I have returned! Just spent over an hour catching up with last thread and this one. I see some of you on fb, so I knew about ninja's star DD1!
Many congrats Carrie incredible news!
I've been away for a couple of reasons: 1. I was finding mn doing my head in after the termination last yr and some of the awful judgements (not on me) from some women and 2. I was spending a lot of time on a thread with DS's antenatal group and we all moved over onto a fb private group, which is so much easier than mn as you can post via mobile far more easily.
But I'm back.
Sorry exH is still a total TB ninja - can't offer anything other than sympathy.
So in Wales, we hear about our primary schools this Friday . I'm not too concerned - the council website states if you do not put a preference down, they will put your child into the nearest school, which happens to be our first choice. It's a bigger one but has good after school club and is in walking distance. 60 in reception.
2nd choice is a drive away and no after school club but this year's reception intake was 17 so I'm guessing they'll be room.
Initially I thought the smaller one would be perfect for DD as she used to be so very shy but she's not anymore (oldest in nursery now) and another mum said that a larger school means more friends if they fall out and they really make an effort with shy children.
I am proud of her. i reckon she'll be reading before September and she 'gets' words. She said the other day, 'car, that's c a r or r a c or c r a'.
She asks me to spell words all the time and can write mummy, daddy, matthew, can, van, car, tutu, nana.
DS is 15m and is so different in so many ways and he is so lovely. He is so much more independent and able. Looking back DD was a right PITA (but she has become really good company now) and he is much more chilled. he loves helping me unload dishwasher etc.
But we do have another runner. Was hoping he might be different but no, out come the reins again.
I'm still working 4 days a week and go back full time in September once DD starts reception. her last day is Tuesday 27 (or 26th?) August - a week before she starts school.
I have no idea if it's a phased start but if it is, tough shit. I work and so she needs to be in school full time from the start. I understand legally they can't refuse this. I could maybe do one or two first short days but that's it. She'll be 5 on 17 Sept so is certainly old enough.
Right will finish before you collapse with boredom. I'll try and keep up with this thread again. :)
