Totally ok to eat chocolate for lunch, and for every other meal as far as I'm concerned.

Clarella · 04/01/2013 13:38

peony I've had days like that - it's exhausting but I honestly think if it's the only thing that works just stick them on the boob. we had a morning and another evening like that this week when it was about every hour for about 8 hours but then finally he seemed ok for a day or so. today I'm worried he doesn't want much!

I had some good advice re bf - if he demanded within 2 hours return to the last breast to get more hind milk. it can still confuse me but I find it helps to write times and which breast which we were doing in hospital as he was low weight

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2013 13:38

I had super noodles and dd's my chocolate buttons Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2013 13:39

You can get an app for that Clarella

MaMaPo · 04/01/2013 14:29

Spotty, I was about to say the same! I log all my feeds on an app, except for when she's clustering when it's not worth the bother.

The one I use is from birth.com.au and I think it's called baby care - there's a link here - forum.birth.com.au/everyones-birthtalk/108999-introducing-births-new-baby-care-app.html

Yyyyy to a stretchy wrap sling - i have a Victoria Sling Lady and R loves it. YouTube for videos on how to tie it, or better still go to a slingmeet and get shown. I plan to go to a woven at 6 months. i also have a mei tai (it's a WAHM one and more of a wrap tai tbh) for speed - even my 64yo Mum can manage taking him out in it for an hour :o

R gets bathed 1-2 times a week in just water with maybe a swipe with oil afterwards. I'm hoping to sign up for baby massage at the children's centre next month.

Chocolate for lunch is essential and there's No Such Thing as too much boob Wink Babies cry because they feel uncomfortable - empty tummy, wet nappy, need a poo, fluff on their toes, too hot or cold, wind... They have no motivation other than to feel snug.

I wear a ring on my middle finger and swap it while i feed. Also works eith a bracelet/hairband on the wrist

Fluff on their toes - Grin Pidj!

Clarella · 04/01/2013 16:25

I do the hair band thing and just put in my notes if not on notebook - might look at app though thanks

got in a pickle as hv and mum think that if he sleeps more than 3 hours or 4 at night just let him - seemed to be heading for 4 this morning but didn't manage ti get much in night as was so grumpy with wind so I felt uneasy. as low weight at birth I've been quite militant about not letting him go longer than 3 in the day and 4 at night - which has paid off as he was 7lb 10 yesterday!! (5lb 2 at birth) - I feel I should keep on with this regime ( plus demand feeding if he wants more) as he's still skinnier than other babies. is my gut feeling ok or should I start allowing him longer at night??

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2013 16:34

I would see how you go Clarella you will probably find he wakes four hourly overnight on his own if that's what you've been doing. Try it for a bit and see his you feel. I would still feed every three hours in the day though otherwise he might be hungry all night!

EggsMichelle · 04/01/2013 17:06

F loves our wrap (closer caboo) and although it is a bit complicated, it is a million times easier than lugging the car seat around/negotiating a pushchair around tesco!

Pidj my DM runs baby massage groups, so for now we are having private sessions, then at 8wks we can join the groups and start socialising, really looking forward to it.

Just walked 3miles with DH, F and the dog, lovely walk!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 04/01/2013 17:28

Ds won't go to dp, don't know if it's how he's how he's holding him or unfamiliarity. He screamed for the 10 minutes i stole to pee and have a bath Sad

He's only just settled in his moses for his nap. I'm exhausted having barely put him down all day. I've done three loads of washing, cleaned the kitchen, swept and mopped the kitchen and hall floors, half unpacked, been to the shop fir food, cooked sausages for lunch and curry for dinner. And i doubt I'll be allowed to sleep till 10 or 11 due to the Evening Cluster.

FriendofDorothy · 04/01/2013 17:42

I have a feeding app on my iPhone called iBaby Feed. I find it quite useful.

^ This this this!!

FriendofDorothy · 04/01/2013 17:45

Tonight is the first night my husband is back on night shift since Edward was born. He has three nights in a row which is. Nightmare because I effectively lose him for three nights and all the days as well because he is sleeping. He is so much more patient than me at night so I am worrying about ow I might cope Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2013 17:47

pidj you're doing amazingly well I hope you can get some rest tonight I expect you're so tired and running on adrenaline ThanksBrewBiscuit

Secondsop · 04/01/2013 18:09

I use the ibaby Feed app as well.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/01/2013 18:15

Oh FoD that sounds hard for you! I hope LO behaves for you tonight.

Ethan seems to be surgically attached to my boob, that doesn't help when I'm trying to cook for the big dcs. I can't wait until they're back on school dinners so I can just give them sandwiches!

PurplePidjChickIsNotTheMessiah · 04/01/2013 18:16

My clothes and his nappies! Had none left! Not even pyjamas! slattern puts them all in together

Now in bed watching Spaced with dp doing the between-feed cuddles. A useful but not stressful job for him

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/01/2013 18:20

I'll forgive the washing but you do not need to be cleaning floors

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2013 18:21

Ds is attached to my boob ATM feeling a bit fed up by it tonight Blush I just want some chocolate and biscuits but we don't have any!

Poor you FoD Sad you'll be ok though I'm sure Smile

Emily must have had her baby by now?!

EggsMichelle · 04/01/2013 18:34

Slow down Pidj, is there anyone who can help you with the housework rather than you doing everything?

I don't know about F having a growth burst, but my boobs have suddenly got massive, they look ridiculous!

MaMaPo · 04/01/2013 18:40

Pidj, this -
Now in bed watching Spaced with dp

  • is a course of action I endorse.
theblushingpeony · 04/01/2013 18:46

stacey thanks for the encouragement, it must've been hard with your DS1! Do you remember when it roughly started to get a bit easier for you (i.e. when he started to cry less)?

I went for lunch with my friends today and as soon as I put DD in her snowsuit she fell asleep. She does seem to love her pram as she's always quiet in it. She also slept through the lunch so my friends think that she's a little angel and don't understand why I'm complaining...But as soon as I got home and took DD out of the pram she started crying again. A nappy change and a quick feed (she wasn't really interested) later she's now asleep on my shoulder - her favoured position. Quite tempted to just leave her in her pram next time if she's still asleep when we get home...Is that bad?

Must look into getting a sling soon. Silly question but do babies like being in a sling even if you're just sitting on a couch or is it mainly worth using when you're pottering about?

We did write down feeding times for the first two weeks but our HV advised that it's pointless as there's no pattern to it at the moment anyway so we stopped. It did seem a bit crazy as DD feeds so sporadically and I can't really tell what is a "proper" feed and what's just for comfort...

FoD Sounds hard, I hope the nights go well for you! My DP is a LOT more patient than me (especially at night) so I can imagine how you feel.

HoneyMumandSon · 04/01/2013 18:58

Dash has screamed blue murder 4-7pm and 9-12pm the past few nights. I think it's wind, gp thinks poss reflux too so has prescribed infant gaviscon. We tried that and he spat most of it out. Has fed and had gripe water and infacol and still screaming. I'm losing my mind. Remind me why I wanted to do this?
