Wowza. That's a lot of babies! It would be grand to add all the extra siblings as well. We have been such a fruitful bunch!

Sorry for long absence - work is barmy at the moment and I'm generally cream crackered at the end of the day. Jealous of all your parties Envy despite doing a drinks party every year until last one, no bugger has invited us this year.
Secret santa - who do I email? And is there a Christmas meetup? I could take the girls out of nursery for a day in the week before Christmas maybe, or come to a grown-up evening do if that's likely? I miss you my loves, usually pop in briefly in the evening but can't keep up Blush

spotofcheerfulness · 29/11/2012 14:05

Blimey, sybs that's some rotten run of luck on the illness front without having to factor in bad feeling from work colleagues too Sad. Hopefully M's bug will just be a short-lived one and he'll be up for his party on Saturday.

Deids I'm glad to hear DS's hearing test has come back clear and you got some good feedback from the parent's evening. He was such a bright and friendly little button when I saw him, I'm sure a lot will be just things he'll grow out of.

Beans, you poor love, no wonder you're feeling a bit blue about your dad, especially with all the Christmassy stuff, family chat etc. I was heartened to hear your DD2's love of poo is thriving so early. You must have very strong genes Grin.

Rubes I hear you about the Primark PJs. T isn't the slenderest creature but he's bursting out of the 4-5 year old top and has to have it unbuttoned!
I think you know the solution to your lack of booze induced headache, don't you???

V jealous of all the slinky dress chat. It does make me realise how dull my life is that I have no occasion to wear anything nice, nor the motivation. There's a constant grey cloud overhanging the house which affects everything - no money coming in and DP's lack of job make things tricky, along with the boys continued crap sleep. I realised that a lot of our sleep training problems are to do with trying to keep them quiet and not wake the other, which is why going to bed is hard (DP has to stay in with one child while I stay with the other til they go to sleep Blush then when they wake in the night (I mean properly wake, not just cry out in their sleep) I run to one to stop waking his brother up).

T had croup last week which didn't help, and DP has cellulitis which involves taking 8 x antibiotics per day and makes him a bit woozy. I know it will all pass but I'm just feeling a bit anxious in the run up to Christmas, both boys' birthdays, etc.

Sorry for gloomy post - I do count my blessings and have many positive moments - I just find it really helpful to be able to blurt it all out here as I feel like there is quite a lot of upper lip stiffness to be done in RL.

Indith · 29/11/2012 14:56

Boo!

really musy come post properly.

sybilfaulty · 29/11/2012 16:08

Hi Indith

Spot, sorry you too have illness. It's no fun at all is it? Croup is very frightening. M now asking to sit on my lap so I'll have to go but hope to respond properly in a min.

DeidreBarlow · 29/11/2012 16:35

Spot, sorry to hear of all the illnesses. I can see why you would be anxious having to deal with all the illness and stresses. Not even as if you can take some time for yourself having everyone else to look after. How is DP now?

Sybs, sounds like you are dealing with a lot of sickness too. Really hope they feel better soon.

So glad to have finished work for the week. I seem to have made cock-up after cock-up this week. It's my birthday tomorrow so am hoping for a better weekend!

Beans36 · 29/11/2012 17:43

I have just polished off a large bag of Tyrells sea salt and cider vinegar crisps. Oink.
I'm so sorry all littles are so rough. We've just popped out the other side of it, although DD1 always has a shiny trail up her sleeve from wiping her yellow strings. Bleugh.
SPot, I do feel for you. It must be so hard. Could you ever just leave them to wail to get to sleep? I'm sure you've tried everything, but you know they're safe and nothing can hurt them in their rooms, perhaps you could just turn the telly up loud and let them get on with it? Drastic times and all that. I've done it with DD2 and it worked. Took about 4 nights, but we got there in the end.mchances are when you go to bed, you'll find one of them in a wet heap up against the door, but they'll be asleep! Mum ended up locking me in my room, I was so bad and look how normal I am [twitches].

Reading the most fantastically sad and uplifting etc book, 'The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry'. Anyone else read it? Has made me sob!

