Just got back from the Drs - Nathaniel's got an infection in his belly button. Tbh, it has never seemed right - clip seemed to come off v early without it being healed, but various mws and hv said it looked fine. It had finally started to seem like it had healed when today it randomly bled and started oozing (sorry if TMI). He's got to have antibiotics - did quite a comedy unimpressed face when he had his first dose - and it should clear up in a couple of days.

Interesting about food/drink affecting milk. Think there are quite a few myths about (had heard the fizzy drink one but not from a HCP Shock) but wonder if some things maybe do affect some babies. Had drank my first glass of wine in what seems like forever before Saturday night's carry on - perhaps it did make a difference?

Could be your period Seconds? Shock

WockComble · 31/12/2012 17:34

Aw spotty don't be down - Z is just a freak greedy baby. Any weight gain is great and 4oz is ace. I think Z was just born super hungry. Even the HV had to double check Z's weight as it's such a freakish gain. He'll probably grow up to be obese...

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 31/12/2012 17:44

second my blood loss comes and goes and some days it's red blood. I think it's perfectly normal

Ethan has a windy belly today. Some horrible high pitched crying and a hard belly :(

StateofConfusion · 31/12/2012 17:47

spotty my now 4yo dd was slow to gain weight, still is, but a gains a gain and that's all that matters she's always been a perfectly healthy child --who can eat anything and stay skinny, I may be a tiny bit jealous haha--

Lilys gained 7.5oz since boxing day, so just 2.5oz to be back at her birth weight :)

I'm going with co-sleeping, I do put her down as and when I can, and I'd rather she slept in her own bed but I need to sleep, and having her on me or in bed means I get a decent amount, I'm shattered still as the big dcs don't allow much peace in the day so Lilys feeding a lot more than I think she would when they're at school, ill concentrate on routine then, for now I'm doing what I need to to survive!

SpottyTeacakes · 31/12/2012 17:53

Dd was slow to gain too and is really slim now but eats loads. I bottle fed her though so it didn't bother me. I suppose it feels a bit like its something I'm doing/not doing because I'm feeding him.

Secondsop · 31/12/2012 18:36

Oh spotty I hope it's not my period - was hoping for a couple of months respite at least, especially as we haven't sorted out anything about contraception yet! stacey one of my friends said the bleeding can increase when you're breastfeeding a lot, which I have been doing in the last couple of days especially in the last 24 hours.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/12/2012 19:32

New look have hot milk nursing bras on offer online Smile

WillYuleDoTheFandango · 31/12/2012 19:58

Spotty I've been bottlefeeding and J has only gained 2.5oz in a week. Hv said that was great so I wouldn't worry

WockComble · 31/12/2012 20:18

I just bought a hot milk bra from Debenhams online, waiting for it to be delivered. Got a feeling I should have gone for s bigger size though as 34E prob isn't going to fit my mahoosive milk filled bazookas.

Haven't tried hot milk bras before so I'm hoping they're worth the money.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/12/2012 20:45

Well my boobs have settled down but my sister reckons they settle down even more in a few months. It wouldn't be do bad if bras weren't so expensive!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 31/12/2012 20:56

I'm using a cheap version of the 'ahh bra' the seamless wireless bras. Theyve been great and they have fit at my smallest and biggest. Asda had a similar one that I picked up the other day I forget what it was called (could have been comfort bra?!) but it was slightly more shaped and has removable pads and it's brilliant. Only problem with these is they all have thick straps but I'm not trying to busy out the strappy tops just yet so I'll worry about that when the time comes.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/12/2012 21:03

I don't have an asda Sad

WLmum · 31/12/2012 21:37

Does anyone else wonder how there can possibly be any milk left after a cluster feed? I can't help but worry that she's left 'sucking on empty' and worry that's why the feeds just go on and on. I know cluster feeding is normal but I do worry that she's getting enough after disastrous feeding with dd1.

Secondsop · 31/12/2012 21:38

spotty thank you for the tip - I have just ordered 3 hot milk bras :) Including the purple one :) Tbh I find it hard to find 38F at the best of times so I'm hoping to wear these even when not nursing.

brooke89 · 31/12/2012 21:42

Happy New Year everyone Wine

EggNogMichelle · 31/12/2012 22:08

That purple hot milk bra is beautiful, I'm gutted it doesn't have my size.

Happy new year! I'm at my in laws tonight, think ill be asleep in the next 30mins!!!

Secondsop · 31/12/2012 22:15

I've actually bought more clothes since having the baby than I did during maternity (just wore my normal dresses, which i make, with the belt above the bump). I must be stopped!

Pre-emptive Happy New Year to everyone - we've all had a great 2012 :)

SpottyTeacakes · 31/12/2012 23:46

Felix has a really snuffly nose, all phlegmy, and keeps sneezing. Definitely a cold rather than newborn grunting etc is there anything I should do for him?!

Secondsop · 31/12/2012 23:55

Spotty Have you got one of those nasal aspirators that can suck out the mucus?

HoneyMumandSon · 01/01/2013 00:50

Happy new year all. Youve all been such a wonderful support with all that has happened this year. Thank you.
