Hello! DS asleep for now, so going to try for a proper catch up.

Little, sounds like my DS has the same nap issues as J. I'm really trying to teach him to fall asleep by himself in his cot rather than having to be in the pram or on me. I love the cuddles, but I know it's best for him to learn to sleep himself in the long run!

Scream, it's lovely to hear from you! S pleased to hear about your flat and new arrangements, which sound great. Hope DD is over her illnesses now and can crack on with the walking!

Too, how is DD, walking yet?! Hope her illnesses have gone too.

Sacks, good luck with the sleeping, sounds like you are getting there. E likes the pram too, probably for the same reasons as T. How's your dad now?

Smegs, v impressed. Y your bread making. And what's wrong with Paul Hollywood? I think he has a certain je ne sais quoi!

Scarlet, hurrah re school! DD has just missed out on going this year as she is 4 in September, but I'm dreading the applications next year as its so competitive round here. Glad DD is getting over the pox now too. Ae you still feeling more positive?

Musical, how are you and lovely I?

Olives, I'm sorry to hear you are feeling emotional. I certainly have days like that too. I still struggle a bit with balancing DD and DS. Never feel like either of them get enough attention.

Dream, how's work going? Hope you are doing ok and there is no illness in the dream house for now.

Hi to pet, jaggy, dino and anyone else. Sorry, but DS awake now so got to dash...

GenericDietCola · 18/04/2013 10:57

Sorry for typos, silly ipad thinks it knows better than me.

GenericDietCola · 18/04/2013 11:06

Ok, so DS now dozing on me, so I'll talk about myself for a bit! He is doing well, but has been going thru a phase of waking in the night and staying up for 2 hours. Luckily this only happens once a night, but it is tiring me out! Last night, he didn't do it so I'm daring to hope the phase may be over. I'm trying to get him to go to sleep with a dummy rather than me having to boob him to sleep all the time. I did this with DD and then took the dummy off her at about 10/11 months. DS has had the dummy for a nap once, yesterday morning, but he's not keen so far. I'm torn as I'd rather he didn't need any sort if prop really, but I don't have the time to spend ages trying other methods, plus whenever he's dozing off, dd has a habit of bursting in and waking him up!

Things still not good re FIL but he started his chemo this week. Oh and now my dad has a health scare. Just waiting to see what exactly is going on, but it's not as bad as what FIL has.

Anyway, still brooking for everyone and all the babies. Can't believe so many are 1!

jaggythistle · 18/04/2013 18:25

Hi all, just going to add a quick post so I can find you later to try and catch up!

DS2 is 1 today Shock How did that happen so quick? ?

Saw the GP today for my 8 week check. I do indeed have a rectocele. Sad I am being referred to the gynaecologists but there is not much that can be done. Not even pelvic floor exercises help that much apparently, although I should be referred to physio. Hoping this doesn't make the decision about more children for us. The GP was surprised I don't have any stress incontinence (am thankful for this!) but it appears my trampolining career is over! Wink

PetWoman · 18/04/2013 20:02

Happy birthday to Jaggy's R! Hope you've had a fab day!

Dino what is a rectocele? It doesn't sound good. I hope it's something that gets better.

DinoSnores · 18/04/2013 21:06

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rectocele

Can't believe that jaggy's DS2 is 1 year old. I think I first became a Brooker after 'meeting' her on a TTC & BFing thread what must be a couple of years ago now.

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 18/04/2013 21:55

That's where I 'met' jaggy too, and you dino

Sorry for the silence, I'm shattered. Bloody fucking d&v here for S. Again. Bearing in mind last week he had a chest infection and bilateral middle ear infections. Bedtimes are a total nightmare with him that I've not got the energy to go into now (on phone). Sleep is terrible, still up 2 hourly.. the thought of trying to night wean makes me want to weep with tiredness. Yuck

Hello to everyone and lovely to hear all your news though

scarletfingernail · 18/04/2013 22:34

I've had a well deserved evening out with a lovely friend tonight and have had a coule of Wine. I'm feeling nicely chilled and ready for bed.

Ahh sympathies on the rectocele Dino. I can join you with that. Mine was diagnosed 5/6 weeks ago, I'd put off going for months. Vaginal back wall prolapse and rectocele. My GP hasn't referred me for anything, basically said I've got to put up with it for at least another 10 years before he'd refer me for a surgical repair. I was peed off at first understatement, but I'm happier now my thrush has finally packed up and gone. Had to do 3 pressaries consecutively over 3 nights and it seems to have done the trick. I'm also taking mefenamic acid for heavy periods. If that remains under control along with the thrush I can put up with the prolapse and rectocele for now.
. How do you feel about it?

Dream your poor little S. He really is suffering bless him. I can imagine how fed up you must be feeling. I bet working is a welcome break in a way (((hugs)))

Happy birthday to DS2 *Jaggy. I remember your casual announcement that he'd arrived, that year has gone so fast. Have you managed to celebrate?

Brooking for your Dad Gen

PetWoman · 18/04/2013 22:39

Thanks for the link Dino but :( for you. Hope the ban in trampolining is the worst inconvenience it's causing.

Dream :( about poor S's illness. Re the night weaning, I know his vomiting makes it much worse, but might it be feasible for DH to take a few days off and take on night duty for those days? You could even sleep elsewhere for a night, maybe? Because if you weren't required for breastfeeding duty, you could actually see if DH alone has more success. Anyway, for you. I can only imagine how dreadful you must feel at the moment. Are DD and B ok at least?

PetWoman · 18/04/2013 22:42

Scarlet yay for a night out with Wine ! :)

GenericDietCola · 18/04/2013 22:44

Oh Dino, so sorry re your diagnosis. Brooking that physio and maybe surgery can sort out you and Scarlet.

