Ah, thought so, it's one of the things my DP can't go into work with if he has.

Cabin fever and conjunctivitis, that stinks...Sad

jigglebum · 09/04/2013 23:14

Thanks for the sympathies ladies after my rant! DS went to bed poorly too in the end so I guess it was the right call to bin swimming. I left Freya to DH and had a bath and have had a few hours of sleep. I do struggle to function well when I am ill but it gives me a bit more sympathy to how Freya has been feeling the last few days as it is really quite grim.DH and I are both shite at illness sympthy with each other.

Do you think we have particularly ill babies on this thread! At the moment I think we have chicken pox, HFM, stomach bug, end of croupy type cough etc and all the ill mummies too. roll on summer and an end to at least some of this. Freya has lost quite a bit of weight too cheung and she wasnt big to begin with. Her size 4 nappies are almost too big round the middle and she has loose skin at the tops of her thighs.

aethel - how on earth do you get so much done!? Our grass desperately needs a cut but not sure when to get out there and do it - freya doesnt amuse herself for long and only naps for 45 mins. Also, do you think I should take her to the drs tom is she still has diarrohea as it will be day 6?

SevenReasonsToSmile · 09/04/2013 23:23

jiggle glad you got some sleep. I think it doesn't help how long winter has dragged on for this year, we've certainly had our fair share of illness on here! My non-medical opinion is I'd take her tomorrow as its longer than 5 days.

queen sounds nasty, hope it clears up soon.

Another one here with an often negative DH, drives me mad. Life's too short, accept what you can't change and move on.

Hope Freya, MiniM and little Cheung are all feeling better soon!

HoneyLovesCake · 10/04/2013 00:42

Hello again thought I'd just pop my head in to see how you all are? I've been busy setting up a sling library, launched this week so hoping things will be a bit more chilled for a while & I can catch up :)

Aethelfleda · 10/04/2013 07:40

morning! Hi Honey, good to see you, wow that sounds busy stuff. Good luck with the sling library, sounds fantastic. I must admit I'm only using a RoseNRebellion sometimes now, DS likes being in it but he's getting too heavy for a comfy fromt carry now and I can only get him in the back carry in private as people stare with all the jiggling if I try it in public Blush plus you can't stick a load of shopping and two scooters on a baby carrer!!

jiggle, I agree with seven, a doctors checkover is prob a good idea, they can give you a sample tube so you can get it cheked if she's not better in a few more days. I expect it will settle over the next 3-5 days but still worth getting her checked due to her age.
I am one of these people who tends to just do stuff...though I am awful in the mornings, very much an evening person. (am hiding upstairs with a cuppa tea while lovely DH gives DS breakfast. Henactually slept through last night, yaaay!) oh and FWIW this amount of illnesses is totally normal especially at this time of year!! Its to do with their ages, toddlers are busy catching things all the time as they are in such close contact with each other and their parents and haven't got the immunity of adults yet, everything is new to them. It's good for them in the long run apparently....

Oh poor Freya Jiggle, I'd probably get her in to see a dr if the diahrrea has lasted that long. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but the last two times DS has had it, I've given him live yoghurt and that has solved the problem within a day.

I must admit if I'm in doubt I will always take DS to the dr, our Dr's receptionists are hit and miss, but at our surgery most of the dr's are part time and working Mums, so they are happy to see us.

CheungFun · 10/04/2013 08:01

Hi HLC, congratulations on setting up the sling library! I hope it's a success (I'm sure it will be) :) You introduced me to the world of baby carrying which has made life much easier although DS is getting a bit heavy for me now (I don't think my back is 100%), I will definitely be carrying any future children :)

HoneyLovesCake · 10/04/2013 10:15

Hi Aethel I think you're pretty amazing to front carry at all now, I stick to back carrying 99% of the time although I am using a ring sling now for quick ups & downs because like all toddlers he can't make up his mind where he wants to be!!

Thanks Cheung I really hope it's a success too :) Our natural parenting group has grown from 40 members to over 300 in a year so I think there's a need for it but we will see. I didn't invest any personal money, just lots of time so if it does flop I will at least have enjoyed myself & not lost anything.

We have a mums in our group with back & hip problems who carry..what carrier are you using? It might just need tweaking? When they get past a year our LOs weight distribution changes & they can seem impossible to carry but this can often be improved with some help. Sorry, I've just done a Babywearing Consultant's course so I'm in fix-it mode Grin Have to say though when they're this size it is a lot harder to carry unless you're doing it every day which doesn't suit everyone.

So, anyone else's LO insist on wearing something a bit odd at all times? Rocco has a hat & a single fingerless glove (mine) on at all times. He will take the glove off to eat but not the hat!

jigglebum · 10/04/2013 10:29

Morning. Cant get an appt for Freya today so going to try the live yogurt cheung when I feel up to getting out the house myself!

Felt awful this morning so left DH to deal with the kids and he sensibly has taken the day off. I have been back to sleep for a couple of hours and he has taken the kids out for the morning. I am feeling quite a lot better and I will have them this afternoon so he can work.

