Oh heck Christina, don't tell me Lauren might go off fruit! Then we'll truly be stuck!
We're off to DH's step brother's wedding in Hamburg. Then we fly to Italy and spend a week at a villa in Tuscany, three nights in Florence and then back home. Can't wait. Lauren is going to my parents for the 15 nights we'll be away. Hope she'll be ok. Luckily she's very used to them, so don't think it will be too traumatic for her.
You're lucky you haven't had periods for so long. I hate the things and not having them was the only benefit I found during my horrid pregnancy.

Pidge · 05/07/2006 08:54

jambot - iron rich foods - red lentils and dried apricots. Iris loves Annabel Karmel's "Lovely lentils" which is basically lentils cooked up in stock with sweet potato and celery, and then mashed. And I cook and puree dried fruit and then stir it into porridge/ready brek/weetabix/yogurt etc. And I've also been assured babies actually need very little iron to meet their requirements. So I'm sure she's doing fine.

Iris would also live off bananas and bread, given half a chance. And she does the trick of looking scornfully at the bowl of food in front of her and then handing it back to me!

I'm another one growing out the layers in my hair into a bob. And it's driving me nuts, becuase my fringe is all in my eyes. Currently I'm having to wear it clipped back in an unappealing manner.

I put on weight last time round as the breastfeeding tailed off, but not this time. Must be the running I'm doing 3 times a week. Oh and the chasing after two kids!

jambot · 05/07/2006 10:45

SA is a very big producer of dried fruit so we always have some in the house. Pears, nectarines, apricots etc, so at least that's a good thing. She loves the fruit that comes in a roll and you just peel off a piece.

ukrainianmum · 05/07/2006 12:17

Hello ladies!!!

You have started the most awful subject ever-eating!!!Well,i can say that since Ksenia went to the nursery she is eating much better in fact she eats everything she is giving but only at the nursery with other kids. And if she stays home then i have to switch my imaginantion and feed her.The only foods that she eats without problem it is a cottage cheese made for babies maybe its fromage frais in english and she loves(touch the wood) a plain yougurt with 3.2% of fat just before she is off for the night sleep. And the cereal and all that healthy foods i have to struggle. And her food regime looks like this
1.breafast-100 or more of fromage frais or cereal
2.lunch-soup or main course
3.snack after a nap-frits or puree made of fruits or cereal
4.Plain yougurt.
And of course if we are going out she eats either a bun or buscuit. And she has a bottle of milk before every sleep.
And as normal child she refuses to chew but thnks to my mum she is starting to do so.She only chews if she bithes off this piece.Well, consider it is hot here like in Africa i dont insist on the full course of food. She is drinking enough and my heart are at piece.

JoPG · 05/07/2006 19:16

AAAgh - Too hot and sticky today! Everyone is tired and grumpy and despite the rain it still feels too hot to sleep. (Sorry for the moaning!)

Freya has drunk loads of water today and not a lot else. She is really hot and is spending a lot of time just in her nappy, but luckily she is still sleeping well.

Hope all the other little ones are not suffering too much.

calebsmum · 05/07/2006 21:25

Nice to hear that everyone is ok! Time really goes fast, keep meaning to update. Caleb is good just getting over foot, hand and mouth disease! Don't know how he got it, but it's not that bad thankfully. Am also considering trying for number 2 (no! that means sex!!) but money is not a good subject at the moment so don't think I dare! Those of you with two do you find it expensive going from 1 child to 2??

busywizzy · 05/07/2006 23:18

Hello everyone - just finished working so thought I'd have a quick update before heading off to bed.

Harrison eats everything and anything and then he eats some more He's not overly keen on tomatoes but that's about the only thing I've found so far that he often spits out. But sometimes, particularly when he has teeth coming through, he just doesn't seem interested. He plays with the food, puts it on his head, throws it on the floor and then gives me his bowl and says 'fished'. I just leave him be, knowing that the second he's out of his highchair, he'll be chasing round after Hannah to see what she's eating.

