GT I find that if they have had a lot of milk the day before they don't seem so hungry the following day.

Garden but he missed two feeds yesterday aswel.

He is awake now. Sounds snotty. So used drops up his nose. He has a little cough. Given his calpol. He has drank his milk now. But now unless he cluster feeds it will be day two of less milk. Sad

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 29/01/2013 11:41

I am so so tired. Wish I could curl up and have a nap. DD at nursery at 1pm but I have post natal Pilates at 1.30 and since J doesnt nap anyway I'm on to plums :-(

BigPigLittlePig · 29/01/2013 11:44

Why do visitors have to prod sleeping babies, then say "oh look they're awake" and proceed to pass an increasingly grumpy baby from visitor to visitor? And when the baby is inconsolable, and only then, pass them to their mummy and say "we'll be off then."

I feel very intolerant today. There has been much smiling and nodding at well meaning advice.

garden it is bad enough with 1 on nights like that, hats off to you

ValiumQueen · 29/01/2013 11:59

Has he got a temp GT ?

horseylady · 29/01/2013 12:07

Gt when e has a cold, he has to eat little and often. Every couple of hours. But he might just not be hungry as full of mucous. Ds food intake goes down drastically and was horrific when he had broncalitis. If you're at all worried get him seen by the dr.

Sophia - we too growth spurt and cold!!

Had projectile vom again this morning. I have one dc. Yet between him, dogs and dh I swear my washing machine is never off!!

KatieLily12 · 29/01/2013 12:14

GT try not to panic. As long as nappy output and general demeanour remain ok, they'll be fine. I'm on week 2 of feeding refusal due to reflux and she's fine. I'm exhausted but she's fine.

BPLP oh I've got to the point I don't see some people inlaws unless we're out so I can have LO in the sling.

StuntNun · 29/01/2013 12:17

They still make Medised TooMany but it's a decongestant and painkiller so wouldn't be ideal for teething. DH bought teething granules, whatever they are. I always used Bonjela for the other two.

J only woke for one feed both the last two nights with a bit of restless grumping a couple of other times. Shhh don't say it too loudly or you'll jinx it.

At 10 weeks J has stopped taking a dummy. Does that mean he doesn't have that need to suck any more? He has been chewing his fist a lot.

J is rubbish at tummy time. He can't even do one push up, just lies there wiping his face through the drool!

I'm going to go and buy a bumbo and a door bouncer tomorrow I think. Is this wise? I was hoping for a jumperoo but funds will not permit.

OP posts:
BigPigLittlePig · 29/01/2013 12:30

Stunt I can't wait to get a door bouncer for LO, I think she'll love it. Although thought that about a bouncing chair and she is at best indifferent...at the moment am certain a door bouncer would cause major neck trauma as she hasn't quite got the whole head control thing sorted but she loves standing up and her legs go wild. The jumperoo is one of those things I saw pre-children and thought "that looks a bit boldly coloured and plastic for my house" but would now buy in a shot if it made LO happy gave me a minutes peace

horseylady · 29/01/2013 12:30

I love the bumbo stunt. Best purchase to date!!! I'd love a jumperoo but they're so pricey!! We don't have a suitable door for a door swing!!

YellowWellies · 29/01/2013 12:37

Speaking of teething powders - folks with reflux babies should avoid these if your LO has issues with dairy as they often, helpfully Angry. contain milk proteins.

GT can I echo VQ's sentiments that you are coming across a bit as wanting to have a pregnancy accident - please consider Detective's excellent advice and go for the injection. With your fears of PND, issues with PIL and DH's drinking / lack of help at nights - I think you might need a little longer between LOs. I dont think adding more stress and sleeplessness to the mix is wise?

Maybe spend some time with an 11 / 12 month old and figure out if you could balance that with a newborn. I couldn't. If H is an early mover he could be into everything at that age. As you say MS and long haul travel will be a nightmare - also air travel non early preg is linked to miscarriage Sad Feel free to tell me to eff off!!! Wink

YellowWellies · 29/01/2013 12:38

I got a jumperoo on eBay for £35. It looks great but is 4+ months due to risk of neck strain. can't wait to use it!

TheTiger · 29/01/2013 12:46

glenda sounds like you are having a tough time. Hope things get better.

BPLP I have visitors who do that too. They now get The Look. And when he cries because he does not like pass the parcel, they say 'oh, he's too used to you that's the problem'. Really? A baby wanting his mummy is a problem? Gahhh.

I'm feeling like a terrible mother over here. I tried to put DS in his swing for a nap. He was clearly tired. He cried and cried, I kept persevering; sat by his side shushing, held his hand. He cried for 15 mins and I cracked and picked him up. He's now asleep in my arms but keeps whimpering and doing little sobs in his sleep Sad

Should I keep trying? Wait a week until he's a bit bigger and try again? Give up and let him sleep on me? The lack of sleep and any time to myself is killing me, but I can't bear for him to be so upset either. DH tries to help and he does weekend night feeds, but when DS is really crying I just take him because I know he will settle quicker for me than DH.

On the subject of next babies, I can't imagine doing all this again! I loved being pregnant and loved giving birth, but looking after a newborn is sooo tough.

GTbaby · 29/01/2013 12:49

I remember saying if I got preg oh well not end of the world. But last night was having exact same thoughts of how would I cope. With pil with OH being a dick.

