Dd2 when questioned why she was eating her cereal with her left hand...'I don't know what is my hand.' Looks like she's ambidextrous like me.

Bearcrumble · 10/06/2013 13:25

Hello everyone,

Back from holiday which was good. Kids enjoyed themselves but DS was really quite badly behaved especially in restaurants which isn't what he's normally like. He is terribly defiant at the moment, almost going out of his way to do the opposite of what I ask him. My dad did seem to favour playing with DD so I expect that has something to do with it. My dad is quite changed. He is still extremely anxious about his health and seems fairly depressed. It's a shame and I feel for him - I've been depressed and anxious in the past myself and it is really life sapping. He has no joy in anything much. No job. Not many friends locally. He looks sad and scared. I wish I could help him. I posted asking for help on the Little Italy thread and someone came up with a link to a directory of psychologists so I have sent him the details of one near him. I hope he goes to see her.

DS has kicked me again since the first time and seems to finding it harder than ever to control his emotions. He had a total meltdown at a birthday party because he dropped a slice of cake even though he was offered a replacement. He is still a bit mad about buses and trains and gets wound up thinking we're going to miss them and then screaming. He's even a bit OCD - he has to put his toothbrush back in the bathroom in the same way every night - if he gets it 'wrong' he does it again.

That said he is very sweet and loveable at the same time and fun to talk to. He asks constant questions and has me wracking my brains for answers. Thank God for the internet.

Was DH's 39th birthday yesterday - he liked his presents. My 40th on Wednesday - gulp.

I haven't read back - will do so.

Lots of love and hugs to survival and others going though difficult times.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 10/06/2013 15:58

Bc sorry to hear about your Dad - so hard, especially when you're such a distance away xx
As for your DS' behaviour - I think all toddlers are a bit "OCD" about certain things, especially their little daily routines and habits - DD certainly is!! As for the challenging emotional demands etc. - yep, tough. I can relate to a fair amount of that too and DH in particular is finding DD a big wind-up at the moment. They don't call it threenager for nothing, I guess

DD has been less disruptive at night lately - four nights without any interruptions, which is good. Not sure if the clock has anything to do with it or not, but she likes it!

ScienceRocks · 14/06/2013 13:09

Stoof, I know what you mean. If any of my friends say they are thinking about having kids, I tell them to go out a lot. Spontaneous meals out, lazy mornings in bed, watching a box set in one day... Because these days will soon be over!

JewelFairies · 14/06/2013 19:13

Stoof I had that thought the other day. We've been in our current house over a decade but my oldest is only just about turning 6. What did we DO with ourselves all that time? I have no idea.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 15/06/2013 21:32

I played a lot of guitar and wrote songs! And went to loads of gigs, meals out, pub meets, parties, cinema........

Bc I can't remember if I said Happy Birthday elsewhere, if I didn't, I hope it was a splendid day! x

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 17/06/2013 10:19

I agree with IC, JF is everything OK?

Both girls wants to go back home Sad.

ScienceRocks · 17/06/2013 11:23

Oh mous Sad I thought they were getting on really well? Any job news for your DH? How is the house?

JF I can still see you on my FB, but nothing happens when I try and go to your page. Everything OK?

BC how was your birthday? How is DS? Any improvement on the behaviour front?

Stoof how are you feeling?

StoneBaby · 17/06/2013 11:59

Big hugs to all as it seems lots of us need it.

JF like SR re fb

I'm home today with a migraine but at least I slept until 10.30am (having fallen asleep at 7.30pm)

SconesForTea · 17/06/2013 12:10

I thought I had loads of time, but suddenly there is less than an hour to go until I have to pick up DD1, the washing still to put out on the line , DD2 to dress and lunch to get/eat for both of us. Sigh.

How was your party bc?

Mous Flowers for you too, and you SB and a big mug of Brew (it's a leeetle early in the day for Wine)

survival you are doing a fantastic job holding life together for your family. Massive bunch of Flowers for you.

SR I give exactly the same advice to my pregnant friends. I do recall my sister encouraging me to go for one last weekend away when I was about 37w pg with DD1. I didn't go; thought I was too tired. I didn't know what tiredness WAS......! Shock

I somehow managed to escape the Plague despite swallowing vomit. DH had it. Then DD1 was exposed to hand, foot and mouth but seems to have escaped. However she likely has a UTI and is on antibiotics. She point blank refused to give a sample; in the end the GP took pity on me and prescribed penicillin anyway. Not best practice, I know, and she was reluctant; but DD1 did have clear symptoms (excruciating pain when weeing, tummy ache, temperature). She was under the weather yesterday but seems ok today.

InmaculadaConcepcion · 17/06/2013 15:09

Ah, poor DD1 Scones.... getting a wee sample is a nightmare, eh? Especially if they won't use the potty.....

SB I have a tube of virtually unused Conceive Plus lubricant - would you like it? If so, PM me your address!!

Survival you are amazing.

JF...??

JewelFairies · 17/06/2013 16:23

IT problems, sorry. Still here Smile

ScienceRocks · 17/06/2013 16:40

Conceive plus lubricant? What on earth does it contain? BlushShockGrinWink

SB, fingers crossed. Maybe some Wine will help...

Scones, I know that feeling of time escaping. Well done on escaping the lurgy. Poor DD1 though Sad

StoneBaby · 17/06/2013 17:20

SR I'm on the 2ww so Wine is the best option Grin

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 17/06/2013 18:28

DH has been naughty so I have Wine to share.
He is trying to make a net for the strawberries Hmm

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 17/06/2013 18:29
