It's almost half 7 here and DH is still at the office and no idea when he's leaving. Yesterday left at this time. Tuesday was ridiculous too. I'm too knackered to deal with the kids for much longer.

Pikz · 01/03/2013 18:32

VQ I'd pay to have you as my HV!!

Big hugs Eliza.

Blonder positivity always good.

PR I hope the flu has fucked off.

I have a baby who unless sleeping or eating just cries. He's back to eating every 3 hours and is constantly tired. Anyone else had this after 12 week jabs ( we didn't get them til 14 admin cock up and ridiculous receptionists). If I hadn't had an hour and a half nap he would be on eBay.

TheDetective · 01/03/2013 20:13

OMG!!!! I heart NUK bottles!!! Well, so far I do anyway! I got one this afternoon just to give it a go, not sure what I was hoping for?

Anyway, he took it so much better than the avent ones. It was so little effort for him, he took 6oz, then another 3oz!!! He has never ever done that! He was content after too. I fed him at 5, and he has barely whinged since! We've done a mix of entertaining him, and self entertaining, and he was much more settled. God knows if it is just chance or what.

I don't care. DP ran straight out and bought another 5 of the bloody things, so I hope not! The teats are much softer, and if he has got a TT, has made it easier for him to feed. Fanbloodytastic. Oh, and he fed in 7 minutes. 7 bloody minutes. No puking after. The only time we have had pukage is when I gave him some water, we've had a few up chucks with that.

Please god, let this be my miracle! I had to share, in the hope it might help other fussy feeders! Kyz thinking of you here, as like E, O is fussy in the day, but feeds great at night with no distractions.

My plan for tonight has already gone awry. I was not going to let him sleep after 7.30 as he seems to nap around then. Well, he wanted to sleep at 7.15. Gah. So he is asleep now, but I'm going to wake him and bath him, and hopefully that will pacify him, and then we can do another feed upstairs. We've been hit and miss with his bedtimes as he has become so unpredictable, and I think that as he has ended up with his last feed downstairs sometimes, that is messing things up. I'm happy with a 9pm bedtime, so tonight we will try for 9.30 and then bring it back.

Fingers crossed. I'll crack you little monkey!

Here is the neoprene wrap I got btw, for any other swimming babies! He was lovely and toastie when I got him out the pool. We had no tears today! And he was happy with a bit of dunking!

I got O the 6-12 month size, and its about right. He's long and getting a bit of chub on him now. www.twobarefeet.co.uk/acatalog/Two_Bare_Feet_Baby_Wraps.html

Good move on the Health Visiting VQ A good one is worth their weight in gold. I've never had a bad one, but you do hear some horror stories. You are what the profession needs.

TheDetective · 01/03/2013 20:14

YW Sorry, I forgot to say yesterday, thanks for letting me know about the difference with the reflux! I'll just have to wait for him to grow out of it now :)

gardenpixie32 · 01/03/2013 20:30

A pity your DP went out and bought more, we have 6 of them and only used a couple of times! The girls first bottles were Nuk in the SCBU, I found they were always sucking the teat flat and getting frustrated so I changed them to Avent which have been fine. Glad you seem to have found a solution to his feeding frustration!

TheDetective · 01/03/2013 20:43

Bugger! Ah well, never mind! I'd of been tearing my hair out with just 1 bottle Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 01/03/2013 20:52

Food porn alert. Two words. Chocolate. Fountain.
Feel sick (again) but this time it's entirely my fault Grin

Kyzordz · 01/03/2013 20:56

detective so glad you've found something that works! E has mam bottles, haven't tried nuk ones but worth a shot, he loathed avent ones and wore most of the feeds when we used them! Apparently e doesn't have tongue tie but nobody has checked since hospital and I don't know what I'm looking for.

I wonder if e is either slowing down a bit with growth or is coming down with something. He takes 4oz fine but you have to argue for any more. He was consistently taking 38-40oz before. He just seems to get furious at me/the bottle unless he's sleepy/asleep. All day he has been really whingy and miserable, no temperature but There doesn't hadevto be one does there? He has wanted to sleep all the while too, an hour of awake time is enough and then he is miserable and moody. He had a 2.5hour nap, woke up at 5:40, was yawning and crying by 7:15!! Tonight he fed at 6:45 and had gone 4 hrs so would usually be hungry, had 5oz and was thrashing so I stopped trying, bathed him and he wouldn't settle without the rest! Wtaf?!?

Glad you're feeling a bit better blonder :)

Can't remember what else I was gonna say

PurplePidjin · 01/03/2013 21:00

Cinnamon plum crumble and pink Wine here, bplp

ShellyBobbs · 01/03/2013 21:02

Thanks detective, I've just ordered a little wetsuit off that site.

YellowWellies · 01/03/2013 21:04

We made it from Scotland to Kent on the train with no meltdowns. His blanket on the table proved to be perfect play space when he was sick of being held and wanted to roll.

PIL smitten - so much so have had to retreat to darkened room to give him his bedtime feed as he kept beaming, chirruping and generally playing to the crowd. He'd have been asleep an hour ago bar an ill timed poo. Have given PIL ear plugs just in case - if I'd forgotten them that would have guaranteed a shit night.

Wish us luck.....

ShellyBobbs · 01/03/2013 21:06

In a year I've had 3 glasses of wine and they were all on xmas day. I used to drink 2 bottles of wine every weekend and a few beers in the week before little Tommy.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/03/2013 21:19

Well impressed at my fish cakes. Yay. DH got home at 9!! On a Friday!

LO much better today.

I've had a glass of port this evening and am feeling nice and relaxed for the first time in ages. French tv buggered yesterday. Missed Dexter. Hope I will be able to get it on catch up.