N had shouting match with H as I asked him to listen out for LO while I pop to shop 3 min walk away. H is asleep as off night shift n LO was dozing anyway( i put him in the crib in the same room) So at most he would have had to deal with LO for a few minutes. (LO was asleep when I got bk). I've been up all night. I need sleep. I don't want that for dinner. I don't know what I want.

I mk H sound like an arse don't I. Sad He ain't always this bad.

Brockle · 29/01/2013 12:49

thanks katie. I thought it was.three months but I do have a sling from SIL so might give it s go.

I love the doorway bouncers. Both my DS's loved it and cannot wait to have Y in it.

Took Y to BAby beats yesterday and he loved it. twenty five mums and babies shaking musical instruments and he didn't bat an eyelid. Trying out a bumbo at a play session on Friday. I love surestart Grin

MissMummy1 · 29/01/2013 12:50

YW I might be really cheeky and ask if I can let M have a go with it when she hits 4 months before we buy one. She is so hit and miss with what she does and doesnt like! See you in 40 mins or so! I've left my car at my mums so will definitely be walking - rain or no rain!

gardenpixies32 · 29/01/2013 12:54

I also got a Jumperoo off eBay for 35. A friend also lent me hers so we have two, I can't wait for the girls to start using it & to entertain themselves for a short while so I can get on with things. Although, that may never happen, my girls seem to be scared of everything...the bumbo seats, the big bath, strangers, strange places, the play ring... Confused

YellowWellies · 29/01/2013 12:56

Not cheeky at all MM J is the same - sods law he'll hate it. So far his change mat is his fave place to be if not on me - WT actual F? Strange bear.....

See you at baby massage - M is up for us coming round after. Bet J weeps through it as he just fallen asleep Sad

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 29/01/2013 13:06

yw my DS likes his changing mat - he can lie on it for an age just watching DD. he also seems to be nicely entertained by his mobile and mat canopy thing. I think these things must be quite stimulating for a small baby! justifying the way i plonk him down and forget about him to Mumsnet

DonnaDoon · 29/01/2013 13:14

LOL At the first thread stunt can't believe how far out mine and Evils dates were she had 15th November and I had the 12th and ours both arrived early October.

TheDetective · 29/01/2013 13:30

I tried Oscar in a jumperoo in toys r us yesterday! We are getting one. Definitely. You can get them 2nd hand around £35. Our facebook selling page regularly has them. I will get one next month. He has amazing head control, but I want to be sure. Plus his feet didn't touch the floor. Despite his incredible length! In fact we tried him in a few different toys. Blush He had a whale of a time. After a morning of baby sensory, he must have thought all his dreams had come true!

Door bouncers aren't recommended any more. I don't know why. The HV just looked around and assessed the ridiculous amount of toys I have for him and said 'you don't have a door bouncer do you because they aren't recommended'. Should really google why. But CBA! I have a great space for one to go, but oh well!

Ooooh YW bloody hell, I was going to post the same thing. Oscar has 2 gorgeous play mats. Where does he want to be? The cheap plastic changing mat. I don't get it!

Stunt I may have just spent the last 45 minutes reading that thread with tears in my eyes. Blush I also was just as chatty then as I am now.

I'm not going to be joining the Oct 13 thread. Hello period!

DS1 was at his dads last night. DP in work today. Oscar slept 10-5.15, then 5.15 -7.40 (that one was DP's turn!) then he woke for 20 minutes when DP handed him to me (not sure why DP fucked up the basket transfer again but he did...) anyway, he went back to sleep and we co-slept til erm, just before after 12. How lazy?! Very. The shame. He looks tired again now. Better go put him asleep as he isn't self settling and is starting to grump. Oh wait. Maybe he is. Will watch for a few minutes!!

I'm going to regret us sleeping late tonight aren't I? Bugger. Must do better!

He loves having the blanket right over his head. That is his favourite mummys heart attack self settling method. He also hates it if his head is resting on my bare arm. He lifts his head and shuffles around like a crazed frog. If I put a soft blanket between us, he snuggles in like a wee kitten!

I think he is self settling with the blanket. Bless, he has a comforter!

He's gone. Ace!

TheDetective · 29/01/2013 13:36

Yes. We have self settled sleep in the bouncer! Excellent. Will remove blanket in 2 minutes!!

I forgot to add we tried a couple of the jumperoos and the Fisher Price Rainforest one was our preference. Seemed very supportive.

I think Oscar has been having his growth spurts closer to his EDD age than his actual age. I've noticed sudden growth in him twice, where he suddenly was much bigger well his head was over night, and he started looking older almost. First one was just after christmas, in his 4th week. Second was 2 days ago, so 9 weeks. Anyone else noticed the growth spurt through actual growth rather than change in behaviour?

zcos · 29/01/2013 13:37

is anyone also having hv visit still ? no ones been Since New year though I did see hv in docs a couple of weeks ago bumped into them when having 6 week check... will see them at mummy group next week.

TheDetective · 29/01/2013 13:41

I asked about this a couple of weeks ago, think general consensus was that some areas do home visits for longer than others. I assumed just the first visit was at home, but told they visit at 6 weeks, 3-4 months, then some more, but not sure what those were. I've told them not to bother. I don't want them. Mostly because I sat round all day waiting last time, and they didn't turn up. She got the dates mixed up, so I said I didn't want to rearrange.
