a spell - now it's your turn. and get a skip

lily That is very generous mat leave! I thought we had it pretty good here. How do employers cope with it though? In my old job, my professional qualifications lapsed after 2 years so people taking that much mat leave would need to re-sit - at a cost of £2000!!

I am thankful that DD1 no longer feels like a hot water bottle and that N only woke 3 times last night.
I am thankful for my DP who is mostly ok!
I am thankful for the security light that alerted me to the fact that I was about to go to bed with one of the dogs still outside! She's forgiven me a bit of carrot and she'll forgive anything

Pikz · 21/03/2013 08:10

Morning lovely ladies.

I am thankful for my darling boy who babbled and talked through mine and DPs argument about a coffee machine, which wouldn't work!

I am thankful for hot showers

I am thankful that we only had 2am and 5.45am as wake ups and he slept another hour in between DP and I so I feel a little bit rested.

I am thankful for my mum who is coming over at weekend just to give me a break and two hands.

I am thankful for the quiche

I am thankful we are over the worst of the broncholitis

Stunt huge hugs, I have no wisdom just wish I could come over take J and give you some sleep.

VQ get the leg looked at

Luis I am sending some Jaffa cakes

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/03/2013 08:12

There will vq and you will see them from where you are Grin

Pikz · 21/03/2013 08:12

Oh and get in YW!!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/03/2013 08:12

stunt where are you with project move?

ValiumQueen · 21/03/2013 08:13

PP consider yourself fish slapped. You are awesome. None of this is your fault. You have coped remarkably well in very difficult circumstances x

stunt is it time for a bit of mixed feeding so DH can do more, or your mum or someone?

ValiumQueen · 21/03/2013 08:16

sophia Grin I nearly put that in my post!

pr when my kids have spat too much antibiotic out, I have just gone back to the chemist with the nearly empty bottle and explained. I have never had a problem getting more.

ValiumQueen · 21/03/2013 08:18

And I have found a spoon can sometimes be better strangely. With a toddler with a level of understanding you do not feel quite so bad pinching nose and mouth shut for the sake of health, but not with a little baby.

PurplePidjin · 21/03/2013 08:29

Thanks everyone Blush sorry for being a twat. I think we've all discovered parenthood means never knowing if you're doing the right thing!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 21/03/2013 08:32

YW amazing the difference it can make. We're similarly romantic in Casa Gazelle Grin

contra good to hear you more upbeat.

lily that's amazing in Hungary

I am thankful for the humour and good advice on this quiche

I am thankful for DH sometimes

I am thankful for very supportive parents and inlaws

I am thankful that KIT days are financially worthwhile

I am thankful for 7 more weeks of maternity leave before I somehow have to fit in working full time as well Confused

ValiumQueen · 21/03/2013 08:39

pp you are not a twat. You are awesome. When the word twat, or similar pops in your head on relation to you, insert awesome. Twat still applies to DHs and other drivers, and most HCPs. Ok? Do I have to dispatch another fish?
