Jambot, what a shock for you - you can't take your eyes off them for a second can you. Had a look on the bucket but can't see the picture of Lauren. Can someone else look and tell me if I'm doing something wrong.

Fingers crossed, the real Harrison has been returned to me Grin Last two days he's been happy and smiley and back to his usual easy-going self. Also been sleeping through the night again, thank god. All weekend, we've been out in the garden as the weather's been so lovely. He's still not sure of the feel of grass so spends his time on his hands and feet, walking like a crab rather than crawling. I'm amazed how fast he can move around like that Smile No repeat of the walking he did last weekend but he's quite brave now at letting go of things and standing on his own. Physically advanced ...... I don't think so.

Hannah was in a swimming gala last night with her school. She's not the best swimmer in the world technique wise and isn't very fast and being one of the littlest in the gala, she was quite slow in most of her races. A dad sitting behind me starting slating her in one of the relay races as she was 'letting the team down' (which his daughter was also part of). It was all I could do not to punch him in the face. Instead, I turned round and said ever so sweetly, 'yes, but she's trying so hard and doing her very best and that's what's important isn't it'. Ha ha ha ha ha ha, the look of pure embarrassment on his face when he realised I was her mum Grin

Hope everyone else is well.

busywizzy · 04/06/2006 17:59

Jo, thanks for the feedback on the Science Museum. DH and I were planning on taking Hannah soon so it's good to hear how well you thought your day went.

BonyM, enjoy having Phoebe home tomorrow Smile

jambot · 04/06/2006 18:10

Wouldn't load for some reason. Think is has the same jpeg number as an existing pic. Will get Peter to change it and re-post.

jambot · 04/06/2006 18:20

Glad to hear Harrison is back to normal. Long may it last. If anyone was to say nasty things about my daughter I think I'd tear their throat out, so think you were very restrained!! Glad he felt suitably ashamed.
We have a major problem in SA with parents going totally over the top when watching their children play sport, especially rugby. Often read in the paper on a Monday morning about two fathers having a punch up on the sidelines.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 04/06/2006 18:59

3mummy - welcome back.

Poor Harrison - six teeth at once!

Jambot - Sylvia did the same: she climbed to the top of the ladder on Domi's bunk-bed. Scary stuff. On the other hand, she cried yesterday at the sand-pit as she didn't like the feel of sand on her feet.

Today we went to a farm and then swimming. Sylvia can now "swim" with arm-bands. She loves drinking the pool water - bleugh!

Pidge · 05/06/2006 20:57

Jambot - Shock at the ladder climbing exploits. They seem to have a built-in desire to go climbing at this age don't they? Iris will attemt to scale anything and everything at the moment. And of course has no sense of self-preservation. Dd1 is known to say calmly "Iris, I don't think that's a very good idea"!

Busy - Hope Harrison's teeth are through and not causing grief any more. Iris also has swollen, red and white gums, bleeding in places where teeth are coming through. She was horrendous late last week, permanently whinging and hanging on to me, but she had a cold too, which didn't help. Fortunately over the weekend she was back on fine form. We were away, staying in a house belonging to dp's family down near the South Coast. It was idyllic seeing Iris and dd1 pottering round the garden there.

Dp is out this evening, and I surpassed myself by getting both girls into bed by 7.10pm! Then cooked up a batch of chicken, squash and couscous for the freezer for Iris, made a meringue for a dinner party later this week, and now, have poured myself a large glass of wine, which I plan to guzzle before getting a very early night. Lovely!

Hello Everyone!

Missed a lot since last time i logged in.It has been an awful weather here.Stupid weather.Really hot.It is +28 now at night and by day i dont want even think about it.And all strengh is going to fight the heat! But I have been thinking abut you all.Didnt see the fotobucket yet but looking forward and will send some of Ksenia recent fotos.

Busy-glad to hear about Harisson's first steps. And his teeth!!!!Even though it was a really hard proseess the resultsdefinetly made you happy!

