Interesting sibling exchange last night. Dd1 complained about something her sister had done and said 'I wish I didn't have a sister!' Dd2 in all her innocence piped up 'But I'm your sister!' It shut dd1 right up because saying she doesn't want a sister is rather different to saying she doesn't want this sister.

Bearcrumble · 09/07/2013 08:11

i had to wear a short-ish dress yesterday because of the heat. I don't have bad legs but they look horrible because am totally covered in bruises and insect bites that I can't stop scratching.

Scones I got the book. I identify a lot (only on second chapter). Feel like the older one's difficult behaviour is getting worse though. We've started having bedtime refusal and I can't leave them alone in a room together because he hits her. He never used to.

MrsHelsBels74 · 09/07/2013 08:39

Has anyone else not managed to potty train yet? DS1 just won't (and we all know how wilful 3 year olds can be Confused). Am starting to get a bit concerned now.

Bearcrumble · 09/07/2013 09:20

I think anything up to 4 is 'within the normal range' - my friend's little boy was born Oct 2009 and is only just toilet trained (still some accidents).

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 09/07/2013 09:34

DD2 this morning: "You are a good girl mama!" and a kiss Grin.

MrsHels a friend had this with her DS1, only peer pressure worked (after 4) and her younger sister starting to get trained too at 3 and a bit. probably not what you want to hear. She was totally relaxed about it though ie she didn't think she needed to train them she just let them get on with it themselves
Let him run naked all day, it is hot enough now. Make him clean himself and the floor after each accidents see if he decides that to go to the toilet is easier. Another friend did that with her DD (3.5 at the time) who kept having accident, after 2 days of cleaning she decided that going on time was easier.

SconesForTea · 09/07/2013 12:13

Mous aaaaaw! Smile

MrsHels my DD1 (same age) is only TT for wees, she still insists on a nappy for poos (and, yes, they are WILFUL). I have decided just to go with it for now and only worry if she is approaching school and still needing nappies. I am expecting her to train fully when her younger sister does; maybe it will be the same for your DS1?

bc glad you got the book, sorry I could have sent it to you. DD1's behaviour varies so much, right now she is being brilliant with DD2 (after being really quite nasty to her quite often) but she is starting to bedtime refuse. I'm at a loss because we had a gate for so long, we haven't had to deal with it. And DD2 just wants to use me as a dummy ALLLLLL evening. I got really angry with both of them last night and again this morning.

I took DD1 to a birthday party without DD2 for the second weekend running and I am sure that the 121 with her is really helping. I have to make a real effort to keep it up, when there isn't a definite reason to like a party.

We sat in a friend's garden yesterday afternoon and there was no shade and it was just too hot!! DD2 got a bit burned Blush Friend pointed out that I don't use anything like enough sun cream. She bulk-bought it in the winter which was sensible. A bee stung my foot which was SO painful, I can't imagine a child having to deal with it, I barely could. Shoes shoes shoes outside from now on (usually they are barefoot in the garden).

ClimbingPenguin · 09/07/2013 13:07

I am quite relieved other people are having bedtime issues too

InmaculadaConcepcion · 09/07/2013 21:02

Ouch at the bee sting Scones!
DS got a bit sun burnt the other day - same reason, I think - DH didn't realise that you need to slather on the cream for it to be properly effective.

MrsHelsBels my DD is the same as Scones' - requires a nappy to do a poo, but is otherwise potty/toilet trained. And like Scones, I'm not going to push it - DD will get there. She's pooed in the potty before, but hated the smell, so was put off. She's pooed in the toilet, but got splashed, so was put off. And she's still inclined to be a withholder, so we're already up against it a bit (she's still on 2x sachets of Movicol per day). I would rather she did a poo every day in a nappy than started withholding again. I'm hoping in time, sufficient peer pressure and a desire to be more grown up will finally get her using the toilet for everything.
It's frustrating though, isn't it? Good luck!

How is everyone? Enjoying the nice weather?

rainbowweaver · 11/07/2013 18:35

Yep! Very lovely weather indeed! Though I won't mind now if it was a leeeetle bit less sunny :) albeit keeping dry and warm

Just back from Cornwall earlier this week, saw all the beautiful beach pictures on everyone's fb - will add ours soon.

Now very glad to be back home and not travelling for a while

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 12/07/2013 06:52

Sun is OK I still need closed shoes and a cardi, I swear I am not doing it to get noticed but I do

JewelFairies · 12/07/2013 11:54

I think the sun has gone to my head. Today's tally:
1x forgotten sun hat for strawberry blond haired dd who regularly burns her head
1x forgotten to put sunblock on fair skinned dd
1x forgotten library book which has to be returned today
1x driven straight past petrol station I had gone out of my way to get to
1x driven past my junction
1x forgotten to buy cheese
1x boiled over pan of pasta....

Mind you, dh did one better and forgot to collect the children from after school care last night! He did manage to get there just before they closed at 6pm...

JewelFairies · 12/07/2013 11:56

1x forgotten hot cup of tea (now cold)
It's going to be a long day Grin

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 12/07/2013 12:03

Sounds like you need holidays to me!

JewelFairies · 12/07/2013 12:09

Mous, my girls break up for the summer this afternoon Grin. Just wish I had 7 weeks off now... Sad

JewelFairies · 12/07/2013 12:14

dd2 made someone snort with laughter earlier. I got cash out and she shouted 'It's magic!' when the money came out Wink

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 12/07/2013 12:35

1 more week here!
Grin

ScienceRocks · 12/07/2013 14:53

JF Grin

Dd2 made me almost faint with middle class embarrassment earlier. We were in costa having lunch (I know, I know, but there's one in my tesco and I was being lazy) and she chose soup and a roll. When it arrived, she said "mummy, is this sourdough bread?"

Blush
JewelFairies · 12/07/2013 16:25

Grin SR Sounds familiar to me. Dd2 has had tantrums in M&S because they appear to have discontinued olive ciabatta and plain just won't do. And dd1 at this age once moaned 'Not Lidl!!' When I turned the 'wrong' way at a roundabout.

JewelFairies · 13/07/2013 13:52

Poorly dd2 on her first day of her first school summer holiday Sad. She was up every 20 minutes last night, crying because of a tummy ache. Then slept until 5. Then slept from 7.30 until past 10. And she's now back in bed sleeping. Many tears during the time she was awake. I'm keeping a close eye with appendicitis at the back of my mind.

JewelFairies · 13/07/2013 14:32

She's awake, breathing fast, with a temperature of 39.9 Shock How awful to be sick on such a lovely day Sad

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 13/07/2013 17:51

Your poor DD2. Have you check the back of her throat with a torch?
My mum always said that if it is appendicitis you can't bring your knees up to your chest, not sure if it is true.

JewelFairies · 13/07/2013 18:40

Mous Just checked her throat, nothing. She's perked up a lot though and is now raiding the fridge to make up for not eating since last night! Grin. If the pain around her tummy button comes back I will get her checked over though just to be on the safe side.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 13/07/2013 19:28

that is a good sign!