Dream, surely it's time the illnesses and sleep problems buggered off! Brooking.

DinoSnores · 19/04/2013 11:24

After her imms, DD was really unsettled all evening, so I ended up getting into bed to watch TV on the laptop for some skin to skin to calm her. BFing wasn't helping at all, but she got some rest that way and then fed well at 10pm. I was expecting a really bad night but then she only woke at 3am for a really quick feed and then she woke us just before 7am!

scarlet, I'm surprised your GP won't refer you. My hospital has a specialist physio clinic for obs and gynae problems so I'm likely to be seen there too.

DinoSnores · 19/04/2013 11:25

dream, is there no possibility of getting a night nanny for a couple of nights to let you rest? Sounds like you really need a break. Hope S's vomiting settles down (although I might decline the brownies from the vomiting house Wink).

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 19/04/2013 22:48

Just popping in to say hi and see how everyone is doing!

Hooray for Scarlet's DS getting into your first choice school! Yay! I must say I had a ridiculously premature freakout about that yesterday. The flat I'm buying is only 318m from the school I want DD to go to when she's older enough, and based on previous years "furthest pupil" stats, that should be (just about) close enough. Then after the offers went out this week they updated the stats for the school, and for Sept 2013 entry the furthest pupil lives ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE METRES from the school gate! Argh! It's all so insane. My only hope is that STBXH's flat (which has hit a few snags unfortunately) somehow miraculously makes it through. That flat is only 186m from the school, so surely that should get her in on the waiting list even if not in the first round of offers. I just can't get over how ludicrous it all is!

Sending lots of No Brooking solidarity out to everyone enduring sleepless nights; Little, Stacks, Smegs and everyone else. DD has been a nightmare to settle recently, and last night she cried from 3am through to 4.30am (keeping up my whole family) until I finally just lay down on the floor next to her travel cot and she finally went to sleep. I had to stay there, on the floor next to her, for the rest of the night because she kept waking every 20-30mins to check I was still there! It's stupid I know, but my bed at my parents' house isn't against a wall, so I can't take DD into bed with me and I literally couldn't think of anything else I could do!?!

Sending huge hugs to Olives, I'm so sorry you're having such a tough time right now. You sound so strong though, I hope things start to improve soon.

Dream I cannot believe the universe can be so cruel as to send d&V to S again! It's just plain wrong! No Brooking hard for good health across the entire Dreamy household. How's work going?

Pretty please can someone tell me in a private message who Dino used to be? I'm sure we must know each other from the earlier threads? I'm very sorry to hear about your diagnosis though, I really hope the physio can give you some more effective exercises, and you're body will be able to heal itself as time progresses. You too Scarlet!

Happy birthday to Jaggy's DS2! I had almost forgotten the flurry of No Brooker BFPs, followed 9 months later by about a month of almost back-to-back births! With each birthday that passes it becomes a little bit more real that it's actually DD's birthday next week! Eeek!

So lovely to hear from Pet! Has DS's sleep gone back to normal yet?

Generic I'm so sorry to hear about the illness in your family right now. Thinking of you my lovely.

Right, I'm going to get some sleep while I can...

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 19/04/2013 22:51

"Your" not "you're". Oh the shame. Blush

pommedechocolat · 21/04/2013 11:22

scream - I have done a lot of sleeping on the floor with dd1. When she moved into a big (massive) bed at 20 months it was how we taught her about sleeping in a bed she could get out of. I expect to do the same with dd2!

Brooking for dream!

Dh and I arguing a lot recently. The move seems to have had some kind of delayed stress effect. Not really sure how to deal with it. We both seem to think it's the other one's fault!

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 21/04/2013 20:57

scream, don't worry about the school. You're pretty close, and who knows how many will apply for 2016?! Too many 'what ifs' to panic yet. Get a bed guard for your bed for emergencies/exhaustion, but I'd have been on the floor too... The trials of parenthood.

Can I just say I'm still laughing at smegs qualification about not being attracted to badgers?

pomme an overseas move must be pretty stressful. Frequently being a total crosspatch myself with no move to blame I have no good advice but send sympathy and friendly vibes :)

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 21/04/2013 20:57

Enormously stressful actually...

Munxx · 22/04/2013 20:54

Most rubbish postnatal brooker ever munx here......

GreenOlives · 23/04/2013 10:22

Hello. Happy St George's Day ladies! Smile Hope all is well with all of you.
Put T down in his cot last night at 7pm after a feed, sleepy but still awake. Went for a shower in the en suite fully expecting him to be wide awake when I came out and he wasn't Shock He had settled himself to sleep! So we spent the evening staring at him on the video monitor until we went up to bed! Im sure its probably a fluke but we'll try again tonight! And since being on meds for the reflux he has gained 1lb in the last fortnight so im not stressing about weight gain anymore!
Will try and get on laptop later in week so I can read back and catch up properly. Smile

GenericDietCola · 23/04/2013 11:44

Olives, that's fab news! I'm going to really try to get E to self settle. He still won't take a dummy so he's going to have to learn without it! I spend a lot of time going up and downstairs letting him feed to sleep, but he is waking up a lot at the moment.

GreenOlives · 23/04/2013 13:23

T won't take a dummy either gen, and I know he'd love it as he sucks away on his lip when he's asleep! Im sure they'll be lots of up and down the stairs for me over the next few days/weeks too! Wink

GenericDietCola · 23/04/2013 20:05

I know E would like a dummy too, Olives, well he likes sucking anyway.

Tonight's attempts not going well. have been up and down loads and the only thing he wants is to feed. Then I put him down asleep and 5 min later.... waaaaa!