Leo-so sorry to hear that Nicklas got worse again. You Know i cant stop thinking about his breathing.dont know why.Maybe it is hard for me to picture a baby with thise things that you use.So i found another resolution. Here it called salty rooms. It is a special room filled with speciel salty air.And you spend some time in these rooms and breath deply with this air wich is reach for this special salt

.In my town are few salt lakes and they make up a resort and it is special spas based on those salts and some magic mud!I know it is sounds strange but i know peple who were really happy with the results.Maybe you hve same in your country?

And our news.Frtom today Ksenia is going to the nursery.Feirst few days she stays here for 2 hours, then for 4 and so on and in a month she will easily spend ther the whole day.Of course she did cry for about 10 mins and after she was fine.Although she ate 2 slice of bread for a breakfast and had some tea there but when they went out(they i mean other 5 kids age from 1,6-1,10 months old)Ksenia was playing and was a quite happy baby!!!She is such a monster now especially since the heat came she went mad. coz normally we spent the mainly all day in the house and frakly speaking ther is not much to do inside.so when we have 1 hour in the morning and 2 in the evevning she goes mad mad outside.runnin g,screaming, fighting with other kids, pouring a sand on her sweaty head, having tantrums coz she is hungry but will not it coz it hot.And the last fun she is barking atevery dog she sees.Just stands and barks like real dogs and the dogs look at her and you can see a ? Why is little human being barks at me.And she is very sporty girl.loves to hang head down, climbing everywhere she can.Active baby.Very opposite of me.
Me-finally i went to the driving school.Just 2 weeks now of theory and far away from driving.
And thinkig about to go to work. But didnt disided yet.My dh so desperate to get us back asap so he asked a local MP to help him with his immigration case.We all praying that soon will be all together. And Dh already thinking about second child.

Well, that would be it for now.very long post.I hope the heat will go away at least by the end of july and i will be back to my normal myself!!
Wishing all of you to be in a good health and enjoy the summer!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 05/06/2006 21:52

UMum - LOL at Ksenia barking! We have mud lakes on the Black Sea in Romania too, but there aren't any in the UK (as far as I know). We've had hot weather this weekend too, really lovely. Good luck with your decision about going back to work. Sounds like Ksenia is going to be just fine in nursery.

The words Sylvia can say: mama, dada, Gaga (somehow this means Dominic), Laa-Laa, Po, shoe, no, no-no (these are Dominic's hearing aids, whenever she goes near them she hears no-no so she thinks this is what they're called), woof-woof, down (meaning she wants to get up on the chair, sofa, bed etc), gone, apa (Romanian for water). On Sunday she said what sounded like "I want apa", but maybe that's our over-zealous hearing. She has lots of signs and has invented a few of her own.

Sylvia's current likes, more like obsessions, are the Teletubbies and toothbrush and toothpaste. She's learnt to turn round in circles and walk backwards. Yesterday and today she ate loads (as you know, that's MY obsession).

jambot · 06/06/2006 07:29

Lauren's obsession at the moment is soap! Keeps on making off with bars of soap, hiding behind the couch and eating the stuff!! Yuk.
Christina, did you grow up in Romania? Your English is very good. You can normally pick up a second language speaker because of the odd

jambot · 06/06/2006 07:31

.....grammatical slip, but never notice that with you.
Hope Ksenia enjoys nursery. I'm only going to think of Lauren going to a little play group up the road when she is two. Will do a couple of mornings a week until she is three and goes to nursery.

busywizzy · 06/06/2006 22:39

Harrison has entered the twilight zone of the Terrible Twos a bit early Shock He had another major tantrum this morning because he couldn't have my car keys (selfish mummy, worrying about stabbing himself in the face) and tonight again because he couldn't have my mobile phone.

He flings himself on the floor and wails and wails. It's almost comical if I wasn't so worried that he's turning into a brat!!