PS Have just put the girls to bed. DH been working late (say 11ish) every night for months. I am SUCH an admirer of people who do this on their own day in day out. No booze too this week. V tired and gasping for a Wine !

OP posts:
Beans36 · 29/11/2012 19:39

PPS Spot, I say all that, but go up to DD1 repeatedly after she's in bed, so am not a practicer of what I preach!

VagolaJahooli · 29/11/2012 19:52

Hello all sorry a bit crap at keeping up. Am home alone as DH in Belgium, boys in bed and I'm catching up on bleak expectations. Seriously, Mr WG is a legend.

Right will back on later after listening to this.

Rubena · 29/11/2012 20:34

Deary me, puke city. Crappiest parent of the year award goes to me.... back later.

Beans36 · 29/11/2012 21:19

Why crappy, Rubes? Puke doesn't make you crappy!

Hoi, journalisty types, what are your thoughts on Lord Leverson's wotsit thingy. I get the feeling that some police & politicians might be getting off from doing naughty things. I know the papers have been a bit naughty, but I feel like something fishy is going on?

KiwiPanda · 29/11/2012 22:16

Hello all waves

Posting properly at the weekend but hope everyone is good! Happy birthday to the little 4 (4!!) year olds

[on which note JJ my DD1 is not on your list! Lily born 19/12, 6lb]

ZuleikaJambiere · 30/11/2012 09:05

Happy birthday to Nancy for yesterday, and to Matthew and Sarah for tomorrow. And a big happy birthday to Deids too

Thanks for the list Jump, it makes me want to weep. It seems so odd to see the words 'baby girl' next to my big girls name, I can't seem to remember what it was like when she was a baby. Even DD2 is growing too quick, 2 more teeth came through yesterday, which makes me sad for some reason, I think it's because suddenly her face looks grown up. Right, must pull myself together before I sob on the bus, in public!

My sympathies to all the ill folks and nippers, especially little Sybs, I hope he gets better in time for his party

Indith · 30/11/2012 10:09

Right I am going to do my "me" post then I'm reading back and making notes!

I am COLD. I want a new big snuggly jumper. Where shall I get one! Go forth and shop for me ladies.

Dh is rowing all day tomorrow Angry. We had plans in the morning, just little village hall eat bacon sandwiches plans but still plans. However someone put in more race entries without asking and if dh says no then 3 other people will be let down and dh will always be walked all over before he lets anyone down. Except us.

BUT on Saturday night I am off out with the local MN crowd. Cocktails here I come! I need another session with the breast pump first.

My baby is made mostly of snot. He has a hacking great cough and sore throat and is a grump. Dh has been all over the place on the trains this week too which has been great fun with the floods, landslides, power cables down and so on. So because he has been getting up very early to get trains I've been having to make sure he gets sleep. Wednesday I got up at 3.30am with the baby and didn't get back to sleep til around 10.30 that night. It was not good.

As usual with this weather Durham was very flooded. We are fine out here, it would take a flood worthy of Noah to flood our house. The roads were terrible though, you couldn't get anywhere. I knew they were getting bad on Monday but when I went to pick dd up from bursery (10 min max drive) I jsut had to make one diversion at a well known flood spot. The rest of the road though was under shallow water almost all the way. Coming home again (and I didn't linger I grabbed the girl aand ran) there was already a bit that I was NOT happy driving though but no way round it and I was half way through before I realised it was not as shallow as ont he way there! School shut early too but I missed the text as signal here is so sporadic so ds and half the other kids form my village were sent home with the school secretary in her big 4*4 Grin.

So the baby had finished teething and was healthy so dh and I decided to try sorting out the sleep. We thought we'd start with dh settling him all the time apart from 2 feeds at around 11pm and 4/5am with a view to then getting him to go to sleep in the cot/bed once he's got used to not being permanantly latched on. Well night 1 was rough but ok, not really any worse sleep wise than my normal nights (dh was grumpy as hell in the morning though!). Night 2 the baby woke around every 20 mins and took half an hour to get back to sleep. Night 3 was abandoned half way through when the baby was waking after 10 mins and taking half an hour or more to put back to sleep. Then the baby started snotting everywhere. So I guess we shall have to trya different method when he is better.