Xiaoxiong · 10/04/2013 11:20

jiggle glad DH has stepped up to give you some rest and hope freya feels better soon.

honey amazing growth of your parenting group, that sounds like you're plugging a serious gap in the market and good luck with the sling library!! Smile We are still back carrying with the boba 3G and loving it. DS hasn't insisted on wearing something odd but he certainly carries weird things around with him sometimes (he will hug the dustpan and brush, he dropped a buddha figurine into the bath, he wailed when DH tried to separate him from my iphone charger...)

I think DH is doing something mysterious and magical to DS's brain while he is SAHDing. This morning, he displayed the fruits of yesterday's labours:

  • DS can now sort of count up to ten. Ok, three and four are a little totally garbled and he doesn't know what the numbers actually mean, but still - he knows what sound comes after what.
  • He can also finish the ends of lines of some nursery rhymes like twinkle twinkle and three blind mice. This morning DH sang "one two three four..." and DS said "faiii...."
once I caught a fish..."awaiii" six seven eight nine..."den" then I let him go..."agnnn"

The best thing is he does it all with this little knowing smile, like he's thinking, "ok, so I am their puppet and jump through their little hoops now. But patience, my friends, 'tis one step closer to freedom...mwahahaha...."

But then he has a meltdown over the fact that we won't let him chew electrical cables, and it's back to square one!

HoneyLovesCake · 10/04/2013 13:37

AMAZING Xiao Rocco is not even close to that. He signs a fair bit but the only words that are clear are duck, dog, mama & dada everything else is just a noise some of which I understand, but no one else does Grin

iZombie · 10/04/2013 18:34

Octoboy has a very close relationship with the old wireless router. He is frequently to be found hugging it while trundling about the place muttering to himself.

mopsytop · 10/04/2013 19:19

Minimopsy is particularly fond of my mittens (which go up to her armpits!) and wearing her bib on her head.

She is much better and eating again and smiling again yay! Thanks for all the well wishes. Will try catch up with the thread soon. Fingers crossed will get good night tonight!

EasilyBored · 10/04/2013 19:31

Funny the objects they become attached to, Cass loves the hoover and spends all day dragging it round the house. He calls it 'rah rah'.

NorthernChinchilla · 10/04/2013 20:19

DS isn't really attached to anything yet, wish he would be. He just seems on course to be the most bloody minded and wilful determined child on the planet.
Sigh.

But Octoboy sounds soooooo cute with the router, I can just see him doing it!

Glad to hear some of the DCs are improving, and lovely to see you HLC, High Priestess of Slings! Sounds like you're doing an amazing job with that group.

iZombie · 10/04/2013 22:17

I'll stick a picture up tomorrow Northern:o

How many slings did the library win in the end Honey?

Aethelfleda · 11/04/2013 08:02

Wish us luck, we are off to the horror of skool holiday infested Legoland... We undertake such outings extremely rarely but every few years a get-the-kids-in-free voucher persuades us this is a good idea. and between the ages of 3 and about 9 the kids do really love it.

Oh and DS likes dragging around an iron hanging basket bracket when he's in the garden. I have no idea why.....

jigglebum · 11/04/2013 10:04

Good luck with legoland aethel We want to take ds for his 5th birthday in june but cant quite believe how expensive it is.

Well freya seems a lot better now - only 2 horrid nappies yesterday and happy in herself, which inevitably means ds now has it. He went to bed with an upset tummy last night and whilst I was changing his bed this morning after an accident in the night dh calls up that ds has just thrown up over the breakfast table. My easter hols seem to have consisted of clearing up poo and sick mostly!

Freya likes wandering round with various things around her neck! often her pj bottoms she has taken off but also various other unsuitable things she finds.

janey223 · 11/04/2013 10:24

Hello everyone grabs cuppa

So much going on, hope everyone's feeling better today.

Monkey is still very excited to be home! Gave him peas yesterday though and had a reaction so I'm going to assume the full legume family now as he can't have soy (has built up a small tolerance though) and I suspect beans are an issue. He's very lucky as they're not anaphylactic reactions, he has delayed reactions and oral allergies.

Very tired mummy today but I need to get unpacked at nap time Hmm

HoneyLovesCake · 11/04/2013 10:57

Loads iZombie Grin we won the MeiTai from go slings & then the Toddler Tula full buckle from Slumber Roo & then because we had so many people vote for us Slumber Roo are going to give us a choice of carriers every quarter! Think we're going with a Boba bundle first (stretchy wrap & Boba 3G) but we have the option of the brand new Beco Soleil too which is exciting :)

Nice to hear I'm not the only one with a toddler with strange habits Hmm

Xiaoxiong · 11/04/2013 12:39

Ah, Boba 3G...how do I love thee...probably our best baby-related purchase EVER.

EasilyBored · 11/04/2013 13:17

I am totally buying a Soleil. I love my Butterfly but the body is too narrow, the soleil is three inches wider! So excited!

iZombie · 11/04/2013 17:55

I love the pattedrns on the Tula :o

I have all the pains. The back pain has morphed into a groin/hip pain and my knee has ballooned too. Joy! If I were a horse...

Aethelfleda · 11/04/2013 20:11

Quiet night in with leftover chilli dinner I think....

Is there anything to do if its raining?