Please someone reassure me he's not the only one who has these tempers [she says waiting hopefully for a positive response from everyone Grin )

CristinaTheAstonishing · 07/06/2006 09:29

Sylvia has furies too, e.g. she wants to use the phone and two old mobiles just won't do because they don't light up and make noises (or at least I believe that's her reason). She also wants everything DS is having, be it ice-cream, boiled sweets, the book he's reading, the pen he's using. He's v good about sharing with her but I feel sorry for him sometimes when she always has her way. Either my memory isn't too good but I find her behaviour more difficult than Dominic's was at this stage.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 07/06/2006 09:52

Jambot - thanks for the compliment regarding my use of the English language. I still make mistakes on a daily basis, especially when it comes to prepositions and word order in sentences.

Funny how Lauren likes eating soap. Sylvia likes toothpaste. So we try and feed them the best food, organic meat etc then they stuff their mouths with chemicals...

ukrainianmum · 07/06/2006 11:06

Good day,ladies!!

Christina-your english is so good.Much much better then mine. How long do you speak in Eng or did you studied earlier?I am even liitle bit jealous but in a good wayGrin

Busy-tantrums are always ther for Ksenia if she feels that there is nothing to do so she uses tactics of driving her mummy mad.But you know nursery even it was only three days a good way to deal with tantrums. She is eating food, all that she is offerd, and she is a very well behaved baby, touch the wood.

Y'day Ksenia made a lovely phone call to her daddy in England.Luckly my dh has enough brain and he hang up.so from y'day home phone on parental lock!!!

Ksenia is asleep now.Do you all still have two naps or did someone move to one?We have one since last Friday.Toothbrushing came to the point when she wants only toothpaste.and we still have only 8 teeth for the last 3 months.

Well, I am off for a nap.

jambot · 07/06/2006 11:52

Ukrainianmum - you're English is not bad at all. Ok your grammar isn't perfect, but I find it quite sweet, and imagine you talking in an exotic Russian accent. It is Russian you speak, yes? I know you're not Russian anymore, but is that your first language? Lauren has been having one two hour sleep since 12 months. Sometimes it's even 3 hours.
Busy - Lauren has started doing foot stomping when she doesn't get her way. Hasn't thrown herself on the floor yet, but think it's only because I distract her like crazy as soon as she starts 'stropping'.

Georgiesmum · 07/06/2006 12:30

Hi Everyone remember me. Sorry havent been on in ages georgi was Poorly and then things just got so busy that I had forgotten all about this thread!

How is everyone?

Georgie is doing really well, we have at least ten "words" but we still dont have Mummy Sad daddy and Cat are the favorites along with Ta!

Walking everywhere and nver staying still! Has 4 molars but still only two teeth and thebottom front!

She has starting telling me when she needs a wee by grabing her nappy at the front (or just her girly bits if she naked) so we will start potty training soon I think.[shock) Has anyone else started yet? Any tips?

She is starting to try to run aswell but her legs wont go as fast as she wants so she falls over! bless her!

We have her christening next month so I am trying to organise that at the mo too!

OOHH also Can someone email me the password etc for the pics again as I have lost it. Crosspest1 @ aol dot com

Love to all x

Pidge · 07/06/2006 20:13

Hi Georgiesmum - what a cutie she sounds. I am hopeless on the photo site, so will defer to someone else. I do have a link somewhere, but it always takes me 20 minutes to dig out the password!

Busy - Iris gets absolutely mad too. Goes into a total rage if she doesn't get her way.

Cristina - like you, I'm finding her behaviour MUCH more difficult than dd1 at this age. I don't think it's false memory syndrome - my dd1 has always been incredibly calm. She never threw tantrums, and if she couldn't have something you could always just talk her round it and explain why, and then she was fine. She's more challenging these days, but age 0-3 she was a doddle. I try to be careful comparing her to Iris all the time (though it's inevitable to some extent). Anyway, Iris is just a very different personality. Very feisty and determined. And definitely not to be pacified if she feels she's not getting her way.

leogaela · 07/06/2006 20:40

Hi everyone,
I've been really busy but have been dropping in to read, just not had time to post.
We have decided to try to get Niklas off cow/cow based milk and dairy to see if it helps him get rid of the bronchitis. We have started giving him baby soya milk and rice milk he seems to love both but we think the soya milk is giving him the squits.
Over the past month or so he has got red patches on his skin which seems to be getting worse and today he was quite rashy. He has developed an obsession wiht broccoli, sounds healthy but could eating it every day be giving him the skin problems? Can't think what else it could be.