I've got my occupational health forms for university! So the paperwork is starting to come through, hopefully the bursary stuff will arrive soon and I can get my funding applied for.

Right then I think that's it. Now I need a proper read so I can see what you have all been up to :).

Indith · 30/11/2012 10:41

Ok.

Happy Birthday everyone! You too DB! I can't believe they are all turning 4! ZJ I totally agree on teeth making them look all grown up, ds2 has 6 now and is completely changed his face. Where did my baby go?

Sorry for all the poorly ones :( Hope they are all better soon.

JJ wow at that list! Brings back memories.

Kayz I never know who anyone is talking about either. I just let it all wash over me, we are behind the times up here Grin. Oh and your dd will eat when she is ready, just let her help herself at family meals.

Beans hope you are feeling OK and your dh is taking good care of you x

PJs- I love the mix and match packs of 2 from Sainsburys Grin. Cheap, nice and seem to be washing well.

DB glas your ds has such a good parents evening :)

The glam dress talk seems like another world for me! Very lovely to look at though.

I think that's about me all caught up. Sort of. The main points anyway!

How is it December tomorrow?

DeidreBarlow · 30/11/2012 11:28

Urghh indith that sounds like an almighty crappy week! Is it starting to get any better? So am I right in thinking that tomorrow your home all day with 3 DC's while DH goes rowing all day and your out tomorrow night? That is really unfair. After the crap week you've had with so little sleep it might have been nice if he'd be about so you can have a little nap and go out feeling refreshed tomorrow night! Have a great night though, and yes cocktails sound good.

Happy birthday to our next round of 4 year olds!! Oh my word they are getting so big! And on the topic of us all being 'here' for so long I really hope we are all here in 14 years time discussing what degrees of drunkenness they are up too Grin

Rubes Is everything okay? I hope your not all puking, and whatever has happened crappy parent you are not. Hope your okay x

I feel like I should be doing some chores but i can't be arsed. Its my birthday and DS and I are snuggled up watching DVD's instead! We are out for an early dinner tonight with my folks and the DC's. Then tomorrow the DC's are sleeping at mums so we are off out on our own. Hooray!

And yes December...madness. I started off so well Christmas shopping but have ground to a halt and still have lots to buy. DS isn't getting much though. He didn't get loads for his birthday and yet my house is still over run with toys, even after my declutter!!

Rubena · 30/11/2012 12:43

Happy birthday Deids! And the recent babies 4 year olds!

Oh, my crappy parenting was last night driving back from nursery ds said "I'm tired mummy I think you'd better put me to bed when we get home Hmm (was fine at nursery) So made them both dinner. DS didn't want it but took himself off to our bed (this was about 430pm for a "little rest" My brother rang just after that (he has trouble sleeping so yes was middle of night) and I was downstairs talking to him for ages but ds yelled out a few times and when I went up it was just silly stuff which I did for him like "can you get me my red car etc etc) around about the 4th request he was saying "come upstairs! over and over and was sort of crying in a whining way but I though it was just another silly request as he does it all the time when he's tired. Then he stopped and not long after dh came home and found him asleep (bedrooms are before the living room / kitchen in our house) but had puked everywhere Sad I felt like utter crap as I had told him to wait a bit when he yelled out for me last Sad
I bathed him and, PJ'd him and then wanted his dinner and ate the lot. He's been fine ever since but none the less I felt awful.

Right, must book these tickets - the fam flying in Tues! yippee - you watch, they'll drive me nuts in about a week! [bwink]

Honsandrevels · 30/11/2012 14:42

Don't feel bad Rubes. We've all done similar and most of the time it is requests for toys etc.

Can someone cut and paste the secret Santa address please? Would save me having to look it up and retype. I can't link on my phone.

Dd2's sleep: nights 3, 4 & 5 awful. We're comforting her without picking her up, telling her it is bedtime and then leaving. Is she just not cut out for this? I'm not sure what else to do. She gets angry when we're there but not picking her up so I'm not sure staying with her would help.

