smiley poor you and poor DD. You must be exhausted and so stressed. Hope DD bounces back really quickly and you get an opportunity to sleep. Hugs for you.

Sent DS2's passport application off as we're flying on 12th jan and the post office lady said they may reject the pics cos the background has crinkles in it. Rather stressed Confused had pics done professionally, will be v pissed off if they cause us to have to cancel flights Angry

smileyhappymummy · 25/11/2012 11:48

Temp stayed up, has had 3 attempts at lumbar puncture and 4 at iv access all failed. Has had Im antibiotics instead. Poor baby.

crazypaving · 25/11/2012 11:54

londonlivvy · 25/11/2012 12:52

Poor you smiley and poor little baby smiley. That must be so stressful, but at least you know you're in the safest place. Sending lots and lots of temperature lowering and get well soon vibes your way xxx

Londonmrss · 25/11/2012 14:52

Oh dear Smiley. Much love, thinking of you.

I have an awful confession.
Last night I traded a blow job for sleep.
I didn't mean to! We had some sexy fun (knickers on for me) and then he commented how amazing it was, how he can't wait to do something in return when I'm ready, in fact is there anything he can do now...
So I said that there was lots of expressed milk in the fridge so perhaps he could take most of the night shift?
Does that make me a big whore or an evil genius? Because much as I'm looking forward to my first and many subsequent post pregnancy orgasm, I would blow anyone for a good night's sleep.

hufflepuffle · 25/11/2012 16:17

Oh Londonmrss you slapper!! Brilliant!! That has made me laugh so much on a day where I really need it!!! No shame involved, bloody good work! Shame my libido still hibernating, I'd give it a go myself!!
Grin Grin

Zara1984 · 25/11/2012 16:42

londonmrs you are an evil genius Grin

crazy the photo place that did DS' passport pix actually photoshopped the background so it was perfectly white/flat; if your pix get rejected could you ask them to do this?

Packing for NZ right now. Just unearthed my pre pregnancy clothes. Hahahahaha. Sob. None of those will be coming with me, it'll be my maternity gear all the way. Sad

AnneH656 · 25/11/2012 17:20

London this is genius and duly noted!!

smiley i hope you and the wee one are ok. Hugs xx

LoopyLa · 25/11/2012 17:59

smiley hope you and your LO are ok Thanks

LondonMrss Grin you're bloody brilliant!! Love it Wink

smileyhappymummy · 25/11/2012 18:06

London mrs definitely genius.
Good news is that blood results are normal. Bad news is that temp is back up and she doesn't want to feed just dozing miserably on my knee. Really worried for her and hate seeing her ill.

goldengirl71 · 25/11/2012 18:36

Londonmrss, you are a scream. Love it!!

londonlivvy · 25/11/2012 18:40

Oh goodness, smiley. Glad her bloods are ok, but still sounds like a tough time for you all. Hugs.

Angelico · 25/11/2012 19:30

Oh poor Smiley and mini Smiley :( Hope she perks up a bit soon. It's just a bloody awful time of year for virus-y things Thanks

London that made me :o - evil genius for sure :o

Grobag-wise we have a mamas and papas one and it's great apart from fact that it can't be thrown in tumble dryer! We don't use it much mostly because my aunt is a champion knitter and I am using all the beautiful blankets she made (including one she made for me when I was a bean :o) while the bean is still small enough to fit under them. We also got a Baby Bjorn and I thought it was great apart from not fitting over my boobs. Probably going to keep it for DH.

Wave to everyone, it's feeding time at the zoo...

crazypaving · 25/11/2012 19:36

smiley thinking of you. Hope you get more good news soon and that she wakes up ravenously hungry.

londonmrs hahahahahaha!!! Grin you filthy bird Grin I am totally with you though. Anything for a night's sleep.

squidkid · 25/11/2012 20:12

No time to write, but thinking of you smiley and your poor babes, the thought of LP-ing a tiny one is awful, I am so sorry. Fingers crossed not serious - take care and look after yourself, is someone with you??

Woolybob · 25/11/2012 20:12

Oh dear smiley sending cooling thoughts and white blood cells, hope things improve soon. So scary when they're so little but you're in the right place.

Midgetm · 25/11/2012 21:50

Oh smiley, so wrong for a little one to be so poorly, really hope she picks up soon and that both of you are being well looked after Flowers

londonmrs evil genius.

smileyhappymummy · 25/11/2012 22:00

Just had another failed l p attempt. Lungs are working well can be heard screaming from the other end of the ward. She is at least now managing a little slurp at boob, not great feeding but better than nothing.
Might be worth mentioning to all of you that babies under three months with high temp always ought to see dr - we get so much useless advice from health visitor etc but this doesn't really seem to get mentioned, d p didn't know till I told him. Can also recommend a digital thermometer that can be used under arm the ear ones are just too big for tiny babies.
Thanks all for support

MrsConfusion · 25/11/2012 22:15

Just sending love and hugs to smiley and minismiley. Scary times but you're in the best place. Thanks

Smorgs · 25/11/2012 22:16

Oh smiley glad she's managing to feed a bit, and cry - that's a good sign right? But still. Thinking of you.

Thanks for the advice on temperatures. Can anyone tell me what is the right temp for a baby? Books say different temps depending on where you measure/ what thermometer you use and we have one of those ear thermometers but the instructions fail to say what temp is normal?!

hufflepuffle · 25/11/2012 22:29

Smiley thinking of you and babysmiley and hoping temp comes down v soon

My GP advised us temp should be under 37.4. We have Braun thermoscan which is in ear but v v easy to use and actually GP used same.

Smorgs · 25/11/2012 22:44

Thanks huffle think I have the same one, only used it once and was a bit tricky as he was wriggling so much!

OctoberOctober · 25/11/2012 22:58

Just on the thermometers - def worth getting a digital one you can pop under their arm after advice from paediatrician. We had scary experience when bean was 4 days old and went to hospital. We had taken temp with the Braun in ear one mentioned before, as did the GP but the paediatrician said shouldn't use these with under 2s, certainly not newborns as their ear canals are not big enough to get an accurate reading and it ends up being more influenced by the room temp. Wish we had known this, would have saved ourselves lot of worry as the under arm one was perfectly normal. Hmm

bella2012 · 25/11/2012 23:06

those ear thermometres are lifesavers in my experience. You can keep checking them while they are asleep. The first fever ds1 had was one of the scariest things and I was so glad to be able to track his temp exactly. As smiley says though-might be difficult to use on a teeny ear. Thinking of you smiley and hoping so much for a quick recovery for your little one. Is she dc2? Xx

londonmrs you evil genius you! Desperate times and all that! How did he take your suggestion?