Busy, tantrums? No, what's one of them then? Wink.

Niklas loves his toothbrush, sometimes he falls asleep holding it at night. He prefers it to any of the lovely cuddly toys he has, even the poor little cat who has sat faithfully in his bed watching him for the past 15 months when he sleeps hardly gets a glance.

Jambot - I haven't forgotten about hte details for your friend going it Geneva. I'm off to bed in a bit but will try to email you tomorrow.

OP posts:
BonyM · 07/06/2006 21:21

Good to hear from you again Georgiesmum - will warn you - this thread can move very fast so if you stay away too long you'll never catch up! Grin

Leo - sorry to hear that Niklas is still having health problems. Not heard that broccoli can cause skin problems, but it could be something dietry. Have you seen the GP?

Don't want to put you first-time mums off but it really seems to be true that 2nd babies are, on the whole, more challenging than first. I wonder if this is nature's way of encouraging people to have more than one child? Wink Phoebe sounds a lot like Iris, Pidge, never had tantrums (well, maybe an occasional one, but very rare), and just incredibly easy on all fronts really.

Grace now has a smattering of words - mamma, da (for daddy), ta, there and purple! Well, it's more like purr-pa really, but bless her, she loves one of Phoebe's old Kipper books (which in fact used to be Phoebe's favourite bedtime read) where Kipper is trying to catch a butterfly. He realises that the butterfly keeps landing on purple things, and when we get to the bit that says "they were all...PURPLE" Grace chimes in with purr-pa!Smile

Have had a lovely day today - 3 ante-natal friends came for lunch with their babies and I got the paddling pool out. It was very relaxing, sitting chatting in the garden while the babies all pottered about!

Oh - have I mentioned? - it's lovely to have Phoebe back! Smile I think Grace must have really missed her. When we took her to school today, Phoebe gave her a hug goodbye and then I had to practically drag Grace, sobbing, out of her arms. She was really crying and saying "mamma, mamma"(!) and reaching her arms out to Phoebe! She was the same this evening when we took Phoebe to Brownies. They are incredibly close but Grace has never been upset to leave her before.

Apologies for the long post!

jambot · 08/06/2006 08:17

Thanks Leo. That would be great.

ukrainianmum · 08/06/2006 12:41

Hello to everyone!

Georgiesmum-i started potty training since Ksenia was 7 or so month.Well, to be honest it is hard but rewarding job.At first Ksenia was sreaming when i was trying to sit her down on the potty but it was only for couple of days and now the biggest problem is that she can stand up on her own so i have to occupy her while she is doing it.but never leave the child for longer then 5 mins o the potty. If she didnt do anything wait for another 5 mins and try again. And try to make a routine-after sleep or a nap, after feed, before naps, after and before going out.Good luck with it and hope to get a good responce.

Nursery is going just fine.Ksenia loves it.today she cryied for only few seconds from entrance to the toybox.the most good thing is that she is trying to eat by her self and actually she is succseeding in it.:0.I am so proud of my little girl. And the hugs and kisses that she gave mw when i came to take her home. She never evre was so affectioned to me.God bless the Nursery!!!!Hooray!!!

Ok,got to go.wishing you all to have a good day and girs the world cup is starting tomorrow/Is anyone of you into football? If yes, good luck to your teams,if not-good luck to you coz all men are definetly into the games.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 08/06/2006 14:45

We started some early potty training with Sylvia as well - and v successful it was too. Now, however, she doesn't want to sit on the potty at all. I let her w/o nappy at home and she tells us when she does something, as she's doing it or immediately after she comes to get us and show us her efforts - but just won't sit on the potty. She puts her toys on it and then takes them off to see if they've done anything and then goes "all gone" when she sees there's nothing there. Funny little girl.