Spot That all sounds grim. DH had cellulitus last year and was really poorly. Hope your dp feels better soon.

Happy birthday to all those birthdays I've missed. Happy birthday Deids, enjoy your Sat off!

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 30/11/2012 15:23

Can you all tell who I am? I hope so. Its just one of my regular half-hearted attempts to ensure that if my RL identity is discovered then my past posts will not all be traceable. Which reminds me Jam that you are admirably relaxed about the MN/RL cross over. I admire you. I also think my posts are pretty boring but the very fact that I post on MN is something I would prefer RL friends not to know. Now sure why really.

Sorry so many of you are in sleep hell. Spot, Hons, Indith and Kayz I do hope things improve soon. Spot and Indith especially I think you are doing amazingly as neither of you ever seem to have ad respite for sleep deprivation. For most of us its goes in peaks and troughs but you two deserve a medal.

I was really sad to miss ZJ's trip to London. Was it good ZJ? I was looking forward to meeting you and showing the delights of my office network of coffee shops. Bloody morning sickness (I think that may be all that it was in the end, as I never got a fever or aches of anything).

Rubes, sorry to hear about the vomming. Don't be too hard on yourself. We all ignore the odd shout and that is just the risk we take.

Nice to see you JJ. Your work sounds busy. Are you fulltime now?

Deids, so good to hear the nursery managed some positive feedback about Deidsboy, he and you really deserved that.

I had a meeting with DD2's nursery teacher today. DD2 cries so much when left. Apparently she is OK after a minute to two but they describe her as quiet and controlled at school and she is so loud and cheeky at home. It worries me that she cannot be herself at school. The teacher seemed to know her pretty well which is nice, she had noticed how DD2 worries about things and how she is very adult orientated and she kept emphasising that this was all fine because we all have our individual characters and we must be allowed to be whoever we are. That is true but I wish DD2 was being herself more at school. I think it has made my mind p that I will not put DD1's school as DD2's frist choice on the schools application form - she needs somewhere smaller. I am going for a new free school where she would be the first intake and therefore not surrounded my crowds and noise in her first few years. Have you all finished your school applications???

JamInMyWellies · 30/11/2012 19:05

ArtiAubs Poor DD2, its so hard for them isn't it. Unfortunately my DS2 behaves appallingly at nursery/home/gymnastics anywhere actually. How do you think they will react being at different schools? How does it work re school runs?

Just too busy for words at the mo. I cant keep up with everything that is going on plus we are having the kitchen which is also dining rm/playroom decorated next wk. So somehow in-between decorating the house for Christmas entertaining my DSIS and future BIL for Sunday lunch I have to dismantle the kitchen and put everything somewhere. Oh and DH is working all weekend. As much as its nice the extra wonga he gets when doing wkends. Sometimes the end of projects are rubbish for us as a family. My friend today likened it to when her husband is harvesting. Oh and for all those who were possibly as dense as I was when in my 20's and took out loans with PPI I urge you all to claim back. I have just received a rather amazing amount of money from my bank.

Sorry for all the poorly little ones well actually big ones. Rubes dont beat yourself up I would have done the exact same thing.

Happy birthday Dieds hope you are having a super fun day.

Right the evil ones are bellowing from teh bathroom.

Have a great wkend everyone. xx

Oh and what are the Scottish smileys about??? Bit early for Burns night. [bsmile]

VagolaJahooli · 30/11/2012 19:16

St Andrew's day.

JamInMyWellies · 30/11/2012 19:33

Oops bad Scottish person I am. I blame living in England for my lack of knowledge on special Scottish days.

ShadyLadyT · 30/11/2012 21:03

This is the MN equivalent of putting on a not very convincing moustache...

Might go for something else! There is already a ShadyLady apparently, and knowing my luck she will be some weirdo bigot with very bad spelling Grin

I am in on my own and about to read back and catch up - last time I did this DP came home unexpectedly early - we will see if the same happens! More in a bit.

Indith · 30/11/2012 21:07

Oooh Shady. Makes it seem like you should be skulking in a slinky frock with a cigarette in an elegant holder. Possibly waiting to seduce Bond.