I'm much more cool about food this time round and as a result, he's a fab eater. Lucky me, one less thing to stress about

Calebsmum, I don't think 2 is much more expensive than 1 but then I didn't buy a single new thing for Harrison except a buggy - just dusted down Hannah's old stuff and got passed things from my sister who's got a 2 year old. I buy him clothes - really don't think pink would suit him - but that's probably off set by staying in more now we have two as a babysitter is much harder to find !!

All of you who are worried about loving another - don't be. As a second time mum, I totally understand all the feelings you have as I had them too and I can't explain how you can love another just the same. But you can, it's fantastic and as Jo (I think) said, seeing your children together laughing and playing and loving each other is just the best

And it's such fun trying to make them

Night night all.

busywizzy · 05/07/2006 23:23

Just read my post and thought it sounded a bit dismissive of concerns about eating and I didn't mean it to.

Hannah goes through phases of hardly eating enough to feed a sparrow and other times when I can't get enough food in her quick enough. There's not much of her but she's as healthy as can be so I've learnt from experience (and believe me, I've worried myself to an early grave over her eating) that they eat when they want to and when they don't, they won't. Please don't worry - it really is true that they'll eat when they're hungry

Pidge · 06/07/2006 20:49

busy - you are so right - you have to at least pretend not to care when the blighters won't eat! The thing I really really hate is having to throw my lovingly prepared food in the bin. Drives me mad!! Though with Iris it doesn't happen as often as it used to with Cleo.

Forgot to say that earlier this week I had both dds jabbed - Iris got her MMR (finally) and Cleo had her pre-school booster, which was actually two injections, one in each arm. And bless them - neither of them so much as whimpered!

leogaela · 08/07/2006 06:49

Well, after all this talk about what its like having a second baby.... its come a little quicker than we expected, but I seem to be a little bit pregnant again !
The due date is almost 2 years to the day of Niklas's due date (13th March!).

Anyone else going ot join me on March 2007 pre-natal thread?

I'm worrying about how the hell I cope with Niklas and pregnancy and Niklas and a new born! Hoping for lots of advice from all you with 2 babies!

OP posts:
Pidge · 08/07/2006 08:51

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! Leo - so chuffed for you. 2 kids is the best thing ever. The baby bit is so much easier second time round, you'll feel like an old pro. And, as has been said here before, seeing your 2 kids playing together just makes you pop with pride.

Gosh - what exciting news. Anyone else!? Not me yet. Definitely still on for a third, but current plan is to aim for when Iris is 3 or even a bit older.

Drat - am going to have to go - Iris has been trying to join in typing my congratulatory message and is now fiddling with the off switch on the comptuter and trying to grab the mouse!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 08/07/2006 09:03

Leo, many, many congratulations!

jambot · 08/07/2006 16:55

Well done Leo!! Great news. Won't be joining you for at least another 6 months. Now don't go and neglect your old mumsnetter friends now!!

JoPG · 08/07/2006 17:41

Very many congratulations Leo - that is fantastic news.
Hope you are feeling well and are not suffering too much with any pregnancy symptoms yet.
March will be a very exciting time for you, again!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 10/07/2006 12:24

Leo - I'm thinking about a job in Basel. What would you say would be a comfortable salary there? I have absolutely no idea. I saw that flats to rent are about 1200-1500 a month, but what would be reasonable to live on? It would be only me working and not DH as well. So i'd be supporting him and the kids. Just a very rough idea. Thanks.

busywizzy · 10/07/2006 22:11

Leo - just seen your note CONGRATULATIONS

ukrainianmum · 11/07/2006 10:37

LEO-many-many congratulations!!!!!!It is the best news in the world about new baby is coming.Well, enjoy another 9 months and wait for Your March!!!!!!If i join my dh this summer i hope i catch up but not in march.Lots of good health to mummy and little one.

And i have little news.I am still learning how drive.Ksenia is at the nursery. My dh sent to us a parcel and among all the presents there was a trike.Well, first 2 hours ksenia sat on it and didnt move at all.She was shining with proudness and hapiness. And now she just push it all around. She put her head down and like tractor doesnt mind any objects on her way.

