Nibbling nails? :-D my dp would think id gone mad or ran out of my own nails to nibble. I manage to chop his sharp pincers when hes asleep. If hes awake he gets all stroppy about it and yanks about so i can chop his whole finger off.

On the drink front i sometimes have a posh cider which ends up lasting me all night (its a reward for not going crazy or killing anyone that day) i used to drink like a fish but i just dont have the urge to like i did before. Perhaps aa should take note and send their people to have children so they lose all desire for vodka.

Whats everyones plans for post moses basket? Luckily my mum has a crib i can use cos the cot is way too big for my room. I saw on fb my friend whos baby is about 8wks is in his own room already i wouldnt dare yet! And i thought i was easy going about all this parenting lark

Louise85 · 05/04/2013 21:33

I put ds in his own room 2 nights ago, and I think I'm getting about 2 hours extra sleep since I dont wake with all the little niggles, just the cry for hunger at 7...wish I'd done it weeks ago!!

Ds has gone off his 7am bottle Confused...this should be his hungriest since he was last fed at 10...should I be cutting back on 10pm bottle feed this early (he's only 10 - nearly 11 weeks, and only dropped the 2am feed last week)???

I can't nibble nails - something to do with my teeth, like I can't bite clothes labels off...so I use nail clippers when he's awake coz he sleeps with hands clenched...I just hold VERY tight to his hand so he can't jerk it away...

Louise85 · 05/04/2013 21:34

Will try the bluetooth thing as soon as I can find my phone, or my brain - preferably both Hmm

Pascha · 05/04/2013 21:35

Ring it.

Pascha · 05/04/2013 21:41

I hope Dan doesn't outgrow his crib for another month at least. We managed about 4.5 months with DS1 and I'd like to get to that point. DS2 is built on a much smaller scale though so we should be ok.

I checked DS1's red book yesterday after the HV left and he was at approximately the same weight as Dan is now, a whole month earlier. Yet Daniel is growing out of clothes faster because he has longer legs.

AppleCrumples · 05/04/2013 21:44

Second night running all 4 in bed and asleep by 9...oh please let this continue :)

Ivy is already in a crib and should be for a while (which is good as we don't actually have q cot for her). Keep looking on gumtree for a cot bed so it lasts longer. She will be in with us for ages as we havent quite workef out where to put her!

Re the nails Ivys are v long as i am crap with them and have taken the top of a finger of each baby slow learner need her to be asleep in baby bouncer to safely do it!

Lostbobbles · 05/04/2013 22:55

Yey 99% packed Grin. Lois on the mend but hasn't pooped today which is very unlike her. Just know I'm going to get mega butt explosion on the plane! (either that or she's going to projectile the passenger in front)Confused

Louise - I'm so Envy, wish I could have even 5 hours. I would try bringing 10pm forward 15min earlier each night and you may find you have a 7-7 dream baby.

I cut nails with nail scissors or clippers then give a little file (if I have the patience)

Hope your feeling better Bunty, wish you quick recovery.

CreepyCrawly · 06/04/2013 07:17

Oh no Bunty. I hope you feel better soon

Nancy settled herself to sleep at 10pm. And she's still asleep now!

lollipoppi · 06/04/2013 08:48

Hope your feeling better bunty.
Lost have a lovely holiday I'm vvv jealous!

Ds1 was in his own room from 7 weeks, the first night we did it he slept through the whole night.
I just don't feel quite ready with DD though just yet, I think I will keep her in with us until she outgrows her Moses then put her in her room

lollipoppi · 06/04/2013 08:55

... We (and when I say we, I mean DP) had a little "accident" last night Shock
Were using the old pull out technique until I can start taking my pill ...... But this seemed to slip his mind Angry

Ive never had to take the morning after pill before, no idea if I have to go to the docs or can just get it at the chemist, I'm due on in 2 days ..... And when we have tried for both DC's I fell pregnant the first attempt so I'm assuming were both quite fertile Blush

Fuck

Angielka · 06/04/2013 09:54

Oh Bunty that's rotten. Hope you feel better.

Opps lolli I have no advice about the morning after pill but if you're due on so soon then perhaps you'll be lucky.

lost have a brilliant holiday. Molly went for 24 hours with no poo and then we had a few little smears, then finally we got the poonami another 24 hours later... hope it doesn't happen on the plane!

creepy sounds like you had a great night! Molly slept 10-6 yesterday too, so we're slowly getting there.

Nails - I file them

Cot - Molly's is going to stay in her cot in our room for a few more months. It's a bit of a squeeze, but don't want to move her into her big sister's room until we're a bit more settled with nights.

I'm in a crumpled heap on the sofa and plan on handing the kids over to DH to deal with today apart from feeds. It's such a waste of time being ill, I hate it!

