Nah Vag, I was just asking as I hadn't read back very far and wondered if RT was finding out or not. RT are you finding out?

Honsandrevels · 06/11/2012 13:56

Hello,

Just caught up.. been on a hen weekend in the middle of nowhere. No phone reception!

RT What a worry. As others have said your risk is low really. Lots of love to you.

Back later.

Beans36 · 06/11/2012 14:10

RT -loads of love. Thinking of you xxxx

Hello,

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments this morning. I am sneaking on at work, where I really should be concentrating, but I just had to share some news which I feel like shouting from the rooftops.

You may remember that I had a blood test at the Fetal Medicine Centre last week which is for a brand new screening test where they isolate the baby?s DNA in the mother?s blood and test it for chromosomal disorders. The FMC are pioneering this test so it is not on the NHS yet. However it has been through clinical trials and the trails show it is as reliable as a CVS for detecting the three most common chromosomal disorders.

Anyway, I was told the blood analysis would take two weeks which is why I had to wait until next Monday for my nuchal scan as the FMC wanted to discuss the DNA results when I had my nuchal. Anyway, I just got a call from the FMC to say they had the result back early. They nearly killed me by asking ?are you alone, can you sit down?? and I was sure it was going to be bad news BUT it was not. I am extremely low risk for the three main Trisomy disorders (Downs, Edwards and the other one which I have forgotten the name of). In fact the risk factor they have given me is 1/10,000 (0.01%).

This does not mean that the nuchal test isn?t indicating other problems, a congenital heart defect would cause a thick nuchal but would not be picked up by the DNA test and the same is true of some very rare genetic disorders but this does massively reduce the likelihood that the baby has a chromosomal disorder. They have also moved my FMC nuchal to Friday so I don?t have to wait another weekend.

I am so pleased I had this test. Seriously, if any of you ever have another baby and want screening go to the FMC. How amazing that they have invested a non invasive test that has results as reliable as a CVS and can be done at 12 weeks AND They call you early when the results come through. I love them very much right now.

Oh, and just to clarify I have no idea what gender this baby is! In my dream it was a boy which is why I said ?he? this morning. I hope to find out on Friday though and I will tell you all!

xxx

McKayz · 06/11/2012 15:51

Oh RT, that sounds really good!! What wonderful news. The FMC sounds like a wonderful place indeed. xx

Indith · 06/11/2012 16:03

Wonderful news. May Friday bring more of it :)

Now I'm having a little weep for you arti. How wonderful to have done reassurance and also to get moved to Friday. Hurray for fmc. Fingers crossed all will be well. Thanks for sharing the news with us. God bless the basket.

I wonder if it is a boy. Fifty fifty I suppose. Great to find out though

Hurray!

DeidreBarlow · 06/11/2012 18:01

Oh RT that is wonderful news! I am so, so happy for you what a huge relief. I'm sure Friday will bring more good news too.

VagolaJahooli · 06/11/2012 20:23

Yay RT that is wonderful news, & so lovely of them to call you. I love FMC I would have a baby again just to go back there for a hot chocolate.

Beans36 · 06/11/2012 21:40

Hurray! Well done FMc and RT! 80%chance third will be same sex as previous two, apparently. Are you keener for either a boy or girl, RT, or not bovved?

I got my period today, so am not in clacky club. Relief overwhelming feeling!

Chilli Pepper is turning into a delightful dog and I rather love her at last! Good. She is already responding to training and has been house clean for three days. That helps in the love stakes, I must say! We seem to have fallen into a rather pleasant routine/relationship!

LT are you bearing up? thinking of you.

Today is a month since Dad died. I can't believe a month has gone so fast. I can't believe he's died either, still. Is this normal?

Also, I'm not sure if you'll remember (& don't expect you to!), but in the summer I was having terrible trouble with erratic heart beats? Anyway, today I went to see a cardiologist at Addenbrookes. I wasn't going to bother, but Dad and Mum were insistent. Didn't want to let Dad down and knew Mum was v tearful at the time (so unlike her), so I went. Extra heartbeats still there, so I have to have a 24hr ECG and an ultrasound of my heart, then an exercise test as well. May be nothing, and just the way I am, but they have to make sure. Strangely, I was glad something showed up on ECG rather than me just being a big old hypo! Then realised that was silly and should have hoped there was nothing! Oops. Dad would be pleased I've gone and Mum was too.

Anyway, must away. DH has got his copy of Halo 4 I gave him for his bday. It's only just been released and he's v excited, so will watch it for a bit before retiring to my pit. Can't wait to sleep tonight !

Sybs, am ok, thank you for asking. Will be in touch v soon.

X

I have a half typed post, which I'll post now before the thread moves on. It's quite a pathetic attempt at a catch up, I'll come back to all those I've missed soon. Hi to you all , especially PD

RT such great news, hurrah Smile, my fingers are crossed for more of the same on Friday. My guess is a boy. Of all the families I know, most with 2 DCs have 2 of the same whereas those with 3 have both. Although Beans' stats seem to prove me wrong

Thinking of you this week LadyT x

Kayz if you still have lumpy boobs, ibuprofen (plain, not fancy neurofen with the extra stuff) works a treat on any inflammation. Hopefully you've caught it early

Thanks for the advice on A's sucking, Veg was right about us having to deal with at some point whatever we do. And Effie, fortunately I had a weekend away with my friends booked this weekend anyway, which was marvellous. A went to bed much easier for DH than for me, probably because he didn't have tasty boobs to distract her, so problem averted.