That would be all.Ladies,All the best to you
Take care

Pidge · 11/07/2006 12:52

What a laugh with Ksenia and her trike! Iris is like a bull in a china shop with hers. And, as always, she has ideas above her station and is constantly trying to climb onto dd1's bicycle too, with disastrous consequences.

Unbelievably she slept till 6.31am this morning - that is the LONGEST she has ever slept in her whole life. Guttingly dd1 was up at 5.30am, though we chucked her straight back to bed. And I think Iris only slept that long because she has an absolute stinker of a cold. But never mind!

Leo - how are you feeling. I just hate those first three months. It's almost enough to put me off doing it again. Almost .

tamula · 11/07/2006 12:54

leogaela!!!!!

yay!! Someone else from our team!!

congratulations!! I am so pleased for you!! My due date is now 14/11/06 we had our anomaly scan and its another girl!! I am pleased as punch, I think dp was a little disappointed but nevermind, 3 women in the house should keep him in line

ava has just turned 15 months and seems to be going through terrible two's already i do my best to stay calm or ignore it but i've just told her off and sent her to bed without a cuddle i feel really bad now but dont wanna go back in as she'll wake up!!

she's becoming a tad whiney (only withme of course) she's as nice as pie with anyone else!

feeling very hot and sick of people telling me not long now when i have 4 months left. How insensitive are people? esp mothers, they should know what its like and not assume anything, feeling a bit down today, we're moving to a bigger place on Fri and its all quite stressful, we have lots of work to do in new house including central heating, so it will be out of chaos into mayhem...

anyways enough moaning, hope your all well and congrats again to Legs!!

tam and Ava

leogaela · 11/07/2006 15:19

Thankyou all !

Oh, stressing at work.... I will have to catch up properly later.

I'm off ot london for 2 days tomorrow. It will be the first time I have spend a night away from Niklas, I am really not looking forward to it..

Christina, we have to email to discuss, can you give me your email or CAT me.... would be great if oyu come to Basel !

OP posts:
CristinaTheAstonishing · 11/07/2006 17:50

Leo - you can't receive CATs. I'm cristina at augood dot co dot uk.

leogaela · 11/07/2006 19:40

Sorry, Cristina I didn't have time to check earlier.

Tamula - great to hear from you. Its so hot it must be really tough being so pregnant and with a toddler in tow as well. I hope the time passes quickly for you. I am always really busy in the summer and the time passes too quickly, I hope it does for you as well. Roll on November (and March!)

I am so , we haven't been able to find a trike for Niklas that his legs aren't too short for! Hmmm, will have to go and have another look.

Pidge, I think I'm feeling much better this time than I did when I was pregnant with Niklas, but then its only about 5 weeks so early days yet, I think it got worse before it got better. A little bit of nausea comes and goes but nothing like the last time. This evening I was really, really tired, I wanted ot run which I am sure would have made me feel better but Niklas was even more hungry and tired that it took 2 of us to keep him calm and prepare his food, by which time I was so hungry... now I'm packing for London !

OP posts:
leogaela · 11/07/2006 19:41

that was supposed to be a for March!!!

OP posts:
Pidge · 12/07/2006 20:57

Leo - Glad you're not feeling too bad - fingers crossed it continues.

And congrats to Tamula - I'm not sure I even knew you were pregnant. Roll on November.

Our summers are always frantic too Leo. In fact I get quite stressed out at this time of year. It's birthday season for dd1 and her friends. Plus we're off to Denmark for 3 weeks at the end of July, back for 10 days, and then off to Wales for a week. So everything is busy, busy, busy. But in a nice way of course!

jambot · 13/07/2006 10:32

Hoping you don't feel horrid this pregnancy Leo.
My nausea started at six weeks and lasted two months. They were the worst two months ever! Never felt so terrible in my life! At least the last time I could get into bed with my bucket and lie there in peace. Not so easy with a toddler around, although I suppose your you're more occupied so your mind gets taken off things. Difficult though when you're chucking up into a bucket every hour