Lora1982 · 06/04/2013 10:33

Lolli you can buy the pill at chemist or get it free off the dr. But i think youl be ok. My periods havent come back yet (thank god)

Im sure most of you are in the boots parent club thing and know but they are offering a free 6x4 photobook (the cheapest one) free the cod runs out on april 30th its bp12c83f2 worth it for 1,99 postage. Mine came this morning i did his christening photos in it for his memory box. I was also a good mum the other night i started his baby book

Hormonalhell · 06/04/2013 12:14

Would think if u due in three days lolli u should be safe. I got morning after pill from doc for free, u have to pay over counter tho Hmm

Hormonalhell · 06/04/2013 12:15

I've had the implant fitted but have now got irregular bleeding which is a side effect but am hoping it settles down to no periods at all Grin

Bunny222 · 06/04/2013 12:36

Ladies I have a Dream Feed question.
DS is 9 weeks and currently sleeps 8pm until 4.30/5am straight, which is great but that is when we seem to then 'start' the day as he doesn't want to go back to sleep after feeding, or if he does it barely a snooze for a half hour. And he just doesn't sleep in the day, so I end up v tired.

Do I try to wake him about 10pm for an extra feed to push him through to 6/7am? Also, I combination feed, so any benefit to doing either breast or bottle at this stage?
would welcome ur advice as don't really know anything about dream feeds!

lolli have taken morning after pill before and it's fine, always better to be safe than sorry. I got mine from the docs, only because it wasn't available over the counter back then!

Lora1982 · 06/04/2013 20:18

Bunny i give dexter a bottle about ten. Hes usually still awake then though then he sleeps til sixish and hes happy with boob the rest of the day

lotsofthingstolearn · 06/04/2013 20:46

Bunny- I do the dream feed with my lo and alls ok but he is by no means going from 8-4 . That's brilliantif yours is going so long. if he goes down at 7 i will df at 10 but tonight hes gone down at 8 so it will be an 11 pm feed. He will still wake at 7. I can't believe others are going thru I just pray for the day ! Once is bearable though typically this is about 3 am but until the past two nights of had to really push hi u til then with the dummy!

Louise- I've also noticed only the past couple of days that he is really off his 7am feed- only 2oz this am and then cat napped until 10.30am where he took a full 6oz feed! I'm the same I any imagine him taking less in the night.

Anyone noticed LO not quite napping as much during the day? I've read about this 12 week wonder week on here but what exactly is it?

The fast flow teets are a god send for those who saw my earlier post he's now taking the 5-6 oz feed I've clearly got a sucky baby. Alarming that they say on the box for 6m plus! This I'm Sure is pushing him he doesn't seem quite as twitchy in the night- either that or I just so exhausted I'm not hearing him,

Hope all are having a good weekend

Lora1982 · 06/04/2013 22:08

Anyone elses 'little darling' talk and make noises on the boob? It makes my boob vibrate and i think thats why he does it. He also has taken to scratching at it or grabbing my clothes or hair to keep himself entertained. Joyful soul.

Meringue33 · 07/04/2013 06:47

Breaking news... LO slept 8.30pm to 6.30am, with a dream feed administered by DP at 11pm :) :) :)

Meringue33 · 07/04/2013 06:51

Bunny the idea of the "dream feed" is that you pick them up around 10 or 11pm, ie just before you want to go to bed yourself, and breast or bottle feed them without properly waking them up. You then put them down quietly and hope they sleep straight through til morning.

Lora mine does that when he's fussing, it's annoying sometimes but also hilarious. DP always says "Son, don't talk with your mouth full!"

Pascha · 07/04/2013 09:09

Ha! I've been known to dreamfeed and all it does is push the nighttime feed back from 2am to 3am.

Birdies · 07/04/2013 09:31

We've gone back to 2 feeds a night but I'm still wondering if its me picking her up at the first noise and maybe I should leave her. But then if I leave her she might get properly awake and not go back to sleep. Hmm.

And dream feeds, well I haven't done this yet but tempted to try. Feels a bit mean picking her up whilst fast asleep though so I may just wait it out til she drops a feed again.

Bunny222 · 07/04/2013 09:39

Thanks for the dream feed info. LO did 10hrs straight last nite, went down at 9pm with no breaks until 7am. Woo hoo :-)

Tugstonia · 07/04/2013 14:25

Please tell me the secrets to your sleeping success!! DD (9.5 weeks) is still sleeping max 3.5 hours at night. Last night she refused to go to sleep until 9.30pm and woke 4 times during the night. I don't think she was even that hungry. I'm thinking of introducing a bottle last thing at night to see if she'll sleep a bit longer but given how long it's taken to get breastfeeding sorted I don't want to mess with my supply. Any advice? She is at least now sleeping a bit better in the daytime thank god!

Bunty hope you're feeling better and caught the mastitis in time. I found lots of hot baths and wrapping my boob in a muslin drenched in v hot water helped.

Meringue33 · 07/04/2013 15:10

First time we've tried it, it did work but may have been a fluke!

Tugs I think it does work for some babies but not others. We've been giving a bottle of formula at night for about 2-3 weeks now as I was on my knees with bf and needed a break. I would have preferred to give ebm but could never find the time to express. Until last night it didn't make a blind bit of difference to his sleep!