I'm in for the secret Santa, but can't volunteer DH, as he's a complete techno-dunce and can barely send an email

Work on tomorrow, wish me luck!

JamInMyWellies · 06/11/2012 23:09

Ruddy great news arti!

McKayz · 07/11/2012 05:32

I was told that 80% stat too. I was very shocked to find out that we were having DD.

Beans, I'm sure it's still very normal. When my grandad died last year my mum would occasionally have to stop herself asking my nan how he was.

XH used to have 24 hour ECGs because of his muscular dystrophy. It's not too bad, it was a little box thing he had to wear. I hope everything turns out to be ok. Xx

DD is waking early again. I saw HV in the shop yesterday and she asked how things were going as I don't go to clinic. Her suggestion is to give DD a rusk just before bed. Hmm
We are thinking of weaning her before 6 months but not quite yet and not with a rusk I'm going to eat them

I hope all of you are ok. I'm going to try and get another hours sleep now.

sybilfaulty · 07/11/2012 06:20

Morning girls ! XXX

RTchoke · 07/11/2012 08:32

I really don't think I mind whether it is a boy or a girl. I'd love to experience having a son but I also think there is something quite special about 3 sisters. DH admits to having a slight pref for being the beleagured single male in a house of unreasonable women. I will be really happy either way. I heard a different stat which is that if you have had two girls your chances of a third are 55% to 45% so only slightly more than 50:50. Thinking of this thread Sybs and Kayz started with two of one gender then switched for their third. We will
see!

I'm exhausted having woken up at 5am so nervous that Mitt Romney may be leader of the free world that I had to check the news. Then I was so relieved that I couldn't sleep.

Beans, I'm glad you got your heart checked out and that they have identified the problem. Hopefully it will be easy to treat. Are you going to stop TTC until you know? And take care of yourself around the month anniversary, it is hard when the permanence of it all sinks in.

poisondwarf · 07/11/2012 08:34

Just bobbing on v quickly to say fab news RT, what a relief for you.

And at ZJ! Hope work is okay.

SummerLightning · 07/11/2012 08:46

Super duper news rt!! Yahoooo!

traceface · 07/11/2012 08:51

hello lovely ladies.
Sorry I have been absent for way way too long. I have skimmed but have absolutely no hope of catching up.
I have in fact come to the decision that I need to bid farewell to you all. I don't want to do a dramatic "I'm leaving" but felt rude to simply vanish. My reason - I can't keep up! I feel very busy and tired and MN is low on my list of things to do. I'm not unwell - in fact my new tablet regime is keeping me in a good place - but I feel a nagging sense of guilt when I don't come on to the thread for a while, and I think I need to release myself from that. You have been an amazing bunch of ladies who have supported me, shared good times and bad and really have kept me going at times. I am so grateful for that and have loved meeting up with those of you I've had the pleasure to meet. Thank you.
I wish every one of you the very best for the future.
Much love, Tracey x

McKayz · 07/11/2012 09:27

Oh Trace Sad I probably speak for all of us when I say we don't mind just popping in when you get a minute. I am glad the tablets are making you feel better.
Lots of love xx

Honsandrevels · 07/11/2012 12:42

Aww Trace. None of us want you to see our thread as a cause of stress or guilt. However, why not leave the door open and pop in every now and then? You wouldn't need to keep up yet we'd still get to see you from time to time.

Rubes Why the deleted post? I'm intreiged (sp?)

Beans Well done for getting it checked. I have you my top 24 HR ecg tip - polo neck!

My DH has volunteered for the secret Santa again if you'd like him to do it! He asked last week if he could do it again. Just let me know!

VagolaJahooli · 07/11/2012 12:53

Trace don't go, surely just popping in every now & then won't hurt. What if anyone ever comes to York (like me) how can I meet up with you. If it causes you less stress then I understand but I for one dont think you should feel guilty.

Beans how could you think we could forget the heart condition. You scared the bejesus out of us. Glad they are on top of it.

Hooray for Mr Obama. DS2 keeps cheering when he comes on the tele, I think he has gotten caught up in the very American CNN coverage. I got a bit carried away myself and started thinking I would quite like to live there, until a friend posted a Facebook status (she lives in LA) saying that she had been berated by a women for trying to shake her hand at a meeting, because its flu season. The women then proceeded to apply alcohol rub to her hands because my friend had touched her. My friend is also a nurse so she was baffled by it all. Do people really believe that human contact should be reduced & we need to constantly dis-infect ourselves.

DeidreBarlow · 07/11/2012 14:46

Oh lovely trace no need to feel guilty for not popping on very often. Please, please just come on when you can and say hi and let us know how your doing? No need for a catch up just say hello. Of course if you think its best to not come back then we understand xx

DeidreBarlow · 07/11/2012 14:48

Rubes are you okay? I also noticed the deleted post...hope so x

EffiePerine · 07/11/2012 17:35

Trace: I'm not really qualified to comment, having been away from the thread for months on end and only sidling back in recently! Just up say that I have always enjoyed talking to you, and if you do feel like having a break from MN but want to stay on touch I think you have a few of our emails? Of course there is nothing to stop you popping in when you feel like it without being obliged to keep up. Much love to you and your gorgeous girls xx