Watching Wild Arabia. Good old BBC. Don't listen to the Fail. There is nothing which beats BBC.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/03/2013 21:23

I drank during pregnancy. A glass of wine or champagne once or twice a week. I live in a wine and champagne type wine making area. That's not a reason it's just a comment slipped in there to make you all Envy :o

Now even though I'm not bf'ing one of us always remains under the limit at weekends just in case.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/03/2013 21:26

Catching up... We use Avent. I remember DD1 tried Tommee Tippee once. Vommed massively. She also had a Nuk bottle with the anti reflux ring at the bottom. Was excellent but at the start I didn't know the bottom was detachable and all the bits could be taken out and washed separately. Well, let's just say I don't know how I didn't poison her because by the time I realised it was pretty skanky in that base Blush

BigPigLittlePig · 01/03/2013 21:35

Caution - rant ahead
MIL related, feel free to ignore but I need to vent....

We see ILs at least weekly. My parents haven't seen all of us since Christmas, they saw LO a month ago. We've been planning to go up to see my parents this weekend for a while. This week MIL has been "struck down" with a tooth abscess - unpleasant, granted, but not life threatening. She text DH y'day to say she was in A&E - he works in the hospital, but can't drop everything to be at her side, so rightly didn't. We were out at friends earlier and she sent him a picture of her swollen face. As we were out, he didn't phone/text. Cue angry phonecall to DH from MIL, where a selection of phrases were used, some of which now follow - "you don't bother with me since F was born" (not true), "I can't believe you're going to see bigpigs parents when I'm so ill", "if you really cared you would have come to A&E" (not possible) etc.

I am currently this face -> Angry

glendathefedupwitch · 01/03/2013 21:47

detective we have nuk teats for all the ready made bottles on the ward - everyone swears by them and I've coaxed many a newborn who hadn't fed from avent/tt/mam etc bottles!!! Long may happy feeding make Oscar happy!!!!

vq eBay has changed from when dd1 was a baby - I could dress her in all funky labels like oilily, no added sugar etc and sell the stuff for virtually what I paid for it!! As much as I'd like to splurge on my last baby and spoil her with adorable outfits I am gonna have to be careful - were looking at dropping £7000 a year and have added expense of petrol, dart tag and parking 😩

QQ for Those who are using aveeno for cradle cap - how often do you put it on and do you massage it in? How long do you leave it? Shampoo after??? Step by step instructions would be fab lol - I've been using it twice a week, massaging it in and gently using my nails to stroke it in, leaving it for an hour then washing it off in the bath with baby shampoo, but it's not shifting - does it take their hair with it if you use it more often? Don't want to lose her lovely blonde locks!!!

She has been such a happy smiley girl all day which has been fun and she rolled over twice from front to back earlier but wouldn't repeat for daddy, she's also copying us giving little coughs.

In dull boring for you but exciting for me saddo I've bought a new sandwich press/toastie maker - dh and kids and me love toastie sandwiches and as he'll be cooking mostly for the next 3 years I thought I'd get a new one as ours is buggered and this one can do paninis -so we'll be doing lots of experiments - what do you like on your toasted sandwiches?? I love corned beef n brown sauce!!!!!

horseylady · 01/03/2013 21:53

Not read will catch up soon.

Fucking vom

That is all

fruitpastilles · 01/03/2013 22:00

glenda I don't know about aveeno, but I used olive oil on S's head for her cradle cap, I used to put it all over her head of a night and brush it out in the morning, worked a treat! It's really cheap from boots as well for a small bottle. (Sorry if you have tried this already)

TheDetective · 01/03/2013 22:01

Eeeek. He's asleep. Plan went to, erm plan. I'm about to put him in his cot. This is where it could all go tits up.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/03/2013 22:04

Vaseline good for cradle crap too. Bugger to get out but v effective.

applepieinthesky · 01/03/2013 22:07

Detective I love the little wetsuit you linked to. Great price too. I may have to get one because we take DS swimming every week but poor little boy is shivering by the time we get out. I have been looking into Water Babe classes today too and might sign him up.

The lactose free milk is working wonders Smile I was at work today but my dad said DS was really happy and more like his normal self. His nappies are much better too. We have to keep him on this milk for a month then I will ask for him to be retested before we put him back on Aptamil.

Now going to try and catchup on all the posts I've missed. Hope you are all well x

Elizadoesdolittle · 01/03/2013 22:18

E now has a tube down her nose, was horrid getting it into her. Luckily my friend was still here and she held her down. She's just had 100ml put into her and now sleeping peacefully. Am now on my little camp bed next to her watching Alan Carr.

Thanks so much for all the lovely messages here and on fb. Means a lot. Thank you quiche Thanks

Hope you all get lots of sleep, not going to be much of it here so you might as well all have my sleeping dust.

Passmethecrisps · 01/03/2013 22:34

You have my sympathy eliza as that is a horrible thing to see. 100ml is a good amount to get in her as well. You might find that she can sleep through all the observations and tube feedings so if the nurses are quiet then you might get some rest! Does she have a wee wire attached to her toe for observations? We managed to get P's draped out her suit and out the bed so she could be completely undisturbed while doing it

I can hardly think of anyone more suited to being a HV than you VQ. Your responses to each of our wobbles and more has been wise and pragmatic. And if you don't know something you are not afraid to admit it. That is all I ever ask of anyone and, personally, I find that deeply reassuring.

apple that is great news about the milk. It is amazing how quickly it can take effect.

Baked bean toasties are a particular favourite of mine glenda

I am not sure what else was happening today? blonder was having a good day. PR is kicking flu's butt. YW is at the inlaws passing out earplugs.

There were lots of other things I know. Hi-5s to everyone for making it though the day - another day of being commited and awesome ladies.
